PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Certainly not. EA have been trying to fuck over the competition for years.

Have some back!

If only, Konami could get some more exclusive licences (like for ex Bernabeu haha) next year combined with FOX engine then maybe they could fuck EA some more.
I'm still laughing about this Camp Nou thing :))

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

i havent played much pes this generation, is this a new animation for 2013?

YouTube - pes 2013 demo 2 animation

To me it's new as well, haven't played much this gen either so.

Speaking of which, i think C. Ronaldo's first touch back heel overhead flick is in this game, just like he did vs Barca a few weeks ago. I saw Ibra attempt it in-game but he failed it. Quite awesome if this really is in the game. I'm kinda sure it is, just like Ronaldo's shoulder touches/flicks.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Karma is a wonderful thing sometimes.

Not to nit-pick, but I wish people would use the phrase poetic justice rather than Karma. Karma suggests that there is some overriding force within the cosmos that balances out wrongdoings, which is just infantile wish-thinking and portrays an apparent disconnect with reality given all of the malpractices in the world which do seemingly go unaccounted for.

3. Players don't react to a loose ball: The CPU gets a heavy touch and you see the ball going a meter away from the CPU-controlled player, your player is nearby and tries to go for the ball. But at the same time the CPU-player starts an animation where he slides towards the ball and wants to shoot it away. But my player is nearer to the ball and his lunging for it normally would make him get the ball before the CPU-player slides in.

Have interceptions been improved generally in demo 2? There were so many occasions in demo 1 for me when a ball would roll right through or right past my player without the slightest hint of a reaction, for example:

YouTube - PES 2013 no attempt to intercept

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Players are really a lot slower with the ball than without it, the shooting is also far too floaty.
Still buying the bastard though! It's a lot better than 2012 etc but not the leap forward that the first demo promised.

i watched that game and said "you can do that in pes" :P

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Played a few more games on Demo 2 last night. The more I play it the more I love it :) Really glad about that because I had my reservations about the shooting after first putting on Demo 2.

I think it's more about learning curve than anything, just like it should be. Not seen anymore floaty shots and it's an absolute joy to be able to direct the shot where you want (on assisted) unlike the pot luck that was PES 2012.

For those who claim there's no more individuality, that's not what I've found. I normally play 2 bar assist but sometimes 0. Last night I went 0 assist, semi-assisted cursor, Professional. Barca players passed the ball well but not always perfectly, especially Puyol who sprayed the ball well wide a couple of times.

My next game with Valencia had balls going a lot more all over the place than with Barca and not every pass directly to feet which you can generally do with assisted. Can open the feel of the game up.

Next game with Boca, I saw this incredible forward run where I played a 1-2 just inside the halfway line between Riquelme and another midfielder and the striker anticipated the next move and got in diagonally behind the last man. Riquelme put in a beautiful through ball with the outside of his foot and my striker tried a first time curling effort which went over the bar. But the run....the run!! I'd like to see THAT happen on FIFA, now they've been sprouting about thinking 2 or 3 plays ahead and intelligent forward runs.

Oh and for those on Xbox, I've just re-connected my console to my LCD TV after a few months of being hooked up to my PC monitor and night games actually look a lot better and not as washed out!! I checked my display settings on the xbox and it's set to Rec 709 instead of Auto or Source. Maybe someone else could try that and see if the contrast improves?

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

I always compared PES and FIFA to Counter Strike and Call of Duty. Counter Strike takes years to even be good at it, while Call of Duty is fun to play, run around, spray your opponents and basically do whatever you please which lacks FUN and realism. Same with PES and FIFA. PES offers a learning curve where you really have to think while playing. FIFA is easy to pick up and younger kids love it. Over the years FIFA was able to get better especially with the gameplay. LOOKING at two games and the gameplay videos, you'd think FIFA plays more realistically and it DOES look more real and that is because of animations and the way players move, but you JUST DONT GET that satisfaction like you do when you play PES.

Speaking of realism SOWS (Sensible World Of Soccer) and 96/97 being the best ever is strongly considered to be the best football game ever made, even to this day. This game is listed as one of the best video games ever made and is in Hall of Fame with games such as Zelda, Final Fantasy etc... and this game wasn't based on graphics, or boots, or anything BUT THE GAMEPLAY. Sure you had 20 foot sliding tackles and lots of other stuff that cant ever happen in real life but the game of football should be ONLY based on one thing. That is GAMEPLAY. If KONAMI want to be on top of again and be untouchable all they have to do is STOP LISTENING to people who complain about graphics, boots and other small petty things and focus STRICTLY on gameplay.

Nonono...
Sensible soccer was fun. Fun and gameplay are two different concepts.
Even gameplay and simulation are two different concepts, because gameplay can be either simulation and arcade oriented.

PES is a football game with simulator and arcade elements, and so is FIFA. PES having a learning curve has absolutely nothing to do with it being a simulator. It just takes more time to discover different controlling options and it's possibilities for a newcomer, but that's all.

Here's what many people here don't want to hear: I can PASS-PASS-PASS-PASS and create a goal opportunity with ease, even if I don't have a football brain. I can also CHASE CHASE INTERCEPT and steal balls. Football brain in PES is 95% an aesthetical thingie, there's not much football thinking into the game. Because positional defending and anticipation equals ZERO. The way teams contain each others is a PURE, ABSOLUTE MESS.

Every game can be exploited whether it be PES or FIFA. You yourself said PES is a mix between sim and arcade with elements of both, and I agree, it also makes that bit in bold just not true.

While I can exploit the game and play in an arcadey way if I choose, I can also set up my team with good tactics/strategy and utilize a football brain on the pitch, and on the defensive side I can use good positioning and timing to contain, cover spaces and defend as a team. The game has the tools to account for different approaches, however successful they are.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Anyone hear about Community Football on Modding way? I am thinking of making mine.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Wow Hrjove hated me from fifa 2006-2007 cos we made competing Gameplay mods. The usual editors drama I accused him of deceiving people and using my stuff without permission lol (Or maybe it wasn't him).

Mate, i just watch your vid in other thread about dynamic one-two.

It is great addition to 2013, i wonder if many people really try it. I am loving it since it can help bring "pass and look for positions" more varied instead of just depending on pro active ai and normal one-two.. Not master it yet though.. :P

Tbh, i remember giving feedback about having this new one-two system, where you can adjust your player to every directions.. :WORSHIP:

maybe konami do read our feedback (obviously, im joking :SMUG: )

i find with dynam 1-2s you need to keep your runs vertical for that midfield play, not point in sending him forward like a usual 1-2 in the middle of the park, give him a vertical run to double up in a paticular space and then move from there.... leave the forward runs for the final third.... yep.. this is a great addition to the game

heres another goal i just scored... im finding bilbaos formation really lethal for exploiting space (4-3-3), your two midfielders are always there for the run and lorente for the hold up play, just look at my midfielders run! :CONFUSE:

But that would be your personal decision (mine too, of course). The game doesn't really demand it.
I just wish the game was more of a chess game. You can't exploit a chess game, you have to read all possible moves and react in time, and take whatever measures you have to in order to defend yourself.
Difficulty levels are all wrong, they should change the way teams close spaces and play clever positionally. This, in my opinion, is one of the changes we should demand. Because current definition of dificulty levels is completely arcadey, and no one seems to talk about it.

Like konami was interested on our feedback anyway...

Seriously i dont see what the big deal is i have been able to do this stuff since pes 3. pass and R2 immediately afterwards. I have never used L1 and pass since then.

Actually fifa 2004 was what made me stop using L1+pass cos you could use "L1"(trigger run)+"R3"+"RS-direction" to actually pick a near by player and direct him into the space you wanted shame they canned it after 1 year.

and how have you been able to do this since pes3 if in pes3 you could only direct them to run straight forward? :CONFUSE:

On 0 assist?

Rubbish!

Maybe for you but me and many others play with anticipatio successfully.

Manual pass(Right stick) then super cancel. You don't just trigger the runs without having targets before hand.
Basically trigger the run to split the 2 cb or exploit the channels

You mean the run of 1st player of one-two pass can be made to every direction.. even towards your own half ? :CONF:
