Do you guys know how to prevent CPU in ML from playing players out of position? Im tired of the offensive formation the CPU makes during ML.
I was playing against real madrid in the cl and madrid took off benzema and put on lass in a striker position which he bullied my defender off and was passing the ball and making perfect runs, scored and assisted...I was so pissed off. The CPU was clearly playing a 4-1-5
this years version of pes as all the elements I actualy hated in FIFA series alongs with the CPU attacks,pressure,runs,trough ball,irealistic close down of space and the way your player get bullied off the ball by 6 players at once and by anyone even if your a player that is known to never track back or not very good at tackling and getting physical defensivly.CPU find holes and pass the ball like they are xavi...which make the CPU repetitive.
I just hope that they will be back to their old ways next years.

Who should we reporting lag switchers to, Konami or Sony/MS, and how do we go about it? PeSIMIST06. Presumably he's four, then. Dicked on him twice, once where I was unfairly held back to a draw but was clean through for the winner, the other after I'd gone 3-0 ahead and was taking the piss out of him (I knew he wouldn't let the match finish so I just spent the time turning it on).
When I got matched up with him the second time I suggested he may be a lagswitching cnut. He said 'come on baby' and I suggested that he probably does come on babies.

Nah, When testing Barca's formations i would normally injury Villa and he would be replaced by Keita upfront usually
But they tend to swap them round into their proper position after a while. Mate your shouldn't be letting Lass bully you about, really man!

This game is starting to get on my nerves. The AI is crap. Players dont care about lose ball dont care about defending just running near by the oppisiton but not getting the ball. Its more like all of my players dont want to play and i have to move all of them towards the ball to get it, pass it, shoot it. ANNOYING.

LG hd 31.5 inch 1080p although I use 720p, I have also collaborated the colours it looks great but a bit dull at night in certain stadiums. Sorry calcio forgot to reply mate, I zoomed out about 5 times and moved the screen down(with the d-pad) so broadcast looks better, makes a slight but important difference. I seem to remember you saying it made little difference for you, it has just allowed me to see a little more of the pitch as well as adjusting the angle.

No probs. I will try that but I think I did something similar before and it didn't show me more of the pitch. Just made the whole image smaller so it only filled 3/4 of my screen lol.
If you have calibrated the colours then the dullness might just be your eyes that are used to brighter images possibly. I know I set up a Sony TV for my friend and it was cinema accurate and the picture looked awesome. Two people said it looked dull and they preferred another setting (where peoples faces were more red and the image looked washed out!!!). But actualy I did make two minor tweaks to the red, green and blue balance. That was just removing a colour cast. Do you always play at the same stadium at night or random?

Who here has unlocked the come from behind achievement?? I came from 1-0 down on MLO last night to win 3-2 but it didn't unlock. I have also come from behind to win on an exhibition game (but on penalties) and it didn't unlock. So I'm guessing it has to be offline and within the 90 minutes?

Okay I'm confused but all I ever seem to get in every game I play nowadays is bizarre goings on with the AI/game. It never used to happen, I enjoyed the game loads, but recently the game seems to be just flipping out on me.
I posted videos a few pages back showing my keeper just letting the ball roll past him into the net from a 60 yard clearance (an incident that happened for the third time in the last few weeks), of the ref giving bizarre free kicks against me, and of the game seemingly 'letting' through balls past my defenders. But now the game seems to be freaking out big time. Is no-one else finding this at all?
I gave the game a rest for a few days because even though most of the strangeness doesn't break the game itself, it totally ruins the experience when you sit there and go "what?!" at the bizarre AI. The last game I played before I took a short break from the game, it did this with Pirlo;

Then, after a couple of days away from the game, my very first match seems fine, it's 0-0 until the last 10 minutes, when Ramos, the no.15 in the Spain shirt in the video, gets the ball on the edge of the box and is penalised for a foul. Can you even see any kind of bodily contact from anyone whatsoever? This ruined what was a great chance to score with me outnumbering their defenders.

Fine, I think to myself, I can deal with that strangeness yet again. Then, minutes later, I have a shot with Torres that I really should have put away, but then the AI has the option of doing whatever it wants with the ball, but instead it scores the most bizarre own goal for me;

Okay, so the game flipped out in the last 10 minutes. Then, the first 10 minutes of the next game, I concede this goal below. You can't see the cursor above any player, but rest assured, I was in complete control of this loose ball until it randomly starts switching player control all over the place, until I have control of none of the Bayern defenders and the AI runs in and scores. This is utterly pathetic, and has happened too often to not be classed as a massive bug. Firstly, I am in control of the defender as the ball rolls across the box. Then, control disappears and the AI makes that defender leave the ball. Then, the AI puts me in control of the defender at the top of the screen for barely a split second, before putting me in control of someone barely even in the picture. You can actually see the AI making both defenders back away from the ball. In fact, the defender at the top of the picture is actively running AWAY from the ball;

It's a sweet volley into the bottom corner from the edge of the box, but, thing is, I actually pressed the pass button with the intention of doing something entirely different, but the game just made him volley it into the net. So does anyone else find these strange things happening on a regular basis? Because even though I benefitted from some of them, during the middle of the match it looks and feels like the game AI is just totally freaking out and losing all sense of what it's supposed to be doing. If this carries on then it's going straight on ebay. I'm not spending my time trying to wrestle with a totally bug ridden, broken mess. Or is this just me who's finding this stuff?
By posting videos I hope I'm being at least a little more constructive than people just dissing the game in general. I have specific gripes that I'm showing people, really to see if other people are having the same negative experiences with the game. Wait so the game was fine for a long while for ages and now it's doing random strange bugs?
Maybe you disk is damaged a bit? This shit ain't happened to me man, yet at least! I dunno i've seen a few videos of the AI acting strangely and i see these stupid own goals every now and again but as for the AI running away from the ball on purpose. Again, if his was a genuine AI error i would have seen this happen a lot, but i doub't think that has every happened to me that badly, the stupid own goals, here and there but the players just leaving the ball, must be maybe a disk error?
I remember back there was a story with a guy who played FIFA 2005 and left his gamecube on for 5 days, when he pressed the player run trigger, players ran 'backwards' instead of forwards. Again, the disk must of been damaged a bit and something was playing up!

All the weird things you've posted (and more) have happened to me, but nowhere near as regularly as they seem to happen to you. That really freaky stuff is usually very rare. You've definitely installed the patches, DLC etc? The game was much worse for this stuff pre-patch.
Like CalcioCalabrese said, all this stuff is kind of possible to explain in terms of what the game thinks is happening - the relatively frequent misunderstanding of what actually is happening is probably this game's weakest point. It's a consequence of Konami overreaching themselves just slightly with the complexity of the passing and movement. Things are possible which haven't been accounted for by the code, and when they happen, weirdness ensues.
Auto-shot is something else, that's an irritating little feature that's been in the game for years. I can understand the occasional auto-clearance (especially because it sometimes digs Konami out of a hole in terms of how responsive your defenders are) but auto-shot is ridiculous. I think I've only ever "scored" two or three of these ever, but they're pretty disconcerting.
The defenders-and-goalie freakout: the ball was in a sweet spot - or sour spot - relative to the position of the other players which obviously meant something didn't compute properly. The bloke running away from the ball is trying to help you set up a counter, he's just assuming it's all under control, but, um... it isn't. This can occasionally happen anywhere on the pitch, but when it happens in your own box (which to be fair, hasn't happened to me for a very long time) it's not the greatest. Again, this stuff is a buggy consequence of increased freedom of movement, but freakouts like that are really pretty rare since the patch. Maybe you're just having all your bad luck at once, and it'll all be plain sailing soon?
The Ramos thing is the same bug as your Arshavin clip, shoddy collision detection - well in this case, it's not so much the actual collision detection itself, it's the fact that the game registers contact but wrongly identifies the situation and the movement of the players. I think it's because Ramos is just far enough from the ball that the cpu has logged him as no longer being in possession, and thinks the defender who's trying to boot it clear is now the man in possession. So, when midway through his animation he collides with Ramos' leg and is "impeded", the game gives a foul. As far as it can tell, Ramos' leg was somewhere it shouldn't be (i.e. inside the personal space of the man in possession without being in contact with the ball) and obstructed his movement: foul. Unfortunately, in actual fact Ramos has just conceded a free kick for being kicked really hard in the leg.
(The all time classic one of these is when you score a diving header, with the ball at the kind of height where it could be kicked away by a defender. You leap in bravely, make contact and head the ball past the goalie... then the goal is disallowed because just before you hit the ground (with the ball already sailing into the net), you were booted in the ribs by a defender. It's not common, but it'll probably happen to you in your next game...)

Well said - now these minor tweaks are the things that should be brought to Konami's attention rather than people just making wild accusations of the game being unplayable and the like. If they could see the issues in the video and the rationale behind why its not quite working as it should be, then maybe they can improve it. I'd love to see that ahead of extra game modes or even licences for that matter. Oh...and right stick for player selection

just for my personal info...do you have this game on the ps3 or the 360?
the game doesnt look that good on my ps3 tough, its kind of pixeled and you cannot cleanly see the players name on the top.
I play in a 1080p 50 inch screen...obviously in 720p resolution for the game.
altough I get these sort of things alot too, I think the strange fouls you get with ramos is meant to be, they try to recreate the false call that happen in football and I enjoy them, its annoying but it happen in football, but those other videos are major flaws that this game has.

Me and Goalgerd will be putting a new file out soon for the PS3 and urge everyone to try it.
I have re-editing the player stats of most of the teams and now have the game playing with following improvements -
Opposition now have lot more possesion
Game speed more realistic as passing speed has been reduced
Harder more realistic games between all teams
Increased fluidity and response
All club teams give more enjoyable game play for both using them or against
Forwards at lower level teams improved
Attackers stay ahead of slower defenders

I play ML so its pretty random, I actually think my eyes were just adjusting to the new settings, I was also sat to close to the screen which didn't help. I adjusted some of the colour balances as well which does make a difference just got to be careful not to over do it. Play most of my games as SS Lazio, had a lot of night games yesterday at the olimpico,looked good. Cheers for the help by the way, what RGB settings do you personally select in the PES settings menu?

Increased their aggression and teamwork a bit more, but I have also edited a lot of other stats to go with this. Short passing speed plays a big part, especially if your own team has high stats in this as it will meen your players are in more space.
With very good teams if most players have aggression and teamwork in the mid to high eighties they keep the ball more and work harder to get it back. Since the game play patch konami did, this seems to work better and doesnt lead to them just chasing after the ball and leaving gaps.
I will put just the edit file up if anyone wants to try it before we release. If you back up your current edit file and then swap them, you can swap them back to go back to your old one easily.

@Klashman, the game had minor problems at first, then the patch came out and everything seemed fine, but I suppose the more I'm playing it the more frequently I'm finding such strange behavior in the game. But the last few weeks definitely seem to have been really odd in terms of the game's behavior.
@CalcioCalabrese; how do you override which player the CPU selects for you? I only know of being able to change players using L1 (PS3), which seems to make things worse by selecting even more randomly placed players than the CPU does for you. It's certainly not like FIFA whereby you can simply flick the right stick in the direction of whoever you want to control.
Speaking of this, is there a proper 'manual' player select option? The control options have a 'manual' setting but it's the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. It's the total opposite of manual, the AI basically plays the whole game for you (unless you can occasionally get control of the game yourself). Why on earth does manual do this??

I looked it up last night for you but forgot to write it down. I think it was plus 2 and minus 1 on R and G respectively (well the top 2 settings. Left Blue and Brightness on 0. I will double check tonight though...again this was right for my TV and wont necessarily be the same on yours. I did it because there was a slight red cast on the image. There are 4 boxes showing you the impact of your tweaking on the different pitches so you can see how it looks. if anything, i would make changes by no more than 1 or 2 values. and if you know anything about colour...changing something up and something else down might cancel each other out lol. I dont sit right up close to my 42 inch which helps i think.

Yeah that's what I meant. Toggling through player select with L1. Not a perfect science but if the AI wont pick my player...I have to try it. I know what you mean about manual or unassisted, whichever setting it is. The one I thought would give me total freedom (which is the slogan this year) was playing half of the game for me lol. If someone can help with which setting works best for manually selecting your players please chime in now...
