PES 2012 Football Life thread

Decided to start a new master league with SSC Napoli, decided to adopt a variation on their 3-4-3 formation and play three CB's with maggio and dossena playing at SB's but almost as wing backs. Working well so far have good numbers at the back, width and numbers in the centre(sounds perfect on paper) just need to get the ball to lavezzi and cavani asap! although patience is a virtue it pays to speed things up and catch the AI of guard. Brought in carlos zambrano(from schalke) to sure up the defence and leandro damiao has also been bought as backup to cavani.

Love napoli, feels weird playing with 3 at the back though.

Can anyone tell me a good PC patch with italian Serie B and, like PESEdit patch, with 500+ new faces?

edit: plus Konami default stats

I'm starting up a new season as Watford.
Should I use master negotiator that i unlocked from Pes shop, or will it be too easy and detract from the fun of master league ???

Oh dear, now I feel like I've called one of your children ugly.

I have partly solved my attacking movement problem, I had player support set to 7 :CONFUSE:. Put it on 12 and things have been a bit better.

I am now at the halfway point, played 19 got 6 points, scored 7 and let in 30 something(a lot came early in the season).

I am set on a starting 11 now and we are playing some good football. I am consistantly creating chances but the problem is quality in the box. They will either take a poor touch and the opportunity is gone or the shot will be rubbish. I am gonna sell Shimizu, Peleaz and a few fringe players and try and get in someone who is dangerous infront of goal.

I love you hardcore/sentimental old school approach with the defaults Tom, really fair-play. ;)

Do you not have a Brazilian kid, about 600 ft tall yet ? He is now a starter after 4 seasons. Top Scorer last season too, unreal with his head.

How are your doing your training by the way ? This is a lot bigger than people think this year, to be honest ?

I have a lad called Riberio, I think thats who you mean, I saw his heading stat was in the 80s. I will promote him from the youth team. I could not sign anyone in the window, not a buy or loan so I am gonna have to raid the youths anyway. All I am missing is a goal threat and I will be spanking some teams.

I dont know anything about a master negotiator Suarez, sorry.

After three wonderful games in ML as Ajax (I'm now mid-table, looking good) where I drew at home and won two away, I just experienced the most miserable game. I'm home to Groningen, I see that they are playing a high line, looks like offside trap and in the first 10 minutes I launch two lobbed through balls. The first one, to my CF, is just out of his reach and rolls pathetically into the keeper's arms. The second one, launched from deep by my DMF lands lovingly at the feet of my sprinting AMF. I'm 1 v 1, shoulder fake once and offer a curler toward the far side that bloody well hits the post! I don't know if my team got discouraged or I got discouraged or both, but after that miss our passes went astray. I don't think I had a legitimate scoring chance until the last minutes of the game. But by then, it was far too late. They crushed us 0-4. In a 25 minute game I only managed 28 interceptions to their 38. I only managed 53% possession and won just 2 corners to their 6 (they scored on 2 of them!). Vermeer played like a weeping child...

I've got to regroup.

Playing as my custom Milton Keynes FC team, I needed to get a draw or a win to be assured of qualifying from my Europa league group, I was 1-0 up, ended up losing 4-1 and thus knocked out :(
Also beat Man City (they have Neymar up front) and Liverpool (front 2 of Carroll & Berbatov) to push us up to 5th in the Prem, just a few pts outside CL qualification. Just entered the Jan transfer window, will be looking for a solid finishing CF.

Have posted a little vid below with a couple of goals from tonight's session, a couple of really nice dribbles using L2 & R2 to jink and weave and a nice R2 finish from Saha, which I think Jimmy will appreciate ;-)

PS how do i embed a youtube video so it shows instead of just a link?

Now that I'm really into my ML I need to get my mind around the whole training process. So far, it seems like I put it on technique, and then I lose some physical or whatever, so then I go back and put it on physical to get that back, and then I lose some tactics, so I then go back and put it on tactics, which makes me lose speed, what? Has anyone on these forums produced an intelligent explanation of the training process? I'm dying to get my tactics up so I that I can make the most of my corner kicks. Right now I'm not getting much except the very rare near post header when I keep the level on defensive (which seems to make room in the box since their players exit when there is no one to mark) and then manually bring up my CB and make a slight diagonal towards the near post. Occasionally though the CB Frankenstein will attempt a wacky bicycle kick volley. Looks like a wet noodle in the air..

I don't know if this is just in my mind or coincidence, but in the second half of a 1-1 game my CMF received a cynical foul just outside the box. In the cut-scene that followed he absolutely went ballistic. I swear I saw him brush aside the official! My RB had to come and restrain him before he threw down with the opponent. Anyway, on the free kick I manually drew that CMF into the box and when the free kick comes he murders it off the post. It was the most vicious header I'd seen in the game so far this year. Too bad it didn't go in, what sweet revenge!

I have no idea about this training system, I put it on conditioning at the beginning of the season and havnt touched it since. I dont get the feeling that my players are developing in this game. I liked it better in PES5 where after every game it would bring up a stats screen and show you where the players stats have increased/decreased.

That's him Tom, he will get you goals, especially from set-pieces. I trained my team a lot in Technique early doors, and the young kids really improved in all technical areas. Riberio now has Body Balance on 88, which is superb for a big lad. Keep and eye out for a Nuno Gomes, another little treasure in the making.

Oh dear Tom. HUGE mistake. They will not develop stats-wise at all with Condition only.

Try this....

For the next 6 months, work soley on Technique for at least the first 3-4 days of every week, 3 weeks of the month. In the other week, work Physical instead. On Thursday or Friday work Condition or Strategy.

This whole Training Regime is giving you the option to mould your players into a certain philosophy. Think Fergie and his 'Kids' or Wenger and his. Work a lot on Technique, that bleeds across so many areas, and you can afford to worry less about speed when they have great passing.

Your Training Regime is everything, it's how your team is built. If you want to build a strong, physical team, work that. If you want a 'Speedy' team work that, I opted for Mowbray's philosophy of getting the ball on the deck and playing football. Technique has given me that.

After half a season of training soley on Technique, with odd bit's of Speed and Physical thrown in, you'll see massive benefits. And it's the Youth's that benefit the most.

It's a great system this Tom, the best yet.

Edit -

PJR, love the goals, that Saha one at the end was the best for me, the pass was inch-perfect and the finish more than matched it.

It's all trial and error, but there is a science to it, it's just trying to find the right formula.

I have the same set of players pretty much, but now, I have my team on 4 'B's and 2 'C's. Working technique first has helped, then I focused on Physical, and my Technique barely dropped. Strategy was the last I worked. Apart from the get-go when you decide what style of play you want your team built around, try not to focus too much on one area. 3-4 days at a time is enough. Then maybe throw in a day of Physical or Speed, or finish on Strategy the day before a game. This will see your stats rise in all areas. Focusing soley on one, will see stats fall on other areas quicker.

So in the half season I have played the only stat they have increased is stamina, is that what your saying Jimmy?

I remember Riberio from PES5, amazing target man.

Yep. The only thing you have done there is given yourself the best Form arrows you can for the shitty Fitness Coach your employing.

I started with Boro, Matty Bates and Reece Williams were in the low 70's for most things. After 3 seasons, and a lot of work in Technique they are 84 and 87 Overall. There Passing, Shooting Accuracy, etc etc are all mid 80's now.

The only problem I found with all the Technique work was that my players lacked Shot Power, as this comes under Physical, (It shouldnt, but it does to balance this all out). I then worked a long time focusing mostly on Physical, now they can all dig it a lot better. I also brought in players that had decent Shooting Power, as my 'kids' had been groomed mainly on Technique.

After focusing on Physical, I then needed to better my Speed, that was on 'D' Rating. It's now on a 'B', and my other areas that had dropped to 'C' in the process are now back to 'B'. So there is a science, it just takes a lot of tinkering to see how and why, what effects what. It's a puzzle, but one that you become more familiar with the more you play around.

One more thing, during the close season, I wanted my Speed upping more. I worked 3 days Speed, then a day Physical and a day Strategy/Tactics. I then repeated. After a few weeks of this my Speed went up 3 points. I also didnt lose out on any other areas. If I'd have just gone 7 days straight on Speed, I would still have got the 3 points Speed stat boost, but I would have lost points in other areas. It's all about fine tuning and tinkering.

Wow OK, thanks Jimmy I never would of figured that out. I guess its a realistic way of doing things and the more I think about it the more I like it.
Wish I would of known that at the beginning of the season and it explains why my guys cant control the ball in the box. I am right on the verge of handing out some ass kickings and this may tip me over :WORSHIP:. I just hope I can keep my job long enough to implement it.

How does the strategy/tactics training effect the players?

At first i thought the training system was abysmal, but as Jimmy says, it just needs understanding.
I usually set it to whatever discipline, ie: speed, leave that on for 3 or 4 days then 2 days before a game set to conditioning, this helps get the form arrows and fitness up for games, then rinse and repeat working on different disciplines depending on how i want to develop the team.

I do miss the ability to train players individually though.

Also training is affected by your staff levels, a better athletics trainer and coach will boost increases and growth speed, also signing better players has an affect.
I signed an 85OVR rated CB and my defense went up by 4pts.

Thanks for the goal comments Jimmy, i liked the Saha strike best too.
How do i embed the actual video in my post like you do?

I usually just cut and paste the link and it does it automatically.

Did you super cancel Saha to get him to run onto that pass? I have trouble getting my players to connect with the ball when I try and do that, any tips?

Do you play on the PC? Your graphics look brilliant compared to mine.

That is a great question actually. I say this because I'm not entirely sure, and also, whilst I was working on every other part of the game, I let my Tactics drop to 62 Overall. I then found that things like Man Marking wasnt working as well, and I was conceding more from corners etc. So I started finishing my week with Tactics Training, the last day or two of every week. Now it's on 75 and a 'C' rating. And since that point, my team seem to be playing much tighter everywhere, as it definitely effects the Teamwork Stat.

I dont really miss the old individual training as it was unrealistic. After all, you train a team as a collective. The way this system works, is that the areas that players improve when training them, is based a lot on their original, natural strengths. So, if I have a player with decent passing stats, and I train the team in Technique, although all players will get a passing stat boost ( as well as other ares), the player that was naturally good at passing will improve in that area the most. Younger players benefit more as well, they are there to be completely moulded in your own philosophy. It's quite brilliant really. A lot of tinkering, trail and error to get your team right, which is how management works I guess.

Also, sign as many Youths as possible, keep the best ones, then put the others out on Loan. They will develop whilst On Loan, and when they come back, they will have stats increased in areas where your own players will have been trained differently. :)

Strange as you can see i pasted the youtube link and it just linked it, didnt embed the video, any ideas Jimmy??

Yeah for the Saha goal I could see he was the wroing side of the defender so i superc ancelled to move him inside toi interceopt the ball, then it was an R2 and half power shot.

Go to YouTube, go to Video Manager, click the video then let it open in a new browser. Copy and paste the link from the top of your new browser. That should do it.

I use my I-Phone, so I access Youtube through that, and choose Share Video, then copy and paste that link.

If I use my laptop at home, I use the first option. :)

This forum encodes the YouTube link without needing to use the or [IMG] code options.

I need to upgrade my PC, the PS3 version looks much better than the settings I am using(lowest). If I didnt have to spend the best part of a day copying over the OF I would go and get the PS3 version.

I am going to see if there is a program which lets me record my games so Jimmy can pay the defaults their dues and see if anyone can tell me why I cant score.

xPJRx is PES playable in 3D? If so is it anygood?

It takes 30 mins tops to copy over all the option files you need onto the PS3 mate, well worth it.

to record games on PC use FRAPS, but youll need a decent gfx card otherwise the recordings will be choppy.

PES12 does have a dedicated 3D option, and a specific 3D camera, liek the over the shoulder player cam.
It looks really good, i wasnt expecting much but Konami have actually bothered making the 3D elements worthwhile.
You can even play in wide cam using 3D , it isnt as good as the field of depth is different but still looks cool.

The game gets very choppy in any 3D mode for me, I wasn't impressed, even though the depth is there.

I think the quickest you could copy over GTM World Option File is 1 hour, it's pretty much impossible to do it much quicker than that. I've done it 3 times now, and each time was timed to be 60-61 minutes.

You have trouble scoring Tom because they are not very good, really. I know you love them, but they defaults for a reason, and that is because everyone you buy in after, will be better. And in every area, movement and positioning being a major facet.

My Component Cable came yesterday, so I'll get my son to rig his PVR up so I can record a full match.

what i found with the defaults was that i immediately thouyght they handled and played alot better than in previous games, but then as i settled in, you realise its all balanced out, the defaults are better but up against all the other teams, they are dogshit.
Its mainly the agility, turning and dribbling stats that you notice, some defaults have a cracking shot, in my first season Guiterrez scored 14 goals, but the sooner you can move them on the better.

Came back to ML after a few days, played 2 games so far, 2-2 with Swansea and 1-4 to Villa.

Chairman. Not. Happy.

EDIT: Friggin Rooney just scored an own goal with his hand in the 1st 5 mins of the game vs Stoke :(
