PES 2012 Discussion Thread .......

Regarding the advantage, I feel there might be something wrong, but I'd like other people's feedback on it...

Yesterday I'm pretty sure I hammered a Bayern player inside my penalty area, and the advantage was given... Lucky for me, 'cause it ended up not being a penalty, but as far as I recall, there shouldn't be advantage rule for penalties, correct?

I'm really looking forward to playing this with more teams, and in a competition setting... Playing friendlies with these teams is getting a bit old - I'm resorting to playing PES2011 most of the time to help the time go by, but now it's hard to go back to 2011 as well ;)

Also, I like the change of defending mindset, but at the same time, I do feel that something was lost in terms of balance and realism - or maybe it's just me who has to learn how to do it properly. In real life, you can pressure some players in some situations with a shoulder charge. While in previous versions it would be overpowered, it now seems to be almost impossible to do, which results in wingers dribbling past you with ease. I'm not sure I've seen so many situations in real life where the winger went near the corner flag and then was able to dribble past the defender into the penalty are with such ease.

I guess I'll have to get used to it - looking forward to some defending tutorials :)

Cheers guys, off to play some more.

1. Reverse catch up bug ? lol

Are you saying once the cpu goes past your defender you can catch him with ur defender? Even tho he is dribbling the ball you don't gain on him at all, even if ur player has 99 top speed.

Are you going to buy the game with that, in your opinion, many stuff bothering you ? :JAY:

No I won't, im going to wait and see if its possible for some of those bigger flaws to be somehow fixed by jenkey or perhaps by PSD somewhat ( stats at least ), and so fort.

If at least half of them can somehow be improved or fixed I might buy the game.

Pes will not suck because of this but

1. I agree, i don't know what i have to do to catch attacking players when they are running in counterattacks, i try to run, but it's like something stops the defender to run at maximum speed

2. didn't experience this, but i agree that scoring from crosses is easy

3. Agree, again. Now it's ridicolous becuase players move much more, but they still keep the ball near their feet as attacked

4. Agree, goalkeepers not good enough

5. Not a problem for me. Individuality is definitely still there.

6. Not a problem for me.

7. I agree that sometimes it seems like things get too random, players slowing down receiving a pass, defenders being unable to catch attackers

8. Animations are not a vital problem. The above problems should be fixed first.

I did mention mostly all the problems but I have to agree with you aswell, 5,6 and 8 are not vital, however 1,2,3,4 and to some extent 7 are more vital and specially the first 4 are extremely vital, if that got fixed the game would look MUCH MUCH better and more enjoyable.

I'm all good Jim, reading more than posting. Been sorting bits and bobs out in the real world so generally not had as much free time. Generally speaking, loving the new demo. Next year I really do think they need to crack on with bringing the aesthetics and the presentation up to standard, as well as offering things like Clubs. Obviously there's still room for improvement in the gameplay but it is about refinement rather than any utterly huge misjudgements. The shooting could do with a bit more error from distance but that's patchable.

I'm looking to cut down on my number of game hours in general, which seems to coincide with one of the richest gaming winters in history, but I'm just gagging to play MLO and FL this year. It's going to be insanely good for pretty much the entire PES season. If next year they can get us four tiers in ML and give us unlimited team slots, maybe tournament editors for ML/myPES etc, AND make plenty of cosmetic changes accordingly, then it's going to be hard to see past PES for 2013 whether you're a hired media hand or not.

Yes.Had two players booked by ref after playing advantage last night.

I remember someone getting a red card after the ball had gone out of play. I was so surprised I had to replay it to see what had happened. Turns out that as I was running down the wing, I had pressed cross just as he lost the ball, the player control had switched to another player and he slide tackled off the ball, right next to a defender, chopping him. But this was on the other side of the pitch. Those referees have eyes in the back of their heads!

a wierd dude in a suit doing laps

I wonder who that guy is, its very strange to see him running up and down all the time, lol. Maybe they should switch it to a group of subs warming up, running up and down on the touchline.

It's not impossible, I've done it many times, pushing people off the ball with a body check, but it requires good timing and positioning to not only reach the player in time before he skips past you, but also not to foul him. Especially if you have a player with good defence and body balance, it is a bit easier to do.

I cut Short passing accuracy, Long passing accuracy, Shooting accuracy, Header accuracy and Freekick accuracy by ~30%. Then decreased dribbling speed and dribbling accuracy by 10. Globally on every player. It plays awesome now IMO. Will do the same with full release... can't wait to start my BAL career.

Konami have done the donkey work over the last two years, transforming the gameplay and AI, so next year there can be no excuses for sub-standard animations and visuals. I think Konami need to almost exclusively dedicate their resources to the visuals over the next 12 months. The gameplay is there, it just needs some tweaks and subtle improvements.

PES2012 will be a great game, but Konami really have the chance to knock it out of the park next year. I hope the feedback emphasises that the so-called "fluff" needs a much-needed overhaul. Konami should not be ashamed to do an EA and make the gameplay a lesser priority.

Great saves! now:

-Are you using some kind of gameplay patch or change the keepers stats with an editor?
-Or is the demo just like it is?

What about this vids? final final code or something?
Just say why did you putted on, i'm curious. :P

Just out of interest Rom, did you play much offline ML last year? Every iteration I try and get into it, but ultimately lose interest after a couple weeks because of the AI.

This year's looks more of a challenge in attack and less ruthless in defence so I'm hoping it'll last me a fair while. Given the choice I'd never venture online if the CPU AI was a varied, adequate opponent. Wouldn't have to put up with the morons online and could get stuck into the fantasy elements.

Just hope it doesn't become undervalued by sweetspots and certain weaknesses (lack of ball retention/overpowered crosses)

It's not about exclusively dedicating the resource to one area they
can spread it to all areas of the game to a high standard. They just need
the right direction.

Konami could do with someone that's got a broader prospective on world football to deal with the product on a whole to compete with ea and leave seabass to the gameplay.

Graphics are fine for me....while the gameplay is good there's still plenty to expand upon, and there always will be. Hence why it's absolutely hilarious when Rutter tries to make out progression is difficult.

To me, if they overhauled the graphics but left the gameplay unchanged next year, after the initial wow-factor there'd be little to interest me to keep playing as I'd have experienced it all before over the course of the year.

There are tonnes of gameplay nuances to rectify or build-upon, and that should always be the focus.

What program are you using?

That is very much the focus of feedback - along with whatever quirks this game throws up - for PES2013 I can assure you... and Konami are listening :))

I think they need to set up a team 100% dedicated on getting goalkeepers animations and A.I up to standard (if the dont already). the animations can be so bad that even a great goal can be spoilt when you look at the goalkeepers animation on a replay.

I think the NHL series does this? with the goalkeepers animations and behaviour looking quite life like, I even think they include things like 'can the GK see the puck when it is hit' and this will effect the outcome of the save attempt.

Could you upload your dt04 file, gab?

http://www.mediafire.com/?lx3sw3ikua5c3yu

Not sure if it's enough if you're using jenkey's patch, not sure what I did exactly to make it work with his. Think you might need an edited unnamed_26.bin in dt04 in kitserver. But try it and see if it works as is. You can see clearly if it works in management screen for the player because they have low accuracy values.

Might need to tweak accuracy a bit more, maybe only move it down 20%. Depends how sloppy you like your football :SMUG:

Edit: Oh well maybe someone else would like to try it out and see what they think.

This has been in PES for at least 3 years. It's a superb feature that removes any scripted feel. If the keeper's sight is obscured, he will only dive and react once he has a clear vision of the flight path. Hence alot of the time people will complain about poor keepers, when really, if you check the replay, they cannot see. This is at its most apparent in congested areas, such as corner-kicks.

This. I always watch the replays when I feel the keeper could have done better, and most of the time I realise his view is blocked by a defender and he dives late. I believe it has been in PES even since the PS2 days though Jimmy. Since WE6 as far as I can remember.

your right, I scored a deflected goal today that left the keeper frozen he had no chance of getting it as he had started leaning the other way, look life like.

they could tie this in with keepers stats better tho. A keeper with a very high reflex stat would be able to react and collect the ball, average stats the keeper may be able to 'get something' on it but the ball is still live and a keeper with a low reflex stat would be unlikely to react quick enough when he sees the shot late or it takes a deflection.

FIFA demo :

What i liked

+ smooth animations
+ weight of the ball
+ sound of the ball
+ curving shots
+ arena

What i did not like

- pace of the game
- passing [seriously, passing is the worst thing and so horrible it is the main thing that puts me of off Fifa, you cannot pass hard enough for the ball to move fast, PES passing is like light years ahead]
- AI is always 100% in the right position on field and always on your back, not realistic , players in real life make mistakes and do not stick to their position like glue no matter what
- gameplay feels static
- gets repetetive after many games

PES demo 2 :

What i like

+ pace of game
+ passing
+ actions which you can create, much more freedom than in Fifa
+ Players make mistakes like in real life
+ long shots
+ after many games the game is still enjoyable
+ freekicks are nice

What i did not like:

-keepers should be better in some situations
-sound and weight of the ball makes it somewhat feel like a bowling ball
-sometimes ball bounces too much off of the players

Verdict PES:

Presentation: 7

Graphics: 8

Sound: 7

Gameplay: 8

Lasting Appeal: 8

Overall: 8

Verdict FIFA:

Presentation: 7

Graphics: 7

Sound: 8.5

Gameplay: 5

Lasting appeal: 5

Overall: 6.5

This could very well be true and is something I will look to seek some clarification on as it could be implemented well to a fault. Not that I want it removed which brings me onto...

...this! I did a front page editorial on WENB as to how keepers could be better realised an possess more in the way of specialised stats and index cards. If that model of the keepers reaction being subject to his vision is a very telling factor, then it would hugely benefit the game if more could be done in the way of really bringing out keeper individuality in order to compliment this keeper AI logic.
