<lol>

Who said that The Call Me Redneck will be in full game? :D

Ai se eu te pego... Didn't see that coming at all LOL.

Rest is so unknown... I don't even want to hear it :P.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

No worries Jamez, the songs are just rubbish, nobody has ever heard of them. ;)

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Does anyone else think that you really need to play ping pong passing to activate a lot of the new animations?

I was pissing around on demo 2 today and just starting playing a lot of 1 touch passes with Barca and I came across a lot of little animations that I hadn't seen before.
Normally I pass, control, pass, control etc which is fine but obviously I've been missing out on these nice little additions

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Not biased at all, as I kept going back and forth between the 2 demos, 3 games here then 3 games there and rinse repeat. Every time I switch to demo 2 I just cannot help but feel 2012 crawling back again. A few games then back to demo 1 and that 2012 feeling is gone. Back to demo 2 and it crawls back. Ugh. :ANX:

Yeah Lami, you may be right. The bad feeling on Demo 2 is because it reminds of PES 2012. Demo 2 is still enjoyable and addictive as hell, it keeps you coming back. But it can be just as punishing at times.

I just finished another session on Demo 2 and I must say that the ice skating has got to be toned down. It gets to a point where this is a potential game breaker for me (it's that bad!)
It's bad not only on defence, but also attacking. Many times I'm passing the ball to a running team mate and it is slightly to his back, then it's a real pain, the player slides like a truck with no breaks. It happens a lot with deflected passes as well - it takes freaking ages for the player to adjust!

Now let's get to the main point of this: it seems to be a game leveller. The CPU's players clearly don't suffer from the ice-skating syndrome. I have the impression that my players are running on ice, whilst the CPU's are still pretty much running on grass.
I struggled a lot with this today. Guys like Pique and Puyol took 3 or 4 steps to finally change direction.

Good old cheating is still there, granted. CPU played a pass into my box and Daniel Alves had like 5 seconds to see it coming, but he still let it pass between his legs for the CPU striker to poke it home.

This PES 2012 dose present in Demo 2 is a terrible sign. I'm expecting the worst now if they increase this dose for the final version.

PS: Who knows, maybe the infamous boots from ML will have actual studs on it, thus preventing the ice skating effect?? :D

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Another new animation (for me anyway). Just scored a lovely little scoop lob over the keeper with Messi just like the numerous goals he scored in La Liga last season :BOP:

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Aye, everyone knows that one, we were talking about the other songs (at least I was lol). :D

*Remember the video with the Brazilian teams*

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

I'm not buying the game if that's the soundtrack!?

*might not be true

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Agreed, unless 'Nicki Minaj - Starships' is in the game Konami won't get my money.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Winning Eleven 2013 demo 2 is now/finally on the Japanese store, for those interested in trying it out.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Must be shit.

Never heard of it.

It's one of the worst pieces of shit ever spawned by a Brazilian "musician". It's there mostly because of the brainless footballers in Brazil celebrate goals doing the stupid dance to that crap.

It goes without saying that my first action will be to uncheck this one from the Playlist.

PS: Can we still add our own soundtrack to the game via Playlist made in XMB?

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Played demo 2 today, and it wasn't too bad - but it does feel like konami have bottled it a tad.
I have been really looking forward from the demos of the last 3 years to see an added attacking dynamic in the game - not through making the game 'arcadey' but in being able to use pace and strength effectively in an attacking sense, as well as shots and passes as meaty as happens in real life.
The ball has once again become a balloon, light, quick off the blocks and soon slowed. It is like a side note to the dribbler, ignoring the weighty physics and feel of a real ball. The physics seem to be different depending on how the ball is distributed. This has been a bane of the retail games although there are demos (including pes2013 demo 1) where the ball does feel right.

Back to my initial point of bottling it - the defence always seem to have an advantage. So much of attacking play seems to be purposefully stifled:
- Attackers clear of the defence are caught up too easily
- Attackers turning seem to lose enough pace to let a defender nip in
- Attackers passes are often clumsily anticipated letting a defender nip in
- Attacking shots and headers are floaty and powerless in situations where in real life the keeper is often tested.
- Crosses are once again like 'fruit machine' long passes where you might hit the jackpot or not, but it's impossible to anticipate

With all these attacking issues ironed out, defending becomes a more tactical affair. With long range shots largely useless, crosses random, through balls and one on ones too fiddly and unforgiving the best way to defend is just hound. Send in the drones and block the options has been the only way to defend for this entire generation at least.
With more attacking impetus, this primary school tactic wouldn't work - the ball can simply be played away from the committed defenders, who have now left space for the attacking players.
This is the constant to and fro of real football.
If a professional footballer gets a shot away, it isn't going to float like a beachball every time just because there's a player on his tail - although he may slice it or screw it. Every shot in football has a chance.

Basically, the feeling of attacking in PES 2013 demo 2 feels too narrow for me compared to demo 1. I want to play a football game where I feel like I'm controlling a 12 stone athlete with pace and strength. In the 2nd demo the players feel to me like bamboo sticks who couldn't shield the ball from a worm, shoot like nancys and run away from defenders like a father pretending to run away from his young son.

The 2nd demo isn't a disaster, it feels like PES 2012 v2.0, the player switching is largely fixed and the goalkeepers are much better, but it still feels like it's wings have been clipped.

Still going to buy it because I still have faith and I want Konami to have the money to work on next years effort.

Hopefully next year the throughballs are completely removed and all passes are as manual as possible. The throughballs just seem out of place with where this needs to go.

Just my thoughts...

Every Brazilian I've met in the last few months had told me how embarrassed they are that this song is what got popular outside of Brazil and what people thus associate as Brazil's finest? True? It's like Bieber and Canada, I guess.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Demo 2 feels better than demo 1 IMO.

The ball physics are the best I've ever seen them. Before you could shoot from anywhere and the ball would be guided towards the centre. Now it feels like long shots are far less accurate as it should be. I've had a couple of awkward shots spin away from goal completely.

That said I'm really not feeling it this year. I think the main issue is that I don't feel comfortable. I feel like the game is constantly pulling my players this way and that and when I want things to be in my control, they aren't. That's nice for realism I guess but it's not something I value in a video game where I really want to feel like i'm in control of the situation. I think it's interesting to note that a lot of you are getting that on-rails feeling too. It'll be something some like and some don't.

Passing 5ish yards is still a nightmare. I'm not sure how Konami have achieved that this year. I think it's because it takes into account the power input as distance intended. At that range they should just have the speed be automatic and not affected by the users power input. Maybe then the ball wouldn't trickle towards my team-mate because i've merely tapped it meaning it to only go 5 yards, not for it to go that slow.
