PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

I don't know if its just me but I find the new demo boring. Looks like a rental at best. I think I'll wait tlll next year. Maybe the new egnine will bring some life back into the game.

huh for pes 2014 they have total new engine?

I don't want to sound like a @!*$ but can you say what you find boring about it. Just interested to know and it's always better to include reasons with a statement. Could it be you are bored of playing just friendlies with the same few teams or is it the actual gameplay you find boring?

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

It's certainly not a boring game in my opinion. By far the best PES on this generation and possibly the best PES ever in terms of the replication of football, something which FIFA12 cannot get near. There's plenty of depth to the on-pitch experience that rewards patience and a footballing brain.

I don't know how it can be called boring.

proxi! :D

What do you think of the demo dude?
Yo. I find it a pleasure to play and soak up the creative possibilities that it gives in attack. Dribbling and shooting is at the highest level seen so far. Curling the ball is like sending your hand up an oiled thigh. Defending is easier but the scripting is still around so it at times doesn't matter how well you do it. Some of the behaviour by the AI in particular situations is still a little linear, for example in one-on-ones. I'm still hoping for improvements to the keepers too, which are very good but there are sweet spots. Lots of potential, and I have a good feeling about the retail version. You?

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

I can see why someone would find it boring, if you like the fast paced, play one or two passes to go end to end and shoot type stuff we have had recently. Not saying thats why the above guys find it boring.
I have only spent a couple of hours with it and for me this will probably be the most rewarding PES yet because of the organization of the CPU. I played as Germany v Portugal and I had 2 shots in the entire game, the first was a little chip over the oncoming keeper with Gomez which hit the post and came about after some awesome movement. The second was with Ozil who struck it at the defender but the shot came after he took the ball out the air, had another touch mid bounce to keep it away from one defender, then got it under control and knocked it through someones legs before shooting. I celebrated both attempts like I had just scored the winner in the 93rd minute. I love how you need to be patient in possession and keep looking around for some movement to make use of. The new manual 1 - 2's open things up soo much when trying to keep possession, I am using them to make backward and sideways runs as much as forward ones.
Another thing which is a massive improvement over 2012 is that the CPU will knock the ball about trying to get up the pitch. Its nothing Barcaesque but when defending as a team and leaving it with little options going forward I seen some good football.
The depth of passing seems impressive, especially with the new lofted passing. And one thing that enhances the passing and really jumped out at me last night were the new ball physics. I hit a few diagonal long balls with the player being off balance and the spin and curl on the ball bent it right away from its target. I havnt had the chance to really get into it and experiment yet but if you can manipulate the balls spin then there is some incredible depth in there.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

I registered here a long time ago when I used to enjoy the PES games. I later lost interest in them and even though FIFA was 'the best available', I still found myself unable to enjoy it in the same way that I used to enjoy PES/ISS Pro.

I was curious about the demo and I downloaded it. I have to say that I am very optimistic about this game. It seems to reward the slow approach that I love and it also has the random feel that I used to love. Players seem to control the ball in quite a natural way and it quickly becomes obvious who on your team is good at what.

I enjoyed the demo and ma looking forward to the full game. Maybe it can pull me away from Football Manager. :)

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Yesterday mate stopped by, we gave ourself 4 matches. We kept giving possesion to each other.. because the defensive system, general pace, etc are not like 2012 anymore.. I wish i had spent more time in midfield

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Played PES2012 this morning eeeeewwwww.no dynamic one-two and I kept flickng my stick to make a run LOL not to mention the iffy shooting. Did manage a humdinger of a shot with Bosnias midfielder he is an an unlicensed name but sweet mary he can strike it well but it looked slow compared to the rockets in 2013. Dribbling has improved as well since playing 2013. Cannot wait to take 2013 online against mates.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

hope its improved since pes2012. pes3 5 min matchs cannot really tell!
but from pes2012 they need to fix scripting = less off
improve the player switching, improve the AI of your team mates in regards that they move or react to a loose ball, cus if player switching dont work how stupid is it to see a player with the ball an inch fom his foot not react to the damn thing. and lastly gks if there is no improvement in these then for me its a complete waste of time. cus these are the basics of the game.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

There are still major problems with player's reacting to loose balls, they don't react at all as if they say to themselves : " This ball was meant for someone else so I just ignore it". I press to switch the cursor to the non-reactive player but the game doesn't let me.

Playerswitching, both for selecting a player, and when making passes and the game tries to choose the right recipient (it chooses half the time the wrong one) needs major work.

Another problem is when trying to get the ball from an attacker by just walking/running onto him. The attacker will stand there with the ball exposed in front of him, he does absolutely nothing with it (!) and yet when I try to walk/ run upon the ball and the standing attacker there, I can't get to the ball! It's as if there is a forcefield around the ball and attacker that forces my defender to walk/run around him.

The attacker really just stands there with the ball in front of him doing absolutely nothing, no shoulder-drops or dribbling, absolutely nothing, but the forcefield secures him and the ball, and he knows it.

The other problem is with the abundance of stumbling-animation. Every little connection between the players leads to a stumbling (with the CPU always in favour). I watch and play football (in real life) regularly, but this stumbling-madness I have never experienced.

And then there is this phenomenon with the receiving pass. My attacker seems not to be able to receive a pass/throughball and run with it in a smooth movement, he always stops first, receives the ball and then tries to run with it. Football is a lot about timing, gaining and keeping the advantage, my attackers lose them all the time because of this stop-and-go-mechanism.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

I think regarding ball recipient if the ball travels in front of him, he keeps running to get it. On the contrary if the ball is slower behind him he is reducing his speed automatically in a moment to adjust. It's not normal ?

That's not what I meant. Imagine you are playing football on the pitch in real life and you get a pass, you see the ball travels to you and you see you have free space as the defenders tracking you are behind you, let's say two meters. Wouldn't you use that advantage? Wouldn't you jog towards the ball, receive it and run with it in one swift movement in order to keep up the momentum of the attack?

In the game, very often this momentum gets broken up because the receiving player ignores my input and stops for a second while receiving the ball, granting the defenders that time to catch up.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

You know what my Football Life will be like?

Pick up PSG and buy Neymar.

Neymar and Lucas together in one team is daring xD. Both of them are God speed. Try jenkey newest unlock tool to find out why :D. Lucas  (3x Man of the Match without doing much with him haha :D).

Love this game with my settings now. Cant wait for full game now! Boring? My ass!

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

one thing still bothers me....

that yair still found cheats and scripts in the exe and ahhhw why? :(
Im afraid we wont get a great, enjoyable, playable footbalsimulator like back then before the next-gen era...never.
When it was on psx they focused on the gameplay because they didnt have such money for this project so they made it for the hardcore gamers unlike fifa which was all about fancy and arcade stuff that an 7 yrs old can enjoy...and now...pes is all about shining, and money, and licences aswell a little girl can beat me with the help of the cpu ...its like fifa , and its heading nowhere since 2008.

Still dont want to call it a bad game, since its just a demo, wait till the final and wait till i play at least 300 matches, after then if i can play it with my friends with joy and excitement till morning then its PES like in the old days.

actually they need to remove some cheats to make it rly enjoyable a whole year, but last years they always added cheats to the full game..
so yes, right now i am only slightly optimistic about the full

I never actually said FIFA12 "fails to replicate football", but it still doesn't get the fundamentals right. For what it's worth I enjoyed FIFA12 for a while but it got boring and repetitive. It's a decent game but lacks the sense of ball control, intricate dribbling, first touch, momentum and inertia and (still) individuality, all of which PES does better and are more important to me (in my opinion).

Well you can flick R2 in a direction or press R2 and when the defender closes in move opposite to his momentum or just R1 dummy and supercancel. There are possibilities besides just reciving the ball.

@impossible I saw fault with PES2012 from the first day I played it but still managed to enjoy it. Its natural to feel this way after playing the PES2013 demo a lot.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Jamezinho, reading your posts is spooky as we share the exact same feelings on PES and FIFA!

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

In general, Fifa and Pes have opposite problems.

Overall PES is more mature and realistic and has more depth but is, imo, crippled by technical issues relating more to general game development (eg. animations, running on rails, SFX, input problems etc)

Overall Fife is less realistic and has less depth but isn't as hurt by these technical issues.

This is why PES annoys me more than any other game. The potential is there to be an absolutely brilliant game, easily the best Football game ever, but Konami just seem unwilling to do it. The potential has been there since 2011. I hope I am wrong but it seems like they'll go onto the next engine without making nearly enough use out of the current one.

In a nutshell, yes, this is absolutely correct as far as I'm concerned.

Agreed, PES is hugely frustrating because we all know how mind blowing it really could be if married to better tech.

I don't believe it's all down to unwillingness from Konami to move forward, although this may have been a factor in the early days of this console generation (perhaps more complacency coming off the back of a hugely successful PS2 era?). For me it's lack of foresight, lack of planning, lack of investment, and Japanese insularity to blame for the current state of the PES series.

Things are clearly changing, though. A new engine to look forward to next year which could finally give us the best of both worlds - great gameplay and great tech.

PES2013 shouldn't be written off, though. The more I play the more I like it. Potentially the best PES ever. For me some of the traditional problems - animations, fluidity, freedom - are no longer much of an issue in PES. They are all at a more than satisfactory level in PES2013.

For me I couldn't play PES 2012 for longer than 5 mins as it didn't do anything for me, the new pes looks as though it'll be decent and a massive improvement gameplay wise.

In my opinion FIFA 12 was so realistic and has kept me entertained playing online against my pals and head to head that I wasn't eagerly waiting for FIFA 13/PES 2013 to be released

I didn't play that much PES2012 because the shooting was a massive letdown. It's the most satisfying part of a football game for me, so if it's poor the whole game is doomed.

Thankfully the shooting in PES2013 is much, much better.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

The shooting is much better indeed, it could do with a bit more variety in terms of trajectories.Sometimes you just press the plain shoot button and the ball curves without reason (almost the same way everytime)
