PES 2012 Football Life thread

i think i might start a new season with a division 2 club like west ham perhaps, bot sure yet.

i just want one more try with sunderland before i make the switch though.

i really need help with a formation because my tactics are working out for me.

in the transfer market i went out and bough some good oldies for cheap like around 6 mill but i dont know how to put them all in the teaam, i also tweaked their stats to make them more realistic to how they play in real life.

i bought Henry, Riquelme, Perrotta and Asamoah Gyan. I also got a few other decent players such as cattermole, sessengnon and shimizu.

what formation do u think i should play based on your experiances ??

I'd just play the formation your the most comfortable with, that's always the best option, as you have a natural understanding of the player positioning.

I use a 4-3-1-2 formation with Possession preset, a modified 4-4-2 really. I also have a modified 4-2-4 with a LWF (Petrov) and 3-CF's with the Long Ball preset. I then have a 5-4-1 All-Out Defence option and a 4-2-3-1 (2-DMF's)with Quick Counter option. Those 4 cover all bases for me.

I also try to build a team of 11 individual players. I make sure I have a every option player wise. Some excellent passers, a strong CF, players that can strike a ball, a Free Roamer etc etc. The more options of traits you have within your squad, the more weapons you have in your arsenal.

I've bought couple of defenders that have the Pin-Point Passer card, a LB and a CB. They offer me other avenues should I wish to utilise them.

can u please upload a picture of the formation, so i can copy it because atm things arent clicking with my team.

thanks man. seeing as though ur so enthusiastic about Pes how come u dont play on the pc. if u dont know how to set it up i can always help you :)

I've considered it at times, but with the kits and chants via Option Files for the PS3, I'm happy where I am bud. Unlike some, I'm very happy with the PS3 gameplay out of the box. Thanks anyway, appreciate the offer. :TU:

6 games in and my whole team has low teamwork stats such as 70. i dont understand why ???

btw jimmy, could u please upload of whole game play video on a random match you pay as i am curious as to how you play and how you beat the defender.

I'll record a game next week sometime once I've received my Component Cable so I can link it up to the PVR.

Sorry, didn't get chance to put PES on last night, had mates over and played the new UFC game. Then got completely addicted to the Career Mode after they left. :CONFUSE:

doesent matter :)

but i really want to know why all my players have weak teamwork stats in my football life, but outside of it in edit mode their stats are much better, and i have already played like 7 games ???

I have no idea to be honest, do they alter, depending on how they interact with each other ? I've not looked. I know that was the case in older PES games. Have you tried changing player positions, and to see how that effects the Teamwork Stat of each player ?

Doesent matter, after hours thinking about how to fix this problem, which was probaly the reason why i wasnt doing well and my team wasnt clicking, due to the bad teamwork stats, i have now decided to start a new football life as WatFord ! it's great as well as they are a very close local team.

i'll be editing a few stats of players, but i will still make the reating under 70 and below which will making scouting for new players all the more fun ! :)

Jimmy i really enjoy all your post and videos in here. I still playing PES12, most of the time Master League. Just got promoted to Premier League after 3 seasons!

You said sometime ago you didn't liked Shimizu, and i can't understand why. He's like god in my team, a nightmare to fullbacks, DMFs and CBs. The let down is the low shot power he have and i haven't mastered R2 shot, yet.

Suarez, if you like a good challenge, try default squad + 2nd division + 15min matches + Top Player. You won't have money and no player will sign with your club unless you reach PL :P

thanks, but im happy with my newly chosen Watford team. I edited some of the starting 11 and now the average rating is 72. is this too much ?? my highest rated players are:

Talyor is rated 81.
Notsworthy is rated 77
Loach is rated 77
then the next highest is Prince Buaben with 75
then McGinn at 74
Yeates at 73
Iwelumo at 72
Eustace and Mirfin at 71
then Jenkins and Hodson at 70 whilst everyone else is rated slightly lower.

do you guys think that my squad is overrated for Watford and will it take some of the joy out of being with small teams if i have such highly rated defenders.

please bear in mind that i have edited a few using websites then downgrading then a little, which is the reason why they are higher then usual default.

Thanks for the kind words, it's much appreciated. Even more so from a Brazilian. :)

As for Shimizu, sure he was 'on paper' my best player, the problem was, I just didn't bond with him. PES has the uncanny knack of being able to make this little animated players on screen come to life, and I really warm to certain players, yet others, not so much. Shimizu was the latter.

Basically, he whinged like a bitch for a long time, spat his dummy out, and at the same time didnt perform. He couldn't shoot, he had no power from range, and he was a Prima Donna, an enigma. So I cashed in on him, and Wellens did a fantastic job of replacing him. And whilst Wellens didn't have Shimizu's nifty feet, he was stronger on the ball, and he loved a dig from range. I have no regrets about selling Shimizu, and I sold him to Napoli, so at least he won't come back to bite me on the ass anytime soon.

Congratulations on Promotion bud, I know how hard that is to achieve. I'm struggling badly at the minute, but more of that later......

Not at all, they are the same as mine bud.

Ok so a little update of what is going on in my current season. I gotta be honest, it's not good at the Riverside. After just missing out on Promotiom last season, I'm currently lying second bottom of Division 2, and I have the Chairman on my case for the first time in 4 years. :CONFUSE: :(

I have to say, that I'm playing some great football, and I have a decent bunch of lads. Pretty much every man and his dog refused to join Boro at the start of the season, and I only managed to bring in a couple of players, but also lost a couple that I had on loan. I have the real 'bottom-of-the-food-chain' staff, right across the board. And I have no funds to improve them. This has a big effect on my Form Arrows and also Injuries. But, I just have to dig in and get on with it, crying aint gonna do fuck all about it.

The thing with this division is that everybody is beating each other, so I'm only 4 points off 10th place. I dropped 5 points in my last few games, I was winning away at Cardiff before they equalised in the 87th minute to rob me of 2 points. I have to admit, this season, I've been very guilty of complacency. Especially when I have that very slight 1-0 lead. The CPU will alter it's tactics and go 4-3-3 with All-Out-Attack or Long Ball, if they are chasing the lead in the final stanza. Last season I made sure I changed my tactics and formations to counter the CPU's. Usually a 5-4-1 did the trick. This season, I haven't done that as much, and I've been duly punished.

The same applies if your trailing a CPU lead, they will, take off a striker and add a DMF or defender to shut-up-shop. As if the defences are't tight enough, they take it to the next level. So as a manager, you need to adapt, and that's where the 4-2-4 All-Out-Attack strategy comes out via your on-the-fly Presets.

Anyway, after drawing with Cardiff, then losing to Watford 2-1, after leading 1-0 with 10 minutes to play (see last paragraph :( ) I was fearing for my job. I then had Derby at home, knowing that I badly needed all 3 points.

The game started very well, after some great build-up play, a dribble and R2 turn took out the defender, then the pass from Martins was dummied by Emes (R1), that took out the Derby defence, and Riberio, from a standing position, took a touch (massively important) then placed one into the corner (R2). 1-0 Boro. Boro then went two-up, when a deflection fell kindly to Martins in the Derby box (Yes, a deflection that went against the CPU for a change :CONFUSE:) he took a touch, then another R2 left footer placed it into the bottom corner (Tap shoot and aim, then tap R2).

Derby then got back into the game after schoolboy defensive blunder was punished. The CB got dispossessed and the rest was history. 2-1. Boro then got another cushion, when Martins cut inside the full-back with a beautiful Fake Shot (Circle then X aim diagonaly) and was brought down for a penalty. Martins stepped up and cheekily dinked one down the middle, (Press Shoot then tap R1). 3-1 Boro. Derby then scored again, from yet another poor defensive error on my part. Too casual. Punished, again. No complaints.

So with my cushion now reduced again to that ever dangerous single goal, Boro started to panic. Thankfully, Emnes didnt. Another patient passing move saw Boro open up a Derby defence that was now stretched looking for the equaliser. A pass to Emnes, who took a touch, then fashioned the perfect angle for the long-range placed curler (Diagional posture/angle, left-foot, press shoot, 3/4 power then tap R2). And that once again was all she wrote, as the Boro frontman bent one into the corner. 4-2 Boro and that's how it ended. Phew !!

I must admit, scoring a goal has always meant so much in this PES and ML, but when your fighting to keep your job, it's increased ten-fold.......

well in my 2nd season in the prem my season is currently going like this:

Every single player from every single CPU team is able tyo somehow adopt a messi style grace and dribble at will through my team.
The CPU chooses to take control of my defenders during lofted through balls, and momentarily stop my defender, allowing the CPU forard to get a shot in , every single time
Commentators are screaming about how a wicked curler is a goal to remember forever, when in fact it was a scrappy 2 yard tap in.
CPU players continue to foul me every time i dribble past them, I rarely get a Free kick, yet a breath on any CPU player and its a free kick immediately.
My shots are continually guided centrally at the keeper despite getting the ball out of feet, being in space, not under pressure, red form arrow, in the right contextual position, on my preferred foot and 6 yards out. Shooting is broken, fact, end of.

Despite all this crap im having to put up with from PES12, im still playing, sat 8th in the prem after 8 games of Season 2, and struggling a bit in my Europa League group.

A quick tip for anyone looking to get a more realistic amount of injuries. Set the doctor at the lowest setting(40,000) and your'e athletic trainer to HU RU JA?(spelling) saves you money and makes the game more realistic. Be careful though! much more likely that your shiny new CF will be cropped for a season! Also lower the injury setting of every player by 1.

Anyone got any tips for an effective training schedule btw?

There is a science to this, I've just yet to work out the best formula. :CONFUSE:

The reason I say this, is that certain Training effects others, but not as the game suggests. Small bursts of a few days at a time seems to work better than a week or more in one particular area. I'm still trying to find the best system, but I am getting there, and I have upped areas without having other areas decrease, this wasn't the case at the beginning.

Noticed this as well, konami could do with publishing a guide for stuff like this although it would take away from discovering the joys of this game yourself, something I have always enjoyed about pes is you discover things in the game that are not in the instruction book.

Like you mentioned even one days training in a particular area can improve stats, just struggling to find consistency with training this year just a case of tinkering till you find a happy medium. I tend to focus on strategy and condition before games which works quite well but not all the time. There's some logic in there somewhere!

By the sounds of how many people don't "get" certain things, it's about time they started explaining a lot more to be honest.

If they want to increase their sales and give them a better chance of pulling market share, leaving the game's wisdom as a treasure hunt won't do them any favours.

Absolutely !!!!

with training i usually ste a specific discipline straight after a match, ie Strategy and leave it on for a few days, anything from 2-5 depending on when the next match is, then 2 days before the game, set to conditioning, rinse and repeat varyiung disciplines along the way.

My stats have risen from around mid 50's to low 60's to high 70's and low 80's in all areas over 10 seasons, quite exponential growth really.
Obviously its affected by the level of your athletic trainer and coach also. Its also impacted by new signings.

Doing a master league with Inter, superstar 0 assists. I lie in 7th 3 points off third and safely into the Cl last 16 where I face the chelsea rent boys, unbeaten in 7 but the chairman is losing trust in me.

'Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo !!' Boro have turned a corner, and all my boys are more than chipping in to save my skin. They love me, what can I say....

So, a massively important game against Ipswich Town has just concluded, and once again Middlesbrough managed to take all three of those very valuable points. Ipswich opened the scoring with a typically messy CPU goal. 1-0 Ispwich. Boro kept their composure, and Rabiu equalised with a brilliant 'laces' strike, low and hard into the bottom corner whip severe whip, and off the back of an Explosive Burst. Who needs R2? huh ?.

Petrov then put Boro ahead after he smashed the ball with his right foot, yes right foot, the one that is normally only good to stand on, into the far corner and in off the post. The one-touch passing move that preceded the strike was as attractive on the eye as the 'laces' thunderbolt that concluded it. Again, who needs R2 ?

Boro then looked to shut-up-shop, as the manager took heed to a message to himself. Things were looking good, but a corner from Ipswich put pay to that, and nearly the 3 points as the visitors equalised late on. De Ja Vu anyone ? :CONFUSE:

With less than 6 minutes to play, Petrov was handed another chance to save his beloved Managers bacon. From 20 metres out, he remained composed and bent one over the wall and into the top corner, (The Floater). The Boro fans went beserk, my PES alter-ego punched the air before my eyes, and the Chairman was given another reason to extend my stay of execution.

Phew !! You couldnt write this drama, well, I guess you can, I just did.....

(Another tune for you Makky ;) )

Edit - Also, I added a real cheeky bit of improvisation that came so bloody close. I saw the keeper well off his line, so I tried a standing L1 Chip with Emnes from really long-range. It came so close it hurt ............

Great stuff jimmy your'e inspiring me haha, fighting for my job too but at the other end of the spectrum; if i fail to beat chelsea thats it for me I think my form and refined defensive game might have come too little to late.

Trick away trip to Parma next one of my bogey teams:CONFUSE:, just signed granit xhaka in the transfer window(1m) a steal. Great video by the way hopefully someone will dig me out the shit.

I am playing on 4 stars with no assists, default ML team and after 13 games I have 1 point and scored 6 :LMAO:.

HELP!

The problem seems to be the movement of my guys, they will get forward and then stand in amongst the CPU players on the outside of the box and do nothing. Did anyone else find the movement of the default ML players a bit rubbish?

Yes Tom, they are shite everywhere. They can't shoot, their movement is poor, and your defenders reading of the game and positional sense is dire at best. Oh, and your keeper sucks.

If your on PS3, get GTM World Option File and start with a Championship side. It's still a huge challenge, you still get your pick of the Youths and you can still build your team with better than average players and notice big improvements.

''It's still a huge challenge, you still get your pick of the Youth''

i never really use youth teams. i feel it is ''cheating'' as they are better than some of my player alreadys at the club. ALso because i know their fake, and the best joy i get out of master league is buying players. :SMUG:

The keeper Iorghenov has been pretty good for me. I have been using triangle to bring him out and close down angles and its been very succsessful.
Liebermann and Baumann have also formed a good partnership at CB. I had a couple of games where they were absolutely immense, then one went and got injured. One thing that I find annoying about the CBs and its something I hope doesnt happen with all of them, is where I will often find one of them more advanced than my DMF.
Ruskin & Gierson as always are decent players, offensively anyway.
I am playing with 3 Midfielders in a V shape with Dodo at DMF, Irjescu as CMF and Ettori in AMF. Ettori is brilliant, very good on the ball, his short passing is good and he gets forward and plays like a SS when the play gets a big more advanced.
The problem is the players that are further forward and their movement, or lack thereof. I use Schwarz or Gutierrez because they play with their backs to goal and I like to use them as a pivot, but when they have done their job at holding it up they dont seem to do much. Its the same with the 2 wide men, I use Cinalton or Peleaz on the left and Shimizu or Macco on the right. None of them do enough going forward.

I wont give up on them because I have always taken them and turned them into a winning team, its just proving quite hard in this game. I remember having similar frustrations in PES5 with the defaults, the thing with that game was I could play 7 or games with them then have a clear out in the transfer window. I have to play 19 with these knobs and I dunno if I will have a job by time the window comes. And even then from what I am reading I dont know if anyone will sign for me. But I will persevere!

When I think about all the goals I have scored so far(all 6 of them!) I think they all come using trigger runs. are they something you guys use a lot of?

Oh dear, now I feel like I've called one of your children ugly. I'm feeling your bond with them now Tom.

As for the Trigger Runs, sometimes I use them, they do still need perfect timing though. I prefer to use them by not using them, trigger the run, then dont bother with that option. Simply let the runner take out a defender as he looks to track him.
