PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Just got the game an hour ago. Gameplay: Love it. Love every inch of it. Don't know what but something about it reminds me of PES3.

Shooting: What's wrong with it? It is nothing like 2012. Not even close.

Sorry Lami but this is a touch ambiguous – are you complaining about shooting yourself, or just putting the question to those who have complained about it?

maybe read the words straight after that ? :PIRATE:

Yes but it's not clear if he's in favour of PES2013's shooting being unlike PES2012's shooting, or otherwise.

I'm interested because of how the PES2013 shooting question has been handled over the past week. For my money, PES2013's shooting is so different from PES2012's (and so much better) that claiming it's the same is like saying black is white. I can see that Lami is not saying that, but some odd people liked PES2012's shooting, and he might be one of them.

I believe he is asking the question to all those who said 1 week ago that shooting was worse in the retail code than the demo. The same people that had me fuming until I played the game myself and realised that shooting was in fact very good!

True, but on the other hand... Could see that happen irl xD.

I think the situation itself is realistic - e.g. if the keeper gets caught out as to the ball's flight or power, he could parry it in like that. No problem with it.

The only thing going against PES at the moment is that sometimes the animation can make it "appear" that the game is cheating, when in fact it's probably a less than optimal animation which gives that impression.

p.s. nice goal :P

Haha! We'll see

Btw my connection isn't the best. I'm with Dodo and their connection doesn't help. Off-peak is best time to play online though.

Also, I think I'll have to be on live to play it? As in gold member? Coming from the PS3 I never had to worry about that.

What time is off-peak? Yeah you need Live Gold to play I think. I get mine through Game Card online for about $50 for a year as opposed to the normal price of $80 or so.

PC gamers using the camera editor what to the angle settings mean? I hate the fact that the camera moves when i am shooting in vertical cam and i think it changes my shot.

A single person can do in hours what konami hasn't done for years...i want new cameras for the october patch or i am selling this game.

And who the f. decided to use a broadcast camera that zooms on the player? it makes it unplayble in crucial moments!

And broadcast is not available to play on line? why is that?

So many little things kill the enjoyment.

I'm one of those that were not happy with the shooting in the retail version. It lacked zip... until I tried manual shooting, which has enough oompth... go figure! Now I'm happy with the shooting.

But the cheating...

Had another fantastic match last night, tried a 15 minute game on Top Player, zero assists. FINALLY won a match at the tenth time of asking, 1-0, me as inter and the CPU as a low level French team...so still much improvement to be made.

With the game time set to 15 mins it was fantastic, most of the play took place in midfield, with realistic errors from both sides. I just love the passing mechanics. I'm still all over the place with passing with all but the best players, that is unless you hold R2 whole passing. It really makes it more accurate as a controlled pass but the trade off is that you need to slow yourself down to do it. I also discovered that sprinting on the ball is a big no-no.

Anyways I won the game 1-0, keeper pulled off a great parry from an R2 curler before Milito smashed in the rebound from an acute angle, went in like a rocket skidding along the ground. Shooting is so varied.

The stats finished 52-48 in possession, which is odd because it felt like I was second best for large periods of the game, I had only 78% pass accuracy to 79% from the CPU, with 4 shots to the CPU's 7. I think I've found my ML settings for when the fixed Daymos Option file is released :))

LOL pere mate. You have had it with this lot then.

Tbh I am also fed up with konami. I am totally gutted by the shambles that is online. Besides the fact that I can't enter any match rooms and can't find any MLO opponents despite having played PES2011 and PES2012 to death has left a bitter taste in my mouth. For all I care konami can go to hell. They already have my money though and as awesome as the gameplay is what they have done around it is just not on. Seriously comsidering just getting fifa.

Not expecting much of response from them either concerning my online issues. Chances are they going to tell me its my router regardless of me playing every game under the sun including 2011 and 2012.

:CONFUSE:

I know this sounds crazy bud, but me and Rossi have had the same problems as yourself on a few occasions. We sorted this by restarting our PS3's after initially trying to connect online, but failing. On all 3 occasions that we have done this, it's worked. Strange but true. Good luck if you haven't already tried it.

@Pere :LOL:

You have only just started playing 15 minute games ? :CONFUSE:

My word, 15 minute games is a A MUST. The balance of the play changes dramatically when playing the CPU and also human on this setting and above.

I'm currently hitting between 83-91% on my passing accuracy with Atletico Minero on Zero. Loving it.

I'll try mate but my patience is waining. I can only play SA peeps and they assisted so that unbelievably awesome gameplay is diluted.

I miss my peelers :(
And konami are pissing me off.

Disagree, totally.

The ball was bobbling and kicked up, it only need to be 6 inches off the deck to heel flick it like that. He has just used the momentum and the kick off the turf.
It doesn't look six inches off the deck (remember the ball itself is less than 9 inches in diameter), and crucially the forward rotation of the ball would make it even more likely to roll off the heel than be lifted up. It's a bit of a sand wedge job, as if he had his feet on the wrong way round.

(for the record, I don't mind seeing things like this in a game - I'm only debating the assertion that it's perfect physics)

Never played a 15 minute game on pes before does it really change how the game is played or just placebo? Gonna have to try it myself but ive never seen konami mention the game plays different on longer time settings.

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough, but yes I'm definitely loving 2013's shooting.

Off peak for me is any time between 12am - 5pm. When everyone's working/sleeping.

Game arrived in Iceland yesterday and of course I bought it last night. Had a quick go at a World Cup with Romania, scored one goal but was thoroughly kicked out on Professional level with one point after the group stage. I had fun with the gameplay, though.
At this time I decided like a madman to start a Master League. I kind of ran through the start as I new I'd have a proper go at it later. Picked Ajax as always and was properly dissapointed that you have to start in the crap league with Stragalursky (or whatever) and the likes. I knew about the new names in the team and it hadn't bothered me that much, until I realized I'd have to learn my teams strengts all over again. I played one training match against Braga, again I enjoyed the gameplay but lost, 1-2. At this point I earned a nickname which for some reason was not "The Loser". I got a pair of boots, and after much searching for how on earth it's done, assigned them to Minandinho. Someone who must be the the lovechild of legendary Minanda and Ronaldinho, deserves proper footwear.

At this point I quit and started a new ML in South America. Made my manager fat in the face and with a cap, so he looks like a total douche. I breathed a sigh of relief that I was already in the proper league with my team and quit, for the time being.

I then went around the game, perusing the various game modes in detail. It didn't take long. Konami Cup is damaged, again, by not having the option to select either random national teams, or club teams. Please tell me the option is there and I am just blind. Of course, even with carefully picking each club team for Konami cup it's still useless until I get a proper option file. Picking random clubs for Konami cup was the most fun I got out of PES 3 back in the day, again one of those things Konami changed for no reason but to be weird.

So for now, the only meaningful game modes for me are the Copa, which I'm sure is brilliant, apart from those nicknames they've managed to cram into every game mode, and the Champions League. I'm two games into the latter with Ajax (proper Ajax this time) and have a draw and a loss, the loss being against PSG and their unstoppable scoring machine called Ibra.

About the gameplay, I am nowhere near getting a handle on it, zero bars, professional, I struggle to get into a rhythm and the cpu bullies me into cheap tactics, long balls, through balls, etc. pressing R2 to create a bit of space just doesn't dazzle the defenders as it did in 2012. Shooting seems excellent though. I played a friendly with Liverpool and got some brilliant shots out of Gerrad and even got Agger on a couple of runs up field for long shots which looked ace! I didn't score, though. But I'll get there and as things are going, it will be a fun ride. A bit limited (sans league) but fun.

I would in fact suggest 20 minute games. I don't think it is just placebo. I seem to have more time on the ball, and the cpu plays slightly more build up. The possession rates are better. However, with the increased time and chances, my passing goes down to about 71-75% (good news, the cpu passing also stays in the 70s).

My defenders found the Ado Den Haag man quite literally "unplayable"...

@ Jimmy G -

Great videos on page 319 of manual passing and all the variants and tweaks possible with R2 and the like. Can I just ask what Stadium you are playing those clips/match in ?

--------

I am really getting into this game now after a weekend and early week that afforded me nowhere near enough time to have a proper go on it.

I have been playing FIFA on full manual the last couple of years and so I am rusty with all things PES this generation.

But I bumped the time up to 15 mins and it makes the game and me as a player ebb and flow much better - with better stats at the end also.

played a game as QPR v Southampton and it was a dream and ended with a 3-2 win to me in which I was lucky to hang on.

I am playing with 0 passing assistance and now changed to Full manual shooting and all assists off.

Only way this could be more manual/difficult would be to take the guidance arrow off and tape L2 down . . . perhaps in the months to come.

I urge ANYONE who has not tried Full Manual shooting to give it a go - it's dreamy and I am not missing by the amount people have reported (going off 90 degrees to my right or left) only by a realistic looking amount that players could/would miss by IRL.

One last thing I love and will mention is the modified Low shot - L2 + Square + Triangle soon after . . . this can also be tweaked/modified by holding or pressing R2 at same time for a sweet low hard sidefooted TH14 style finish in the corner.

Amazing the amount of variables and options we have to play with when you use manual controls.

As a former FIFA manual player for me personally PES has the much better and more intuitive system . . . Manual is now for everyone, not just for those who seek difficulty and challenge.

Go do it.

How the hell do you dribble? Can anyone post a guide. Everytime i try to do a move in context of where i am, the cpu just takes it off me.

can some verify to me if you can use blimp cam online on PS3 or not?

I'm really having a rough time in MLO playing better teams and using manual controls.. I tried to switch to blimp cam while in an online game last night but I didn't see it.

offline i used it against the computer for testing.. I think if I can use this online it will be much easier for me to beat the pressing with manual passes
