This game have potential to dethrone PES 6 from 1st place of PES Francaise . Just need little big touches and fixes + good online mode.. omg.. if there was a club mode ... :BOP: the game of the dream !

P.S after a few days , i will have preview code and again as last year can give you information here about edit mode and FL ;) or all what you want

Have anyone tried the manual off-ball controls, never tried it in pes 2012? I was messing about trying to do new moves on beginner 30 mins, and it seems that they usually move towards the direction you last put before disengaging the R stick. With the slower pace in pes 2013, and alot of practice, could be put to good use.

I can't seem to do any flicks at the moment, any tips?

my point of view

the game is good, much better than 2012, though:

shots: has improved somewhat exaggerated, unbelievable missiles, and really do not like. clarification: use manual shooting.

passes: the best I've found fantastic.

animations: true are quite acceptable, but there are some "strange animations" that occur during the games personally bother me too much and slow down the rhythm and tempo of the game, eg to turn around and go, sometimes it seems even painful.
at times reminded me pes 2011, where it was very heavy.

is certain is Demo 1, and this should improve even more.
2012 been has half way, I just hope it does not happen the same with 2013.

I did not know PES 6 was even allowed in the royal compound not to talk of it sitting on a throne. Maybe the old throne that they left at the dumpster.

guys i am playing on full manual and i am passing the ball around nicely and creating good possession openings and i will push the ball into space for a certain player to run on too however it completely chooses my wrong player and i find i am running out of position with someone else and the guy nearest to the ball it was intended for leaves it..

is this a common problem?

i have it on semi-auto switch at this moment in time...

annoying the F out of me

Alrite tried manual off-ball control on regular difficulty this time. During counter attack, i scored a goal with a curving run by rooney from a through ball, kinda caught the defender on the wrong foot. Looks like i'm gonna leave it at manual from now on. Manual 1-2 on the other hand, is a different beast, much harder to pull off some moves; trying to pull off a few lateral one twos to create space.

You miss the point though. Having assisted passing WITH an on the fly manual modifier button is so much more powerful.

You can make the simple passes with no worry and if you want to try a manual pass, cross or shot, you can do it as you desire, without being locked in. To me that's great.

I agree. i was actually going to edit that into my post but decided against it.

i was going to say 'the only downfall of this is assisted players will have one less button then a manual player'

i still dont think its that big of a deal though... if youre assisted and want that button, keep it... if youre all manual you wont need it, so put something else there.


I'm not sure on your 2nd point what you mean. If you press both buttons together to super cancel, you won't be knocking the ball on. Perhaps you should get into the habit of not moving the left stick, which directs the knock on.

But anyway, I would try and knock the ball on with a first touch on PES 2012 and end up super cancelling by mistake. So it was the opposite problem to yours...

no, it does. all the time. Super cancel is R2+R1 and knock on is R2, so when you are super cancelling into the ball you will knock it on by accident. very annoying. if manual button was free you could put knock on as L2, then hold all 3 buttons if you want to super cancel knock on.

yes its a common problem, playing with 1 bar assist having this aswell(havent playd a footy game hell havent touched a gamepad for a year so maybe its just me)

no it is a clear problem for me.

i am playing on super star difficulty and on full manual controls. it is hard enough playing and keeping the ball and then this is just a kick in the teeth. really frustrating

it happens loads, for example i will pick the ball up in defence or a deep midfielder, look at the radar and see my team mate on the last shoulder of the defender. i will throw the ball into space and look to turn the defence. instead of the right winger running for it, my midfielder decides to take the cursor and completely run upfront while the player nearest to it does not respond at all.

this happens all over the pitch, especially when chipping balls into the forward and wanting him to drop in.

maybe it is because i am on manual but its a bad flaw.

i am using yasmir patch too..

Yes, that's the biggest problem with playerswitching and it was already that way in PES 2012, disturbing to say the least.

We need to recognize These animation flaws going forward or else even the GOD engine will not save pes from always looking wack.

PES animation certainly should keep improving but there is a new addition in PES 2013 demo passing animation where he keeps moving after making the pass. I found it more pleasing to see compared to similiar animation that current FIFA's engine offering.

Note that in the past Konami mostly had this cycle :
Dribble --> pass --> stop --> move and it's like 100% like that in PES 2011. PES 2012 reduce this but the transition is too rough.. Current PES 2012 demo reduce it even further, just leaving small bit of 2012 animation (transition).

Tbh, i would prefer a balance between stiffness and flexible player model. Too flexible make it like a rubber.. although it translate most of the real mo-cap motion.

I hope current fifa is not going to be future PES standard. For example, their too structured dribbling pace cycle especially knock-on ball (Right analogue) is not pleasing at all.

but it needs to be les scripted better AI of your teammates and better player switching otherwise it aint worth bothering with. the 3 basics need fixing!!!!!

Goalkeepers should stay closer to their line like in reality. Currently they are always a few steps in front of goal. This was also present in PES12.

animation blending can be a very expensive thing to do in games
PEs on the ps2 was so freaking well planned out the the animations often lined up perfectly. I cant tell you how nasty that piece of code was and how much seabass would have looked through every frame of animation to get that. Since they did not want to blend they decided to use the fighting game system "Cancels". This way the original animation from the artist is almost always preserved cos computer blending sucks.

When konami made the players have an extra spine bone (i think the torso got longer too) they would have noticed that the old animation looked stiff or wack in the torso cos there was an extra bone not really moving. with the little time they had they came up with the infamous pes2008 running style.
Now with the new engine and new number of animation need they would have relied on blending a bit more but fell for the classic trick of
blending almost everything - weird looking responsive 2008, 2009
then moving to
trying control the blending period (waiting a bit longer) - stiff looking (pes 2010-2011).


Transition animations generally slow down gameplay hence fifa 08 and 09. These were removed from the fifa engine in 2010 to create their urgency system time warping (See GDC 2010 Animating fifa for responsiveness). This way they save animation memory and had more control at the expense of realism.

Fifa animations look ugly and weightless to me and i never got ho people liked them. My main problem with pes has always been the turning animations ,dribble touch and some of the kicking animations (passing and shooting) the kicking was perfect in old gen but in this generation over relied on ik even fifa has stopped using ik cos it cause awkward stiff right angle poses . anytime you kick the ball and your leg looks stupid it is ik at work. FIFa start this trend in 2003 and are removing it from their engine since 2010 (more warping).
Remember that in old pes the players did not always make contact with the ball . they just played the animation in the general direction of the ball.

Lastly pes has gotten more methodical and less spontaneous/ creative so we have more time to notice the nuances and odd animations. in older pes you were almost always hyped during matches that you could not pause to check a replay as you would lose that excitement and the game also removed your replay if you did not check it in time.

I think konami should go for good looking animations first then responsiveness last just like 2k animations and fifa 08. make the game look good and believable.

But above all fix the goddamn ai for teammates and opposition.

yeah.. i kinda like 2k animation that they are pretty nice to see but not over responsive.. i don't have knowledge about this animation stuff but i like how they portrait the weight of the player moving in NBA.

confirmed, i'm playing on 0 assistance and there is this bug. It needs to be fixed for release otherwise i will be compelled to play at 1 or 2 bar assistance but the game freedom is more limited with those settings

I believe KONAMI did know about the issues in first demo before releasing it to public.

The 0 bar assistance/semi-assistance needs fixing.

I would LOVE if KONAMI reverted to MANUAL player switching though. Hate assistance of ANY kind and Unassisted is rubbish in KONAMI game (seriously it is!).

GK's are always a few steps in front of their line IRL. That aspect is very realistic.

+1 Agree. Manual modifier should still be there, to cater ppl like me enjoying 1-2 bar passing assistance. i sometimes use the L2 pass whenever there is tight space to send a through ball. When it is more open and distant. i'll just let player stats put into equation and use normal through pass.
I often use manual pass when there's open space too, making sure no momentum is lost in the move by making sure the recipient runs onto the ball rather than has to slow up.

PES have nailed it by combining the two and allowing people to still switch to fully manual if they wish. It's far more empowering and intelligent than forcing people to choose one or the other and ending up with the unrealistic aspects of going fully manual / no manual.

but having passing assistence represents modern football? fact is trying to recreate real life only goes so far, this is a VIDEO GAME and you have to find the balance between real life and playability. do you arrows above player heads in real life to? no, but you need something there to tell you who you have control over.

but thats the thing, they HAVENT allowed us to choose fully manual. manual players still need a manual button, which is ridiculous.

u dont need to press it every pass u make, that wudnt be realistic
irl there are many "stand up from sleep do it all night long" passes before it gets to this one pass which needs more time and concentration, thats what konami is trying to do with your game too

wud be pain first and second not authentic to make every pass manual
2/10 passes about like it, for this kind of thing the L2 thing is a legit choice

irl there are many "stand up from sleep do it all night long" passes before it gets to this one pass which needs more time and concentration, thats what konami is trying to do with your game too

um, but on manual passing it IS easy to make easy passes (like between your centre backs), but when in the final third its harder because you have less time and need to be more accurate - that is a much better balance between realism than having heavey assistance passes, because no matter how 'easy' they are in real life they still actually require effort and aim.

This game is awesome. I love how Messi is trying to stay on his feet after being teackled by 3 defenders. Playing on professional is the most satisfying, but a bit to easy. Goalkeepers have some weird stops and they sometimes let goals pass easily. overal pes has finally become a decent football game. compared to pes 2012 which is utterly shit imo.
