Don't get me wrong, PES6 on the 360 is hardly a classic but compared to what followed it was a very decent game in retrospect. I played it almost entirely online (in an online league setup similar to PEEL) and it played a very solid game of football with no major flaws. The online mode was very consistent with no big issues, which again makes you wonder where it all went wrong in subsequent games. The AI was not great but then again I don't think it was any worse than we have in the current football games.
Honestly playing online about 4 months ago i found it unreal how every team plays 4-2-4, usually as Brazil or Inter. I used to get annoyed because all they did was counter or pass to the wing run to the line and pass it into the box for an easy tap in. I think the lacklustre defence, and as Klash said, the AI awareness/positioning was a pretty major flaw in the game especially in situations like the above.
However if you played against decent people who didn't pick the best teams and didn't always pick 4-2-4 the game played pretty well and online had no problems beside a bit of slowdown during the goalkeepers run up when taking a goal kick and sometimes when there was too many players in the box.
Northzzz is your PS3 backwards compatible then? I seem to recall being able to use option files on PES6 when I first got my PS3 before my backwards compatible one broke down out of warranty Anyways I think you can do it, try placing it in the PS2 virtual memory card space in your PS3.)
I don't have one at the moment but i'm going to buy a 60gb fat PS3. I hope it works because i hear good things about the ps2 versions of 2010 and 2011.
In the Copa Libertadores with Montivideo i conceded goal exactly like this:
There's nothing unrealistic about those goals but when the players aren't in the box to put the keeper off then it looks bad. Can i assume that they weren't crowding box but more kind of hanging on the edge of it?
I can't get my head around why the players positioning for wide/long free kicks is so bad. I really don't think Konami are stupid enough to think that it's realistic where the players stand and that everything is fine. There had to be some kind of problem that meant it was a fix at the last minute to move the players away from the box i.e something with the goalkeepers having incorrect reactions or something.
I know a lot of people have a problem with this but it's really baffling as to why the issue exists in the first place.
