PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

Lol I was having a gander at ML and have seen that all the famous ML default players have been replaced. Noooo! No more Ordaz and co. instead they've been replaced by a bunch of players with the most ridiculous names that virtually have no vowels in. I particularly like the name of the CB called 'Draivqewey'and 'Tzarqamilov'. Who seriously decides this at Konami? Seriously. Could not one person in the the entire company pipe up and say "y'know what would be better? Let's use random surnames from various nations that actually exist and that people can actually pronounce." Konami are utterly batshit crazy.

I'm also majorly disappointed at having no more Palmieri, Shimizu, Schwarz etc in the youth team. They've become these bizarre PES celebrities that I look forward to using from game to game, you get really attached to your default players over each ML, so to see all the players have been replaced with a bunch of guys like 'Iorgenxqxqxqgfddffec' is ridiculous.

I know just started a ml and can't pronounce any of their names, what were they thinking? Thankfully I've managed to sign 4 new players in the transfer window so they will be the focal point of my team. The sooner I get rid of these weird named players the better!

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

well we played euro competition with my friends during the summer with jenkey's patch, turning of the ai scripting and...we took a break, turn off the game, then turn on again later and started it with the wrong/original exe...and IT WAS HORRIBLE! try it for yourself, u will see that not sure that player wins the game who plays better but wich is choosen as the winner in the script

im not against scripting completly , this is how konami can sell its game for childs and girls aswell who never played it yet even though can have succes right from the start ;) it means more money, good feature, just wish it can be turned off or there would be 2 type of pro evo like back then...one for beginners, one for experts

jenkey patch turns off ai scripting..how did he make such a program>

What was the exact scripting?

And how does it make it easier for girls and kids? U mean onlower difficulty it favours things for the players eg..cpu liekly to miss shots and misplace passes

But on higher difficulaty it makes them score and win balls they should not win?

SUrely scritping is just written into difficulty levels? So in that the harder difficulty you play the scripting would be such that cpu can score easier and prevent you from scoring? BUt at middle level or pro rather than top player or superstar/world class surely there is a balance in the scripting? Or this lvl is still to easy for some of you?

Lucky i play only proffesional or regular so i guess the cpu does not make as crazy scriptign as i presume it does on superstar or the top levels?

I was complaining about this on here last week. It's not like someone from Wales is going to sue Konami if they give a default player a real name like Jones, it's ridiculous.

I started the ML with the Brazilian team Náutico and the default player names aren't as bad as the European players and at least there nationality is from the South American continent as I was worried I'd have Swedish and German players which would have broken my immersion.

im talking about human vs human games, not sure about vs cpu matches, but just try the 2012 with jenkey's gameplay patch and without it for an afternoon with a friend, and u will see what im talking about

last night played 2 on 2 matches and my team won with ease...9-1 in a 15 min match , on superstar lvl...ridicilous and we werent that better then the other 2 guys and even then not just the scoreline that matters it could have been a 2-1 with the cpu not letting them to score an equalizer not even if the goal line would empty, because its scripted that what i mean under this...and i dont enjoy that at all

Why would the CPu script human vs human mactehs I dotn belive they would program that all...

I understand they might script matches agaisnt cpu but IMO human v human matches will be controlled by the players and the stats of the in game players no scripts at all.

Why would konami want to script human matches..They wouldnt

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

sad thing isnt?

btw every sport game has this feature, this is how they can sell the game to wider range of people , eg. a 4 year old girl can enjoy it and beat me if the cpu doesnt allow me to score , clever idea btw, i hope they did a good resarch regarding this because im not gonna buy the next instalments, just like the hardcore fans but "regular users" will

I dont belive you..prove it lol.

There is no way a human vs human game has scropting.

I play all kinda sports game but mainly pes/fifa.

I have freind I know that are good, on my level and freinds that are crap...Wehn i play my crap freinds I chose if I want to beat them 10-0 or take it easy and beat them only 3-1...and let them shoot at goal. I can score whenever I want and can prevent them scoring/take the ball from them whenever i want cause im so much better than them.

My other freinds who play a lot well games are close and can go either way. I cannot control if i score or get the ball back etc.

IMO there is no scripting at all in human vs human games

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

Played Winning Eleven since PS2 days, then moved over to FIFA 10, 11 and 12. EA really upped their game and did have the best footy game in FIFA 12.

However, I really feel that PS3 PES2013 is the best football game i have ever played. The introduction of the L2 manual passing provides incredible variety and precision. The unpredictability, stamina and the unique feel of each player is very pronounced in this version. Shooting is also spot on. Getting to grips with the new R2 dribbling but like it so far.

Improvements needed:
1) still think the PES animations are more awkward than FIFA, although an earlier post mentioned correctly that FIFA animations drag out a bit long to make it a bit unresponsive. I also found the defending in FIFA too indirect to the point that I felt my players were running through treacle.

2) Can we turn off the replays? Seems to stutter slightly at low frame rate... ruins the effect

3) I also like the Blimp camera alot, although there needs to be customization for other views as the jump from Blimp to Wide seems too much.

4) league mode - wtf? why not keep it in?

5) master league boots boost - if this is true, then its a bit silly really.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

IMO there is no scripting at all in human vs human games

Offline there's no scripting in human v human games.

Online there's a LOT... or there was in PES2012. Haven't been online with this version yet.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

Have to agree regards zero assistance this year - it really is rather spectacular playing the game this way and I too think the COM AI adjusts accordingly and is prone to error. I do think that on Top Player there could just be that little less strength and resilience shown on the ball by the AI and for it to show more in the way of tackling error. So far I am pretty damn happy in spite of it taking some time for me to get there.

I can't stress enough how important off ball defence approach is this year on higher difficulties, along with showing respect to the tactical side of the game. On PESFan there is outrage over the effectiveness of the AI's through balls and how the defensive AI is allegedly dumb. While it ain't perfect, I am not encountering much problems with through balls.

I think a lot of this has to do with how hard wired people are when it comes to defending, given how footy games before have allowed you to just spam pressure or double team and get away with it. PES2013 and to a lesser extent PES2012 demand that you think a play or so ahead in defence and that is where off ball defence comes into it's own. I also think many folk don't utilise man marking, tactics, pro-active use of attack defence emphasis and the secret methods to defending well, like not holding sprint when about to slide tackle as it increases chances of the defender performing hook slides, or using super cancel to barge. I will concede Konami don't do a great job of projecting the importance of these methods though.

KONAMI never have since PES1. Arguably never in any other WE/ISS game. With the exception of their Guides (PES6-'08 only maybe?) which a lot of folks didn't even know about or cared to read.

I've played in several PES tournaments in PS2 and early PS3 days and i can tell you that arguably 5% only ever used Super Cancel. Shot cancel with shot + :r1:+:r2:, so the keeper would just go to the ground and i'd go for the easy tap in.. "What's that is what they asked me?"

Online same thing, till this day. Let alone all the other intricacies like the magical :r2: for traps or for pass/go (been there since PES3 i think) so you could make diagonal runs. Or to make yourself 'wide' to take it on the chest etc. Now you can even use it for more controlled passes, which arguably no one with the exception of non-assisted players even know.

On the topic of through balls, and team defence vs AI.
I've noticed if you play with lower position switch that your team-formation as a whole stays in position better ESPECIALLY in defence/counter. Granted the players and the formation they stand in, need to be balanced out with the tactic sliders, but in general it's the position switch slider that fucks it up bigtime.

I also think that people don't understand the meaning of playing 'pressure', let alone high pressure. Back in the day pressure meant, press :square: (secondary press), and try and block the 'obvious' passing lane, and because the game was basically 8 directions, you could braindead defend. That's why everybody still love the old ps2 PES games, because everyone knows this.. it's easy and consistent.
But now with more direction in aiming, individuality, off the ball control, more contextual and variable dribbling skills and what not, we get more freedom but so does the opposition.. So you can't always 'just pressure' and block the obvious passing route, which could very easily result in misreading the intentions of the passer, thus fucking up your organization by opening/creating space elsewhere, or better yet using the space you made (gave away) to their advantage.

You're completely right in the sense that we need to read or at least try to read 2-3 steps ahead, in terms of where the true danger might come from. Because back then 'we' didn't have to.

Then there's also the 'reversed' defensive mindset as in, do you want the oppositions Ozil on the ball or Khedira? Some might go for Khedira because he's not a good dribbler so it might be easier to take the ball off of him. But sometimes, depending on the situation, it's better to let him 'slide', because he's not known for his exceptional passing (in this case) and try to block for ex, Alonso / Ozil because of the killer pass/oversight they have on the play. There are countless of these examples.
With the exception of blind passing accuracy (could be toned down way more imo), player awareness and a few little clipping bugs, it's quite advanced but in that regard truly lifelike, some will probably never see or understand it though.

I disagree %1000 , JENKEYS pactches did not replicate the gameplay in 2013, not even close

you still don't get it.

my post was addressing posts by Lami and other people who said they had noticed that PC users were quicker to complain about the game and I gave my opinion on why that might be. i said that a "fixed"/"modded" PC version of 2012 could be the reason for PC users whining because a patched 2012 was much better than the stock game. the improvements in 2013 might not feel as drastic for those users when compared to console users thus leading to the extra criticism.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

I have no idea, I think it's stupid too.

My guess is that they think it makes the game more exciting. In fact it makes it less exciting, because suddenly it's not a contest. It was the worst thing about PES 2012 for me, because even when you were playing vs a good opponent who played the right way, it was impossible to stop the computer "forcing" a game sometimes.

I cantbelvie it?

so u are saying that its programmed like a catch up thing if you are winning by 2 goals all of a sudden his goalkeeper improves and your players make unforced errors etc?

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

Removing scripting? Without game source code?

Dream on, dream on ;).

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

Not sure on that. I've copped a couple of hammerings in MLO because of the default players being underpowered. I did a clean out last night and brought in a better keeper and centre back alongside Eduardo up front and some Argentine AMF. Albigaga or something like that LOL.

Had some cracking games though. The only bad game I've had so far is where some guy played with a 5-0-5 formation and spammed through balls to Di Natale. The rest have been good, fair hit outs. But noticeably harder if you play with mainly the defaults now as people are starting to buy a few decent players.

What is MLO like?

U start with deafult and get money for wins, then with money u buy players?

Is there a league system or u just play random games?

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

Just found out that form arrows will be random every match in MLO :D Hated the fact in PES2012 that you had to look for players with good form arrows every week. Will try to recreate my PES2011 team. :)

So far, so good. I get that good feeling back like in PES 2011. Yeah, default players. Transfer fees plus contract lengths. So far it seems like a nice mix between the last 2 years.

The games were very even at the start and now a couple of days in, you can feel the lack of responsiveness from some of the defaults. You can still defend well with intelligent tracking, but the defenders poor passing will catch you out if you try and play out from the back.

I've now upgraded my keeper, centre back and attacking midfield whilst selling off some deadwood. Basically, I like to scour through the ratings of each player when I'm buying someone new. If he's a defender, I'd like good responsiveness, speed and passing. Overall stat doesn't matter for me.

With my defensive midfielder I looked at speed and tenacity. With my keeper, I look for goalkeeping skills and responsiveness and maybe tenacity as I think they come off their line with more conviction?

@Interista - I brought in Eduardo as a tribute to my 2011 team :) Next stop should be Cahill and then Cisse :P

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

I recently (infact the same day I got the game) bought the logitech Z906 surround sound. The amount of things we miss without a sub woofer is unbelievable. Playing argentina vs Brazil sounded like a bloddy carnivaal. It is pretty awesome. Also when playing wiht EPL teams you got a more chantlike sound.

Its amazing how much of the sound is literally lost on our standard tv or flat panel speakers. I justwish they would fix up that god awful commentary.

I played champions league lastnight with barcelona on top player 0 assist passing. Wow after drawing 1-1 in the first game I made a few tactical changes and decided to try and play barcelonas style by only passing if I am 100% certain it is going to reach the recipient. By the 4th match I was playing small 1-2s around the box barca style. Almost every goal was a replay worth and using messi is just sick. Love it love it love it.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

I have a sub hooked up as well and you're right - those banging drums sound great. Current flat panels don't have great speakers because they're trying to be as thin and sleek as possible.

My older 68cm CRT TV has some very nice speakers, even for a cheaper brand, simply because they have room on the sides to stick them on. I think there's also a nice set of speakers on a Sony TV that's about 5 years old. Can't remember the model name, but they have these columns on the side of the screen with speakers and sound pretty good.

Yairs patch for 2013 defo improves the game especially the goalies..with kitserver and camera patch recreating fifas dynamic camera the game is much better on pc version now

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

The AI's through balls are doing my head in. It's the only way they score! Just played Fulham, it ended 2-2, they had two shots all game and they both came from unstoppable through balls.

This is my biggest issue as well! Its starting to become a gamebreaker. What bugs me the most is not the constant counter attack/through balls by the computer, but the scripting of it! The ball will literally roll over my defenders shoes with no attempt to intercept it!
Last night Robben scored a goal against me, where he went through my defender, and when i say through I mean through :)

I'm really trying to like the game, but I'm struggling right now I must admit..

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

How do you shield the ball?

And how do you perform controlled low shots with the inside of the boot on 1 v 1 against GK?

Has this been removed? I want the old realistic looking animation of R2 where you see the players body adjust to perform this finish.

To shield the ball you've got to be in between the ball and the opponent. So you're leaning into him. Let go of all buttons and it will do the shield animation, then you can move the left stick and press sprint to break out of it and gain a yard.

With the controlled finish, I saw this animation on Demo 1 - what I think you'd need to do is be no further than the 18 yard box, after you power up the shot press R2 and it should give you a nice side footed finish. If you hold R2 before and during the power up, it will give you the new curling type shot.

Sometimes you can give the shoot button a very light tap to sidefoot it but it's usually safer to press R2 afterwards.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

It finally clicked for me yesterday.

Some key points I'd read on here have really made a difference to the gameplay:

The R2 brief touch, followed by a tap on Sprint brings a whole new dimension to dribbling.

Pressure - rather than pressing the opposition high up field I now try to mark the gaps and force the CPU to play around me. It leads to very varied games and less basket-ball style attack v defence.

Tactics - As I like to stick to something as real as possible I was reluctant to change Liverpool's 4-3-3 system but having bit the bullet, I now see how finding the right formation for my style and those of the squad has made a massive difference to the rhythm of my play.

Today I've read (on here) about moving back to 0 assistance will give me a greater appreciation of those who can pass the ball so I'll try that again tonight.

Oh, and I agree, offline ML is a lot better this year without the player moaning/chairman demands etc. Really enjoying this mode even though I've only had 3 wins in 15(ish) games so far.

I suppose you could say it's realistic as I'm playing as LFC and I'm in the bottom three ;-p
