PES 2012 Discussion Thread .......

I have a broke PS3 sitting here and only own an xbox other than that and i completely agree. PES was at it's best when Konami focussed on one console.

PES has been multi plataform since PES 3. Normally the PS3 is the one that gives an headhache to game developers, so why should it be exclusive for PS3?

I find the lack of acceleration a problem. like neymar should be able to accelerate away from people but it's like he's running in quick sand

That hasn't been true for years to be fair.

PES 3 was multi platform in the most minimal sense of the word. PC and PS2 is nothing compared to what followed. I thought it was unanimously agreed that going multiplatform was responsible for PES2008?

That said, this is an utterly pointless discussion and I'm disappointed in myself for adding to it :(.

Alright. Things I've noticed.

- You will get acceleration from tapping the running button. (In my case R2)

- I was upset because I could not play like Barca with Porto. I could do it in 2011 but not here. Despite setting it up tactically the way Barca would play. It's much more efficient and easier to play counter attacking football. Then I realized, there is a reason Barca plays like Barca and most teams play counter attacking football in real life. It's hard as fuck. Maybe that is what was happening, and unless you have a team full of super technically adept players like Barca does, it will be really hard to replicate in PES 2012. Hopefully that is the reason, not that the game is broken and possession football is useless.

- Played two games in PES 2011 after 4 games in 2012 demo. I still enjoy 2011 a lot despite its niggles and bugs. Mainly because defenders can't skip past opponents, and when you get a player like Hazard you can immediately tell the difference. Takes a little longer to tell the difference in 2012.

- The AI is great though, specially the opponents, they attack and berate you. Totally different from 2011 where they just sucked. No depth in their passes or idea of when to shoot...Seedorf had a screamer on me, and I was left with my mouth open. Mainly because I had kept set up shop, we were up 1-0. He sees that it will be tough to get through the amount of players I have defending, and just let it rip. I also saw some attempts at the typical long ball to Zlatan for him to head it down to Pato. It was nice.

-Dribbling is overpowered, I have to defend Robinho with three players, otherwise he will kick my ass. A little over the top, PES 6ish really.

Enjoying it alot regardless of the faults. It's simply fun. Let's see how long the fun lasts, for me PES 2011 lasted the full year for the first time since PES6. Now I am not completely sure 2012 will do the same. Lets see.

how the gameplay taylor? tell me more im downloading and its longggg =p

Imo its fantastic, just a few details, such as keepers etc that need ironing out, but otherwise brilliant! Though warning for defending, they will tear you apart if you dont watch your step!
Also they seem to slide to shoot and pass quite often :S

Can someone tell me if there is any downside to creating a UK PSN account on my US PS3, just so I can dwld the demo?

(as far as I can tell it's not on the US PSN yet)

Just guess what console I only have? Yes, it's the one. Dammit, was really looking forward it to it.

I don't buy the "wrong language"-explanation, otherwise the demo would have been released for Japan.

I think it's that Konami fixed the running-bug in last minute and Microsoft decided to restart the licensing-process, meaning the demo will be released in two weeks.

Really a shame, but as it is as it is, I would just skip this first demo and prepare the second demo based on final code to be released on time if I were Konami. No point in waiting two weeks for this first demo and then a week later the second demo comes along...

Did this come from the informer inside your head?

In terms of passing, Ai movement as a team or indivdualy the game is fantastic!

About passing my only complain is the fact thar i'm not having freedom enough to make some long air balls from one side to another to reverse my attacking play.

Passing feels a lot more free, i have to stop using manual modefier too much, i've been missing some because of this, but some lateral manual passing i already did is just awesome, the ball physics curling on the field is amazing, it is exactly what i expected.

About dribbling, i really like the 1-1s feauture, it really works as pressure (thank God) is nowhere unbalanced, so you really have to use jockey, but i'd like cpu to have less emphasis on this, more passing, less dribbling (but it's nice watching Robinho attitude and personality on the field), and more balance in favor to defenders, and the likes of RObinho and Ibra really need to tone down their agility and control. Peronally, i think when the cpu stops like using r2 and then dribble to one side, these moves are a bit too overpowered and fast. Needs to be easier to disposses, but yet a real challenging (nothin like pes 2011).

I know konam will work on stats, but Milan is a super team, it's bullshit!

I would still like to see a short-term staminia having big impact. I played against my brother and i could see that it's still easy to run towards an opponent player, then right after to another player and to another using the same player (don't know if you get this, but it's really important for realism and overall balancement). With balanced and lesser teams, i think i can beat my brother easily as passing fast like he usually does is harder, but now i see how much needed this kind o stamina calculations are needed to the game.

That's enough for the moment.

there is no downside...this is what I do every year.

I have an UK account in backup for pes demos =p

there is no downside.

Uhm, PES was on Xbox since PES5, and PES5 and 6 is largely considered to be the best in the series, so that completely obliterates your point.

No Shot Technique either which is criminal. That's the R2 shot, lob, dink card. At least we still have the Talisman Card. :CONFUSE:

Bloody hell, can someone on WENB tell Adam so he can confirm/ask Konami? This is a big thing for me tbh. I don't its the 'explosive power' stat either as that's got to be Acceleration surely. Not happy about this. The Passer card was excellent for re-producing inconsistent passers who can play the occasional inspired through ball. And agility was essential at separating the likes of your Riquelmes to your Giovincos, both excellent dribblers but very, very different in style.

Ibrahimovic is looking like a world beater on this game, beat 4 Napoli players just by walking past them pretty much and free kicks seem a little slow and floaty, even when i tried to power it?

I just can't believe Seabass got rid of it completely. Maybe since it's a technique, it might have gone under place kicking with FK accuracy and PK taker or under shot accuracy, or under some skill card. And people complaining about aggression, isn't that "Attack" under Resistance tab now? Also, Explosive power is Agility as far as I know.

Just played my first half of the new demo. There is a real WTF???-moment when you first start playing, the difference from PES 2011 in incredible. It feels looser at first, with less control, but I have had that feeling with new PES games before so I'm not worried yet. I'm playing Santos, and Penarol were making me look bad in the first 30 minutes, I hardly got off my own half! 2 goals from them as well. Then, in extra time, came my first demo goal, which felt legendary, although maybe not for the right reasons. A Penarol defender passed the ball back to Sosa in Goal, who waited a second and then promptly fired the ball into Ganso's face, from where it rebounded into the goal.

Couldn't it be that some stats and cards were renamed?

Possibly, but to what? I couldn't see any players with any cards that resemble specialist passing, and you'd hope there'd be a few in Milan, Porto, Santos and Napoli....

Explosive power sounds more like Acceleration to me, which is otherwise missing. Incorporating them into one stat wouldn't work because of reasons I mentioned before, Agility and Dribble Acc. need to be separate to differentiate different type of players.

Has dribble accuracy been blended in with speed? Because of most of the Peñarol players handle the same as Neymar albeit with slower less frantic touches.

Speed is a separate entity but yeah, poorer dribblers carry the ball far too easy for my liking. One of the things I liked much about PES 2011 was it forced you into thinking wisely when controlling someone with limited technique, and I even thought it could be accentuated further if truth be told.
