PES 2011 Discussion thread

Just a heads-up: the first wenb podcast of the new season is supposedly due today, hopefully with some PES2012 hints. I'm quite looking forward to it as that means the hype-train is almost ready to depart.

Choo-choo!

The game should go back to the old PS2 pace and tempo. They really sucked the fun out of the game, just like fifa 11. 80% of the time i spend playing the game i am bored. And putting replays for every foul is probably the biggest fail ever for a pes game. Ball physics is also plainly wrong.

still i have the feeling the next one is gonna be a masterpiece.

How about being more specific rather than just saying things along the line of "the game sucks"? Doesn't really prompt a discussion does it?

And PES6 a better game than 2011, seriously?! :FAIL:

8 game from 10 with pes11 i always get frustrated, i always get cheap goals, the ai takes ridicilous actions. Its not about winning or losing its about how you win and how you lose and the result depends on always how the ai and cpu "want" it. Its so scripted that is unbeliveable. If i were english i would use the f word like 30 times in a match. That tells something. Ridicilous also how does konami try to simulate the realism with implementing so called cheats and lets the cpu decides the game. This is simulation....oh my.
Last week i have only played with pes 6 because one of my friend came along and he hates pes 11 period. So we played with the 6th part and....i simpley enjoyed it, it wasnt "engineered for freedom" but it was pure joy with lot of actions, with fluid game, with nice goals...it was simply fun to play with it.
I think konami lost control over his game this year...they are trying to create something that can not be created. A soccer simulator....really everything has to be really that close to the realism? I dont think so. Pes 6,5 and maybe 2009 was in between the realism ( i think about shooting, passing etc) but this is...eeehhh...too much. I want to play...and i think you can not simulate a football match... you can make driving simulators, thats ok....but football? Im starting to belive that is impossible. And thats the case with nba2k games too. It is an awesome game...but if its come to the real life realism the cpu decides the game not your or your players skills.
WHY DO I WOULD PAY FOR THIS?

You're leaving a game full of bugs to another one full of bugs. What's the point?

It's not easy finding a sports game that is bug-free tbh. Don't think that game exists, yet.

I say we should all stop taking games seriously and try enjoying them more. Maybe I don't make sense but tbh I can't be bothered pointing out bugs anymore. I barely play anyway and when I do I just want to enjoy. No time to nit-pick for me.

Exactly. I agree with you i play about 5-8 games per week but its enough for not to enjoy the game. As i said its frustrating ..badly. And ofcours i would lie if i would say i didnt play 30-40 good matches without bugs. I have played but its not enough compared to the other 120-130 idiotic matches.

About fifa i have only played a few matches about 10-15 and yes its not better than pes im not saying that...because its boring like hell. I have never felt that after a game that i have to go back there and enjoy another terrific match or i have to prove this time i am better. I felt nothing...it was ok but nothing more lets quit.

Plus i had enough of Konami's lasyness. The squad of my national team has not been updated since 2009. WTF seriously? This game has really few teams but Konami doesnt have time to create 5-10 new players for them or what?
And you can say that yes this is just a shity hungarian NT but cmon think about it! A squad form 2009 in the year of 2011???

Well at least it ain't from 1954 :P

Actually, it's better if it was

But seriously, i think Gabe brings up some good points. I have had some similar experiences. Sometimes the scripting is too severe. It's made more obvious by gameplay conventions that only affect the player (vs AI). I'm waiting to see what they do with 2012, but I don't have my hopes too high. At the end of the day I want to have fun, and while PES2011 can be fun (which is why I keep playing) it is often marred by some of the most frustrating moments in gaming. I don't want PES to become FIFA, but Konami needs to learn some lessons from western game design.

Well honestly i think that our golden generation from the mid nineteens would be no match for example for a championship team...if you think about it they are 50 years behind them phisycally. It would be like 12 Neymar on the field. :P I rescpect them but i doubt that they did spend they spare time in gyms :)

I hear what is being said about cutbacks and low crosses. But how many times it happens and the success ratio is way too high.
It also doesn't help if your opponent has 4 upfront and 7 in his goal area. Sure you hold midfield but one honk upfield followed by a run and triple tap is annoying as hell. MLO is a pain in this instance.

As soon as you see a high ranked player its always with the same tactic. Please fix this konami.

Finally Got The Game Running Perfect

PES 2011

Yes and finally i got all the settings right and the game is exactly how i imagined it is actually a much improved 2009 version which i must say konami did actually listen to me which is amazing

and what was the problem, the problem was i was running nod32 antivirus which was slowing things down

thanx konami i have to say please make sure you don't touch the gameplay

Re: Finally Got The Game Running Perfect

So this is on PC hey? I have it on Xbox 360 but wish I had the flexibility of importing commentary and editing leagues etc.

Haven't played PES 2011 in a while, yesterday's experience was different, in a good way. After playing on -1 speed for a while, I went back to -2, plus using the Middle close camera.

Gamespeed-wise, some may say it is too slow, but tbh I think its about how you play. I try playing football the way I'd do in real life, and this speed is just perfect for me.

Camera-wise, it forces me to play in a different manner, closely watching opposition movements, more of the short passing and close control, and more importantly, opens up more creativity for me. Then using the radar for further away players, just like vision in real life.

Love it this way now and think I'll stick with it.

Hey guys - quick question regarding saved replays. I notice that when you play them back, they're at a slower speed, and you can speed it up with the right stick but I think holding the stick all the way to the right is almost a bit too fast? Or does anyone think that the full right position is normal game speed? Don't want to make a compilation that people fall asleep watching...nor do I want to make one that looks like the end of a Benny Hill episode haha

after going back to pes3/5 i find really impossible to play pes 2011, i tried last nite and i lasted 1 half. I guess i couldn't overcome its fundamentally wrong ball physics and the lack of good pacing, flow and tempo. Also they changed the 1 thing i love the most about pes 2010: the broadcast camera!!! The in game camera are seriosly crap with all that weird moving around.

is the japanese version any better o different from the EU version? i tried the japanese demo and it seemed a much better game.

P.S.
we9lek people...as soon as i find some time i'll be joining you!!

Must admit, the way the cam lags behind is annoying.
Not really had that problem on the pc apart from a little slow down now & again. with the lodmixer within kitserver this unlocks alot of the game graphically and the performance is much improved, its as if konami on purpose dumb the game down so the consoles can handle everything better and also medium spec pc's. you would have thought low/medium/high settings would be sufficient but evidently not.

Still enjoying playing it but only for a couple of hours a day,but thats fine when playing other games or doing other things, i dont think we have quite reached the addictive gameplay of yesteryear but i think we may be just around the corner.;)

EDIT on reflection some of this post maybe sounding a bit like a battle cry for console flame wars. It is not the case,i just say things as i see them, EA seem to have the console versions nailed but with konami it seems the other way round, although my point is konami didnt expect the community to ramp the pc version up to what it is capable of. The reworked coding (komu patch) and klashman and yairs tweaks along with the lodmixer (Level Of Detail) makes the pc version far removed from the out of the box version. Anyway this is one old git who has booked is ticket on the hype train for 2012 choo choo! because if once again konami dont quite get it right (without a doubt this game does improve every year) the community will. Peace.

I keep reading the same thing every year about the PC version being the best one. I'm not sure I'd want to play it on PC tbh as I'm used to consoles, but must say its very tempting.

Whenever your winning against a high ranked opponent the connection suddenly gets bad and the game stops and when you look at your match results no match was played anyone else experienced this?

I used to feel exactly the same, i didnt like the idea of playing games like fifa 2005 with no controller support(although thats no longer a problem with various controller mapping tools, but most top pc games now support the 360 controller)and it all seemed a bit too much. I was quite happy with my ps2.

It was the modding of pes which finally made me change. The support from the community with the pc version is like having a aftercare service.:))

But what i found to be best of all was that after the initial outlay of building my pc (£350 tower,£100 22"widescreen monitor)everything i added from then on was relatively cheap in comparison to buying a new console. Also top pc games in the uk are generally priced no higher than £29.99 so theres a massive saving in software alone. So 5 years down the line i am so glad i changed. But having said that if you still feel better sticking with a console i can understand that because like i say i was the same for ages before i changed.

sorry for the off topic and for maybe being mildly boring  :COAT:

Peace.

Thanks for that advice buzzy :)

EDIT: Btw, just installed bolloxmasta's patch on my ps3 and it looks really good. Also, had to delete my 1.02 patch, which meant going back to how PES came out the box. Game feels slower, and there's no way I can play on -2 now, and had to move it back to 0. Shots are more varied again. I really prefer this. Think the patch ruined it somehow for me. It became faster which isn't what I wanted and had to play on -2.

What's the best PS3 option file that includes the Championship?
One of my mates just got the game today and I'm not sure which one to suggest.

I'm using this one here

Think it's very good.

This is the OF I use as well. It's a massive amount of files to copy across but worth it in the end. There's loads of player faces included in this one.

Also regarding the discussion about playing PES on the PC: I've actually given serious consideration to getting a reasonably priced gaming rig. Seeing the wonderful work the community does for the PC version - such as the quality kits, faces, adboards, mods, and the beautiful stadia - has given me the itch to get back into patching. And to be honest I'm getting a bit bored of console gaming in general. I'm a fan of deeper strategy and simulation games at heart and consoles just don't deliver on that front.

I hear you Jamez. I was going to get a gaming rig at the end of last year but thought I'd wait. I might really go for it for PES 2012.

Oops, sorry man. Fixed :)
Thanks Lami, looks great! :)

Can anyone recommend a good option file with the championship for the xbox 360? :)
I'm currently using Daymos option file V2 and it's very good - the player attributes require a lot of editing, but the kits and badges are top notch.

V3 of it has been released, but I think I'll wait for the official Konami update, then delete my PES data and patch it again :).

That seems to be the best place for 360 OFs :TU:.

If Konami can add a monster edit mode to PES2012 that's truly powerful and flexible, and put back in all the stuff they've taken out over the years (like stadia) then I'll stick with the PS3 version. But I'm highly doubtful they will.

Edit: @ Rob, the Daymos file is excellent, I used their OF for PES2010 on the 360. It's 360 only though isn't it?
