PES 2011 Discussion thread

Hi lads, seasons greetings to ya all, thought i would post this as IMO this is one of those little gold nuggets you get with pes from time to time after putting in the hours.

This is by no means the best goal ever, but the point is the timing of the move and the deftest of touches to sell the keeper a treat. Sorry for the back and forth in the vid its just that firstly i wanted to show that adebola's head follows the ball perfectly and still takes the split second time to check the keepers position, and secondly to show the feint (i noticed on pc when replays are slowed too much frames can disappear). When i first scored the goal i thought the ball maybe bobbled but on closer inspection no. Little random things like this keep me coming back for more.

Lami, I just installed the DLC, new boots, erm, great I guess :LOL:

It hasn't affected my option file on the surface of it, still all the kits, badges etc. That's all I am bothered about really, as I haven't done any editing myself.

Same here. Too many hours lost in the edit mode to screw it all up with an update.
 
Ok just downloaded it, installed, then asked if I want to overwrite my save data, chose NO. Checked edit section and new boots and Ireland kit available, and everything still in place :)
 
What I love the most about PES 2011 is the fact, the best player now wins for the most part. Hands down. I honestly cannot ever remember this being the case, since probably PES 5. I have a weekly Lads Night, the same set of lads since school for the most part. We have been doing this for 19 years, and I have always hosted these nights. All my mates know their way around PES, it's all we have played since ISS64. But this is the first year, where I win the league, week-in, week-out, and with a much lesser team. My mates play with Liverpool, Barcelona, Chelsea, Inter, and sometimes Madrid. I play with Chievo. Alternatively, in Internationals, it's my Senegal, against their England, Argentina, Spain, Holland and Italy.

In PES 2009 and PES 2010, I barely won many league titles, I held my own, and was there or there abouts, but I was anything but dominant. In PES 2011 it's a total different story. For me this is how it should be, I'm the addict of the bunch, and the one that plays the game to death. I put alot of this down to the freedom available now, and also the fact the AI doesnt hold your hand in the same way it once did, which opens up alot more room for manual error.

Long may this philosophy continue.......

Edit- I'm keen to see that goal Buzz, but I cant access it from work. Will check it later tonight. :)

Thanks for that, I was just about to ask the same. So what exactly does this DLC overwrite? Does it just assign the new boots to players because I can't imagine what else it would do?

Edit - wow, I'm confused now. I've just been reading the thread at WENB and overwriting the edit data has defaulted some people's option files but left others untouched. Apparently you need to overwite the your Edit Data file for the boots to be assigned to players. Not sure what to do?

Just do what I did mate and don't overwrite. Who cares about them being assigned automatically, really. You can assign them yourself since they're in already :)

It's either them being auto-assigned and damaging your OF or manually assigning them, or not at all even, and still have the new DLC available plus keep your OF safe.

Cheers, that's what I'll do. I'm not that bothered about boots really but if anyone knows what players wear these new boots feel free to post a list.

Edit - Done that but when I restart the game it asks me if I want to overwrite the Edit Data again. I have a feeling if I say no it will ask me again every time I boot the game.

EDIT: Nope nothing here mate. I guess it is maybe because after not overwriting, I went into edit mode to check on things then before exiting I saved. Probably that's why. Try it.

I thought we downloaded a patch to stop these silly DLC updates ruining our OF's ? I mean seriously, who really gives a rats ass about auto-assigning players their boots ? Apart from their sponsors.

Hi,

This is just another reason why i don't bother with debating PES anymore :)

I truly believe there a so many players out here who think they play 'realistic' but in fact aren't. Instead they just enjoy a certain style which they are good at!

I'm making some fake teams that include all the real players not already in master league. Anyone interested in using an option file with this option? (i know it's been done before but i like editing :)

One thing which really helps is to do all the time is, not be so direct with the left stick or D-Pad like back in the PS2 days or other pes games.

It's effective to let go of the left stick and just guide your player where your want them to go rather than expect them to follow your every input telepathically.

I call it adapting to the responsiveness!

Yeah I think I've just done the same thing. My option file seems to be intact any way.
 
Guys I need help on something....

I cant seem to be able to score goals inside the box when im one vs one for a few milisecond vs the keeper...its seem that Im trying to figure out the power gauge or the player position but the keeper always save it when im aiming for a simple far post finish inside the box. I just cant seem to finish inside the box when I get a clean chance on goal wich happen very rarely since the CPU coverage is insane, there is absolutely no way to have a breakaway in this game since you will ALWAYS get atleast a men on you witthen 2 seconds of you being free... so how do you guys manage to score inside the box when you have a opportunity for a clean trough goal chance?
 
Well.. I just wait for the perfect chance, time it right, then just touch the shoot button in any angle. Try pressing R2 right after shooting, it should make your player side foot it.

When you are in space with a player with good technique; Power up the shot a bit, and as soon as you release the shot button, tap R2. This is a side-footed controlled shot which finds the corners more accurately, it's especially effective with players who have the "1-on-1 finish" card.
Recently I have been using the controlled shot in a different way, by very lightly/quickly tapping the shot button and then immediately tapping R2 you will keep the shot very low, useful for sliding the ball under the keeper - it's difficult for the keeper to get down to and you can even hit it through his legs!

A short press of shoot on its own will produce a powerful hit, this is usually more suited to the less gifted players who would struggle with the precision needed for the above technique - it's also good for later on in the match when fatigue kicks in, and for use with players who have very high shot power, you can sometimes blast the ball almost through the keeper!

There is also the R1 dink shot, which is just a little chip that is effective against an onrushing keeper when they have committed to go to ground.
The L1 lob is different this year, and can be used to score "Del Piero-esque" lobs into the far corner, even when the keeper isn't far off his line, it's very flashy though and only really worth attempting with Del Piero himself :P.

It is all about the approach angle, player momentum, ball position etc. - If you can, take an extra touch or two to get the player's posture right and get the ball out of your feet.

My finishing has been very good recently, I'm just really struggling to create anything and I'm really hating the AI/tactics at the moment, can't find any combination that works - I'm getting raped by ridiculous quick passing and one-twos and double-pressured all game...

Not yet - someone I know (Tim7) who did start one with Reading said that you start off with a silly amount of money and some of the transfers are stupid.

Plus I keep going into edit mode to fix up some player appearances, attributes, cards, team lineups etc.
I should probably just stop being such a perfectionist about the editing side of things and just play the bloody game :LOL:.

I see Rob has already given you some excellent advice, but there is certainly plenty of clean breakaways in this game, if you use the right tactics, and/or use the r2 follow run button. One on ones are not really that hard, but you can get into a habit of missing them if you don't keep a good eye on what you are doing. I tend to open the players body up at the last minute if approaching the goal straight on, and the player will usually place a cool finish into the bottom corner.

Quite often with a fast player and a through ball timed perfect against a high defensive line, there is enough time to dummy the keeper, or even take it round him and a nice cool finish into an empty net. This seems to happen a lot for me in the MLO, the chance coming when the other guy is all out attack and you get loads of clean through chances if you knock it around and open up the space.

I would also suggest wide cam if people don't already do so, gives you a full scale, and you can always see the keeper coming off his line and have time to react on wide cam, without having to distract yourself by looking at the radar.

Yeah you can get lost in the whole editing side and forget that the game is there to 'play'. There is a fix for that ML, big money issue though Rob, it's been written on these boards somewhere. Probably the ML thread.

I've read about that fix but it seemed a bit too complicated, I think.. So I just went ahead and started ML, and had 32 mil in the bank. Upgraded all my staff and youth academy, and 4 weeks in I think, when the transfer window closed and financial stuff settled, got a message saying club is in debt -6 mil :LOL:

So they had to change the levels of youth academy from level 5 to 4 and fan club from 3 to 1, which put us on a +658,000. Great way to start the season huh. I've the slightest idea where I'm supposed to get all the money to cover all costs, which is around 31 mil :LOL:

Poor QPR...

Phew!! I haven't been back here in decades it seems..

Anyway, I understand what you mean. I love doing my own editing so much that I spend hours without realizing and never play the bloody game. LOL!

We're perfectionists, that's why.

On a diff subject, I noticed that a new Data Pack is available in the game's menu. Will this update delete or write over my editing, such as kits and all?

NOTE: I haven't installed any patches on my game. Most editing has been done by me. Wondering if this will be affected by the update.
 
Downloaded the patch this morning first thing and have played a few games on Pro and TP. The switching now works perfectly. Wasn't all that terrible once I got used to the earlier version but this is now perfect. :COOL:

After you've done that, go into edit mode to check on things then before exiting click on save. That should do :)
 
Quite a shame that no more stadium parts were added. Seems that the Stadium Editor was indeed just a beta this year, but I'm happy even at that.

It really is a shame as it's a great little addition to the edit mode that is sadly lacking in options. To be honest I've stopped using created stadia as I find the fact that the stands are so far away from the pitch ruins the realism, particularly for the Premier League grounds in my option file.

Hopefully next year the stands can be moved closer to the pitch.
