Hmm, I'm not sure about top player any more, the games are enjoyable as ever but I'm getting increasingly frustrated by the CPU pressuring. They're on top of you as soon as the ball reaches your player.
Does anyone have any success with dribbling past people on top player or superstar? Even with the top players in the world, I can't beat a single man. The AI just sprints into you and muscles the ball away with pinpoint precision every time. Very frustrating. I could do some little skills here and there on professional, beat the odd man with the right player, but on top player absolutely nothing works. Ever.

Same thing here... The moment you have the ball the CPU is above you and guess inmediatly all the dribbling that i try to make.
I will try on professional...
have had pes 2013 for a week now, but cant get any games involving brazil to work when the game goes into the opening sequence showing the pitch pre match the game does not progress into the tunnel sequence or to the match. happens in both friendlies and tournaments when playing against the comp. is anyone else experiencing this problem?

In my mail to Konami I told them, after voicing my disappointment about the removal of modes, that they should not dare to send me their standard answer (I copy/pasted it).
So instead, they sent me this:

Guys stop complaining over spilled milk. There is no way to bring back league mode.
Try the jenkeys gameplay tool.
I recommend these
Shot power 115
Ball speed 90
Ball weight 80
Ai level 2
Animation speed 100
It makes the gameplay different. More unpredictable, more exciting.
.Stonger shots (a bit)
.Slower crosses and lobbed passes.
.AI cheat is not working, because of changed ball phusics
.More interceptions
.Double [x] is more effective now
.More explosive gameplay.

Can anyone who's got experience ordering form Shopto give me some advice? I've ordered a standard delivery to my home address. It may arrive tomorrow but I'll be at work the whole day, so that's why I didn't choose 'signed for delivery'.
My mailbox does have enough space for the mail guys to slide it in (some had done it before), but could they be stupid enough not to?
I'm afraid to spend the weekend without PES!...

This is one of the main reasons I stick to Professional, I enjoy the dribbling and its relevance, execution and success. It just feels balanced and rewards you if you nail the R2 mechanics and deft left stick control.
I can beat players still on Top Player, but its less frequent and the CPU anticipation seems a tad unnatural for me.
Zero gives me enough of a challenge with Professional, and I enjoy the games more. It gives me more freedom to express without the heavy spoiler tactics. It's not about winning, more so winning well and being creative.

Does anyone disagree with the following?
If what I have found is the case and after the tests I done I cant see that it wouldnt be, then ML is not worth playing imo. This combined with a terrible online mode and no league mode makes the game pretty pointless.

The overall defending in this game is a joke, apart from the new contain system, nothing has changed from PES 2011/12. The same sequences keep repeating themselves. If the defenders and GK had the correct body stance, so much shit could be avoided.
I've only had the game for six days but I need to take a break for a few days. No other game makes me so angry.

How old are they? You wouldn't really expect players older then 23 to develop much, if at all. Especially in innate attributes like Teamwork. If it's applicable to youth as well then it definitely is an issue.

I'm not certain but maybe you have to play the games instead of simming them? I bought Gyan and his teamwork stat increased slowly as I started him in more games. The bastard started handing in transfer requests after just 6 months though. So I sold his trifling ass for 200% profit
As for defending Tobi, if you're on the higher difficulties, don't even bother using holdup, press or teammate press. The CPU will either skip past you or more likely you'll foul them. Use RT/R2 to manual jockey and double tap A/X when the time is right. 99% of my defending isn't even tackling, it's cutting out the pass lanes and making interceptions. Some games I have as much as 40-50 interceptions and 4 or 5 successive tackles! The CPU by comparison will have 15-20 interceptions and 10-15 tackles.

Very true, but I think I've maybe cracked it! Admittedly I played as Barca then Lyon against weaker opposition but nonetheless my passing was more accurate and faster, which has been a key difference. My last two games were vastly better than before, I've realised that slowing everything down on the ball I.e. not sprinting, opens up so many possibilities even on Top Player.
I trounced the AI 4-0 with Barca then won 3-2 with Lyon. Gorcuff netted twice, the first skinning the defender with a fake shot move then curling it beyond the keeper with an R2 effort, the second using R2 skipped over two challenges before slotting home. Individuality, especially on passing, is magnificent.
My favourite goal was Lopez' winner. Played into the channel, he turns the defender with an R2 trap using body momentum, then rifled it home.

Maybe, just maybe, I'm getting the hang of this now. Zero assistance, 15 minute games and top player is tough but brilliant. You can't just dive in so you have to use defensive mechanics to their fullest, resulting in both teams having good periods of possession. Amazing stuff.

I switched from top player to professional the other day because I wasn't enjoying ml getting smashed every game.
Found that on professional the defenders give you way too much space in their box to shoot didn't feel like I was working hard for my goals.
Moved it back to top player last night and changed my formation (pushed my wingers in more central and put my DMF into an AMF position. Managed to win 4 out of 5 games they were close games but I just had the edge. I found that when defending you need to use the manual contain button and double tap a to tackle. Seem to just sprint past me if I use the auto system.
Had the best matches in a pes game last night for a while
