PES 2011 Discussion thread

WHY THE F* even the best strikers cant score in 8 chances from 10 in one-on-one??? Really annoying. Dont get me wrong i dont want an arcade game but this is bull*.

finally got the game to run the way I wanted, after alot of talk about the game and comments made by me in favor or disfavor the ending is sweet, let me tell everyone that the game runs much better on low settings, players are more reactive no stupid sleepy heads or lack of player movement.

Uh no, runs exactly the same for me.

This is down to you, your finishing is poor if that is your true ratio. Try pressing R2 and aiming in the relevant corner, after you press shoot. Even on a bad day with the best strikers you should be finishing 5 out of 10 chances. I have a much higher ratio than that using Senegal and Chievo. So there is no excuse.

I have to wonder how you're managing to get so many one v ones to squander. I rarely get any one v ones where my player has the chance to miss because whenever i get in front of the defence somebody always catches up with my player and tackles me or pushes me off balance.

Has anybody mentioned this before? I know people sometimes have a problem with pace not having enough of an effect. It's easy to beat a man but it's near impossible not to be caught up by them again, regardless of who it is. Why can't my player hold them off?

It's not just an issue regarding the pace either. I'm still bemused how you can't give away more fouls if you're going to try and tackle from behind. The success rate of the opposition being able to tackle me from directly behind me without giving away a penalty is kind of stupid if you compare it to actual football.

this
is
important this year

load up shoot bar, then start hold down R2 and aim direction
u can start hold R2 as the first step if u aim direction after u pressd shoot too

but thats just R2, theres more into the shooting
like if u try the most harderst attempt in a certain situation, its the most hardest(wow, i know :))
if u u know what is the best to do in a moment, thats gold this year

Full power and R2 is only for lifting the ball. You need to do this from the edge of the box if the angle is narrow. Otherwise just a tap of the shoot button followed by R2 is all you need.

R2 for me is SPRINT, is that the right button? Cause it ain't working for me at all.

Also it would have been helpful if Konami mentioned these things in the help menu or the game's manual. Not sure why Konami don't brag about these things.

R1 is the default button for sprint. What button do you press to trap a pass? Try that button it should work for you.

15 minute games are the only way to play. It's gives so much more overall balance than a 10 minute match, which in my opinion, is a waste of time. With regards saying I dont have any issues with PES 2011. I lied. After playing last night, I realised just how much I hate the ref's and their subsequent collision detection analysis. Very poor.

I have long been of the opinion that konami do this on purpose as i think the refereeing is randomized ie good/bad/indiffrent. some games you cant seem to get a free kick others i have found the referee can be more strict, so i think its quite realistic. although i havent found them as strict as they were in the demo.

Also played my nephew earlier, Barca v stoke. This was more of a challenge for me than the last game, but i think my theory still holds water. TBH my finishing could of been better, but it did feel strange stoke putting barca under pressure at the nou camp. :CONFUSE: Footballers 2 gamers 0

Stop traumatizing your nephew. Who's going to be left to beat up when PES 2012 comes out?

I had no idea that changing the length of matches could affect the way the game plays...but now that I think of it that makes perfect sense

Next time I play the game I'll see how it fares on 15 min halves. 20 minutes is way too long for me though! 40 minute matches surely means you'd take forever to do a ML season!

Man, they mean to play 15 minutes the hole match, not a half like you think. Half time in that case is 7.5 minutes not 15.

I've done a search on the forum but got no real information on my question:

What is the difference between "Double Tap R2" after a pass an pressing L1 + Pass?
As far as i know in both situations the passing player pushes forward and I can give the ball back to him. Is there any difference in the use of the two methods?

P.S. Sorry for my english, I hope you understand what I want to know?

Single tap of R2 is an after thought which can be initiated after a pass is made and before it reaches it's destination. L1 and pass is premeditated, a request for a give and go prior to the first pass.

Where does it say double tap? I thought it was a single press of the button after the pass but before it reached the destination.

On a side note, I just noticed how much I prefer the AI's defensive positioning on PES to FIFA. On FIFA you are so often susceptible to counter attacks with cutback goals because your defenders are staring at the sun. Maybe I've just been lucky but I haven't been exposed to it on PES very often, thankfully.

Also have discovered the wonderful ability to skin a defender by chesting down a chipped pass in the direction of the goal...then getting a shot off. Love it!

Another gripe I have with this game is the difficult of bringing down loft balls quickly. You can time a perfect chip over the defence and your striker will take years to get it under control, by which time the centre backs have recovered and are right on top of you.

It depends which striker it is Danny, technique is massive in this regard. Some strikers take the ball dead out of the air in Bergkamp fashion, some it takes an eternity.

On a different note, I have a couple of small niggles, not issues, more niggles. The first is when a keeper comes way off his line to intercept a high-ball at the edge of his box. If he steps out of the box when he jumps to catch the ball, he defies physics and is magically pushed back into the box. Bullshit this, and cheap. I dont see any issue in letting the keeper handle the ball outside the box and concede the relevant freekick. This would be much more realistic.

I always dont like it when players are pulled way out of position, then when the ball goes out play, they magically return to their formation position. This is silly to. As an example, CPU keeper comes up for a corner in the last minute, the corner is cleared for a throw-in, then when action resumes, the keeper is magically back on his goaline. This happens with other players in other positions, and there is no excuse for it.

Indeed, or have him head it away, as you see some do. This sort of physics happens on the goal line too, sometimes. It's like the keepers have momentum issues that Konami need to address.

Speaking of heading keepers. I was playing out a 0-0 against Bologna, in the league and my keeper came up for a last minute corner. It turns out he headed it and drew a fine save from the other keeper. It would have been a great goal.

Perhaps this is what the 'seamless experience' hint is aiming at on the WElovePES blog. No cutscenes or black screens while the game resets all the players back to their normal positions.

By the way that blog has been updated again today. Pretty much confirmed that PES2012 will be at E3 and Adam is going out there.

Your right there is no excuse considering they fixed this on PES 2010 (or maybe 09, i'm sure..) where if the keepers momentum took him outside the box, he would drop the ball and you'd take control of the keeper with the ball at his feet.

Same rule applied for the invisible wall on the goal line.

I actually scored a goal yesterday where the keeper went to grab a ball that was crawling towards the line - he did have both hands on it but, after a short delay as his animation completed, the goal was given and the keeper had let go of the ball. Bizarre because you could see the invisible wall hold him back but at the same time the ball he was holding was over the line.

I agree that these things need sorting, even if Konami just get the keepers to turn themselves (when sprawled on the ground) to keep the ball just outside the line. There is also something of an invisible wall when trying to challenge for the ball vs the keeper - a number of times a ball I should be able to stick a boot in for ended up just beingleft to the keeper as my player refused to budge an inch, supercancel or not.

I do think some of that player resetting is necessary, but I agree that complete resets are silly. FIFA does this quite well, as players only reset a distance relative to how much time would have passed during that reset. So a keeper might still be running back. I don't think this is what PES 2012's seamless experience will be about as I do think the blackscreens serve a necessary purpose - I feel it will be more about making more team changes without having to pause. But if Konami do make such changes it'll be interesting to see how they counteract the potential rush tactics, or how they stop the additional waiting the black screen cuts out from being boring.

The rules of Konami 1 step forwards 2....

This is all down to non-existents physics and animations,
Konami need to stop being lazy, the invisible wall nonsense is
stupid and the need to fix this for 2012.

Nah Blackscreens are not necessary, it has long been a wish of mine for PES to play in realtime and to cut out all the blackscreen & cutscenes, but somehow I doubt that they'd have the balls to do it.

I feel it will be more about making more team changes without having to pause.

I remember FIFA world cup 2006 on the 360 played on this idea, although the tactics on that game made very little difference, actually assigning commands to the d-pad would be useful.

I liked the idea of pressing down on the d-pad during open play would Queue a substitution menu the next time the ball went out of play with out the need to pause

lately more and more times when playing online my players have started doing things like passing the ball when in a good shooting postion when i have not pressed any button.or shooting when i want them to pass. doing sliding tackles when theres no one around them or sliding tackles wo give away a penalty when again i have not pressed any button and 3x in the last two days gomes as coming running off his line way out of the penalty box when there are plenty of defenders around and again i have not pressed any button this is really starting to irritate. but the worst bit of the game for me is that players closest to the ball sometimes run away from it as if it is a bomb and they dont seem to have any sense of where the ball is GGRRRRRRR.
Dont get me wrong i play the game all the time when i can but must admit i have launched the controller a few times due to the above things.
PS when playing as spurs which i do most of the time online and playing against barca r madrid ac milan etc the referee is biased towards these clubs regards fouls etc.
