PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

Regarding the passing and crossing, does the game do a good job of understanding what you are trying to do?

Does it misinterpret your intended actions?

For example, when a player (Pirlo) has the ball and is positioned in a way that a left footed pass makes sense, does the game force it to be an awkward looking right footed pass?

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

I wish they'd bring back the Random Selection Match from Pro Evo 6. It is still the best game mode I've ever played for matches against mates. Every match different.

Yeah why they scrapped that is beyond me! Was so fun to play against mates with that mode

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

you say pes fans are wearing tinted glasses yet say pes fans are playing fifa now... contradictary ??? i think most pes players here would say the franchiese hasnt been up to scratch this gen at all, and in fact like you say a lot of them have been palying fifa while pes has been like that... including me...

personally im not sure how any old school pes3-5 player could not like pes 2013, unless they are so used to fifa that are trying to play pes like fifa.. i just dont understand... the game just feels like a modern, updated and freer pes5 to me, its great!

Hello mate

Defined an old school ml player here (pes4 & 5) being my all time favs

I'm in a real dilemma, as in really liked both demos but the absence of leagues and the boots farce of ML is really just too much

Konami perfect the gameplay only to aim a shotgun downwards at their pinkies....

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

I've been around the forums a long time, and I can safely say that the negative stuff always intensifies around release - As someone who has played a lot and liked every PES (except 08) it doesn't worry me a bit. I need a couple of weeks or a month to get into a new PES and I can very well understand that people who play a day or less don't like it at all, it's a game that really needs commitment to be appreciated.

However, I can not defend the lack of League (especially) and community. It is the most baffling decision Konami have ever made. Removing International Challenge was bad, multiply that by 10 and I don't feel it's near as bad as the omission of the League mode. Even if you aren't feeling ML (and I didn't between PES 5 and 2009) you can always play a league with your favourite team, were the teams are as they are in real life and with CL and cups included it is a great mode. I was looking forward to testing the brazilian league, and the Premier League with Liverpool.

Konami cleary don't comprehend how many people they are pi**ing off with this. It's going to badly hurt their sales, and they should release a statement that this mode is getting in there ASAP with a patch.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

Picked up a copy from Blockbuster this morning. The shop assistant handed me this 'Steelbook' thing and snipped off a little piece of paper with the code to redeem the additional content.

I haven't played the game yet because I want to get the DLC but can't seem to find it. I have looked through the menus where some games have links to download extras and I have looked on the store where there doesn't seem to be anything PES related.

It's probably right under my nose, but can someone tell me where the Steelbook DLC stuff is downloaded from?

Thanks

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

Well we had an absolute blast last night for our weekly Lads Night and the PES 2013 premiere. Everybody loved it, and we had some amazing matches, even without the Community Mode or League Mode.

We played 10 minute friendlies (due to the fact there was 6 of us in total) instead of our usual 15 minute games. After playing 5 minute matches of late, 10 minutes felt so much better.

We tried a variety of teams, including teams from the Brasilian League and some of the better stamp of teams from Europe. All of my mates played with 1-Bar assitance to get used to the new game, but I went for Zero Assistance (Bar the shooting), and it was me that definitely had the most control in the passing stakes.

Shooting is superb, not over-powered and very contextual. R2 with power from outside the box is better than PES 2012, and there were some real screamers hit from all over the park from a full range of players.

R2 dribbling went down a storm last night, I scored one with my old boy D'Alessandro which was quite simply-stunning. Using the Right Stick with the Left Stick is amazing. Pushing the Right Stick up or Down then tapping the Left Stick/D-Pad in the direction you are running pulls of some fantastic feints. These are player specific and contextual. Also, rotating the Right Stick in a circle, clockwise, is great for showing the Player ID moves for those represented.

The AI movement is on another level, especially if you don't look to force play, and we saw some quite brilliant new animations for so many different scenarios.

The Commentary is still the shits, and hasn't even been tweaked since last year as far as we could see. The sound FX are still left wanting, but we added some chants and that picked up the atmosphere. But why still only 5 Slots Konami ? FFS. And why no Home and Away chants ? Again ? Arghhh !!

Overall, this game kicks PES 2012's ass, on every level. I appreciate people may feel it's similiar from the outside looking in, mainly due to the fact it looks like it. It's crisper than PES 2012, but not much else. But, it's what happens on the park, and also the fact that if you play it like PES 2012, then it will feel similiar. There are so many new moves and techniques though now to utilise, once you start to bring those into your game, then you begin to scratch the surface of just what is possible. And trust me, it's limitless.

Brillaint, brilliant, brilliant. :WOOT:

Forgive me. But its like the Pope bigging up God. Your opinion as far as im concerned is worthless as you praised the living backside off the last few years games even though they were utter gash.

I'm interested in some of the other, more balanced views in here, honest views, before i step out and fork out my money.

Why read it then?

I must admit, it's hard reading all the positive opinions and hearing how much fun people are having with this game when I made the decision not to buy it. I've been looking forward to this game for months :(

But hey, that was my decision. I can't rush out and buy a product day one given the revelations and mis-information of the last couple of weeks.

Let's see what Konami do mid-October and perhaps I'll be back in again. Until further news I'm signing out of this thread.

Cheers.

James.

My suggestion
If you play vs mates - buy it
if you play vs AI or MasterLeague - dont buy it

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

My two cents:

Being a FIFA manual veteran, i would say PES’ manual shooting is great. And although the “Zero bar passing” is not 100% manual (neither is FIFA13), I find it very rewarding and well balanced. I love the way Konami takes stats into account. Nice job.

I haven’t played PES regularly since 2007 (PS2 days that is), obviously for reasons everybody understands, but I instantly fell in love with PES13. I have been testing the retail version of FIFA13 for a couple of days, and it is a well-crafted game, but imho lacks that “X factor” PES has. It is too static and repetitive, and I feel I still have to force the game to resemble “match of the day” on the telly. Playing FIFA offline against a friend, who is also a football purist, the game is brilliant. Playing ranked online or, God forbid, against the CPU, FIFA is an endless source to pain and yearning. PES is great fun against the CPU (could be because I only play on Professional), and I look forward to try some manual online games. And I LOVE how you can dig deep into tactics in this game, and change it quick during a game when you are struggling either to create or prevent chances. Although with what seemingly is plenty of choices, FIFA’s tactic setup is either THIS or THAT. There is nothing in between. (I do miss an option for “overall build up speed” in PES. I could just have missed it though)

Both games have their flaws, ups and downs; during many of hours playing, both have been a 10/10 and 1/10 rated game. FIFA has great sounds, commentary, and overall presentation. PES has a tremendous depth.
(Regarding graphics, both games look horrible. It is 2012)

Anyways, as far as I am concerned: I am back to the roots, the circle is closed. PES is my game this year.

(That being said, I completely agree regarding the “no-league” and “black boots” issues. Terrified... mortified... petrified... stupefied… By Konami)

this game against my friend is AMAZING

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

its not 'utter bollocks'.

the problem with biased fans of any franchise is that you play the game with tinted glasses.

you need to play fifa and pes games with a clear head. I really expected this to be THE pes which brings us back to the good old days. :WORSHIP: (the heights of pes 3 and pes 5)

but this isnt it. It plays ok football but has far too many problems still. But its still a million miles behind FIFA (and this is coming from someone who wouldnt touch a FIFA game back in the day)

If you look at FIFA thread now even the die hard PES lovers of old are playing the EA game now..because PES has stagnated (gone backwards) for so long and people are fed up.

PES is a million miles behind FIFA? :LMAO:

Right, PES is a million miles behind a game that barely attempts to replicate actual human movement via inertia, momentum and foot planting.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

First impression of playing this game:

Best:

Crossing is perfect and beautiful in this one.(or it was improved greatly from the Demo)

Worst:

Scripting is f***ing bad in this one. Once you are leading, on second half stamina will drain your player's speed and movement down, and CPU stamina seems like more than yours only when they start equalize do your players stamina goes back to normal. It is too noticeable than previous PES.

Speed is lowered down to compensate for better gameplay. It may be useful to you if u are in possesion of ball but if opponent gets the ball.... vice versa.

do you use manual crossing ?

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

I think i'm giving this year's PES a miss sadly. The lack of a league mode (OK I know there's 1 in master league but not the same) The lack of a league mode is a huge disappointment. Big let down Konami.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

Anyone know why there is no online lobbies, it won't let me play competitions like D5 cup in Master League Online either, anyone else having this problem?

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

Just picked up my copy on the way to work this morning. For all my complaints about game modes I still actually can't wait to play it. I love the demos and despite all the opinions on here over how it's supposedly different I think it will be virtually indistinguishable from the demos. Which will be fine by me.

Between this and the new FIFA game, it's a great year for football gaming. Two titles at the top of their game, and for me different enough from each other to warrant purchasing.

Is R2/RT button completely useless when defending in 2013? because i still press them when defending, cause i got too used to 2012 defending.:CONFUSE:

Consider yourself forgiven. Unfortunately, we see football in a completely different way. There is nothing I can do about that. I pity your ignorance.

Is there any way in the full game to play online against 0 assistance players only? How are the online options? I'm considering getting the game in a few weeks.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

okay, can anyone tell me what has changed in defending(the buttons) when comparing 2012 and 2013? I keep conceding to AI after i score.
