PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Something which I've been meaning to mention - I listen to a lot of gaming podcasts to relieve the boredom at work. PES2013 has been getting a very positive reaction across the podcast sphere. Many people saying PES is back, that this is the first truly decent PES this generation and it's going to be a close call between PES and FIFA this year.

It's really good to hear because PES has taken such a caning since the PS2 glory days.

Yeah, I would love to see that graph return! It was so simple and still the player had a short comparison!

dont know why it got taken away, simple and accurate, instead of getting an overall which means nothing and having to look through stats individually...

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

I havent really dabbled with PES this generation, despite playing FIFA since the '09 version onwards it has never really hooked me or taken over my my videogame life the way PES3, WE6FE, WE9 and co. did back in the day.

I think PES is back this year as the game with more realistic gameplay and feel, but after reading the last 20 or so pages were people have talked about the other recent versions, it seems most say that PES 2011 was the best of this gen before 2013 demos.

Well I thought I would at least download the 2011 demo and see what it was like in comparison to the 2 recent demos ... People were spot on when they say that the graphics and colour of the turf and lines and nets have gone BACKWARDS !

PES 2011 has much greener sharper textured grass and white goals and lines and also the players look so much crisper and sharper on the pitch, 2013 seems so blurry in comparison to it.

I thought people were overplaying how some elements of the graphics and look have got worse but after seeing it with my own eyes ... They were spot on.

P.S. Also tried PES 2008 demo ... Jeez that was bad.

Ooh I like to listen to podcasts while I'm driving round at work. What ones you listen to?

My favourite gaming podcast is 'Joypod'. Been listening to that for years and I like how they don't take themselves too seriously. The hosts are really funny and always wander off topic. Just normal blokes really, talking about games.

'Midlife Gamers' is another good one for much the same reasons as above. One I've started listening to recently is 'Chet & Jon's Reassuringly Finite Gaming Playlist'. That's really good.

As far as the American ones are concerned I think 'Idle Thumbs' is probably the best, although they rarely talk about games I play but they are funny. 'Super Happy Fun Time Show' is a decent Anglo-American podcast but not as good as it once was. I listen to their spin-off show 'SHFTS Off Topic' mainly.

My football podcasts are:

Football Weekly (Guardian)
The Game (Times)
ESPN Soccernet
The Football Ramble
5 Live's World Football Phone-In.

As you can tell, I do a job where I can listen to my iPod for most of the day. :))

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

It makes me mad to see how much better than FIFA the game is this year, yet Konami still finds ways to screw up all the good with a nonsense of a career mode. Many people will choose FIFA solely because of it I'm sure.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

For the first time in many years i am so satisfied about pes gameplay that i didn't have the urge to play fifa demo.

That is a great feeling, now i can only hope Konami will not ruin gameplay with retail game or a patch. Fingers crossed.

Do it because it will make you even happier about PES :)

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Konami did not understand the If it aint broke dont fix it mentality.

Pity they didn't apply that theory to the ridiculous 'magic boots' idea. Still fuming about the situation - why remove our ability to edit who wears what boots from season 1 of ML. Absolute farce - KOMANI KNOB POLISHERS!

I will buy PES, but until Christmas. I have the demo with all the teams unlocked and well the only other mode besides playing with my friends, is playing ML. Then Konami don't release demo2 for us PC players. I really don't feel like giving them my hard earned money right now.

I will definetly buy FIFA, that despite not having as great gameplay, it's good enough and I've really enjoyed the demo and they have an idea of what they want to do with their single player mode.

Seriously? Someone's unlocked the demo so you can play 10 minute games and with many teams but you'd rather give your money to EA even though their demo is half the match length of PES on PC.

If I worked at Konami and read that I'd not release demo 2 on PC.

I can adjust the match length, it took like half an hour for someone to release an ini file. I hadn't even finished downloading the demo when the I had downloaded the file.

kind of silly isnt it, dont buy pes even though you think its gameplay is a lot better than fifas, plus, your giving your money to EA ffs ! fifa retail is even more expensive then pes..

Never said, I wouldn't buy PES, but that I can wait for it, specially with the demo patches available and that ML is not really going the way I want. So I can just use the demo to play with my friends, and I need to buy FIFA to enjoy a management part of the game. Unless you suggest I pirate it....

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Anyone have any tips for keeping my back 4 in shape? Seems I am always getting ripped apart by through balls, and my CB's seem clueless and flat footed, leading to an easy one v one with my keeper.

Perhaps I am doing something wrong when switching players, and following the ball too much?

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

no, i suggest buying the game you like more and not little stupid company fueds get in your way

also very funny that you moan about konami not giving you demo2 but youre happy enough playing your modded demo1 for a good 3 months

yes, try and select a midfielder and track back into defense.

very often whn you select a defender your midfielders dont help out in defense leaving you wide open

Right, I am buying FIFA first because it has a manager mode that seems to be aiming right up my alley, and I already have PES 2013 gameplay with the demo.

The whole demo two thing is just added incentive to not give my money to a company that takes two steps forward and then trips over itself. I really do enjoy PES' gameplay, PES demo 1 is my favorite gameplay wise, and I will enjoy it very much 'til Christmas. Demo 2 was okay on the Xbox (played a few games but can't play long enough to really tell, and I don't own an xbox or PS3 myself.).

So yes I am happy with PES 2013 demo and I don't feel at this point that I am missing out on much until the winter transfer update. While on FIFA they have that manager mode I will be spending some whole lotta time on. Might as well spend my money there. If you can't understand it and continue to be condesceding, it's not really my fault.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Don't understand people who will not buy the game because (maybe) they don't like the changes on the ML, even if they like the gameplay. Some people want to be unhappy.

I used to be an absolute ML fan, but to me ML has lost a lot of it's magic for some years now...i played league and BAL.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

.@fonalato. Dude do what you want-its your money but your justification seems odd.

Personally gameplay trumps everything else its the reason PES is what it is. It never had the bells and whistles fifa had I can't imagine playing a game that has a broken core as it will remain no matter what game mode you play.

Your money though and whatever floats your boat. Just don't go with piracy as that can never be justified.
