PES 2011 Discussion thread

To be honest Tom, it's probably down to their lack of loyalty, not all new signings are happy when you buy them. I'm assuming the 'Heart' system is still there from PES 2010 ? If so, those players will probably have empty hearts if you look.
 
AI cheating/rubberbanding would be a better way to phrase it rather than scripting so I'll use that term from now on. I think teamvision accounts for something, certainly impressed with the way the AI dynamically changes formation before and after the match. My complaints are subtle ones that could be explained by glitching etc. Goals are not heavily scripted rather moments in the match such as konami trying to mimic luck and the randomness of football, this randomness becomes predictable unrealistic.

Rob92 If you want to be a smart ass and base someones intelligence on a typo I feel for you, Jimmy apologies if my post was a bit OTT hard to explain over the internet, I have had a break from the game can't wait to get back into it. The cheating feels rather like fifa 09,10,11 and the pressure is also starting to get to those standards. You are not able to pressure that much for 90 minutes, a lazy way to make the AI more difficult to beat.

I would also like to ask how much time you have spent in offline master league?

Is it just good old placebo effect or something changed again in gameplay after applying official 1.03 patch (PC)?

I haven't been playing that much with new 1.03 exe, but BAL suddenly got enjoyable again, as it was before 1.02 patch.

Before 1.02 I was quite happy with the intelligence displayed by my CPU teammates (Napoli/Croatia NT, professional). They were actually able to do something on their own, intelligent dribble here and there, smart passing from time to time, it wasn't all up to me. Then after 1.02 it felt like they all suddenly turned into bunch of hapless morons, because of increased CPU-pressure introduced by 1.02 update, I suppose. Now with 1.03 it feels again much more like pre-1.02.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

Disable upnp and enable dmz on your router. Also if you're using static ip then make sure you also use the quickest dns's for you. Use dnsbench for that, for some it may make a difference but for others just slightly and some won't. If it asks you to "build custom nameserver list" then do it, then run the test after its done.

I do a test every time I go online. It won't guarantee you a flawless connection, or maybe it will, who knows. It doesn't hurt to try :)

The inconsistency of the latency is as ever killing the game for me. If it was smooth like FIFA I'd play it everyday, now it is just occasionally. I know no game is completely flawless online and will have times when there is lag, but at least with dedicated servers you can expect 8/9/10 matches to be smooth. With PES its a lottery. Sometimes I can have a run of smooth games, other times I'll be stuttering/playing in slow motion/a second behind. I have a decent enough BT ADSL 2.5 MB line, but still have problems with PES, and pretty much no other game. I have the DMZ enabled on the xbox, but this peer-to-peer thing is ridiculous. How come the bar is always on the lowest one, red?

Due to the inconsistency I've also been put off playing in leagues (I did want to join PEEl), because you can't trust the game to handle connection speeds. Unlike FIFA were I did play in manual leagues. In fact the last time I played a PES league was PES 5, 5 years ago! We're in 2010 Konami, this shouldn't be happening to such a high profile game, that sells enough I'm sure to fund dedicated servers.

I have a short question...If anyone can answer...

Does the game support full hdmi 1080pi? I just bought a 50'' screen and the game is not 1080pi at all...its actually worse than when I was on a 720p 27'' screen. I mean its terrible...It look like a ps2 game.

The game plays at 720p like every other PS3 game I have ever played. It looks pretty good to me. Pop in PES5 and tell me the newest version looks like a PS2 game.

Going from a 27" to a 50" display means that you have almost quadrupled the area of the screen so of course the image may look worse. Just make sure you are sitting the correct distance from your new screen as that will help.

2) Cable or ADSL? and what ISP?
3) Are you using a Router, if so, is your Router Firewall disabled or enabled?
4) Is your Windows Firewall on?
5) Have you customised your PS3 settings for Display, etc?
6) Is your TV 1080p or 1080i?
7) What PS3 are you running, a fat one or a slim one?

Hope you can answer these mate, I'm trying to single out what the cause could be.

its about how the assistance is working, or better say in which direction
offline cpu is "cheating"
let it be not every game, but many goals u conceade are coz of cheating, simple little dirty stuff like a defender shrugs suddenly forward so that the striker can pass by etc.
a lot of this in the game

same online, one day its fine
the other day u simply get tricked the whole day, noobs win and the goals u get is ridiculous
my 2v2 mate last day had enuff and raged and logd out lol
its obvious u cant miss it open your eyes

one match the ref simply stopd every 1v1 we were in but the opponents slide tackled and nothin happend, every rebound in their feet..
the scored 2 offside goals, we hit the post twice
etc.
this things werent on pes 4 this i can remember, pes 5 im not sure but since pes 6 its cheated and scripted
even more since 09

Unfortunately this forum is flooded with fanboys, say anything against PES and they will eat you alive, branding you names such as troll and whatnot (wait for the posts below). Like it or not, PES 2011 is a bad game. Yes I said it. Just because it is much better than the epic failure 2010 was doesn't mean this one is great.

I'm annoyed at the abundance of bugs and AI screw-ups in this game.

Goalkeepers are absolutely terrible, always punch (a lot of the times to the opponent). Act stupid on a lot of passes and shots, also GK animations suck big time.

AI is flawed, both offensive and defensive:
Offensive: players stay offside for half an hour. They don't make runs when its time. This happens so often it ain't funny, like you're 2 against 1 against a defender, so the other player, just like any other player in football should naturally make a run so the player with possession can feed him the final ball, but guess what he does? He stands where he is, and on some cases even runs back! I mean as much as its frustrating, it is actually funny sometimes to watch it, I just hope no kids watch this to learn football lessons.

Defensive: Defenders allow the most ridiculous balls reach attackers without even trying to intercept or at least position themselves so that the attacker will have it a tad harder (I'm talking schoolboy errors here) and run in wrong direction for Mr. Striker(s) to get 1on1 (or 2on1) against goalie (what gentlemen they are).

Players fail to intercept the easiest of balls/passes, and I'm not talking stretching tackles or blocks here, cause that just don't happen in PES. I'm talking -"hey Mr. Defender, would you mind blocking the ball that is slowly passing 5 centimetres from your feet?" -"meh!"

Collision detection is awful. Raped the attacker and ref says play on? Got the ball cleanly and ref says penalty? Get used to it!

Online is...let's not even go there. Awful servers.

I'm not sure how anyone, with a sane mind can call PES a great game. You don't have to wait to find the flaws, I recommend you to just play a single match and you'll encounter a handful of game-breaking flaws. Rest assured, there are so many that I couldn't even bother mentioning them in this thread.

No, the king is not back. Shame I'm bored of FIFA after playing it so much last year.

I don't know why you started your post in such a hostile manner, people here are for the most part level headed.

A lot of the issues you mention have already been debated to death in the few months since the game's launch. If you want to be constructive, why not compile those videos into a single comprehensive piece that Japanese men will be able to understand and send it to WENB. Perhaps you will be able to make a positive change in PES 2012.
 
Cheers for the clips and they should be posted on the official forums, I disagree with your views on this site though, it is far more receptive to feedback and conflicting views.

btw the ai cheating stuff is known since years, remembering videos on youtube for pes 09
players just stop running suddenly, shrugging in directions, run away of the ball, no control of the player all of a sudden, the refs(011 is hilarious)..
NG code is very very bad AI, they need to hide that with scripting and certain things

some enjoy that, some just cant
period.

oh :) Wait m8 . The game can be bad and broken but you still can have " enjoying ":) In any one thing you can find something fun and joy, no matter how bad or good it is.
In any case, PES 2011 is far from a "great game", but this does not prevent some people enjoy the game, but they decrease with each passing day :)
 
Gah, I've done a search and can't find the info, so forgive me for being a dick and asking here - this new DLC, does it fuck up the option file in any way or is it all cool?

Well, the online system fully complies with this issue. You can not have more than one account per CD key , if you want another account ... you should buy a new copy of the game :D Genuis and so Useful! :WORSHIP:

Know how it feels bud. If you'd been paying attention to the forums over the last few months you should have noticed that all of the flaws in your videos have already been posted. Many, many times. Often by those of us you like to childishly label as fanboys.

I genuinely don't understand what your argument is here. I don't get it. They guy doesn't even know what to argue with me about. He comes with his first post saying "So the game I've been enjoying these past few months is bad? Thanks for telling me. I'll stop playing it now." (very constructive indeed), then says "I know PES has these problem".

If you agree with the first post, then what is with your first reply?

If you don't agree with the first post, then why do you say you have been aware of the flaws?

Hypocrite much?
 
This game is starting to get a bit of an unfair bashing here, with the faults which are IMO not gamebreaking its still the best footy game on offer by a mile. This game has the biggest learning curve in the series, when you start playing it properly its superb. I am currently playing with a tweaked 3.01 patch and i would say the gameplay sits between pes 5/6 which for me is perfect. The knockers seem to be looking for perfection in all areas but for a computer game you have to give credit where its due.

You state PES is a bad game like its fact, you ever heard of something called "opinion"? Yes, that line you said is in your opinion. Then you're seeming like you are looking for trouble in here. Keep this attitude and it'll get you banned.

If you don't like what you see in PES, state your criticism in a more constructive and hostile-free manner. We don't want people in here picking fights.

Seriously, some of you need to relax and take things a bit more easy. It's holidays, go out and enjoy some quality time instead of being miserable deciding to ruin it for everyone.

Ok, I'll make it abundantly clear what my argument is seeing as you don't get it. You post in here saying ''Like it or not, PES 2011 is a bad game'' when that's just an opinion, nothing more. You then label people that like the game as ''fanboys'', and that we ''don't even know how football is played''. See what the problem is now?

I agree wholeheartedly that the game is flawed, and the videos you posted are more than valid, but why so hostile? Some of us love PES2011 despite the obvious flaws. Nothing to do with hypocrisy, but give the game a break. It's not there yet but PES is on the up.

My argument has got nothing to do with a steep learning curve or anything like that. Simply put, the AI in PES is flawed. I mean just look at the videos I posted. And that is just the tip of the iceberg. I am not looking for perfection in all areas, but there are murmurous flaws with PES that is just not acceptable for a next generation title. If I was a game designer I would've been ashamed to release it.

Don't get me wrong, I've played PES and I enjoyed it more than FIFA, but to go blindly and say the game is great would be stupid. I still question everything, from the terribly implemented switching system, to the scripting and never-ending AI flaws.

I give credit when its due. 2011 did a lot to fix 2010. But really, 2010 didn't set the bar up high. 2011 runs much smoother, manual passing system is great, player personality is done right as usual. But that doesn't make it the best footy game ever if you don't have the whole package. I can only hope they fix a lot of it in 2012.

This is more like it. People are still entitled to their opinions if they think it's great though. You might not agree and its your right, of course, but it doesn't mean that they are stupid, because they might be thinking just the exact same thing about whoever thinks the opposite.

You can always post your points for 2012 in the pes 2012 wish list thread. Something good might come of it since Konami are listening.
