PES 2012 Football Life thread

I see a lot of times the comp will come at you and have a chance after you've scored. But they don't necessarily score every time. You know what they're going to do...foul them high up the park. Don't let them get into the penalty box and dribble past 3 of your players. Or change to a defensive set up briefly.

That's what I do, but sometimes they will score from the following free-kick (even if it's far up the pitch, they'll lob the ball into the area and someone will head it in). I don't know, it looks like a scripted situation.

By the way, even on Top Player, I rarely get dribbled like in the situation you've mentioned. I concede mostly from crosses.

Fair enough mate. Yeah the crosses can be a bugger to concede from but I'm learning more and more to just go with the flow and not get frustrated as things go in your favour some games well and truly.

Yep, that's spot on too. Sometimes I feel like I need this forum just to vent my frustrations with the game lmao. It's still a decent footballing experience and one I'll not be quitting anytime soon.

I guess most of my problems come from the default ML players aswell. Sometimes they make the game unplayable because they cant get anything right for the sake of their lives.

^^ Thats all part of the fun mate, trying to cobble together some half decent results with crap players, so you can build some $$$ to start replacing them with better ones.
This is why i never ever play a ML as a proper team with real players, the challenge is in turning a bunch of sunday league footballers into world beaters!

I couldn't agree more. The problem is that gameplay changes too much once you make a team of world beaters. I was playing professional and having some hard time on D2. After three seasons, I won the first four games: 4-1, 5-1, 2-0 and 7-0. Killed all the fun, then I'm playing Top Player now.

Hopefully it will keep challenging. I'm 4th atm with Nice and I might get promoted, who knows.

100% Correct mate.

I need you guys help. I'm in the middle of the second season of ML and I just can't buy any player. I tried to hire the poorest free agent player and he rejected. My target list is empty. Anyone knows why?

Btw, I didn't get promoted in my first ML season, ended up in 7th. Now, 2012-2013, i'm leading but that
never happened before, I mean, not getting promoted straight away. Despite being a little "unfair", I like this AI.

Weird. Try buying players from D2 teams rated WORSE than yours in the team ranking list. They should sign.

My Rodos team are going well after around 6 or 7 games, currently unbeaten, having drawn the 1st match.

I have some edited players, have also added 3 of my old Iranian legends I had, Pashazedeh, Mahdavikia and Karimi, however I have put them at their current ages, therefore their careers are obviously in the decline but should still do well for a season or two.

Finished my first season as OGC Nice at D2 with default ML players. Got to the last day level on points with 4th placed Cantlesir Spor. I was facing Quaztolla away and they were playing some team away too, but I could only muster a draw and they won. Finished 4th, two points adrift of them.

Also lost the French Cup final to Marseille, 2-0. That one got me pissed off as all of my starting eleven got to the game on a purple arrow for some reason. Anyway, considering everything was on Top Player and I only had two signings, things faired pretty well. Ribeiro was D2's top scorer and he's still my main striker - 16 goals in 16 matches on the second season.

Already out of the Europa League, finished 3rd behind Palermo and Sporting, just two points away from qualification. Got eliminated on the 2nd round of the French Cup, lost to damn Cantlesir Spor but didnt get too bothered, now I can focus on the D2. Seriously need promotion now as I'm the richest team in the division.

I've moved out of the relegation zone with Catania. I've only won twice all season. Scoring is really difficult, even with default Catania players. I'm only playin on professional level aswell.

I am a little bit bored by the lack of variety in the CPU. Sitting 7-8 players behind the ball and then countering you by going into what i can only describe as 'Turbo Mode' where they play 3 quick fire passes before lofting a through ball which you can't do anything to stop, because for some inexplicable reason, you can't control your defender while the ball is in the air. Your keeper will come and lie down infront of the striker, and the striker will simply lift the ball over him. Goal.

Then every other game, they'll be a player switching problem where you'll press triangle to draw your keeper out, only for player switch to occur, which leads to your defender taking over to score a top quality own goal. This has happened about 7 times this season. Triangle appears to be the default own goal button.

Then when you play a top team, some of the moves they pull off are unstoppable. It's like the CPU has decided they're going to score and you actually can't do anything about it. I know scripting occurs in every game, but a little bit of subtlelty would be nice.

Other than that, the game isn't actually bad.

I started with Catania before the transfers got updated but a lot of players are still the same.
My favorite player is Alejandro Gomez, gets a tonne of goals and assists from an AM role (2nd season anyway, 1st season I struggled same as you). Maxi Lopez can also be quite useful on occasions. You found any gems?

Oh dear, after 8 games as Manager of Bolton in my ML, I've been sacked ........ :CONFUSE: :COAT:

Ok this is how it happened. Basically, I started my ML, Professional level, 15 minute games, 1.02 patch, Zero Assistance. I stupidly took the £33+ million as my transfer kitty, without really delving much further. Schoolboy error. I spent a shitload of money signing Elano, Luis Aguiar and Beneglio(sp). Beneglio I felt was a must as Jussi had been pretty poor between the sticks on 1.00 and 1.01. After I'd signed them I realised I was £8 million in the red. My Coach kept telling me I needed to balance the books come August/September. I put Reo Coker and Jussi on the transfer list in hope I could recoup the debt. I didnt. Come September the shit hit the fan. My Chairman, who already didnt like me, gave me an ultimatum, it was a 'Must Win' game, and if I didnt win it I was told to expect the sack. The game ended 1-1, and I was given a stay of execution. Another draw followed by another loss and my Coach then tells me the board are very unhappy and I'm on borrowed time. During this time, Jussi and Reo were released, my Coach, Doctor, Youth Team, and Physio or whatever, were all sacked to balance the books. I then was appointed £40,000 staff across the board. Including a Club Doctor that had just graduated from Medical School. :CONFUSE:

Next up was Liverpool, who battered me 3-0. Then I get a message from the Coach telling me that I'd been sacked, and that he was sorry but he had to go now and speak with the new manager, and that was that. My record was Won 2, Drawn 2, Lost 4.

I've never been sacked before in my ML, so this was brand new. I kind of expected it after my financial screw-up, but part of me thought the Chairman and Board were just all-talk. They weren't. :(

What I loved about my brief spell, was the fact that it requires so much more tactical thought than I'd first believed. Trying to beat Liverpool at their own game was never going to happen. I've never had this before in a PES game, I've always just played my standard tactics and formations, under the concept that my opponents can deal with what I have to offer, rather than the other way around. This doesnt work anymore, which is great. Now I'm going to have to really think about each game and opponent, and try to nick points here and there. I should have just played very defensive at Anfield, and looked to feed off any scraps, but I didnt, and it cost me.

I will start another ML with Bolton tonight, but this time, not screw up my finances, and also, try to keep on the Chairmans good side from the get-go. I'm really excited about this ML now, it's going to make me have to think like I never have before. I've never felt a PES so challenging in my life, and that, above everything else, is what I love the most. The balance of Professional with Zero Assistance, combined with a smaller team is THE most perfect difficulty level for me. If I were to play on Top Player with even 1-Bar Assistance, and with a slightly better team, I'd do very well. On this setting though, it's a real slog, and boy do I love the challenge.

Be ace if that is true now - that you can be sacked through bad results rather than just financial problems. That always niggled at the back of your mind, that no matter how bad you did, you were never gonna get sacked if you stayed in the black.

Can anyone confirm this?

I was in the Black, but only after the Debt Management Team came into the club and sorted it out. After they had done what they needed to do, I had £335, 200 in the bank. Obviously though, the Chairman was highly pissed me with over that, and pretty much wanted my head on a stick. After a few draws and losses, he had my head on a stick. :(

I think I had 3-4 warnings from my Coach. It started with the 'Must-Win' game comment. The Coach even told me to 'Make sure I had a seperate Save File' just in case I was sacked. Then the Board were unhappy for two games, then I was given the bullet. I didnt have a seperate Save File though, I didnt want one. If I'm sacked, I'm sacked, end of story. What was really weird though was how much pressure I felt playing that 'Must-Win' game. I had the world upon my shoulders, and when Elano smashed in a 35 yard FK equaliser in the 88th minute for me, I was jumping around the front room like an idiot.

Erm, in the Catania team, Almiron is quite good in central midfield. Alvarez at right back is half decent as is Maixi Lopez.

I signed Nagatomo from Inter to play left back and i think he leads the team in assists. I signed Park from Arsenal aswell. He's not bad. I also signed Tosic (cant remember where from). He has good technical ability and was fairly cheap.

I'm just struggling to score goals really. I have about 80grand to spend. Haha.

Got promotion for Ligue 1 as OGC Nice, but I'm probably going to lose out on the title to Sochaux. Fair enough, their squad is better than mine, mostly on offense, and I lost to them 2-1 at home for the season decider. Got two games to go and need to win both to have a fair shot. Couldnt be arsed tho.

I'll probably have over 15 million for transfers next seasons.

Shinzi Koroki from Kashima Antlers (Japan NT in the game), is a top SS to sign for a mid-table side! First match with him in the squad, substitute at Arsenal. Started with Pav and Gio up top but at 2-1 down with 20 minutes left, Gio's fucked. Brought on the young Jap, he plays like an early Neymar. Plenty of years in the tank to aid improvement. Anyway, after a couple of nice touches in attacking moves with Kranjcar and Pav, the ball is swung in from Shimizu on the right and the Arsenal GK clears to the corner of the box, left hand side. Koroki collects, shimmies past Vermaelan (sp?), rolls the ball on to his left and curls it into the near corner, keeper partially blinded by Bacary Sagna's robust ugliness. 2-2 and an instant Spurs hero!

WouldSo finally got PES ordered! Should be here some time in the next week! My questions are:
FL or ML which ever it may be, whats new?
And what option file are people using, would like a Championship or Serie B file, suggestions would be great! And also, suggestions on getting started what difficulties to play with for beggining? Cheers!

Goalgerds option file is very good. Try it on Professional, Top Player is a bit silly this year for me. Also, try Zero Passing Assistance, it's very hard at first, but the rewards are like nothing we have ever had before on PES. In my opinion.

Thanks mate, can you link me to a download site for that file and any others(like scorboards etc, ifthey arent included in his)? And is there any issues with OF this year last yearthe gamebegan to play slow and jumpy after i applied a certain file..
Online any good?
Sorry for any words without spaces.. on phone which just doesnt want to work -.-

Cheers.. can not wait for it get here now.. have a day off school Friday hoping and hoping its here.. only day for ages i can have clear for Gaming!

A tip for anyone looking to get a more realistic injury ratio in master league, hire the 500,000 coach from the ivory coast, much more realistic and coupled with fatigue system means you have to rotate and look after your squad even more.

Love the fact we can now sign international players in ML like last gen pes, so many more players to buy and discover, great that we can also change transfer frequency as the game is playing.

What does everybody think is the best transfer frequency, at the moment I have it set to normal but I think low maybe the way to go like pes 2011, any thoughts?

500k? what level is that? 3/5? After 2 seasons I've not had any on field injuries and the longest training injury has only been 2 weeks. I'm editing a lot of player injuries before I start a new ML and will hire the worst doctor and see how that goes.

What are transfers like on normal? I've only played with Low and after 2 seasons no real big name players have moved. Most teams still have their main starting XI and have only bought a few subs. I will be switching it to normal next time unless I hear bad things.

Iv'e done this also, use the lowest doctor or the one after him, much more realistic it seems, still need to test it more though. Not certain about transfer frequency, it does seem normal could be the best setting but need a few more season to check it out. Its safe to say high is out of the equation if your'e looking for realism.

I've set my transfer frequency to normal, I usually set it to low, but I took advice from here.

I'll post this from the main forum here, I forgot about this thread. :CONFUSE:

..........................................................................I played another 6 games in my ML last night, had a really tough time of it, but loved every second. After holding Liverpool for 70 minutes I conceded a stupid own goal that was all my fault. I then threw the 'Kitchen Sink' at them, and conceded another two on the counter. I gave them a really good game, I had my chances, very few, but you need to be taking them at this level. I then played Arsenal and went down 2-1 after taking the lead with a stunning Petrov strike. Just like the Liverpool game though, the bottom-line was the gulf in class, far too much quality to keep out for the full 90. Next up was Fulham, and in another close game,2-1, I conceded in the 87th minute after going balls-out for the win. I love how this year is a true tactical gamble as to whether to go for it, or whether to sit and and hope to feed off the scraps.

Next up was Man Utd at Old Trafford. Nightmare. I really wasnt looking forward to this one to be honest. I set-up my team with 4 Man-Markers, and looked to try and steal a point. All was going well until Rooney smashed one in from 30 yards out, right into the top corner. You just dont save them. I had signed Ruud Van Nistlerooy on loan at the beginning of the season. Even at 35 I figured the guy knows where the back of the net is, and he would give me something different as a bit-part player. He had scored a few goals for me, but I handed him his first start at Old Trafford. It was in the script ? Wasn't it ? Yes it was. A beautiful lobbed through-ball from Elano and a perfectly timed run from Ruud beat the offside trap and in he went on goal. An R2 finish into the bottom corner. 1-1. Bolton defended for their lives but conceded very late on from a bullet Vidic header from a corner. 2-1. With the last throw of the dice I went Preset 2. Another great pass from Elano picked out Muamba, who held off the challenge from Vidic and dinked it over the keeper to make it 2-2 in the 89th minute. Bolton held out for an amazing point at the League leaders hunting-ground.

Next up was Wolves, this already was a 6-pointer, and 90 minutes later Bolton had a valuable 3 points, courtesy of a 3-1 win and a hatrick from Davies.

A trip to Villa in the 2nd round of the F.A. Cup ended with a 2-1 loss for Bolton. They gave everything, but fell short to the pace of Bent and his two goals.

It's truly amazing how the games play out, every team plays differently and offers up their own unique problems. I just love how playing with Bolton, feels like Bolton. We have a battle to stay within the EPL, even though the Chairman expects a Europe spot. I cant see that happening, but I'm having a ball just trying to stay relevant.

I've never been so engrossed within an ML for years, and never before have I truly felt like the team I'm playing with. This is just, brilliant for me.

Nice post again Jimmy.

Bit of a tough run of fixtures you had there. It really is hard playing the top teams, just how it should be. 9 times out of 10 Bolton will get nothing out of these games but those 1 or 2 times you do get something feel so wonderful.
Same at Catania, I routinely get beaten by AC, Inter and Juventus, but man did it feel great when I managed a 3-3 vs Milan or beat Inter once after setting up special tactics and focusing like never before for the whole 95 minutes.

Come up against a mid table or bottom team you have a much better chance of winning, just like it should be.

Agree, you feel like the team you are playing. Love the passing game but often I have to lump it up to Maxi Lopez, for him to win a flick on or try to hold it up. I also have some tall, strong defenders. Especially against big teams, I see set pieces as my one big hope of scoring a goal, so true to real life. Soak up pressure and hope to get lucky on a set piece.

How do you find transfers on normal level, the other guy didn't answer my question on that.
Had an idea today: As transfer frequency can be changed in the middle of the game I will start with it on low for my next ML. The game includes summer transfers, so I don't want to see too many new transfers at the start of ML. Will keep it low for the first Jan tranfer window too and then move it to normal.

Can't wait to start a new ML. Just editing some kits/emblems/stadiums etc for more authenticity first. Will then edit players to be more injury prone, hire the worst doctor and do what I just mentioned for transfer frequency. Should be epic.
