PES 2012 Football Life thread

Madmax, i think its down to the club coaching stats. If you search for other clubs you can see where their training priorities are at

About 14 games in to my first Master League of 2012. Started with Sporting Lisbon.
I'm looking for a bit of reassurance here that players will actually grow. So far 80% of my squad have actually declined in overall ability. Only by the 1 point but still. This does not appear to be an age thing either as this has happened to my young players as well as those in their 20's and 30's. Please tell me that the clowns responsible for FIFA 11's career mode have not found themselves employment with Konami.

Is there anything obvious i am doing wrong here? I have rotatated the squad but not too much. I am second in the league, scoring goals as well as managing to keep my fair share of clean sheets (playing on professional at the minute). Is there a player growth option that i missed during the set-up? Does changing the training too much have a drag effect on players capacity to improve?

You can switch it off completely before the start of a ML, but yeah, I found the same tbh. I just left it on 'Condition', which supposedly had no degradation on any stats but still found them to drop.

Only thing I can think of is hiring a better Coach

From my experience I can assure you that the players grow (unrealistically too), I have played 5 ML seasons and on average young players (18-22) grew by almost 15 points, obviously having a better coach matters a lot.

I have a question.
I want to start a ML with a Portugese team, but i don't want it to be one of the 4 clubs that were previously in the game (Porto, Benfica, Sporting and Braga).
I'm searching a nive, attractive team that isn't absolutely hopeless.

At the moment i'm doing a league with Maritimo...but i want to do a ML with another Portugese team. Any suggestions?

Thanks for answering my question.

In ML i have seen some of my default players growing +6 in overall and i haven't finished the first season yet:

Xechinto is now 67 and Maqualao 70. Zarate (youth) grew +10, from 55 to 65 iirc. On the other side, some of my defenders and my gks decreased in overall (Palmieri, Schmidt, Jaric, Fatecha).

The thing is my training regime was Condition for 1-2 days and Technique for the rest of the week, always this way.

My conclusion: Offensive players will grow with technique but defensive players will decrease, because they need good physical and tatical attributes and you'll lost them if focusing on Technique.

ps: I'm scoring a lot of free kicks in my ML, its just too easy. What you guys think?

Feeling the toughness after being promoted. Could sign two-three players only for the next season and still had to release a couple in order to save my finances. I'm 10th, being 5-2-4. Really glad I've got Szelawce at home and WE United away coming soon so I have two easy wins, hopefully.

All teams seem to play three forwards, two of them being wide. Guess I'll have to change to something like 5-3-2 on away games or against better teams. I only win when I score first, except for my 2-1 derby win over Lyon.

Your comment in relation to training makes sense. I might rotate the training more often to see if this results in more general growth accross all positions in the squad (as well as getting a better coach). The only issue i have here is that i am unsure what the relationship is between growth and what happens on the pitch - is there any or is it all down to the training?

Who are you using leandropuc86?

I ditched the Swansea idea and built my own team out of Copa Libertadores players around the same standard as the defaults. Allows me to fix up my keeper before starting.

Lukas I'll have to give that a go, I never really bothered to alter training on my last go. Did you hire a better coach?

One thing i've noticed while playing BAL is that they will train your skills early in the week, then condition you 1 or 2 days out from the game (the drink bottle icon I assume is conditioning). Maybe give that a try in ML see how it goes

Yep, checking out BAL training regime might be a good idea - CPU mixes all types of training in BAL. Not all of them within single week, but rotation is more or less complete within two or three weeks.

Prof, do you have a suggestion for a Portugese club (but not the big four)? I don't know the Portugese competition at all and in the past the ML's i enjoyed most were those with clubs i didn't know at all...i have good memories about ML's with Palermo (a favourite team since then) and Sochaux

How about Vitoria Setubal for no other reason than they have a player called Claudio Pitbull. That and I guess they have been starved of success, apart from a few Portuguese Cup titles.

Thanks for the suggestions...i will try them all...I'll let you know what i've done.

Prof, what will be your league structure if you play with Novara? Will you create Italian teams or include other nations' teams like Greek or Turkish teams?

Perhaps i might include Greek, Turkish, Romanian and Croatian teams in my Portugese league...not sure...

I think you can edit those clubs or change the league structure in the edit mode...last year i've edited Gazariccio e.a. I made the Jupiler League and the Bundesliga using FM's stats...but it took me weeks to do that...

I'm playing AS Saint Etienne. Managed two wins, five draws and two losses from the last nine games. Should've been four wins if Larsen Touré scored the two penalties he missed in both of my nil-nil draws.

Anyway, the goal is to stay in the first division and I'm sitting pretty on the middle of the table at 28 points.

He's Brazilian and used to score loads in the Brasileirao. How are his stats?

Probably good to focus on conditioning in the pre season and then more technical ball work during the season and before a game ;)

I try to do conditioning just after a game. The rest of the week I just put it on technique, speed, strategy or physical. I have the worst coach so it doesnt change much.

Things are finally clicking for my Saint Etienne side. I'm four points away from CL qualification after winning a few games on the trot. My most recent win was a walkover against Auxerre, 4-1.

Just started up my Rodos (Greece) team again, in a multi-nation league using Goalgerd's patch, although I've added a load of teams myself.

I will admit that I've added a few players into my team which I usually do, 4 greek players(GK - Nikolaos, DEF - Dracos, MID - Zeus, FOR - Dokos), an egyptian (ST - Kaleiffa) a Nigerian (DEF - Bouma). They are edited to be my main players. I'll now top up with lesser known players and try and get a right few Greek boys in the team.

Face a friendly against Rapid Vienna.

I tried a test few weeks before and found it very hard to entice players to the team so hopefully I can bring in players this time as I have a small squad.

Looking at transfers:- Added Karimi (Iran) whom I hope to bring, a couple of big strikers (want to sign 1) Nuhiu and Mouba (I think it was), El Mabouraki (DEF, Morocco - Default ML player), an Iranian midfielder who's name escapes me (soemthing like Hirasadarf, good playmaker). Attkbara (Guinean wide-man) and a Otcavik (Turkish winger, Glencirbigli - sp?).

On the youth team, probably look at the likes of Palmieri and Shimzu.

Missed on qualification for the Europa League. An abysmal run of four draws and three defeats on the last seven games left me at 12th by the end of the season. Not that bad for a team filled with players on the lower 70's.

Here's my team:

GK: Mert Gunok - 71 OVR
RB: Shotton - 69 OVR
CB: Palmieri - 71 OVR
CB: Schmidt - 63 OVR
LB: Ruskin - 59 OVR
DMF: Tolchotrzyn - 60 OVR (77 OVR as CMF, but I dont play with CMF's)
DMF: Dodo - 63 OVR
AMF: Feghouli - 70 OVR
LMF: Rose - 71 OVR
RMF: Shimizu - 73 OVR
ST: Larsen Touré - 66 OVR

The team is reasonable enough but I need a better squad. My reserves are mostly default ML players and since I dont play anyone with bad arrows, you can picture it. Gotta invest on better coaches since I wont have any money for signings.

Is it just me, or does the CPU constantly score cheap late goals? Where by your players which you don't have control of just do absolutely ridiculous things.

Another thing, does anyone else feel their players have next to know strength to hold opposition players whilst dribbling or just holding the ball up?

With every pro evo I've always noticed the CPU's 'tricks', but this one seems worse than ever in Master Legaue.

One other thing, has anyone else experienced players being stuck on one form, unfortunately down/purple arrow.

My antidote for your first issue when I'm winning at least is to just pass the hell out of the ball from 75-80 mins until the end when I've got possession.

And yes, their players can hold up to three of mine when on the ball. No player of mine will try a clean tackle aswell (despite me pressing X, releasing R2 or doing anything I should do). I avoid the slide tackles as the CPU scores 80% of them.

For the last issue, just check if he's unhappy with something. Are you playing him out of position? If not, check his condition ratings on his stats.
