PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Getting a bitter-sweet taste in my mouth while playing this game.

It's just so weird how it can leave you speechless in both ways - at times I'm in complete awe and then something absolutely attrocious happens. Shocked.

I don't get it, really, and I don't know whether to love it or hate it.

Er, that picture isn't very conclusive or rather, it's out of context. Now, we all know that FIFA outsells PES, that's not a mystery. With that said, there are a few factors to consider here. FIFA 13 was released 8 days after PES 2013. It's more than likely that PES has since been restocked (who knows how many times) since its initial release. Hence the practically full inventory. Considering FIFA 13 was released today in the EU, the game seemingly being sold out makes a lot of sense, right?
 
Will do. I figured I'll play it online against other people and do a ML offline on fully manual settings to keep it interesting.

Does anyone know if it's possible to play online 2 friends v CPU?
 
Still having an absolute blast with this. All I need is the new Daymos option file and I'll be well away on ML. Oh, and tonight I discovered a little payback on the CPU, I've discovered how to cause the CPU to do that stumble animation. Just hold A (X on PS3) when right up against the guy with the ball mainly from behind, and keep aiming the L stick into the attacker. He'll stumble off the ball if your guy is strong enough.

On a side note, I'm gonna have to change the music tracks or turn them off, apart from Teeth by SeeSpaces I hate the soundtrack with a passion. I thought it was ultra repetetive before realising that the game only has 8 tracks, and only 8 slots to addy our own soundtrack. WTF? The last couple of PES games have had 20 songs/available slots for your own music.

Another bizarre Konami omission. Nope, it's not important to gameplay but still affects the overall experience when in menus or ML mode.

You know wat i DID get arefund and i DID get FIFA 13. The game is not perfect but bloody helll a LOT of thought has gone into the game. Lots of game modes, production values through the roof, seamless online experience, skill games and gameplay is very decent but not perfect. The way Konami has treated its customers this year is absolutely disgusting. Playing EPL (not career mode, just a League) is a joy. Updates, stats, injuries, actual updates on other games while youre playing your match, my jaw has dropped a few times while playing it.

And for all the haters out there who will tell me that im a FIFA fanboy i remind you that i have every single pro evo title from the N64 days and was FANATICAL about pro evo in the PS2 days and used to snigger at anyone who played FIFA but enoughs enough. Konami are a joke these days one step forward four steps back.

Bloody hell I think Daymos has taken down his V1 as the links are dead. Apparently he is releasing V2 tomorrow though with Bundesliga and nPower Championship done...
 
Been having some good fun with the game.
Zero assistance passing, all other assists off.
Whilst I strongly disagree that this is pes 2012.5, it has striking similarities to it's predecessor in some ways.
The game is much too fast and arcadey.
Demo 1, without the overpowered shooting had the overall speed, gameplay and ball physics just right. Anyone who can't see this is either blind or ignorant to the fact. It was a real hark back to the ps2 days.
Konami listen too much to feedback and I'm not really sure what type of player they cater for these days. They had it nailed and somehow lost the way.
Hopefully a patch can sort this out.
All said and done though, R2 is absolutely fucking sublime.

What feels different compared to demo 1 when u are playing it?

Also what does r2 to and why it so good?

Flawless logic zeemeister. you sure know how to put a convincing point across.

ok watever. doesnt bother me none. Maybe it is blind brand loyalty from you or maybe you are enjoying the game, which doesnt look like by some of your posts a few pages back. i dont really care either way.

Hope they really sort their shit out next year with the new engine, although if gameplay is great and the game modes, atmosphere, menus, commentary, etc are the same ill be really disappointed...again.

The speed, the weight of the ball, the way it made you control the ball and think about what your next move would be. Ping pong passing would be out of the question if more elements of demo 1 made it into the final code.
As for R2, it completely enhances first touch and adds another dimension to dribbling, more so than in any other iteration of pes.
With the right use of the button, we can now control the weight of a pass, the speed of a pass and the overall range of a pass.
The same goes for control, and direction once receiving a pass, not to mention creating space afterwards. The possibilities seem endless to me and I haven't even delved into the minor subtleties myself yet.
R2 combined with R1 at the right time, with the right player, in this game is a true representation of modern football. Something FIFA with all the aesthetics can only dream about.

what aout with jenkeys tool ro modify ball weight and speed etc this can improve game like demo 1

Yea they are. Although I haven't used manual passing but from what I experienced with zero passing it still is stat based. Manual is not, based on some users on here.

Yeah there was a issue with version 1 and the data pack you download for the stadiums, for some reason they clashed and matches with certain teams using the OF would cause the entire console to freeze. Being sorted though. Can't wait.

Not sure to be honest, I've kind of assumed you can still add custom soundtracks like previous versions of the game. If you can still do it, you'd add the mp3 files to your 360 hdd then they should show up in the list of audio files when sorting the playlists in the options menu - though like I say, I don't know for sure.

Just played 2 online matches, both opponents picked Barca :ROLL:. First was against someone from Spain and there was no lag at all, I was on zero assistance and manual shooting! But held my own as Atletico Madrid, he won 1-0 with a screamer in the 81st minute.

Second match was against an opponent from Brazil, and it was completely ruined by the lag :((. Absolutely unplayable. Button presses were registering about 2 seconds after I'd pressed them. Hope this is not a sign of things to come... I'm hoping it was just because it's 3am UK time and no one else is up on PES so it matched me with someone far away.

I am sorry if I upset you. Fifa's gameplay is not for me thanks and I still jizz my pants for PES gameplay.

I may get it at a later stage if it makes you feel any better.
 
FIFA 13 would have been great if the game pace was perfect. Sadly, it isn't. Currently, having a blast with PES. Can't express how much it resembles real football. Go watch a game on TV and then play PES!
 
Let's just say that both games are really far from getting to the complexity and beauty of real life football.I mean watching real football and playing both games is too different.
PES has got a very nice gameplay but some visual and animation aspects of it are an eye torture and FIFA still lacks the tactical nuances of a what football game could be.
