PES 2013 Discussion Thread

What I like in PES 2013 is the space for expression. The pitch is huuuge.

Yes the pitch is huge, but what bugs me is that the teams tend to "bunch" near the halfway line leaving 40m between the CB's and the GK = through ball spamming

It's awful what Konami have done by making through ball play as effective. It is impossible to prevent your backline from pressing up towards the halfway line and leaving that "through ball space"
Believe me I've tried every tactic/formation option
To try and stop this I tried manually moving my backline right back as close to my GK as I could, set defence line to zero, player support to defensive - and as the game got underway at kick off my CB's were very high up and then pushed up further and voila - lofted through ball gets goals again

Why oh why isn't it possible to hold your defence back? It's the most serious flaw in PES I've seen in the past few years

@Bullstein : My only gripe with the gameplay. The throughball thru the middle (TTM) that the AI does, bull*. But, guess what? Using PES Editor to edit the global function Defensive Line to your liking will completely remove TTM.

I honestly don't ever see that. Since buying the game on release day I don't think I've once conceded from a lofted through ball, and maybe a couple of times at best from a standard through ball. I mostly concede from crosses of from various other types of goals.

Not conceding nearly as many deflected goals as I did in PES 2012, they drove me absolutely insane before.

Now if only they'd make keepers parry into safer positions, i'd be even happier.

Seriously?

What platform you playing on m8? I'm on ps3 and this is a serious flaw

Ps

What's PES editor?

I am absolutely gutted

Shot it konami way to treat your customers. Like how they thanked me for making the purchase.

I asked them why I could not enter any matchrooms internationally as I played fine in 2011 and 2012

OK thanks Matt :)).

Another quick question, if I start an MLO with North London, when I put Daymos option file on my game, will my MLO team change to have Chelsea's kits? Or should I wait to start an MLO until after I've got the option file?

Yeah, honestly. I'm on 360 but the game is identical. All I can suggest is use jockey a lot, and use the right stick to select your last man to patrol your defence while caling over a second defender. But jockeying is the key as it slows the play down.

One thing is for sure, if it can, the CPU will exploit gaps if you let it, and adjust its style of play. Slow it down and use all your defensive controls, and it will play a more possession game.

When you say jockey, is it just RT with the left stick? Still trying to get to grips with the defending system this year.

Does holding RT and A have any effect? In the command list, they say you can use A to hold up right?

P.S : Watching the Arsenal-Chelsea match now and its uncanny how similar it is to PES, which I was playing just before I started watching.

Exactly the same even states it in the manual

Really? To me, zero still provides a small level of assistance, even though you can still play the ball where you want, if you aim specifically at a team mate there are some stats at work that 'guide' the ball to its target. As Jimmy says too, the power bar moves at different speeds depending on player passing ability - better players will allow a slower power bar.

I play on zero and at first it feels manual, but try playing with Pirlo. Ground passes feel a lot more laser guided and long balls will find their target far more than with other players. In fact in a match I played he totally ran the game, whenever he played a long ball my forward would almost always come out with the ball. Tried it with a lesser passer and the defender would come out on top most of the time

If zero was completely manual then I'd have the same pass completion stats no matter which team. Yet last night I played one match at Barcelona, finished with pass completion of 85%. I then played as Parma, and finished with a completion rate of just 72% . Quite a drop if stats play no role.

What is brilliant however is that, on zero assistance, It affects the CPU's passing too. Plenty of errors from the opposition which is lovely. Makes for a balanced game IMO.

I believe jockey is called Contain in PES, and it's just hold A, then use left stick to position your defender how far away from the attacker you want. Then you can use RB to nick the ball or double tap A to attempt a tackle.

Not saying it's completely manual, yes there is some assistance.

Was stating that the manual modifier (LT) and zero assistance are the same thing.

Personal experiences obviously suggest that there is some difference between zero assist and holding :l2:. On the other hand, in a booklet shipped with PC dvd version on page 18 they say:
NOTE: If you set "Pass Support" to zero in "Personal Data Settings", you will be able to play Manual Passes without holding :l2:.

Interesting, ain't it?

That is strange, there's definitely a difference. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Konami don't even know their own game!

CHEAT CHEAT CHEAT do not play NIAL29 last night on MLO , connection was good no problems, till i went 3- 0 up then straight away LAG LAG LAG the lag worsened and the game was abandoned, with no affect on points or money.

SAD SAD SAD litlle C**T

I am currently playing Be a Legend and AI of teammates is unbelieveble stupid, just watching what defensmen can do is really something, on the other hand CPU still cheats like no tommorow

I´m about to change my copy of PES 2013 for a new one of FIFA 13... I phoned the store and they told me there´s no problem if I want... Don´t know what to do....

I'd advise you not to waste your time on it tbh. It's obvious they don't give a fuck

I was being a bit sarcastic. Obviously I don't think they'll care about my reply - I was wondering if people had some "colourful" suggestions.

Although I disagree in one sense. I think it's a good idea for a lot of people to e-mail Konami about league mode / community mode (and magic boots, for that matter), which is why even a cynical old bastard like me did it. They don't give a fuck about one person's opinion, but if hundreds and hundreds of people complain about something, they'll at least register that fact. Whether they'll act on it is another matter.

another reason not to buy the game, what with this and no league modes, scripting and ai issues. nearly £40 for the game on ps3as well.
at least dick turpin wore a mask when he robbed you!!!

Still awaiting a reply from Konami.

You're right though. The more people complain the better. I'm pretty sure Konami will do nothing this year but they will know that league mode (as well as the other complaints) has to be sorted next year.
