Is it me or when its 2/3 to full time, my players become quite static compared to the beginning of the game? That's also around the time the CPU pressures like crazy with fast and accurate passing kicks in. It makes it quite hard to pass to someone after defending an attack especially on zero assist. That's the time where my only options are to kick it forward and hope it reaches the striker. I'm using jenkey's unlock patch.

That would be the time when your (our) players go into low stamina region ... too bad AI isn't really affected by stamina loss

It also feels as if the 'switch' is on for the CPU only when they are either down a goal or when it's relatively close to half time or full time. I wish that konami would at least try introduce various stages in the 'scripting' business to make it more believable and discreet, instead of an off on switch. It gets rather annoying.

To be fair Konami could probably justify this as a dispropotionate number of goals occur with 5 minutes of the start, halftime and end of matches - in real life.

Agree though, there's that sense of dread (particularly in Master League) when you just know it's the CPU's time.

Honestly i must admit that the more i play the demo, the more i get used to it. At the beginning it was too similar to pes2012, in term of cheating AI, but now i got used to it and can play nice matches on Top Player (while on pes2012 i could not even win a couple of matches on Professional).
Probably i will change my mind and buy it, specially now that i got my ps3 controller to work on my PC. Not to mention that the modding possibilities on PC are almost infinite. I am really waiting for some more informations about the game modes but i suppose we will have to wait a lot, at least till someone will get his hands on a beta version for a full review of all modes aviable. I am a master league WHORE so i truly hope they improved it with some more depth and a different way to work with regens, for example assigning them fake names, nationalities and random faces, because i really get upset to see players retiring and then immediatly playing as 17 years old youngsters, it kills the fun of searching for unknown youngsters.

Or you could make some smart subs and tactical changes. Might work, might not. But to keep playing the same way with tired players won't help :P

I noticed that spreading my team out on the tactics board works to alleviate many of the problems with centrebacks getting caught through the middle.

Drag them deep and pull your DM deeper if you're using one.

more wide formation is preferable for defence, and u can use compactness slider to narrow it down

thats better than doing it the other way round obviously, narrow the formation and using less compactness(higher number) by slider

How do you do the little cheeky chip over the goalie finished? Like the little dinks over the goalie. I try and use R1 whilst the shooting power bar is filling but it never works and they just do a kind of prod.

Hold down L1 before you let go of the shoot button, for those naughty loopers

Given that teams are unlocked at the moment in the demo (EPL patch, for example) do you think Konami have yet to program the team tactics/ CPU AI for teams?

Because every team I play only really try to work cheeky through balls to their lone striker. It's almost literally their only attacking plan.

L1(sprint) is high lob
and R1 is short lob

try loading up the shoot bar to the max and then tap R1
or shoot button and then again shoot button(shud be the same this year)

Never mind, I'm probably doing something no-one else does. I press allsorts. If the pad was a disco controller, my screen would be a strobe light

One things I wish PES had which that other game has

Defensive grappling/pulling. It's a bit overpowered in that game but it doesn't feel right without it completely.

Pressing R2 once after you've power up does the little dink. Pretty sure it says that in the manual. But it's hard to get right. You should be really close to the keeper and power up a fair bit. I did a few on PES 2011 but not many if any on 2012. I have seen the animation now on the 2013 demo so you should be able to do it ;)

If you tap R2 while running alongside or close behind the guy with the ball you grab and jostle him. There's quite a few different animations and outcomes. It can be used to nudge weaker and less balanced players off the ball, especially if you have a second defender nearby to clean up the loose ball.
 
Yep, agree with the above. Managed to shake off a few defenders with this method on the way to a goal. You just have to time it spot on and try it with the right player.

I hope the Demo 2 is a 10-minute affair, it seems really strange for me to be not even discussing the demo at this stage of the year. I just can't bring myself to piss about with a 5 minute 'sneek-peek' bullshit demo. You can't get into a game of football with that limitation. Pathetic.

Got back on the internet today after being without since the end of March. The plus side of having no internet was missing out on all the new PES hype and going into the demo with no idea of what to expect. It took about 3 passes of the ball with no assists to put a huge smile on my face, the weight of the ball is fantastic. Another thing that I loved was how bad some of the touches were with the Fluminense defenders, it was always after trying to control a difficult ball and the ball would bounce off them like they were a plank of wood. It may not be totally realistic but since 2011 the lesser players have been over powered , which in turn made the star players supermen. For the first time in ages I have been able to play with teams like Germany and not feel like I am playing a totally different game after playing with teams like Fluminense. This will give ML alot more depth also.

One of 2 complaints I have is the manual shooting(the other is 5 min games). Do stats or body position etc... even matter with this enabled? I didnt have it on for long but it seemed just like FIFAs manual shooting where I can put the ball exactly where I want to 100% of the time, not something I ever wanted or thought I would see in a PES game.

I dont remember having such a good first impression of a PES game(or any game come to think of it), the entire time I spent playing had me smiling, swearing because of how good some of the little things are and going into replay. Cant wait for demo 2 and hopefully 10 min halfs.

Not sure about shooting but I heaar that stats are taken into consideration with manual passing

Seems weird as it'd just be better to have only the 'manual' passing

I don't like the normal passing in PES, haven't for years, as it's too sticky (always goes straight to a player) and often goes to the wrong player.

Thanks, I'll give it a whirl.

Is this the same button as sprint or dribble? (I change the buttons from default and I use the Xbox controller)

I'm undecided on manual shooting. I like the concept but the execution doesn't feel right, i.e. manual shooting feels rather generic with little stat influence.

I think I'll stick with assisted shooting for now.

I don't know if its just me but I find the new demo boring. Looks like a rental at best. I think I'll wait tlll next year. Maybe the new egnine will bring some life back into the game.
