I know I've said it before, but I agree. It's not just placebo, I felt the same way for 2012 and now 2013. The game appears to be much smoother with the blur effect than without it. I also prefer blur from an aesthetic standpoint, as the contrast between the players and the pitch/stadium looks too artificial to me when it's disabled.
Maybe it's just placebo, but somehow it seems to me that animations may be a bit faster and 'jerkier' with disabled blur during the match. Sounds silly, but can it be that this ugly blur is there for one more reason - to make CPU/GPU busy enough not to play animations too fast??
