PES 2011 Discussion thread

More and more animation, better ai movement pattern/awareness, and tweaked controls responsiveness shouldnt be overlooked for ne.

about ai movement pattern/awareness my example are :
1. In most rebound ball cases,
Cpu ai (opponent) attacker doesn't realize if the shoot he is going to make for he second time is impossible/ridiculouss angle. Meanwhile he has team mate open wide for a pass.

ex by cpu attacker --> shoot --> punch by keeper to the left --> he chase it but my player cover and there is his team mate outside the box standing free --> but guess what ? most of the time turns make 180 deg turn shoot.

2. Throw in,
Whenever my player close down a cpu team mate tightly, the cpu throw the ball to no ones land. Or sometimes towards my player :CONFUSE:
Oh not to mention throw in near penalty box.. most of the time will be long ball ?

Jeezz..

In this two cases, i should admit FIFA 2011 PC is more smarter.
The only problem is FIFA 2011 feels a bit more flat football game for me.. still wondering why :JAY:

Watching MU vs tottenham the other day... and spontaneously, OMFG this is so much like PES.. no no... not 2010, PES 6, its PES 2011.. at least the pace.. although FIFA 2011 is superior in terms of number of animations but it doesnt look or feel like what i see from the match..

and i am just smile to my self. :SMUG:

PES 2011 is hate and love for me :P

If there's something that is undeniable about PES's AI; since the players essentially are "brain dead", it's up to you to call the shots on the tactics screen, you can do *whatever* you want with your players; if C. Ronaldo or Messi are splitting your defense, there are so many ways to stop something like that.

Fifa tactically is a dead game.

Tactically yea of course, pes better. One of the reason my playing time is like 7:1 for PES compared to FIFA.

Just the two of spesific "CPU opponent ai" cases that i think fifa is better. at least until now.

Well, after much frustration, several losses and draws in a row with the worst of the worst and those who are actually pretty good, I've finally found my lethal formation. Now I know why the high ranked players have it so good.

Take a look at this:

pes20112010110101421166.png

Actual score or rage quits? Take your pick.

You just copied their formation and gave them a heavy dose of their own medicine :LMAO:

Just had a massive session, went from being ranked 180ish to 8th in D3. Then did a Comp and lost in the Quarters (I only had 7 points and qualified interestingly).

Got 2m in the bank, don't know whether to cave and buy an 80+ rated player, or just stick to my guns and improve my bench. I'll probably get murdered in D2 with this team. Only thing I'm really lacking in my side is a good finisher, all my strikers are below 80 for finishing and I keep fluffing chances. :CONFUSE:

So, the only reason he was doing this was to try and ruin other people's experiences? He doesn't seem to get anything out of it, unless he gets good money, but how much do you get by getting such a low rating?

LOL had to laugh at this. Ultimate troll, no idea what it is about online anonymity that turns people into arseholes.

Played against someone using a 4 CBs, 2 DMs, then 4 far, far upfront. Quite a good team as well with the likes of Drogba, Krasic, Arshavin but he was just utterly utterly terrible. At 3 up I stopped closing him down and just generally let him have the ball for at bit, mainly because I didn't want him to quit as I wanted to save a highlight. After a few opportunist shots he cottons on to what I'm doing, and pride quite clearly hurt he scores an own goal, then immediately goes for another. Managed to nick it back off him and just pass it around. Swear the online community must have an average age of 11.

Bed now as my eyes are bleeding :JAY:

Brilliant post mate!:APPLAUD:

Ibrahimovich is rated what, 98 as a CF?! A 98?!!! Thats PELE-Maradona LEGENDARY stat! W T F

And Arshavin was a no hoper loser in the Rissian team untill he joined Arsenal, over one year hes been transformed into Russian Messi... W T F

Still love this game- ever since PES6, there was this void that is now filled in my soul:)

The game is full of players whose stats are dependent on where they play and where they have played and not their real life ability.

Since going through and editing every player in the game for the last two releases I have notices patterns, which point to lazy development approaches.

Every year the players stat database is hardly touched and they simply tweak the underlying code that governs how much each stat is used.

For example, teams that play in leagues that Konami view as smaller than the big European leagues are automatically given lower stats. Fair enough the overall standard may not be as high, but giving someone low agility, response, balance and speed by default without even looking at them because they play for a small Dutch team and not a Premier league team is shocking. Why would a player in any league be expected to have better physical attributes than players in other leagues?

As well as physical attributes they also give them football attributes that are defined by where they play. An example of this is attackers at small clubs who are not famous, will automatically have stats for shooting in the lower to mid seventies, whilst players at big clubs who don’t even play up front, will automatically have better shooting stats. So you end up were a defender at Man Utd has better shooting stats than a forward at a small French club who regularly scores.

You can see that the player stat database isn’t looked at between releases as players who they have automatically given high teamwork and aggression as they have played at a top team who have been transferred to smaller club in real life, now appear at the new club in the game with their stats unchanged and sticking out a mile in their new teams line up because at some point in a previous release of the game they play at a big club and were automatically given high stats.

One of the many reasons people complain about the game is that they think its un-responsive, whilst others think its fine. Well if your team isn’t one of the big teams all the players will have poor movement stats by default. How much control and movement you have over a player should not be used to define how good they are

As far as I am concerned, the vast majority of players in the game should have their movement stats set to at least 75. This gives more fluidity to game play. Each players actual football skill should then be used to define how good they are

Just a quick question; can you turn player skill cards on and off like last year? I can't seem to find anyway of doing it...

You cannot turn them on or off this year, however, they are automatically turned on (or off) depending on where you place the player in your formation. For instance, if you have a player who is registered at SS and has the Goal Poacher card, it will be (automatically) turned off if you play him as a CF.

I'm not sure if that example it 100% but the idea is that playstyle cards are turned off automatically when they no longer make sense for the current position.

Does anyone here, noticed the difficulty in finding a match, this couple past days?

I have no complaints on lag, just a game in 20 or so in average with lag but i think that fair normal.

But finding a game its becoming really difficult, and the online environment is really slow. Sometimes in the past 2 days i was getting error when i´m in a competition in MLO, and in 1 hour of competition i only managed to play one single game. Frustrating to say the least.

That is happening to me as we speak. I've mucked about with various options and my router, all mid competition. It's taking ages to connect and navigate and I've started getting 'an error has occurred' messages again.

People have said it's PES 6 standards - the whole infrastructure is miles short in terms of stability. I don't remember being booted out of lobbies or matches anywhere near as frequently. It's a painful, painful experience going online at times.

great post, i sat down and played on top player at the weekend with the tweaked gameplay, have to say theres a real differnce in how the players feel, they are much more responsive and more individual than the default edit file, i also love the way fast attackers will now skin slow defenders just like real life, you got rid of the elastic band movement of defenders catching up with strikers no matter what the difference the speed and acceleration stats were between the players, i hit a tru ball to kalou and was in a foot race with carvalho with kalou having a 2 yard head start and i managed to beat him to the ball and he couldnt catch up,in the default file carvalho wold have got back and got kalou off the ball

its playing fantastic now and i urge everyone to try it out, cant wait til you have the full file finished:))

It's instinctive to head at goal when a cross comes in, but today I have made an effort to knock the ball down/on, either to the strike partner or a runner from midfield to hit, some of the goals I have scored have been very realistic :).

Simple bit of advice and I'm sure most of you do it anyway, but I suggest you lot try this too - works especially well from R2 lofted crosses :).

i always use it for corners for flick ons, very effective

Yeah that's my tactic also for long freekicks, chipped into the targetman and nodded down to a player outside the box. Need to make a mental note of trying it on crosses I've little chance of scoring from though

Just a question guys, during replays its not possible to move the camera above the ball? Previously you could move the right-analog stick and the camera can move up, now it seems like its always stuck to the ground. Is there a way ? (hope that made sense :p)

Unfortunately not, camera height on replays cannot be adjusted :(.

Spent a few hours on Champions League mode. Had no luck but enjoyed it. Just booted up a Copa Libetadores save and i'm not kidding you, the actual ball is like a basketball. It's huge compared to the other balls. How can a football be a different size on a different game mode.

Play a standard match with a regular ball (CL ball or the EPL ball)and then play a Copa friendly, at Ville Marie, day time, rainy (maybe it only works in specific stadium/weather conditions) and see for yourself. It's crazy. It's also pointless. But still...

1st beta of game play file now available - all feedback welcome

MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

This is for the option file that Goalged previously released, though you do not need to install the rest of the files to try the game play changes. This is just the edit data.

Only the teams in the Spanish, English and Italian leagues have been edited at this point, more to follow in coming weeks.

When will the final version of this be released, as it sounds great?

WOOT, just downloaded the WENB OF, just gonna try it out now :)

Hope you are all well, add me on PSN if u fancy a game of pes11 sometime :D (when I can get my mum off the TV in the lounge, bloody soaps!)

Great run prompts, this is what happens when Konami listen to jokers on the forums, they put time and effort into something that is not needed and take resources away from things that desperately need fixing.
I thought we had seen the end of the "off the ball movement" complaints now that people had time to see that tactics need sorting and you need to be sharp in spotting runs or they will stop. And if your player is not running into space then just play the damn ball into it for them to chase, its simple. The runs are not perfect by any means but it is effective enough that they do not need to waste time implementing a new system that will no doubt F up the game in some way.
Since really getting used to the game I could probably count on one hand the amount of times there has been an obvious run on and it was not attempted or I couldnt get them to make it with a pass.

I do like that they are taking feedback but the problem with it is that forums are full of idiots, thankfully this place does not suffer but PESFan certainly does. I seen countless complaints about the game made by people that obviously went into it with the mindset that they were not going to like it and accordingly picked out faults that arent really there to suit their preconceived notion of the gameplay. People were saying they took it back to the shop after like 10 matches!!! This is not enough time to fairly judge a game.
And morally bankrupt reviewers in EAs pocket do not help either. I seen one review, in Edge magazine I think that was just full of lies! He, the coward did not even put his name on the piece it just said by Edge staff, it was probably written by EA, said that the game has 8 way directional movement!!!!!!!!!

It could just be exactly what it says a 'rumor' and not appear in the game :D

Yeah it's completely unbalanced in my opinion.

It's not really Jamez, in my opinion it's pretty much spot on. You cant earn mega-bucks in these Competitions, even if you get to the Knockout Phase.

On average, it will cost you £160,000 to enter a Comp. You may get to play 5 games maximum, each of which will bring you anything between £70,000 to £120,000 depending on the teams your playing. More often that not in my experience it's around £75,000. Then, unless you do well, you can earn between £20,000, or £150,000 for maybe 2 wins and a loss.

So overall, unless you get to the Knockout phase and earn £500,000, realistically you havent really made that much money. £350,000 for Gate Receipts, and your bonus which on average, maybe about £100,000. Thats £450,000 in total, but you have spent £160,000 to enter it. So thats under £300,000 earned for a Comp you have done very well to get into in the first place. And this is based on you winning more than you lose.

I'm happy with that type of scenario, keep's it all fresh and at the same time makes it difficult for most people to get great teams quickly.

Hi all, haven't played this in 3 weeks or so now.

I've looked but no joy, can anyone recommend a good PC option file with transfers, formations, names etc all up to date?
