I dont understand why anyone would want to start a ML with a team already in the Champions League and I guess with a real squad, the challenge and fun is in getting to this point not starting at it.
I hear this a lot, but whether it's FIFA or PES I think it's a challenge for each game to make it interesting to play as a top team in CM or ML. We shouldn't be criticizing people who choose Barca or Man Utd as much as asking Konami and EA to find a way to make their game modes more fun for fans of the big teams.
I'm like you, I love taking small teams and turning them into giants. For me that's where the fun lies. But I can understand how a diehard Barca fan wants to play as Barca.
So to me the problem isn't that people choose to play ML with Barca, but that ML isn't challenging enough to play as a top team. Whichever game is able to find a way to adopt their management mode so that it can be more fun to play as top teams will have an advantage.
In the FIFA forums one thing we've discussed is adding a scenario feature, which would work fine with ML too - basically imagine taking over Liverpool this year, where it becomes a fight for survival rather than a typical top-four finish. Or maybe taking over a club after a match-fixing scandal that sends you to the bottom flight, ala Juventus!
ML is legendary but there's still plenty of creative room to grow. That's my humble opinion at least.
