PES 2011 Discussion thread

Anyone uses the knuckleball shot much? I've seen a youtube video on it and tried it but only with some limited success. Any pointers out there? When it says power up a normal shot then press shoot again as you're hitting the ball...does it mean right at on contact time (do I have to allow for any input lag?) or does it mean just before he's approaching the ball. Again - I sometimes find it worse to have too much time to think. More often than not hitting a shot without thinking about it and letting the AI select how the ball will fly is a better option.

Another quick question - I have unlocked all the classic teams and bought all the extra players. I want to bring my PES disc over to a mates place and use these players on his Xbox - is it possible to save certain files to my USB stick and load it up on his console or copy/overwrite certain files on his hard drive. At 10 points per offline match it will take us forever to unlock all the points at his place lol

Not sure mate.

I'm using someone else's edit data btw. Last night I unlocked many players and while doing so, the names were all right. I can only assume that the guy sharing his edit file has already unlocked and renamed them, but I didn't get to see them until I unlocked them as well.

Hit the shot button again on contact with the ball

With the 'knuckleball', I assume you leave the left stick well alone? Seems a bit weird hitting the ball from 30 odd yards and not pressing up. Can any player do it, or do they need certain power/FK stats?

The Matthews feint/Running Matthews feint - Wow.

Only just bothered to learn how to pull them off today, so simple to pull off yet so effective! This is in the first two MLO games using it though - usually new things in PES work well for me until I "get used to" them and take them for granted, i.e. new players, moves, techniques etc. Anyone else have this same issue?

any player can do it!

The swerve which is unpredictable and the power is stat relative :)

Just tried that in training mode and didn't notice any difference in the power.

It's either me missing something or it being a placebo effect for you guys :P.

Thanks for the knuckleball tips...ill keep trying it I guess. Nice work with the Matthews Feint Rob. Looks great. Does it require holding the button for the feint to work or can you do it just with the sticks? Or have you assigned it to the link feints?

To illustrate my earlier point about the Matthews feint;

YouTube - PES 2011 MLO - Wing play

I was jinking past defenders for fun tonight, hopefully it will continue :D.

Nice. I'm more of a left stick twiddler myself, though I do perhaps use the backheel flick-on a bit too much (it is a great way to dodge a blatant slide challenge though as you can occasionally get the ball round tackles that would have plastered you if it wasn't for that knock back). I think someone has already said they think the best animation in the game is the little fake you can do where you're stationary, press to your stronger foot side and then the opposite side quickly. I agree I think. That little drag left before slamming on the brakes and pushing off to go right (all my technical stars are left footed), all very natural and intuitive to do with the pad, so accurately performed and bloody impressive when it flummoxes someone to buy you space in the middle.

I am a massive fan of keeping as much stuff on the left stick as possible - the little shoulder drops and stutters you can do are brilliant IMO.

Yeah agreed - 95% of the dribbling I do is down to just holding close dribble and using the left stick...and anticipating where the defender will try to close me down or slide me and slowing down, then a direction change. Easy way to stop the pressure chasers.

I think the only form of shielding in this game happens when your player's back is facing the opposition defender. You can also hold off players by not pressing any buttons. Just release the pad.

Thanks.

The Reverse Step-Over I have mapped to L1 and Right Stick Left and Right. It's a brilliant way of changing direction with a drop of the shoulder, highly effective and it can be used in so many situations. Anybody that has played me will know the move I'm talking about.

Have I mentioned Online is the most FRUSTRATING thing ever? I get such massive responsiveness issues online it's ridiculous, press pass and it passes 2 seconds later, and so on, slide tackling is damn difficult in online mode as well, I give away freekicks all the time which I wouldnt do in offline. Sick to death of Online. Am I the only one that gets really crap response delays? :/ I see some videos of great goals from MLO and just general Online and for me I can barely string a pass together :(

btw, when I go in a Match Lobby on PS3 my name has a green ringed ball next to it, yet a friend of mine had a blue ring, blue is obviously better than green, but I don't get how he's getting a better rating than I am? I have 50mbit Cable, with a bloody excellent upload speed now, and my mate is on shite Sky Broadband up to 8mbit, how on earth does he have a blue ring around the ball next to his name?

Another thing is, on occasion I'll get an icon appear with 1 bars and it shows the first one as red, and then it disappears.

Please someone tell me, does everyone else get these delay problems Online? It *really* pisses me off! I played my friend online who had the game for about 1.5 weeks and he's so far beaten me in 2 games, with me scoring 0 goals and him scoring 4, what the fuck? I've had this game ages and I CAN actually play it properly.

I'm wondering what the problem could be, whatever it is it's driving me bonkers and I dont ever want to play Online again.

Please someone give me some guidance, I'm falling out of love with this game and I'm regretting buying it for PS3 :(

Does anyone think my Monitor I'm using could be to blame?

Online is bad bro. It should be at the top of the list for changes in PES 2012. I can't spin it any other way when almost every quick match in MLO has button lag.

Thankfully I have no real issues online Si. The odd slight button-lag now and again against Jonny Foreigners, which can be frustrating, as even the slight bit of button lag can effect my directional passing game. For the most part though, it's always pretty smooth.

Bastard :( lol. I'm really at loss as to what is causing it, seriously man, I'm going bloody nuts when I play Online, rage like I've never raged before, even more so than when playing Call Of Duty Black Ops and some hacker is on! :/

Such a shame that my PES Online experience is such a bad one, dont know what to do :(

1) Your using a TV, not a Monitor, right?
2) Cable or ADSL? and what ISP?
3) Are you using a Router, if so, is your Router Firewall disabled or enabled?
4) Is your Windows Firewall on?
5) Have you customised your PS3 settings for Display, etc?
6) Is your TV 1080p or 1080i?
7) What PS3 are you running, a fat one or a slim one?

Hope you can answer these mate, I'm trying to single out what the cause could be.

I've got a 12mbps up/ 768kbps down, so it can't be your connection if mine is significantly worse. Lami has a similar connection to yours as well. I'm on cable, router firewall is down, and my windows firewall is down. I run the game on 1080p on the slim PS3.

I'm so jealous of Jim and the others who don't have lag, it's the one thing that keeps me away from MLO sometimes. It's still incredibly addictive, hence the reason I keep going back.:CONFUSE:

1) Your using a TV, not a Monitor, right? Samsung 50" T.V.
2) Cable or ADSL? and what ISP? Cable, Virgin. 50Meg.
3) Are you using a Router, if so, is your Router Firewall disabled or enabled? I'm wired, but Wireless is fine as well, even with my son playing COD upstairs. :CONFUSE:
4) Is your Windows Firewall on? Yes.
5) Have you customised your PS3 settings for Display, etc? Full HDMI.
6) Is your TV 1080p or 1080i? 1080p
7) What PS3 are you running, a fat one or a slim one?slim

Hope this helps. On PES 2011, for me it's the best connection in my PES online history. I can play Zeemeister in S.A, and now Lami in UAE without any real issues. That was never possible before.

Simcut, have you tried port forwarding? I'm not sure how it works myself, I'm a complete numpty when it comes to technical stuff, especially internet connections. A fried of mine did it all for me, and online has worked pretty well ever since. I rarely get noticeable lag, although recently I've been thrown off the servers mid match a number of times. But I was getting regular lag games before my friend did port forwarding for me to the ps3.

I'm not sure being wireless or not makes any difference to be fair. I've been using an enthernet cable from my new router BT sent me, and notice absolutely no difference when I play wired or wireless. Still pretty much the majority lag free games, and still get thrown off the MLO server wired or not, but not out of the playstation network, so I have no idea what's going on there.
