PES 2011 Discussion thread

Zee, the guy will do that to gain an upper hand on the set piece. It slows the game down for a 1-2 second window after the unpause, where I assume he can exploit the timing through the slowdown and "cheat" the set piece. I'm sure most have noticed this behavior occur after any unpausing of the match, so both the client and user can be in sync again, but at the expense of those few seconds of initial slowdown. A real cheeser classic.

I was about to write another explanation, but your's is the most probable. I was thinking maybe, like me, that he was playing with no power bar, but was putting it on for the set-pieces. I had considered this, but couldnt be bothered, and I managed to score my first decent range free-kick online with D'Alessandro and no power bar. It felt great, and I couldnt have bent it away from his keeper anymore. He even knocked out a Nice Goal comment. Which was nice. :)

I got promoted to D3 on MLO, will probably wish I hadn't, usually the higher up you go in any rankings, the more dickheads you encounter...

EDIT: Yup, first game tonight, up against an absolute bellend.

Been on this forum for 8 years now and every single time there is somebody who claims he wins everything, he plays with one of the big teams...
I used to say to have a really huge challenge with those big clubs, play it with the television off...but they don't get the irony...

PES is meant to be played with litle clubs...why not give it a try with Gijon, Catania. PAOK Salonica, Valenciennes, Blackpool or Club Brugge?

hanks to you, upon your suggestion I used West Ham, n am mightly impressed with the fun it delivers, taking a weak team.. lost first 2 matches away from home, then got adjusted to their formation and have now began to win and score
home record is really good,, have defeated arsenal, thumped aston villa 5-1 (FA cup).. its really wonderful.. thanks to you..

PS: hitzelberger is a fantastic striker of the ball, wat left foot he has, amazing!!!

The guy I beat sent me a message to tell me I am a "lager", which probably meant lagger but the game was smooth as butter so I told him cheating was not my style.

Yeah zee i remember one time i beat this guy and he sent me a message calling me a "Lagging cunt" Oi less of the lagging. Seems to be an excuse for tossers who are full of sour grapes. :BLEH:

its weirdly done

no matter wich defender i choose and go to mark there is always the line to a striker
but i cant see if its on or off

edit
got it
a red line is on, if u want to turn off simply do it again and the line shows grey if ur goin to the mark setting

Just played online, saw a guy with a D1 rank and decided to give him a go. In team selection I held down the random button for a few secs then pressed X and got stuck with Bolton, he went straight to Inter and into gameplan we went. He stuck 5 CB's inside his box, Cambiasso and Muntari in DMF, 1 AMF and 3 CFs inside my box. I was tempted to quit when I seen his tactis but I thought I would mess with my settings and see if I could atleast frustrate the SOB. I pushed my back line high up and set it to 20 on the slider, upped the pressing and decided to play the long ball to big Kev.
Game starts and he plays the ball back to the CBs then fires a long ball out to the wings for one of his forwards, I knew when I seen his gameplan that I was in for this but was not expecting it that fast! Boltons defense turns out to be a bit handy so I constantly thwart his attempts to play like a nob, get the ball and play it up to the big CF. Unsurprisingly he is pretty crap at defending and using Davis to pivot off I was getting Petrov and the Korean up in support and was causing him problems. Eventually Davis runs onto a long ball, holds off the CB and puts a low stike from outside the box past his keeper into the bottom right corner :APPLAUD:
Time goes by and it stays a 0 - 1, his attempts to play out to the wings and cut back arent going too well and at about 60 - 70 mins he goes into gameplan. I also go in to see what he is upto and the idiot has put 4 strikers as far up the pitch as possible, 1 in each corner and 2 inside the 6 yard box. 3 AMFs push up as far as they can go and 3 CBs in his box. I pushed my back line up to the limit stuck my midfield back ontop of them left big Kev & Klasnic up top.
These tactics arent working for him either and everytime he gets the ball he just lumps it through the middle or out to the wings. At around 85 mins I get possession near my corner and try to keep it there and waste some time, he pushes me off the ball, cuts it back and equalizes with ETO then sends me a message saying "You will not beat me!". Never mind I thought A draw against such an epic twat is just as good as a win. I kick off, play it around a bit and try to run down the clock. 90 mins is up and he plays one of his long balls to one of the forwards but it goes to my keeper, I play a big long ball to Klasnic and it bounces off one of his CBs heads back to another one of his CBs, you can see he is just powering up his passes desperately trying to clear and it hits Klasnic and drops in the box, his keeper rushes out to clear and hits it right into one of his CBs and it rebounds into his goal :LMAO:
He kicks off then the whistle goes for full time, most satisfying win ever.

Jeez the AI steps it up for Europa League knockout games (and presumably Champs League too). I've been doing this season as Villarreal, and most of my La Liga games are nice and pretty, whether I win or lose. Just played Fulham in the Round of 32, got beat 2-1 at Craven Cottage (with the usual down arrows on almost everyone) then welcomed them to El Madrigal for the second leg feeling pretty confident.

Never played a game like it. Couldn't relax on the ball, couldn't get those flowing passing moves going - Fulham players were harrying and pressuring constantly, every single thing was a struggle. They had most of their men behind the ball and just fought, fought, fought all the time trying to stop us playing. Virtually no football going on, just a total battle (two yellow cards for each team before half time). Not so much of a "jog bug" now, since Fulham were doubling up all the time to stop the crosses coming in, and "rubberbanding" had gone crazy... yes it was AI cheating, but it felt pretty good in that it replicated the tension of a very very close European second leg, against a team who were just set up to defend.

Finally went ahead early in the second half when Rossi outpaced their defence to get on the end of an early Capdevila cross, but they won a corner and Hangeland equalised. After 75 minutes I gambled by sending on Nilmar and Jefferson Montero the young winger, and switching to 4-4-2. This meant a change of tactics - no more trying to control the midfield, I changed the attacking style to "out wide" and told Santi and Montero to get down the wings and beat the tiring full backs. It worked - Montero skipped between his two markers, got a cross in Nilmar scored with virtually his first touch.

A few minutes later Santi Cazorla cut in from the left and scored a beauty to make it 3-1, and what happened next amazed me. As we were celebrating, the Fulham players were flat out on their backs, covering their faces and looking totally beaten. The last ten minutes, they just seemed to give up completely, totally knackered and with all the fight knocked out of them. Suddenly we could play a bit of tiki-taka, they were just standing off looking glum, and we scored twice more in the last five minutes, both goals leaving the Fulham lads on their knees with their heads in their hands. Absolutely amazing.

I was thinking maybe this should be what Top Player AI is like all the time, for those who've totally mastered the game and need a real challenge (with the current Top Player moved down a level). But then I thought no, league games just aren't like this - you have to keep something back for that "step up" to European football. Even though you could see the joins in how Konami used the AI, it worked really well in the sense that the game felt different, and much much tighter than usual. Totally different from the old "God mode" on earlier PES games, when the AI went nuts and wouldn't give you a sniff: sure there was a bit of CPU sneakiness going on, and it was tough as hell, but beatable with the right tactical adjustments... tactical adjustments you couldn't have made on older games.

Drawn against Man City in the next round. Not feeling confident, but REALLY looking forward to it. It's actually quite hard after a European game like that to raise yourself to care about afternoon league matches away to Osasuna in the pissing rain. Had to play one of those afterwards and my mind was in Manchester already... drew 1-1 with a rather feeble performance.

I love this game more and more every day.

I know, fantastic post an I'll give you some advice about Europe.

You saw that game where Valencia completely destroyed Bursaspor 4-0. Now Bursaspor aren't a bad team at all, they are still playing well in their league ans have a very good, consistent bunch of players. But i hit me why they got beat so bad.

Barley any of their players had played in Europe before AND most importantly, they simply were not used to playing vs Spanish teams who moved the ball like Valencia did! The culture shock of Valencia's play was too much for them to handle.

With the team styles and AI varying so much between leagues, this effect happens to be one thing i love about his game as it happens in real life. I took my Arsenal, ages to get going the the champions League despite being one if not the best team in England!

I believe the same thing has happened to you with Fulham my friend. In your La liga matches, teams stand off you and give you time on the ball! it's the Spanish way, it's all about pretty passing and savvy tactics to suit your team. You know the premiership and it's kick and rush, high pace and power style? Well when Fulham opened that up in your face, it came as a shock to the system.

You just have to LOVE the AI on this game :WORSHIP:

Yeah, I think you're right. I've played as a few English teams, but I think that was the first time I'd played against one.

Not sure what happened to Man City, though. Beat them 3-0 at our place and they were useless. Silva was good, Tevez was a busy little fucker, but I've never seen a player have a nightmare as bad as Micah Richards at right back. By the end Santi Cazorla was beating him twice for a laugh.

I couldn't believe it, they picked Richards at right back again in the return leg :D His luck didn't improve - he was one of three City defenders to get injured. It was weird, though. I set up completely defensive expecting a bombardment, but Man City weren't interested in attacking. No pressure when we were on the ball, and them only attacking with stupid through balls from deep. Once there was a player-switching fuck up in our half, with two of my players walking away from the ball, and none of their players even moved towards it. We ended up with 60% possession. Bit shit after the excitement of the last round, really. I'll have to have a look at City's default game plan, because something wasn't right there.

i've been reading about this L2 shot thing. do you guys personally use L2 when you take shots outside the box? Apparently drives more power to the shots.

another thing, do you press and hold L2 while shooting or after releasing the shot button, just like in R2?

I have to agree with Pere Ubu & Klashman about the AI, it's just brilliant. I have noticed a distinct difference playing foreign teams. Against a Russian side, I get plenty of attacking zip at me, an Italian side and it's full of flair and well-drilled defence, against a Spanish and they let you run at them then when you lose the ball they do it you, it's like being in the bullring! Each encounter causes new headaches in good & bad ways.

I really dont agree with that one.

FYI Jimmy

Sad but true:

I made some testing yesterday and came to the conclusion, that the pressure level, attacking mentality, playing style and the runs completed has absolutely no effect on stamina depletion.

Set the game to Top Player, 5 mins, 2 player game with real and barca.
After kick off stopped the ball with one team and waited till the 2 halves were over.

The stamina depleted absolutely in the same way, as I was pressuring the whole game.

I tried this on terrible to excellent form settings. The only difference was, that on terrible the auto-depletion was a tad quicker.

It means, that only the player stamina profile and the form is determining, when you player will start to drop stamina and it has nothing to do, how you play the game, how you try to spare energy for the last minutes.

It allows also pressure abusing offline and online and I think the CPU on Top Player is also abusing this.

This is a huge flaw in the game and needs to be addressed. If somebody agrees please post it to Mr Murphy.

How to perform a first touch passes from opponent sort/through passes? I have to take one touch to the ball before pass it to a team mate or clear the ball, if I have managed to cut opponent passes.

I really dont agree with that one.

PES2011 has a broken stamina...
brokenstamina.jpg

Gavingstone ran all the time with the ball (set on lowest difficulty)....
I mean ALL the match....
He has 99 stamina and 8 form....
This is 89th minute....
Im 99% sure that we will have to wait for PES2012 to have this fixed...

I really dont agree with that one.

But I agree with him, especially when playing BaL this can be seen at right! In many bugs BaL there is one in which coaches do not change does not depend on the evolution of games and in whatever form and your stamina! Then my players run and run without problems even his stamina to zero! There is no difference between zero and full stamina, at all.

The game is not finished and though not tested! There are many bugs and problems and one of most shocking is when you buy your player, your BaL player, he is always in bad condition, and does not want to play, and after the first, second season does not wish to renew his contract and leaves without logical reason.

Online system is so awkward and bad! You can not chat with anyone you want and when you want, when in the lobby, you must be on specific point to be able to chat.Speaking of the lobby if you want to get into it and it was full, they are not returned you in the selection of another lobby, they put you back to the selection of a new server, not to mention how slow it is in itself each entry in the online mode and most stupid is that, you need to do it every time when you want to change modes of play, whether it is Legedns, MLO, Lobby match,Competition,Quick match and ect .The Fiends List is not usable, except if you can not invite friends for a match, the list itself is hidden in three or four submenus. Selecting a side in Room Match is deficient, must once again go into several submenus the General setting to do that and is so confused for most of players, but can be so easy!

I could go all day to write a thoughtless in this game, I do not get me wrong, there are many good things in the game that I enjoy and have fun, but the game looks coarse and unfinished, not tested, and this is repeated now fifth year!

PES 2011 Best NG version of PES is it? - YES!
PES 2011 PES Best Is !?? ... No

P.S.Sorry for my english !

You would have the same result, if he would not run a meter during the 89 minutes.. That's the problem.

No matter what you do on pitch, the stamina will decrease based on only form and player stamina level..

I do not want to wait till pes 2012

Quite funny seeing people using skills, this guy was really over-using them. At one point he was through on goal, then decided to be flash and do a cutback, he ended up back behind my defence :D

Though they'll probably pull a skill off once and think they're footballing geniuses.

Re. the stamina debate, how can anybody seriously dispute that it's a half-hearted implementation at best? There has never been a realistic stamina system in a console football game that I can recall, and for various reasons there will never be one IMO.

Konami and EA are both guilty of cowardliness when it comes to implementing a proper stamina system that penalises over-sprinting, pressure-whoring, whatever you want to call it.

They're scared of alienating the kids, basically.

Which menu is this in again? I think i remember seeing it somewhere, but i've forgotten. Thanks.

It should be in management edit, on the screen where you set up leading/trailing/drawing tactics - there's an extra option at the bottom, which opens up a lot of auto-stuff options - auto-clearances, auto-offside traps, auto-subs, etc.

Stamina was more realistic in PES5 PES6. If you attack and pressure more your staminda would deplate faster. This is not the case in PES 2011 and allow pressuring abuse.

how many times you gunna post this? been their done that. lets move on?

What's the deal Jimmy? I was expecting a long and detailed report of our best of three ultimate grudge match. Where's the report on my glorious 4-0 victory, overcoming Atletico Madrid's meagre attack line through sheer will an love of the game to topple the mercenary forces of the Chievo Globetrotters. Don't tell me I got oiled up at work for nothing.

Hey, this is my first PES next gen experience... Just got the game for 360. Does anyone know where I can find a proper option file? Will it work for North Am. version? Also anyone know if there's a way to obtain the commentary languages from European/Japanese versions...not all yanks are xenophobic
