PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Just thought I would share a video, its of the 1992 Champions League final and while watching it I was struck by how much it resembles PES. Everything about it reminded me of the game, the dribbling, keepers, turns, skills & shots(even some weak and floaty ones). It really makes me scratch my head when I see people say that PES looks nothing like real football and FIFA does :CONFUSE:.

It does make me wish they would really work on ball physics though, they are improved this year but theres so much more to do. There is a bit in the vid of a Barca player taking the ball, it bounces away but the back spin brings the ball back to him, I would love to see things like this in PES.

What PS3 options files have you guys tried if any?

I was waiting for a OPE GTM file but i really want to start a master league in the premiership with all the kits, badges and championship.
I've been away from pes for a long time, what is the best file to get?

I want the best kits, badges, and updates.

Yes, it's R2 and the direction you wish to move to, or, Sprint and R2 + the direction you wish the ball to move to. I use this all the time, both variations. You just have to time it perfectly.

Muchas gracias! So timing is the key, like so much else in this game.. lovin' this!

Talk about player ID to the max, check this *bad quality* video out:

YouTube - C. RONALDO PLAYER ID TO THE MAX

C. Ronaldo who was on a blue arrow, of course since it's Champions League.. got knocked the f*ck down but the CPU didn't kick the ball out. Meanwhile he cries a bit on the pitch holding his leg..
So Pepe had to do what was necessary and then in response knocked Petropoulos off the ball, passes it wide to Di Maria who has oceans of space to turn and give out a weighted pass right into the out of the blue magically recovered Ronaldo who then flicks it into space past his man and scores a Golazooooo!

:APPLAUD:

If you want to see how is the game, how is the A.I. , how is the scripting , you must play BaL.. O.M.G. this mode this year is just make me mad... well like every year !!
And i must agree with PES developers , if they use fox engine , definitely they must put more human emotion to the players, more human movements ... it will be great

I will pray for that.
PES Team now has a great power in his hands. Depends only on them how they use that power...

The question is who will lead that power Seabass or Masuda?

Videos available in HD. :)

The new R2 Clipped High Pass with backspin. Perfect to clear players on tight areas. Love it.

YouTube - PES 13 - R2 High Pass

This is a L2 Manual High Pass from Ronny with R2 aftertouch to reduce the speed of pass.

Loved this L2 Manual High Pass (without R2) drilled crossfield.
YouTube - L2 Manual High Pass

Lovely you have to try the one that you stop your player with R2 then hold R2 press diagonal up twice onto your strong foot and whip a manual long pass the ball flies with accuracy across the pitch. Very good for splaying a switch side ball and the animation looks spot on.

Is there an actual game manual floating around online? I have the digital download version, and it would be nice to see the controls on paper.

I just use manual shot. can be pretty thumping.

Tried it out tonight: Using manual shooting has indeed considerably more oompth and is more in line of how I expect real players to shoot. Great advice! Thanks again!

Now I would really love the game if it weren't for the damn cheating:

I had CPU-players literally going through my players to score. They just start their shooting-animation and anything in between them and the ball becomes a ghost!

Another unbelievable occurrence: A CPU-attacker plays the ball from the right wing into the middle, my goalkeeper comes out and gets within his inner-goal-area to the ball before the CPU attacker gets to it. The goalkeeper slides towards the ball and I thought great, the danger is over... But no! The CPU attacker touches the ball that is within the arms of the goalkeeper at the ground and the ball ghosts through the goalkeeper.

Obviously it wasn't enough to make the goal happen as a defender stood right behind the goalkeeper, so the next unbelievable thing happens: The CPU attacker falls over the goalkeeper, with his head down towards the ball. But it's not his head that shoots the ball on the ground into my goal, he pushes the ball with the right hand, the hand he puts on the ground to prevent his head from crushing on the ground... Yeah, the goal counted... and I switched the match off.

They had it in for you that's for sure.

All of that will be useless if AI routines remain absurd.

Only just read this:

Konami said:
"Dear customer,

Thank you very much for contacting the Konami customer support team.

We are sorry about your disappointment and we understand the League mode was one of the most cherished playing modes for some PES players. However, the decisions made by our PES Team have been directed by:

- the vision of an ever better game experience for our users

- assuring a variety of team and professional players which better represents your preferences

- your suggestions collected over the years, one edition after the other.

We can confirm that there will be other modes to play with your friends and fellows online, such as the Master League Online and, with the data pack available in October, the Online Community mode.

Best regards,

Your Konami Support Team"

So, not content with insulting long-time players with the boots/corporate advertising/ no league mode debacle, Konami's "support team" show utter contempt for anyone who complains by sending them an e-mail which a.) doesn't even make sense and b.) doesn't even try to sound like an honest answer. It's embarrassing.

They've taken out what they understand was a "cherished" mode and replaced it with nothing at all, to provide an "ever better game experience." This decision has been made by "assuring a variety of team and professional players which better represents your preferences" (would it really kill Konami to hire someone who speaks both Japanese and English fluently, and is capable of translating between the two? I mean, this has been an issue for more than ten years now. They're supposed to be a multinational company).

Anyway, never mind the avalanche of complaints - clearly they're outweighed by "years" of suggestions that they should remove League Mode and replace it with nothing. A couple of weeks ago they were saying "well of course we'd think about putting in third kits if anyone seemed remotely enthusiastic about the idea, but actually it's never been suggested to us by anyone ever". This week they're telling us that for years they've been bombarded with demands to remove League Mode and not replace it with anything. They're just taking the piss now.

Still loving the game though.

Sorry, still chuckling. "Your suggestions collected over the years"!!!

Dear Konami,

I am a great fan of your football series "Pro Evolution Soccer". I have bought every installment of the game, even that one where everyone ran like they'd just been bummed by Rocco Siffredi, and that other one where you could press the pass button, put the controller down and make something to eat, pop out to the shop, come home and paint the shed, then return to the PS3 in time to see your player just starting to draw his leg back to kick the ball.

But there's one thing that troubles me about this game. I've noticed that the option exists to play a league season with various teams, in the league where they play in real life. I have to say I am very disappointed by this. Just when I thought you really understood football, you decide to throw THIS into the mix! What was wrong with Master League, where after six months Peter Crouch is playing at left back for Barcelona, Steven Gerrard is the new captain of Manchester United and Cristiano Ronaldo has decided to seek a new challenge at Bolton Wanderers, while a 17-year-old called Alessandro Del Piero (who, by an incredible coincidence, has exactly the same wrinkled face as the 37 year old former Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero) is just beginning to make a name for himself at mighty Finseeberg. What was wrong with 11 men with massive dog heads versus 11 men riding ostriches, played in one of the castles from Castlevania? How do you expect anyone to take this game seriously when you include the option to play in a major European league? What do you hope to achieve by letting people play multiplayer leagues against friends in their own house?

Not only do I find this so-called "league mode" useless and embarrassing, I don't want anyone else to play it either. I have to say, I feel very strongly about that. So please please please remove it from the game and don't replace it with anything. I think everyone would agree that this will provide an ever better game experience for your users, and help you a lot in what is currently your losing battle against EA's FIFA series.

yours sincerely,
Mike Spunk

PS I think critics of the series would find it easier to take Master League seriously if, like a real football manager, you were awarded bananas. I direct you to the following passage from Sir Alex Ferguson's "Managing My Life":

I knew I'd arrived in the big time when I got back to my office at Old Trafford and found a bunch of bananas on my desk.

"They're for the players," said my secretary. "They eat them to keep healthy."

But something was puzzling me. The door had been locked, and only I had the key. No one could possibly have been in the room while I'd been away. Where had these bananas come from?

"No one knows," my secretary replied, looking nervously from side to side. "But it happens at every club. A new manager starts here, and he comes back to find these bananas on his desk. It's a bit spooky. But the chairman says we shouldn't ask too many questions, or else one day the bananas might stop appearing. And then the players would have nothing to eat."

"Couldn't they go to Sainsbury's?" I asked. "They sell bananas there."

"No they don't," she said.

I said I was sure that they did.

"No they don't," she said, more firmly this time, picking up her files and leaving the room.

PPS Magic boots would be nice too.

PPPS I am going to send you this letter every year.

I still cannot execute the R2 Controlled Shot with the inside of the foot as it was on PES6 PS2. Immediately after I press the square button, I press R2 and the player does this new ugly curling the ball animation.

Can someone please post a video showing if the old animation is still in there and how to properly execute it?

thanxxx!

Hold R2 WHILE you press the shoot button for a curling shot. Good for finesse type shots, similar to FIFA.

Press R2 after you've powered up with the shoot button for a controlled side foot shot (good for 1 v 1's in the box).

Oh, pere ubu, that was delicious....

Anyone have any ideas on the cpu tactic of receiving the ball around midfield and then launching a lofted through ball behind my defense into completely open space for my keeper to pick up? They don't even have a striker on the move 80% of the time. Sometimes, for dog's sake, the striker will do it! I think they are playing counter attack, which my guess, in the pes way, is actually some kind of long ball, but non-stop long balls to absolutely no runner into empty space? I don't get it..

I can't wait for my reply from Konami. I'm fully expecting to get the same response word for word as was posted on pesgaming. It's almost as if they let the work experience boy write it for them.

Just got the game an hour ago. Gameplay: Love it. Love every inch of it. Don't know what but something about it reminds me of PES3.

Shooting: What's wrong with it? It is nothing like 2012. Not even close.

ps3 or pc?

i got pc will try 2moro/2day now

LOL pere mate. You have had it with this lot then.

Tbh I am also fed up with konami. I am totally gutted by the shambles that is online. Besides the fact that I can't enter any match rooms and can't find any MLO opponents despite having played PES2011 and PES2012 to death has left a bitter taste in my mouth. For all I care konami can go to hell. They already have my money though and as awesome as the gameplay is what they have done around it is just not on. Seriously comsidering just getting fifa.

Not expecting much of response from them either concerning my online issues. Chances are they going to tell me its my router regardless of me playing every game under the sun including 2011 and 2012.

Don't complain about the shooting later when I score a few past you :P haha just kidding mate. If you're on later I'll give you a game!

PC gamers using the camera editor what to the angle settings mean? I hate the fact that the camera moves when i am shooting in vertical cam and i think it changes my shot.

Haha! We'll see

Btw my connection isn't the best. I'm with Dodo and their connection doesn't help. Off-peak is best time to play online though.

Also, I think I'll have to be on live to play it? As in gold member? Coming from the PS3 I never had to worry about that.
