its nothing amazing... i think our standards are just low because of how crap football covers usually are... boring player and grass/white lights around them... in fact, in general game covers are severly lacking in creavity these days... all look so bland

That's why this case is nice. It moves away from the convention for sports games (cover star in action shot). It's clean, simple, unassuming, almost as if it's saying "let the game do the talking".

I like.

These two things you mention are present and are working fine in the game

It's not driven as I think you may imagine it (for instance the way Scholes and Gerrard can do) but surely you've noticed the long ball pass button (O for the ps3 or B for the xbox) has changed from last year, the ball has a lower trajectory and it goes with more speed.I think it's implied to be "driven"

its overcomplicated, gettin away from its roots that worked fine for everyone

i can imagine all the players online mode cant deliver sh#t with it, no advanced passing not even simple passing in a consistent way
all that ending out in the running and find ways to play more effectively, griefing and ruining the experience for all the others
such things affect the experience of everyone, overcomplicated games tend to be a disaster, especially in multiplayer and competitive sense

and by complicated i mean the majority, we here are 1%
but the other 99% can harm our experience if the game is not intuitive and easy to understand/get a low level quickly to move on

in the back we had to press a button and thats it, the lenght of press was the only variable
now we have a modifier and pass bars, but the ending result is not better tbh

I hope the 3D support is playable. It looked horrendous on my Samsung PS51D500 the plasmas built in 2D to 3D converter worked better. Love the depth on the stadium with that btw.

any ML news? Unless its something huge, it seems like they probably haven't done much in that area.

The steel one looks extremely classy with the Champions League Trophy on the cover, the Ronaldo one is fine for conventional football game covers though.

Exactly what I was thinking. Strange there has been no news. If there are big changes, surely something would have come out by now.

A good ML could be the difference between me playing this for 3 months or a whole year.

Holy jesus, just scored a couple of worldies in one game!

First goal was an absolute screamer from Thiago Motta outside the box, was a rocket!!

And the second goal was a bit like Peter Crouch's goal for Stoke last season where he chested it outside the box and smashed it in, fucking amazing goal, jumped out of my chair when I scored it!

Recorded a clip with my phone, going to upload highlights in the video thread in a min :)

I suppose they aren't making Europa League playable seperately from the Leagues this year either? Also, now there is an option to shoot manually without pressing an additional button, seems mad not to add one for crossing?

Feel like I should send some tweets about this. Probably too late in the game though.

It really annoys me that long pass isnt full range. a player should be able to launch a pass over the top into space no problems

Is no one else bothered that the replays are still soo short? When you look at what FIFA has done with the replay feature what PES has is laughable, its not moved on since the PS2 days. Its a small thing and at the moment its the only complaint I have with the demo, but when the game is this good it annoys me that I cant always go back and watch its greatness because of the silly little replays.

I love the demo (on the PC with jenkey's patch) but what's going on with crossing and heading? It seems incredibly difficult this time around. Every cross, even by the likes of Robben or Ribery, sails directly to keeper to plug down. I can't for the love of it place a cross onto the penalty spot as I could in earlier versions. It's always flying into the keeper's box.

Heading seems botched as well. My players always lock on to the back of the defender like a magnet despite me pressing R2 and on the rare occassion that they reach the ball it's always this awful, slightly bend-back stance which makes the ball float across the net like a balloon

What's worse: just like in FIFA, every cross or corner seems to lead to a direct counter-attack by the CPU because they are incredibly effective in clearing the ball to an open teammate in midfield even when they are under immense pressure.

What am I doing wrong? Anyone of you scored a 'normal', believable header, not one of the diving kind?

Crossing is poor. It's the only area of the gameplay that I find to be particularly sub-par. Simply not enough control over the placement of crosses.

I prefer the old system from the PS2 days.

I'm not sure what to tell you, I just cross and time the shot to head the ball, and have scored quite a few. One thing that I'm interested to learn is how to do downward headers, I presume it's a question of timing, or at least I hope. I do hope it isn't random. I scored a beauty with Postiga, I curled in a deep cross in-swinging towards the keeper, and he rifled in a downwards header past the keeper that bounced off the ground and into the roof of the net. I did use R2 at the same time, so maybe that has something to do with it, but who knows.

Crossing, well, Im quite liking it, I scored another header where I beat a man, got to the goal line and pulled back a high chipped cross back to the penalty spot, and I planted a standing header into the top corner. It's not perfect, don't get me wrong, but it's improved over 2012.
