PES 2011 Discussion thread

So after a few weeks of offline ML I am now totally bored with this game. Its not because of the multitude of bugs or the scripting but because its to damn easy. The default ML squad and the players you get from the youth team are far to competent, I am currently on a 18 game win streak with a team of players rated at around 60!!!

I remember playing a PES5 ML and after something like 10 seasons I decided to build a youth team to use in the cup competitions so my main 11 could be fresh for the league. I put together 11 players aged around 17 and they would probably have had a PES2011 rating similar to my current team of around 60. As it turned out this was a very bad idea as they were f'kin useless. They could not control the ball, they could not pass, they could not shoot...... And to compound the problem their stamina depleted very quickly which made them even worse. In comparision my PES2011 squad are like Barcelona and not only does it take away the challenge but it also ruins ML because I dont feel the need to change any players. In PE5 I would seek out certain players to do specific things, in PES2011 I do not feel this is at all necessary. Shooting is the only skill in the game which I feel you need the right player for but saying that I have scored with some excellent finishes by players that have shooting stats in the 60s & 70s. I chipped the keeper from about 25 yards with Oscar, and to make it worse he did it automatically I never even held down the modifier, took away all the satisfaction. The biggest problem is control IMO, players with a 60ish stat for technique and dribbling in PES2011 have the skills of a player with 90+ stats in PES5. I remember being very frustrated with the default PES5 ML players lack of control, the ball would always bounce away from them giving the opposition time to close in and block a passing lane or dispossess you. Now the default players using the R2 have the control of Messi, I have done some ridiculous twists and turns to get out of danger with Dodo.... DODO!!!!!!!!!!

I just watched the Arse play Man City and my crappy PES players have all the skill of those players, infact they have better control and passing ability than some of them and thay are way more consistant.

Im not sure if anyone will agree as I remember seeing posts saying that players are not good enough, which I find amazing. I cant even play with teams like Arsenal because the players are soo good the game just feels crap. I would like the players rated in the 80s & 90s to play like players with 60 & 70 ratings, with the exception of some things like shooting.

It's the way the AI play, they sit back too much and they aren't hard to break down

too many teams have long ball or quick counter set as their tactics, very easy to play against these teams.

With those tactics i've been working on,it's a different game.

The default players are ok, i find the majority of them pretty crap ball control apart from Miranda and Castolo. the one very overrated player who shouldn't be there is that Palermi dude. 80 overall at 16

Apparently these other good players they give you which you feel have too much technique.

I try and dip back into PES2011 a couple of times a week for a few games and for me the game is still quite appealing. It's just a case of trying to take a few days off from the game and not let the problems get to you. PES2011 is what it is. It's still a very good game of football.

Hopefully PES2012 will resolve the issues and we finally have a PES that can quite happily live in the disc tray of my console for 12 months.

Hmmm, I feel this is why i came up with the whole 'FIFA mentality' with the whole wanting a complete package to satisfy you with everything on the surface being perfect.

I believe even the great PES games had as many if not more flaws than what PES 2011 has, it's just we we MUCH more inclined to accept them.

For example, the 'secret lob' from PES 5, 6 etc.. that's was a gameplay flaw but the attitude to PES back then. The overpowered fake shot etc.. everyone adored the game so much we accepted it!

Nah, he's right, you can't play PES 2011 on a regular basis, if you have PES 5 still in your mind.

That said, I also can't play FM as regularly as I used to back on FM 2006/07 days. It's either my problem or the games problem. Probably a bit of both.

I play it for 4-5 days then i won't touch it for 2 weeks or a month!

ATM until i go back to uni, I'll enjoy my time with PES now, i think once i go back to uni i won't touch it for ages but unless i need to play PEEL matches!, not because i don't like the game i'm not a avid gamer who has to play every day.

After all these months, I am still addicted to this baby. I spent hrs on end playing it sometimes. The other day I was up until 4am playing it.

The game is so realistic I am in futbol heaven with it. So many unbeleivable moments of brilliance. The numerous diff types of realistic goals, passes, PK's, dribbles, sprints, headers, crosses, near misses, saves, etc, are jaw dropping.

This game is by far the BEST game in my futbol game collection, better than my beloved WE8 International. The freedom in it is priceless.

I can't even begin to imagine how much more realistic the next installment will be.

The future is indeed looking bright for Seabass and company.

"Engineered for freedom" is really what I experience with this game.

I agree. PES is famed for being driven by individual attributes but i have no idea which ones really matter now. I still really hate the way every players ground passing attribute seems to be the same.

IMO the ML structure they ha ve now just isn't anywhere near as enjoyable and that is why it seems people are having a hard time getting back into the game even if they enjoy the gameplay.

A thought about the seamless experience - could it be quick subs performed in game, or tactical slider tweaks? It would mean juggling stuff about, possibly binning the dpad movement in favour of making the game stick only, but it's time that happened anyway.

Agree with this! I miss the fantasy league structure

They should make it optional in 2012 to bring this back!

I thought I was the only person to feel this way about the ML. Give me the old Division 1,2 & 3 setup any day rather than the current format. It always was a fantasy league mode and until PES acquires more leagues (specifically lower divisions) then perhaps it should stay that way.

If by great you mean better looking, and by other games you mean PES, then yeah the 360 version of PES looks better than the PS3 version. Other than that I don't really have any opinion on this. I thought all evo-web members just played PES all day

I've been splitting my time between 11 and Winning Eleven 9 International the past couple of weeks and while the graphics on the older game can be considered awful I do find the game is more fun to play than the newest version. All in all I think it is the better game.

Konami needs to do something about the MLO competition cheating, higher ranked opponents just disconnect before the match and get the win

I reached the final of the ML open as we were about to start I received a message along the lines of this match will be abandoned/connection with opponent is lost after this he got the win I couldn't even play the final they really need to look into this

Anyone else feel the game is too easy at times? I am currently playing on Professional, using a custom created team and sometimes I WISH to concede a goal, just to make the matches more entertaining. All teams have the same style of play and pretty much struggle to score. I feel that after I ve scored a goal, it's a pretty much a safe win 'till the end of the match .

PS - I've posted a question a page back, regarding the changing of the net colors in a game. How does that actually work??? 2 ML seasons so far and I'm yet to see another net color than white! I really need to know this as I am pretty much a net freak ...

if so how do you do them as the L1 and shoot (as in the manual) seems to do a very low trajectory lob, nowhere near 'lofted' enough to get it over the keeper.

Any tips would be appreciated, and whilst on topic, i had a bad start with the game, getting agitated at all the annoyances etc but have switched to 15 min games, and am really enjoying my master league now and whilst there are some issues with teh game, i barely notice them now as im having too much fun with it.

I score these all the time from outside the box. You need to have a player with decent shooting technique, and also make sure your body angle is relevant. Taking the ball slightly wider to give you the angle to come back on the chip works very well. If I'm brutally honest, maybe too well. Try maxing out the power bar with L1 and shoot from just outside the box. You wont have any issues, apart from the fact, one mastered, they are maybe a little too easy.

best technique to use is start pushing L1 and shoot at the same time and loading them fully up for out of the box chips, this will guarantee the best angle/power ratio most of the time

it helps to push the opposite direction your facing during the shoot sometimes, coz if u dont push any direction it goes to the side often and if u push a direction left right it is too soft and too flat

What Jimmy said, it's good advice .

Personally, I have been using the R2 controlled shot way too much recently, it just looks so damn good when you find the corners with it .

Chipping is now, very positional sensitive so you need to make sure your player is RIGHT under the ball, and time it so he get's more lofted purchase on it. It's much more of a skill now

I had my first match since my rant the other day, and finished the game fuming again. A 1-1 draw with Lazio was just a boring chore. Players take an age to move, and I still can't get the shooting down right even though I've had this game for ages now

Pato ran in between two defenders, I tapped shoot as lightly as I could so it barely even appeared on the power meter, I also held R2 immediately after pressing the button, and instead of rolling the ball low into the corner he smashed the ball like a rocket into the top corner. It looked good, but pissed me off because that's not what I told him to do. In my opinion his body position was just right, and how can he hit the ball so hard (should have broken the net) when I tapped shoot so lightly that the power bar barely even appeared at all?

So then I play the rest of the match against a bank of four deep defenders and two deep defensive midfielders (par for the course in this game) and let in a late equaliser via a random 40 yard through ball along the floor, cutting my defense in two. The shot is saved, my defender runs over unchallenged to clear the ball, then just as I'm about to get to the ball the game takes away control of the defender to someone else nowhere near the ball. As a result, my defender, now not controlled by anyone, just stands still staring at the ball, and a striker runs in and taps it into the net. It's beyond a joke how many bugs I'm witnessing in this game right now.

It doesn't help that my game has totally gone down the toilet, mainly since the last patch. I'm considering deleting it now and seeing if that helps. Player switching issues are still there, response times are terrible, keepers perform the most bizarre things, and the AI seems to remorselessly hunt you down when you have the ball which severely restricts you from trying anything out of the ordinary, or 'fun'.

Klashman, is your tactics link you kindly provided to edit all the teams in the game? It's a great idea, and something people have done with FIFA too, but as with that game, I personally don't have the patience to sit down and correct the game according to how the developers who sold us this game should have done in the first place. But if you and others have the patience to do so, and have reaped rewards as a result, fair play to you!

U mean playing 15, 20 minutes, makes a HUGE difference.

The AI is better and they play at a much slower team, they don't rush like win 10 minute matches, it shows they consider how much time is remaining when they attack, the game is altogether,i wouldn't say slower but more 'considered'. It also obviously affects you mentally in naturally since you will have more time to build attacks, especially on 20 minutes, far less frustrating,

With 10 minute matches, the games over before you get a chance to get into it properly man. lol

In fact in the tactics thread, one player found the game far more difficult and found it was a lot more challenging when playing on 15, 20 minutes compared to 10.

It was most likely the way he ran onto the ball. Maybe he velocity he connected with the ball was just more than you anticipated.

One thing notice is how the through ball button is in general a lot more accurate in 10 minute matches compare to 15 and especially 20 minute games :CONFUSE , Maybe it's just me bt you see a lot of these through ball goals online (quick ranked is 10 minutes) The time length must change the effectiveness and how precise some buttons are.

As for the defender standing still, i just hope the player swithcing is working, (tap L1) hold shoot down (clearence) if it selects hima nd he normally clears it. If you hold Circle down your asking for trouble

the default ones aren't that bad, they are ok, just Barca are setup poorly! Their tactics are built with Zlatan in mind, since he left obviously they are terrible and they are like a lamb to the slaughter. This is what inspired me another others to edit them vigorously and the way so many small teams just have the same a tactics which is lazy on Konami's part, then again we have to expect this since it's clear they are out of touch on current affairs (culture etc..)

Also PES is a Hugely tactical game, far more so than FIFA! The tactics change the game massively, it's like playing a whole different game to the original.

BTW I'd advise anyone again, don't play 10 minutes, it's funny how people who seem to be greeting so angry all funnily enough play ten minute games!

with PES 5 this was fine since there where so many fouls, it seemed a lot longer. Same with FIFA which when i play,i get could 24/7 which makes the game longer. PES 2011, unless your playing someone like Inter who are dirty, this isn't the case it seems!

15 minute games are the only way to play. It's gives so much more overall balance than a 10 minute match, which in my opinion, is a waste of time. With regards saying I dont have any issues with PES 2011. I lied. After playing last night, I realised just how much I hate the ref's and their subsequent collision detection analysis. Very poor.

finally got the game to run the way I wanted, after alot of talk about the game and comments made by me in favor or disfavor the ending is sweet, let me tell everyone that the game runs much better on low settings, players are more reactive no stupid sleepy heads or lack of player movement.
