I dont want to buy this game cuz of Konamis fuck ups, but I love football too much and I hate Fifa so I have no choice. Will probably go pick up the game later today, but I would like to have som things clear before.

When you play League offline via ML, is Champions League inbedded and will all players wear black boots? Does the boot "boost" bullshit apply here too?

I could undestand people not being happy with the shooting in PES2012 but the complaints about 2013s shooting is baffling. The 30 mins or so that I spent on the training ground playing with the shooting left me thinking it was great, You can put the ball any where you want, with the power you want, its context sensitive and the variety of shots is brilliant. What else do you want from shooting? Quite honestly the only way I can see that you could critise the shooting is if you are expecting to hit the ball at 100 mph with 100% accuracy 100% of the time.

Something that does merit criticism though is the CPU AI. I am playing in div 2 in ML and some of the CPU teams are laughable. It may just be the ones that have a long ball strategy, I would estimate that 80% - 90% of their attacks end with a long ball up field to absolutely no one, its played behind my back line and their CF has no chance of getting it. This combined with the ML original goalie letting in any shot that is not hit straight at him is really ruining what otherwise is a very good game.

Yes to both. You unlock your first pair of magic boots after your first practice match.

I find the shooting in 2013 retail to be reasonable. Certainly it is far better than PES 2012. One can place shots fine. There are tutorials to practice. Pace of shots is contextual and stat based. There are plenty of rocket shots for me. I've even seen a few faster than I thought realistic, so unless you are of those people demanding shooting to be identical to demo 1, I wouldn't worry too much.

I was having a look today at the league structures in ML and BAL and i am really disappointed on how KONAMI made leagues work this year.
I will give you a specific example so that you all will understand what i mean.

Let's say that like most people do, we will turn the PES League into a fully licenced Bundesliga, and the WE League into any 2 division european league (for example Serie B).
Now let's see what happens at every choice we made in BAL or ML depending on if we want to play in south america or in europe.

ML in europe will be just perfect (if of course in this case you choose the combo Serie A + Serie B)

ML in south america will be a problem because the PES League will be played in south america (meaning that in our example the Bundesliga teams will qualify for Copa Libertadores) and WE League (in our case Serie B) will play as a second division for brasilian league)

BAL do not matter where you choose to play (if i remember well, the game do not asks you, just put you in a team as always) since the PES League (in our case Bundesliga) will be in europe (which is ok) and the WE League will became a new league that plays in south america (not as a second division for brazil, but exactly a first division like for example liga argentina) with his own cup too!!! In our case we will have Serie B teams fighting to qualify for Copa Libertadores!!!

KONAMI this year really fucked up everything with offline fun, specially for people like me that truly like to play a lot of BAL and ML and to often change teams and leagues. I am depressed...

The only solution is creating 2 different user accounts (as I do on PS3) and install different Option Files on each.
I used to do it on PES 2009, when I had a BAL career with a normal Option File, but on the other account I had a Master League with Arsenal, for which I had another OF replaced many unlicensed Spanish teams with Championship teams to build an English 2nd division. And it worked just fine for me. I think you could probably do the same for 2013.
But you won't find many Option Files tailored for your needs. And it's painstaking creating one yourself...

in pes 2012 you couldn't even decide the direction
it was awfully random. You shoot right, the ball went left becuase keepers had to save it.
If that's the case with pes 2013 then we are in trouble

direction is fine this time around (at least i haven't experienced any issue),

it is more the old "either a superscreamer on any loose ball or a shitty floaty ball if you are runnig with your joe player". But once again it is not the shooting, it is the poor runnning animation. I'd say you just need to adapt to the game.

I'd say ugly goal keeping animation, ugly crossing animation and ugly player repositioning and weird spacing are more disappointing than shooting which after all is up to learning the proper timing.

Inter fans are gonna be happy to hear they have promoted to the champions league...

same issues from PES2012 are in PES2013

AI cheat (passing/freekick/stamina/catchup)
AI overpowered dribbling (unrelated to player grades)
weak shoots
weak keeper
weak direction detect
stadium code...

This would be a big problem for me, as I hated PES 2012...

The game breaker for me was the AI dribbling inside my defenders' flesh. Even Mexes could probably pull an elastico, nutmeg and roulette his way through my defense.
Are you sure it's really the same in PES 2013?

But the keepers were pretty decent in demo 1!

keepers are fine, just ugly to look at most of the times. But they do their job just fine.

Shooting is something I was so pleased with this year especially in demo 1. You get snap shot in, it had wow moments. It made up for the dodgy animations. The satisfaction/sensation of sending a screamer into the top corner was pure bliss.

So, summer transfers aren't being updated until mid-October? FFS. I was wanting to throw myself straight into a ML this weekend.

The transfer window shut in August, does it really take that long to switch players around in a database? It would take a couple of people a weekend or less to do, let along two fucking months.

Konami are pissing me off to the point where I'm considering just getting FIFA13. That seems like a revelation this year.

For me, if the shooting has been butchered, I'm afraid it will be a game killer. Surely it can't be like pes 2012. That was possibly the worst shooting I've experienced in any football game. thanks for feedback though - please keep it coming. Play some more.

Scored in BAL goal from 25 meters in left up corner, my rating is 55..so shoting is much better than 2012

Keepers of a certain rating are most certainly not fine. My ML keeper has 80 response and 67 keeper skills and he is a joke, rarely makes a save. If the CPU shoots from around the edge of a box its a goal, the keeper stands next to the post and does not even attempt to save, I have conceeded 4 or 5 of these in the last 4 matches.

Nice to read impressions but I dont think anyone should judge the game yet. Imo it takes several days/weeks before you get into it (usually with pes).

In their defence, hopefully this new European/UK presence, moving forwards will allow them to increase the pace at which database changes are made.

(Being involved as I am as a Data Reviewer for FIFA, I'm aware of how massive EA's network is and it is that huge "scouting system" that allows them to be up to date at all times (is the aim)).

I'm just trying to keep the board as positive as possible as I'm like a kid at Christmas waiting to go home and check my post (I'm 40 next month!).

they could have picked the teams that qualified for the CL right though. That is already known in late may...i guess inter took udinese place in the CL in the ML!

Smartest thing is to wait to buy the game in mid oct once rosters have been updated and price has gone down to 10-15 euro due to fifa outselling them painfully. last year after two weeks price dropped 10 euro.
