PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

Steelhorse, isn't the gameplay the most important aspect of a game?
I'm extremely disappointed about the the fact that there is no league mode, but if the game is like both demo's (and you'll never know with Konami), then it will be by far the best in current gen, maybe the best ever...Of course it makes it even more painfull that Konami seems to be capable fuck it up...But on the other hand, maybe the ML isn't that bad. Maybe bootgate is not that bad and maybe Konami realize their mistake and there will be leagues as DLC.

People in this thread have a tendency to be either blind for shortcommings or to be too pessismistic about things they haven't actually experienced. Just wait and see.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

I understand what you are saying but I only play 1 game. Not interested in any other games and it seems PES will be restricting my game modes.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

The only way Konami will know how people feel about the League mode gone, is to go onto there forums and put it on there.

It's all ok but Konami need some transparency and let its fan know what the deal is.

If they don't release a statement pretty soon on whether this league mode is in or not PES2013 will be the worst selling in the series I can gaurantee it.

It's not that league modes is a big draw for alot of people when buying the game but it comes after a seies of Konami blunders in the build up to release.

1. No PC Demo 2 (annoyed PC players).
2. Demo 2 on console not 10 mins as stated (annoyed Console players).
3. Silly Boots that boost stats in ML/MLO(annoys everyone).
$. No league mode(again double annoyance for everyone).

This year campaign to attract Fifa fans to PES has been a disaster from start to finish.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

Basically I just want to know if anyone knows if Konami will give us leagues via a DLC on 21/09

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

Gameplay is absolutely amazing! Best since PES 6 IMHO!

Master League seems alive so I'm happy. Taking off gameplay modes(League) is suicide, congrats being idiots KONAMI!

I totally agree with you about the lack of transparancy.
One could argue that customeers should give a signal to Konami (i.e. not buying the game), but the gameplay could be amazing...

On top of that, this might be the worst possible moment to give that signal (not buying the game). What is happening now is that Konami are implementing typically "Japanese" features (RPG-elements) to the game, because the game is selling better in Japan than in Europe. Not buying the game would strenghten Konami's believe that they have lost the Europea, buyers and consequently future episodes might be even less realistic.

I agree that as a customer it may be a good idea to let your wallet speak, but not now.

I'm pretty confident that people like John Murphy are following sites like this one. Right at the moment, he knows how we feel about those new developments (but to end on a very pessimistic note, something says me that Konami Japen does not listen to Murphy).

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

Ok something is officially fucked up in denmark,

A few weeks back I pre ordered the. PES2013 premium edition which was supposed to be steel tin? uefa key ring and DLC.

BT games called me last week after slapping on 20 quid on the pre order price to tell me that Konami didn't inform them that the premium edition has been cancelled.

To apologise they are giving me a steel tin edition, t shirt, ball, t shirt for my avatar and a "standard" edition of PES2013. What the fuck is the non standard edition that was cancelled then?!

I may be pissing in the wind but I think we would get a premium edition with leagues or additional content that is half the price of the game.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

because the game is selling better in Japan than in Europe.

I don't think thats true, I posted some sales figures a couple pages back. The game still sells twice as much in Europe then in Japan.

...and that would also mean that Konami are resigning themselves to defeat in Europe, something which I'm sure is not the case at all. Konami will be focusing on the European market but, typically, they are going about it the wrong way.

Anyway, EA has Konami well beaten in the UK but in other parts of Europe the figures are closer or the other way around, so Europe is far from a declining market for them.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

You don't know that any boots, pink or otherwise, or indeed any combination of equipped items whatsoever, are capable of giving the likes of Andy Carroll a +10 speed increase, or any comparable stats-boost of that nature.

Examples like that one are just speculative exaggerations based on the very little that we know for sure.

A +3 is the highest I've seen mooted, based on a formula I saw somewhere (might've been a dream, or a stranger on a bus, who knows).

This past year I have watched PES2012's version of Andy Carroll (CPU-controlled) dance through most of my team as if they were not there. Where's the realism there? Nowhere. ML is not, never has been, and never will be realistic.

The only 'boot' pictures released indicate a +5 increase, so altohugh my initial example was exaggerated its not entirely unfeasible once you apply other training enhancements.

I don't see how PES 2012's botched individuality provides an argument for the direction Konami are taking.

It'd be interesting to see where it is most popular. I suspect in Brazil and parts of South America its still played, although mostly pirated. In that league jamiedodger plays in there were loads of Moroccans active.

In Europe the UK and Germany are firmly FIFA territory but from what I understand it's a much closer fight in countries like Spain and Italy. It's probably no coincidence that there is a correlation between licensing deals and popularity in different countries.

I believe we could see PES2013 outsell FIFA13 in Spain this year for obvious reasons.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

Don't know guys, still hard to believe Konami is fucking things up so badly this time.

Every single year they seem to release the game several weeks after the transfer window closes and somehow they still manage to release it with outdated rosters and lineups. Something that any teenager with time on their hands can do in 1 day.

Now they licence Brazilian League, German Bundesliga, all La Liga stadiums in Spain... only to remove League Mode?

Maybe they are updating the new transfers before adding Leagues as DLC?

Also, I'm gutted to hear (if true) that they are changing the default ML squad... no Castolo, Jaric, Valeny, Espimas? After so many years...

Things just don't make sense, it's hard to believe.
They keep removing stuff and fail to add features which would be easy to do. for instance, a manager career mode in ML, where you could switch teams when your contract runs out and you could end up being a coveted manager going to Europe's greatest clubs.

Things would be great so easily if only Konami cooperated. They just seem a bunch of amateurs at times like these.

It's a shame last year the first sales of FIFA were 25 times higher than the ones of PES...
But I still buy and play PES - hopefully not all the bad rumors will come true... ;)

There is no german Bundesliga license :( It's just Bayern München (Munich) as always ;) and FC Schalke 04 (first time !!!) :)

Where'd you get that from Rentboy? There is no Bundesliga in PES.

Wait, so you ordered the premium edition, to which Konami cancelled and there giving you a steelbook? Thats messed up!

This. The only reason why Konami is still in the ring is that worldwide there are lots of interesting football-nations with their own licensing and EA couldn't afford to buy them all.

That's why PES is doing good in Spain, Italy, Southamerica...

But leaving out a proper league-mode will really hurt.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

So has there been any kind of comment from Jon Murphy at all or is Konami still ignoring/deleting questions?

Does Steve Merrett (sp?) still post at WENB?

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

Shopto review

Man Blue have had a very frustrating match, they have dominated possession, hit the post three times and had so much of the ball that the other team may as well have gone home and just left their goalkeeper on the pitch. With 90 minutes now past it looks like they never score, but wait what's this? A cross from the left into the Copenhagen box, a chance for Aguero to score? surely not, his back is to goal. He has a crack on the volley with an overhead kick, IT'S IN, IT'S A GOAL!!!!

The above probably best describes my experience with Konami's latest entry into the PES series. Full of frustration, but at the same time, joy. The frustration all begins when you put in the disc. The first menu to pop up will throw you into training, giving you a chance to get used to the huge amount of changes to gameplay in this year's version. First of all it will give you an example of how to pull off specific moves, then it'll be your turn to learn the new skill and it is not always easy. New moves include the likes of trapping the ball in mid-air for a volley, long ball lofts and precision shooting. Some of these moves are actually quite tricky to pull off and given that the game won't let you progress until you have perfected them, you'll be an expert before you know it.

Away from the training field, one of the things that pleases me most about this year's PES is that it has its swagger back. I love football games that frustrate me, because the real-life sport does too. There is nothing quite like things not going your way, only for you to hit a last gasp equalizer and scream with joy at the TV, this is what PES does for me. The game almost teases you with goals, seeing your team hit the post or head over the bar from close range. You will feel like throttling your players at half time, then eventually it will come together and all is right again.

As with previous games, PES 2013 has plenty to keep you entertained both on and off the pitch with Exhibitions matches and cups that can be played locally or online. You can also take part in the Champions League and the Copa Libertadores de America, again both offline or online. Perhaps the biggest selling point for PES though is the Football Life mode, in which you can start a Career as Player/Manager in either Europe or South America. Each season will see you take your team through the leagues and, if you're good enough, compete in Europe and the domestic cup competitions. If you wish you can also play this mode in the style of Become a Legend, allowing you to take control of just one player, or you can play the entire competition online.

A typical season in Football Life will see you play through the season calendar, gaining rewards, signing players and getting advice from your female assistant. The cut scene moments can be a bit 'cheesy,' for want of a better word, thanks to the lack of dialogue and thumping music which accompanies the subtitles. It also sometimes feels like these sections of the season drag on a little, however once you are out on the park all is forgiven.

Being manager you can of course set tactics either manually or with pre-sets. If you are feeling uncomfortable with the responsibility then you can also get your coach to take control. Once out on the pitch though everything is in your hands. It's here the real fun begins and this is also where you will notice the majority of the improvements in this year's version. Defenses are now tighter, closing down the line quicker - which of course means more offside decisions against the attacking teams. Attack has also been improved to counter this, meaning players will run the line to avoid defensive traps, although they aren’t not always successful.

What I love most about the action on the pitch is that it always feels like you have a teammate to pass to; there is always someone open or making space and while it is tougher to score goals, this does make for a more exciting match. As I mentioned earlier, there are a whole bunch of new moves for you to get to grips with, allowing you to nutmeg on-rushing defenders, loft lob balls into the opposition box and also tackle with better effect. Other improvements include better dribbling and more control over your passes and shots at goal, meaning that you are not as likely to balloon one nearer the corner flag than the goal.

Improvements also stretch to the superstars of football. Big name players are now more recognizable thanks to new animations and realistic likenesses. Not only that, but their specific skills are also present and correct, meaning that you are going to have to be extra careful when taking on teams which include the likes of Ibrahimovic and Ronaldo.

Of course PES is not perfect. While the commentary is getting better year by year, to me the game is still let down a little in the presentation stakes. The menus in PES feel to me like they belong in the PS2 era, being slow to use and clumsy. One positive about the menus though is that they are not packed with unnecessary information; if you want to start a match, then you can, without having to negotiate your way through about twenty different options.

Away from the menus, the rest of the presentation in PES seems to be improving every year. Players do look more like their real life versions. Animation on the park also has a marked improvement, players no longer look like they are struggling to run, while the ball now zips nicely along the grass, rather than floating along it. The game does still have a little catching up to do in terms of FIFA's 'Sky Sports' style TV presentation, both before and after matches, although it is certainly getting there. Who knows, maybe once PES is running on the fox engine it will finally match its rival in this area?

To be fair PES has never really been too concerned with presentation anyway, instead focusing on what matters - the football. Over the years, Seabass and his team have usually got it right when it comes to the action on the pitch; sure they may have lost their way a little for the past few games, but what team doesn't have its dry spells?

In my opinion, it was only a matter of time until PES once again hit its stride on the football field. Which team will win players hearts this year, remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure, it is going to be a close game, in fact it may even go to penalties.

They dont give it a score out of ten just say Verdict: Excellent.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

Every review Ive read says the lack of game modes lets it down.
Seems the reviewers dont know that the league and ML is shanked as none have mentioned it.

I ve read 4 differents reviews from spanish sites and NO ONE, mentions the lack of game modes and the magic boot thing.

The sites was: Meristation - 3djuegos - Vandal and Playmania. ( Everyone score it above 8 out 10, some other 9)

So mysterious....

They probably didn't mention ML or the absence of other modes because they didn't look to play them. Football game reviewers mainly look at the core gameplay. They barely touch the surface of game modes, leading to some unbalanced reviews in the recent past (e.g. glowing reviews of FIFA at a time when Manager Mode was a joke).

Also, it's just possible – crazy, but possible – that Magic Boots won't be a 'thing' at all, and might even be okay. All but one of the people who already have the game seem to be playing Master League with great enjoyment.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

Does anybody have a twitter account to ask Jon Murphy about the league mode?

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

Do people still read these reviews? I stopped ages ago. Matter of fact, I never took them seriously.
