PES 2013 Discussion Thread

The ai need stat boosts to make it challenging but can make it frustrating I agree. They said with the new engine they can make big ai improvements so hopefully it will level the ground and make them play more human like.

Still loving the ml on top player, even matches and you can really feel the individuality in this game, signed amf to play behind the striker. Even though his only rated 66 his a cut above everyone else, great finisher and skills he is top of the d2 goal charts with 5 goals, got a few assists as well.

My goalkeeper is a retard though who stands by the post when a player is in the centre of the pitch about to shoot? WTF. Replacing him as soon as I get the chance

I'm on 0 speed, 0 assist and Professional. Maybe with the shooting you need to learn to take on some players and generate that bit of space so you can line one up and spank it. The AI is usually good at closing down space if you just try and pass it around - which I've been guilty of before.

If I get a couple of yards, I try and get a shot in. Finding the accuracy/error rate pretty realistic so far. If you want the low drive, you can hit a manual shot with the modifier and press through ball after. Or just turn on manual shooting and it's one less button press.

From PESGaming forum:

I have finally got a reply from Konami about League Mode and it doesnt sound promising-

"Dear customer,

Thank you very much for contacting the Konami customer support team.

We are sorry about your disappointment and we understand the League mode was one of the most cherished playing modes for some PES players. However, the decisions made by our PES Team have been directed by:

- the vision of an ever better game experience for our users

- assuring a variety of team and professional players which better represents your preferences

- your suggestions collected over the years, one edition after the other.

We can confirm that there will be other modes to play with your friends and fellows online, such as the Master League Online and, with the data pack available in October, the Online Community mode.

Best regards,

Your Konami Support Team"

Load of bollocks if you ask me, if theyd collected our suggestions over the years im sure none would say remove league mode, but i bet a lot would have asked for a multiplayer master league, ever better game? my arse, come on konami get your finger out.

Goto https://uk.secure.konami-europe.com/support.do and hammer them with your emails complaining about lack of league mode

if this is their way to deal with it, it will be my last PES until they have good gameplay and propper game modes.
it's ridicolous - the gameplay is great but everything besides that is crap.

Agreeing with folk finding more & more AI cheating as ML progresses. I'm only 15 games into my first season. Using Professional and one-bar assistance. Nothing to complain about in the first 5 games, the odd hint or so coming in by around game 10 and then in the 5 matches I played last night, the last four were increasingly annoying. In each of those four final matches, I conceded late on to rebounds being tucked away after the keeper parries to the CPU player. Each time there's plenty of my defenders nearby but always the ball will go to the enemy and my defence react about as fast as sloths in quicksand, super-cancel or not. You just know it's coming, it's really frustrating especially when you whack everyone back in defence for the last 10 minutes expecting the parried shot and it still will only drop to their attacker.

In PES2012, I was getting annoyed with the scripting during my second season in ML. It remains to be seen whether it's just got worse this year or whether I come down harder on it due to playing 15 seasons on ML last term.

I think I've cracked it in terms of what plays best for me. Professional was just too easy, but the pressure and gamespeed seemed outrageous at times on anything higher. So...for me guys, it's Superstar level, 15 minute games, zero assists, -1 gamespeed. It gives me the right CPU pressure balance but I do still have that second or so longer on the ball to play zero assist and to track the CPU through balls and ping pong passing. Three consecutive games with it and now it feels second nature.

PS - it also seems to accentuate player movement so it seems to show more clearly the difference between say Coates who turns like a truck and Suarez who is nimble and agile. And more importantly, -1 gamespeed gives me the time to get my defensive positioning in order and gives me that time I need in the final third to play some creative stuff.

Really hope when we get the online community mode through DLC we'll get the offline mode with it.. Otherwise Friday night with friends will be ruined :( It's an awesome mode with nice stats that shows who had the most wins, most possession, highest goals, head to head results etc.. We use it to create our own league within us too..

This game is all about on line manual games.

Too bad you can't filter manual games on MLO so MLO is a no option

And in ranked game you can only filter manual passes but not manual shooting, so if you meet someone with assisted shooting it is no fair.

I find ML very boring, can't stand any cutscenes or the menu' system with all its intricacies.

So only game mode for me is ranked on line hoping to find fair manual players.

Not sure they deserved my money though. Taking away game modes and features is really a game killer.

After some unbelievable matches in my new Brasilian ML last night, I have to say, for me personally, the passing on Zero is as close to perfect as I could have ever hoped or believed it could be. Incredible just doesn't do it justice.

The Player Individuality on the passing with the great players, average players and poor players is perfectly balanced. I bought the cheapest player I could find with the Weighted-Pass Player Card, and he was an absolute relevation on the ball. His range of passing is sublime, he feels totally assisted compared to everyone bar Ronny.

I'll be in the ML thread posting my early adventures later. :WOOT:

Also, I'm loving the offside calls and the animtions of the players when you slip that perfect pass in. They appeal, stop, look around, and your convinced you were offside, but your not. That feels to organice and realistic and always makes me smile.

I already said thank you again to konami new game. Wish all of you many good games in most non realisitc gameplay ever and most dramatic sound of football games ever.

Wow, they must've gotten their absolute experts on customer communication to come up with this "great" reply...

I received an even better reply. They said league mode was put into the Master league for a better game experience!!!!

Another 10+ games on this last night and it's confirmed that most of my time will be spent on FIFA.

The attacking AI is so frustrating where they stand around, ghosting through players, forcefields stopping my player from getting close to the AI, poor keepers, basketball CPU AI, far too easy to keep possession ... just a frustrating experience.

It really doesn't feel like much of a difference from PES 2012 after playing more and more games.

Just another quickie about the Zero Assistance passing that is constantly blowing my mind. The way they have combined stats and user skill is brilliant. I'm finding that lesser players have their power bar fill up quicker than the more accomplised passers. Which in turn creates a higher user skill to get the same results. I've found the lesser players, such as my defenders, have a lot less success or assistance with both the shorter and the longer passes, but the Playmakers, have so much more room for error with the user input. Awesome, awesome system. I genuinely feel that there is no pass I can't make, especially with the better players. I've never felt even half of this freedom on any PES to date. And I'm playing with Atletico Minero by the way. :TU:

Also, a few other things I noticed last night -

The 'Nicknames' that you can earn playing in the ML offline competition are there for you to choose when setting up an Online I.D. They don't, as far as I can see, relate to offline in any way.

The Bananna's and such like that you can earn online, relate to items to be used in Offline ML and possible Online ML (not checked that yet). Bananna's reduce team fatigue. So at least there is a genuine relevance.

The Training Items I actually like, it's not so different to personal training, just with eye candy, and I like the way you can issue them per player. I bought some Training Poles to give one of my wingers some dribbling training. Also, the boot's, as I thought, don't bother me at all. Strangely enough, in previous PES ML campaigns over the years, I would often kit my players out with new boots, especially my strikers if they were going through a dry spell. It was always obviously placebo, but the amount of times I had success after issuing a new set of boots always made me smile. So for me, this really isn't much different.

Lastly, and this is something I definitely need to confirm, is that chants now play out for Home and Away supporters. If this is the case, then I'm a very, very happy man.

The reason I think this maybe the case, is because during a Brasilian League Cup Match last night away from home, I heard the Atletico chants that I had installed being played out. Now, this only ever happened before in Cup or League games when your playing at home. I hadn't installed any chants for Corinthians, so there was no mistake in that regard. I really hope this is actually the case, as I can't see any other reason to hear my Atletico chants.

Also the atmosphere and default chants in the Brasilian league are so much better than anything PES has done before, the atmosphere is very South American and very authentic.

Playing a La Liga mach is so much better when it comes to atmosphere and audio in general. I wonder if I chose Spain default chants for the English teams will make it more..Entertaining..

Yeah, bananas are great. How many matches do you think we have to win until we earn ourselves some apples? An apple a day keeps the doctor away, you know.

yeah thats definetely the case, been a few times where ive tried snap shots and whatnot with poor players only to see it sky over because the power bar filled up to quick

i still think body positioning should be taken into account more. theyve advanced it wonder from the arcadey demo1, however there are still times when ive facing the complete opposite direction and i can still pick a ridiculous shot/chip through ball off. there should be more times where i feel my player physically cannot pull that pass/shot off - not that it will result in a low powered/poor pass, but that my player will physically not be able to do it, and will fall over or something on attempt

this would tie in with a 'balance' stat, which i have no idea why the hell is not in the game

Shooting is imho very unsatisfactory in the retail version. Even when having space and time, the right balance and what not and making a successful strong shot that leads to a goal, it doesn't offer the zip and satisfaction offered in demo1 or demo2.

Totally disagree, they have it spot on in my opinion. It's all real-life technique and stat related. How anyone could want the ridiculously overpowered shooting from Demo 1 is beyond me. And Henry, bananna's are actually a very popular pre-match or training snack for footballers. Just saying. ;)

Videos available in HD. :)

The new R2 Clipped High Pass with backspin. Perfect to clear players on tight areas. Love it.

This is a L2 Manual High Pass from Ronny with R2 aftertouch to reduce the speed of pass.

Loved this L2 Manual High Pass (without R2) drilled crossfield.

This suggests to me they don't even intend to ever bring back the league mode.So much for the "fox engine" next year, you give a great tool to someone whose the decision making is really stupid then the tool is useless.
They're gonna bury their game in the coming years by making the same sort of shitty mistakes

Well the fox engine isn't gonna change Konami as a company, that's for sure. No new piece of tech or hardware will change the fact that Konami are absolutely batshit crazy.

are you sure pressing R2 after powering up actually does something, or possible placebo ?

wish they would have everything possible in the command list

Pressing R2 after or during does the same thing Matty.

You can see the difference in the drilled pass and the floated Ronny pass. One with R2 and one without.

Edit - They never do list all the benefits of R2. You can even take weight off a High-Throughball by pressing R2 afterwards. Also, hold R2 and press X for a more controlled short pass for better success with lesser players.

You've gotta admire Jimmy G's enthusiasm for the game when he finds the good in a bunch of Master League bananas. :P
