PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

I found wing play was largely uninteresting because of how difficult/unsatisfying it was to beat one man, and try them for pace. You can't seem to do that in this game, you just get locked in that damn animation and fall over the ball. The game forces you to use the pre set tricks and skills/ dashes to get past one player, and I personally dislike this.

If there's one thing PES doesn't force you to do its that. The movement physics of the game - momentum and inertia - mean you can actually beat players by just using the contextual dribbling of the left stick and R2 for close control as well. You don't have to use tricks, although the odd touch/wiggle of the right stick to do a step over or feint can help at times.

I used to find dribbling hard to, its not an exact science but when it comes off its so satisfying. Of course stats also heavily influence it as well.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

i had the same problem to on demos, you cant beat your man, i posted that annoyance on here a few times actually, but i always knew vs humans that wouldnt be the case, and it isnt, against humans its awesome

I'm still playing the demo #2 bc I don't get the game until Tuesday but I think it also depends what level your playing at. On regular I can dribble past defenders on the wing quite easy actually and I don't do any tricks or skills..
now when I play on top player I can't do this as easy and it's very tough.

I never thought to even play on Regular after drawing some matches on Super Star or winning some on Top Player.. because I thought I would win easy quite honestly. I actually tried it after watching that video posted earlier on regular with Ajax vs Madrid by info.. the computer AI still will punish you even though you have plenty more time on the ball and so on and you can more easily get past defenders at times. I think if your having trouble dribbling past defenders... try dropping the level your playing at you might have better luck but still surprisingly have a computer AI that will still score on you and punish you when you think you were probably too good for that level. at last that is what i experienced. lol it seems like the computer AI still finishes as well on Regular as they do on Top player for example.

if there's one thing PES doesn't force you to do its that.

totally agree.. this game does NOT force you to do tricks and skills imo

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

My only problem is BAL. I like the rest of the game but i am addicted to BAL.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

But a goal like that is too far the other way, it's crazy. I know it sounds contradictory of me now, but I wouldn't want to dribble like THAT with a player of that ability. If that is online I'd argue that makes a difference. The CPU can read where your going much better than a human opponent can.

The argument in my original post came from extended play today against the CPU, where I found wing play was largely uninteresting because of how difficult/unsatisfying it was to beat one man, and try them for pace. You can't seem to do that in this game, you just get locked in that damn animation and fall over the ball. The game forces you to use the pre set tricks and skills/ dashes to get past one player, and I personally dislike this.

After having no luck on the wing I played possession, keeping the ball in their half, probing outside the box waiting for the gap then slotting in a through ball to score. I just feel like there's only one way to play against CPU atm, however, despite all that negativity, I still want to play more and see if it will grow on me.

If you are having difficulty beating a man or just finding space I recommend editing link feints so as you have only one move assigned to each L1 + direction prompt.

I have assigned quick turn left when I press L1 + up when player is facing right, and quick turn right assigned to L1 + down when again facing right. This means I have very basic but effective quick turning moves at my disposal without having to worry too much about getting stick prompts correct beyond holding L1 and flicking the stick. I have yet to settle on what I will assign to left and right.

EDIT: I should add that it is also recommended to practice, practice, practice and then practice again the double touch move. I was getting sick and tired of the com skinning me all the time so took to replaying back what it was it was doing and majority of the time it was the double touch move. In the code I played in june this was much easier to perform as all you had to do was flick the right stick to the players left or right while holding the directional stick in the direction you were dribbling. Before that code supposedly Iniesta did it as part of his Player ID when using deft touch dribbling. Now it is a bit trickier to perform but seeing as the COm uses it frequently why not give it some payback!

The AI's through balls are doing my head in. It's the only way they score! Just played Fulham, it ended 2-2, they had two shots all game and they both came from unstoppable through balls.

WTF!!!!!' This game freezes before I can even play match??? I used my data from PES12 and now the whole game farking locks up everytime???? I'm playing on PS3 (decided to give this title a go - now I'm furious with KONAMI). Anyone know what's going on???

I understand your frustrations mate I had the same problem a while ago. The beauty about this game u need to be focused 90min. What I tend to do as soon as the CPU has the ball in midfield is I press L1 till I have full control of my CB and I straight away drag him back deep and in the mean time I get one of my other teammates to pressure the ball handler. Since iv been doing that iv had no problems. But u always have to be alert that's the great thing about this game good luck hope it works for u :-)

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

YouTube - Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 - Ajax vs Real Madrid - full game HD (720p)

This made me wonder, why KONAMI hesitated to make such game before? Or maybe I am just poor at PES? (but tbf PES 2012 was cheating galore, so stick with Professional difficulty for the most part, on video I put it was Regular I believe and yes, I did have space, but couldn't finish, AI was ruthless in that regard. On Regular. O_O).

I mean the much better team won, fair and square. They outplayed me. Ronaldo shone throughout the game. If you chose career as lesser team, be prepared for struggle ;) (here a note: on FIFA you could play D3 team and win vs big boys without much problems, on PES 2013 such thing should be much harder).

Like I said, Hail PES. The king is getting back to the throne? ;)

How did you upload that? I tried on Youtube but my file was too long?

After prolonged play with PES (two days) In attempted to play the FIFA demo just for one game. Man, just wasn't for me after learning PES. The first thing that hit me were the animations that everyone goes on about it, I just don't get it. Perhaps I am now programmed in PES animations and PES colours etc, but the garish nature of FIFA just makes me go 'uurggghh' now. The pitch colour and player vibrancy almost blew my eyes out lol.

Say what you like about PES, I think PES appears the realistic game in terms of player movement, colours and players looking human like. Playing in day on PES is a real joy this year.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

I can't still believe how some people really gives a f*** about how the colors of players boots are. Really?
The standar way to play this game is using the wide camera, where almost you can see the sponsors on the uniforms. So, its really an issue?

If the gameplay is amazing, i will don't even care if all players are bald!

Viva PES!

The colors of boots on replays is terrible mate. Trust me ;).

But that is not an issue, like you said gameplay is amazing.

The thing with boots is like you can see giving boost to players in certain areas. C. Ronaldo is one of the fastest players in game. With F50s in ML he turns into rocket. Can sprint past anyone, leaving them behind. Quite funny to see, but in this case I would say it's realistic.

However, saw Valdes wearing WEPES 5000 boots (KONAMI ones) which give your player 5* and 5* boost to Explosive Power and Speed. In goalkeepers this makes sense somewhat in range of their kick (explosive power), but speed boost is bizarre in this one.

I applied same boots to Higuain and now have the up front duo who can win games on their own. Higuain without boots had power shooting trait. With boots, he can reap the nets apart (explosive power without boots 83 with them on 88, top speed without boots 84 with them on 89) LOL.

Other stats are not altered with WEPES5000 boots, so nice.

The last player I have wearing boots in my team is Zuniga (who I have bought :P). He was wearing WE PES Heritage 2 boots, which are complete waste of time to elaborate on. Just poo :D.

Played 10 games in Master League now. Players don't look like they have normal development curve applied yet. Maybe season must pass to see the training improvements? I hope it does that sooner though :(.

Off to play ML and finishing RM season with a bang! (had to up the difficulty to Professional too, as game became too easy ;)).

On the plus side, Items wise, I only bought Cycling machine for C. Ronaldo so his stamina improves. Now maybe I will get massage man to help with fatigue haha. Those are the only ones I would use. Rest is just meh :P.

Hm, they allowed me to upload longer vids after a lot of uploads done, not breaking copyrights.

Now having special account :D.

But, had to be patient (it took them over 1 year to realize :P).

I've always prefered PES's player models as they look more lifelike and realistic, FIFA's still have some odd hunchbacking going on. PES's movement physics of momentum and inertia look and play more realistically as well.

Where PES is let down is the linking animation transitions, they can still be stiff and jerky at times, compared to FIFA which has smoother animation transitions that make it appear more fluid and realistic initially, but on closer inspection the minimization of momentum and inertia decrease the value of them.

Its obvious that Konami have taken a gameplay 1st, animations second approach, hence why the individuality is pronounced, the movement physics and tactical depth are as they are; while FIFA's engine is built to service fluid animation transitions first, gameplay second with minimized individuality, movement physics and tactical depth.

If the Fox Engine assets can help PES's transitions to be smoother from 2014+, then hopefully PES will look as good if not better in motion than FIFA, just like the PS2 years when it looked better, then people won't have the excuse that it is too rigid/robotic and "FIFA is more fluid", as you hear ALL THE TIME which has been driving me crazy for years! :BLEH:

After about 20 games of ML now, does anyone think that gamespeed 0 is too fast?

Trouble is I want the zip in the long field passes and the zip in the strikes, but I do feel the game is too fast on 0. Great fun though.

I'm facing the same thing on the same console ...read my post 2-3 pages before

looks like they either limited the number of edits allowed (which will be a big setback to the dedicated editing option file community )or it has a lot to do with the new PS3 update (4.25 ) which seems to be causing quite a rumble of complains with games freezing
If you make small changes the game will work fine.. if you try to go all the way editing (like all the previous PES's ) it will freeze momentarily
I even took the option file to another friend to try it on his PS3 same thing the game froze when we where in the game plan screen

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

Just got the phone call that my cousin has got the game from France (I don't live there anymore) but won't be able to play for at least grrrrrrrrr

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

Just had the most wonderful game v Citeh. Away from home, 15 minutes, Superstar, one bar assist. I think this is the sweet spot for me. Oh and gamespeed -1.

A brilliant 0-0. City were just so organised, just could hardly penetrate their midfield. Although I had more possession I just felt crammed in my final third all game, it was absolutely brilliant, they hit the post in the 82nd minute too. FIFA just cannot replicate anything close to the movement, gameplay and fluidity of PES. This game is awesome.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

As which team did you play? :P

I found Professional to be my sweet spot for now :D. 0 speed. 2 bars ;).

Might change it after season though, but let's see how it pans out :D.

This.

I've been doing this since PES 11. It's a must.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

Yeah definitely, it's just that sweet spot between the defensive line and it trickling into the keeper's grasp that I'm having difficulty finding. Got an inkling the Teamwork stat plays a part, noticed that my new signings struggle to link up more then the starting players.

Either way it's added another layer of challenge to the ML, so i invisage myself playing offline for a fair old while more then i anticipated. :))

On a side note I really like that they've added more error to rash hoofs, more often then not they'll either fire out of play or straight down the oppositions midfield. Really loving the fact the default ML team are now back to being absolute cloggers rather then the assured, composed footballers they were in PES 12.

You also may want to try holding R2 when pressing X for a more controlled pass, especially with the ML defaults. That should help when the Teamwork stats are not gelling.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

This.

Yup, me too, set a deep back line and do this and through balls are much more rare. I'm loving defending on top player, holding up the opponents and waiting before going in for the challenge with R1 is much more skill based than before. It's also resulting in much more even passages of play and level amounts of possession.

Lots of friendlies I've been paying are really tight affairs with periods of dominance for me AND the CPU. It now feels 100% more like proper football match than previous games. I need to work up to zero assistance (I'm on one bar at the moment) but I'm not sure it will feel a little too manual. Do you find player passing accuracy is still in any way stat based? I'd like Pirlo to be superior than most for example.

Its more so in my experience, and the reason is that when all is not equal, ala 1-bar and alike, then the better passers shine due to their stat-based assistance.

Zero Assistance isn't full manual by definition. If it was, I wouldn't use it.

The mighty Reds (aka the not so mighty Liverpool).

I love how the players feel this year. Mediocre squad players feel just like that. They can fundamentally pass and do the basics, but if you dally on the ball they can get robbed of possession and are unable to hit that glory ball.

When I played City I just felt the strength of their players, just as if they were physically stronger than me not just in individual one on one feel but the team presence. It actually felt like I was the inferior side. The only one that was holding his own was Gerrard. My smaller or weaker players like Spearing/Henderson etc, were getting out-muscled by Toure in midfield. Meanwhile Silva was giving my stand in left back Coates hell all game, every one on one it was like oh shit, as Coates turns like the proverbial tank.

Listen, people may complain about this and that and some oddities and quirks within PES. But compared to FIFA the game is just so much more complex that it's little wonder that these peculiarities appear from time to time. PES factors just so much more into even the most basic of build up play. It's just complex from everything from movement of players, team feel, player ID, etc etc, that it's no wonder that FIFA can shine so well in other areas.

I'm not missing the boots, I quite like the mini games with equipment (never thought I'd say that), gameplay seems perfectly balanced for the most part, gameplay itself is just phenomenal, colours are fine, shooting is fine, passing is fine, goalies are okay, etc etc.

It's just an all round exceptional game (on the pitch). I do agree for people that require the stuff outside of just offline ML that KONAMI has fked up massively. BUT - for me, my little world centres around ML v CPU. Now as an aside, if they EVER started messing up ML majorly, then I would start having some big beef with KONAMI.

For me now, this feels like a game that will stand the test of time. If PES 2014 doesn't float my boat, then I would reckon that this version could live long down the line like a PES 5/6. I think finally (and it's about time) that we have a footy game on next-gen, that we can keep coming back too. I think finally I can ditch PES 6 PC patched once and for all and play a footy game on my PS3, in the comfort of my living room, on my big fk off plasma, without having to mess about for 18 months tweaking and correcting it myself!

I agree...in part though. I'm actually spinning a positive out of it, as it makes controlling players and creating moves harder whilst ensuring that I have to rotate my squad. BUT - I do agree, for example Borini scored two goals one game and went from Red to purple the next?!? Go figure. It seems all over the place.

I'd rather see the home team be more positively colored overall than 'us' as away team be forced into this.
Point is, when you see the colors of the CPU in away games, their colors are all fine and dandy.

I don't mind the occasional blue or purple, but the whole team and especially all the key players.. i don't know about that.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

How do you save your camera angle for online play?

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

Is it to do with coaching? I previous years there have been coaches you can hire to help improve player form arrows. Plus, signing new, better players (though you may not be using player defaults) helps too.

On another note, I'm loving the R2 dribbling as well as one of the moves I never knew existed until I did the training exercises. It's a kind of sidestep move, and is in the first guy in the video below. Really love that. I tried it with a much lesser player and while he technically performed the move, his touch was so heavy and lumbering that his second part of the dribble took it away from him and into a crowd of other players. So, basically, as in real life, everyone can 'do' this move but only top players can do it effectively.

Similarly, with top players, R2 is a joy. In the vid, Gorcuff dances around on the ball and makes space for a lay-off to a team mate. So much fun.

Actually I thought that...at first. But I was interested in this this year and I've been checking the away teams arrows, and it seems more balanced this year. For example I played a game against someone and they had like 2 blues and 2 purples. Normally it's all red and yellow.

I'll check every team from now on just to see.
