PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Played some more of the demo last night. I'm happy with many aspects of the game, but I can't get my head around one thing: why are my centre forwards always static??

Was that team mate control thing (with R3) designed to make up for the lack of movement of forwards? No more clever runs, not even to open space for the player in possession.

This R3 feature should be an add-on, and without it the game should still be playable. But it turns out the game forces us to use this thing.
I for one, don't want to use this. I want my AI team mates do give me options.
Cmon wake up Konami!

I sometimes have that problem but yesterday played with Bayern, Gomez makes some terrific runs constantly letting me get in behind.

Its probably who your striker is, theirs not that many 'Predatory' strikers in football at the moment like your Inzaghi's and Van Nistelrooys.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Love what I am seeing here. Really do. :D

Seems like players are more willing to make runs there. Did they alter the game pace slightly or is it me?

And... It looks like the two playing it... Are pressure abusers. Give me a break .

They play terrible to be honest but i do like what i see. Game looks very smooth, you see a lot of good runs, a lot movement overall - it is promising.

They put some more Vids online:

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

It's a human vs human-match.

I like the new ball-speed while passing and that passes can be overhit, gives it that sense of realism, really like it.

The animation is still as to be expected subpar.

What I really don't like though is that there is still no realtime twotiered stamina/fatigue-system. Seeing the players kick and rush for the whole match without needing to take a phase of slow ball-possession to regain the breath, breaks my heart.

Sure it's the players playing that way, but the game should punish it with a drastic realtime reduced stamina/breath/fitness.

Also don't like the stop-and-go-mechanism that is still in there, but I guess it's somehow linked with the subpar-animation-system.

Would like to see a match-video showing a human playing against the CPU at top-player, to see if they improved build-up-play, variation and possession-rates for the CPU.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

nice to have some videos to watch... but why in these early videos is it only the most horrible players who get to play ?

Me too. As a singeplayer-first player i can't wait for Human vs CPU footage.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

They certainly do have enough of the key resource required – money. Sales worth $2.25 BILLION. A net profit of nearly a quarter of a billion. That's a very healthy balance sheet. It doesn't matter if EA have a million billion or whatever their figures are. They both have more than enough to put in place the infrastructure to make a great football game.

What Konami don't have is the will to invest in PES beyond its current level.

It only takes money to put in place the kind of infrastructure that EA has supporting the FIFA series. Konami are happy enough providing a middling level of support (by comparison). Happy enough with sales and critical reception. There's a sweet spot between level of investment and profit, and they must have hit it.

I challenge any suggestion that Konami is some kind of plucky underdog fighting for freeeedom against the evil EA empire. It's definitely not.

Nope. Konami do not have the money power EA have hence the licensing issue and no they do not have the resources in people EA have and no they do not have the technology and sharing of technology that EA have.

@matty don't call me names mate.

The worst fucking thing that has happened to gaming in the last decade is the lack of innovation and forward thinking. All the devs do is copy each other and fucking release things that we have been playing all our lives in the sam e format just with higher definition graphics.

Its the sort of fucking backward thinking like copying game modes that have caused this. Konami must innovate to grow and go forward what sense is there in copying what FIFA does?

Please again don't fucking resort to name calling.

@matty don't call me names mate.

i'll cally you exactly what you deserve to be called. not only was your 'solution' of buying fifa ridiculous, seeing as we BOTH said we were going to buy it anyways...

but its clear pathetic fanboyism not wanting to 'now copy fifa'.... a good mode or feature from fifa... from a ps1 game.... from a dust bin.... dont matter, if it's good then companies should look to implement it in their game.... but i guess its YOU.... who just continually spouts of nonsense on here... so no need to take you seriously LOL

Konami certainly do have enough money power to match EA's investment in FIFA, if they wanted to.

They have the money and organisational presence to amass the people and technology.

They could have a go at the licenses if they wanted to (a side-issue compared to core game development, really).

This myth of EA being some all-devouring juggernaut, with poor ickle urchin boy Konami sitting in the corner, has GOT to end!

One company (EA) has chosen to invest the $$$. The other has chosen to invest a lot less.

"The what PES forum members say about Gamescom videos every single year without fail checklist:" (Sorry, couldn't think of a more snazzy title)

1. The players are noobs/amateurs/terrible.
2. The game speed looks too fast.
3.(Answers to above)
a) It's because video capture, Youtube conversion alters the speed
b) Their probably playing +2 gamespeed
c) It's because they're abusing the sprint button
4. You can't tell anything from videos, I won't make judgements until I've played it myself.
5. Some mention of the sport Ping Pong
6. Keepers look shit.
7. If I was there playing, my videos would be much better.
8. Sprint whores!!
9. Pressure abusers!!

And one that doesn't happen every year but never deserves to be forgotten from Gamescom for PES 2012:
10a. There's obviously a sprint bug, you can see it after every pass.
10b. What sprint bug? Don't believe the videos.

I don't care what you think of my opinion. Do not call me names.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

That's right Matty. We can disagree on opinions but name calling? Are we 5 years old??

this dude has been posting the stupidest shit for ages now. every post he just misunderstands whats being talked about

i'll call him what i want. i'm sure if someone here was making great points on the game and what needs to be added and i called him 'smart' you would have no problem, just like you should have no problem with me calling this guy a total doofus

You are acting like a doofus

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Unnecessary is the right word. I don't think I've seen Zee write anything ridiculous before. there are some here who do but not many of the usual crowd. I just think someone you agree with is smart and all others are stupid. You and your mate said I knew nothing about football because I didn't want arrows telling my players where to run...

So since you played with Bayern, I'm guessing it's the PC version with an unlocking patch. Maybe the guys who did the patch did something about it? I've no idea how they do those gameplay patches these days.

I was playing with Fluminense at first. Fred and Wellington Nem were my forwards. Fred was too static. Wellington Nem was a bit more lively (but I used him as Left Winger).
Then I played with Portugal and alternated the 3 attackers. Used Ronaldo in the left and as CF. He was the only one making clever runs, but then again he is superhuman in this game. And even so, it wasn't often enough to really impress me.
On the few occasions I was able to deliver a good through ball, I still noticed a lot of the "catch up bug", whereas even a guy like Ronaldo would be slowed down by some mysterious force of nature, so that the last defender could catch up with him.
Lots to improve still, isn't it!

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Jon Murphy has actually said in an interview that the biggest issue is that EA people and the premier league people are very tight/good friends. EA have been clever enough to build up personal relationships with people in power.

About the videos I think they look ok. It still have a bunch of issues, but after watching the FIFA 13 gameplay I'm pretty sure it will be only PES this year again. Sooo... what's the gamescom build? 87.52%?

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Tim7, are those scores vs COM or other players? I'm finding I'm getting really low scores vs COM even in 20 min games. But I've always been good at defending and terrible at attacking. In contrast, the first time I played 2vs2 with friends the score was 6-3 but eventually scores got lower as people learned the defending system.
Me v CPU on Top Player.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

KONAMI does have money and resources. They earn billions each year and it's not only down to Pro Evo franchise ;).

As to game modes... Dude, get your head out of your ass for once? The online modes FIFA have killed PES for most people.

FIFA online > PES online in terms of game has to offer. The possibilities on FIFA are endless (Pro Clubs, Ranked Matches, Friendlies, Virtual CM Leagues! (this year addition), Ultimate Team, etc.).

What does PES offer in that regard? The only thing worthwhile is Master League Online. That's it.

If you don't see this you're a fool beyond belief... (and yes I do love PES, but ffs seeing what needs to be improved and implemented is not bad idea once in a while :P).

I also liked FIFA Career Offline Mode better than PES Football Life thing, because it had slicker presentation, was more realistic, but what ruined it was core gameplay elements (btw I loved old Master League of PES 2011 more than FL too).
I'm agree ! EA kill PES only with online mode ! I say that million times ! No body buy FIFA to play offline modes . Almost any one of my old PES friends play FIFA, only for Online , Clubs mode, they ask me.. to buy it too but.. i cant ! How i say and before , i can't give my money to EA and FIFA ! Yeah, its sound to hard core but , this is me , i want same great online modes in PES .. this is my It is my hope and salvation ...
I do not think that Konami not want to do better online, just not with this engine so ! Maybe for new one ?...

Just imagine that PES 2013 gameplay in Clubs Mode ... will be football orgasms

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Judging by the code shown at events & whatnot in recent years, my trained eye can see that the demo we've currently got is definitely at 60% and the Gamescom one at 72.33%. I have no reason to fret, as the retail will be at 85%.
