Eventually Davis runs onto a long ball, holds off the CB and puts a low stike from outside the box past his keeper into the bottom right corner :APPLAUD:
Time goes by and it stays a 0 - 1, his attempts to play out to the wings and cut back arent going too well and at about 60 - 70 mins he goes into gameplan. I also go in to see what he is upto and the idiot has put 4 strikers as far up the pitch as possible, 1 in each corner and 2 inside the 6 yard box. 3 AMFs push up as far as they can go and 3 CBs in his box. I pushed my back line up to the limit stuck my midfield back ontop of them left big Kev & Klasnic up top.
These tactics arent working for him either and everytime he gets the ball he just lumps it through the middle or out to the wings. At around 85 mins I get possession near my corner and try to keep it there and waste some time, he pushes me off the ball, cuts it back and equalizes with ETO then sends me a message saying "You will not beat me!". Never mind I thought A draw against such an epic twat is just as good as a win. I kick off, play it around a bit and try to run down the clock. 90 mins is up and he plays one of his long balls to one of the forwards but it goes to my keeper, I play a big long ball to Klasnic and it bounces off one of his CBs heads back to another one of his CBs, you can see he is just powering up his passes desperately trying to clear and it hits Klasnic and drops in the box, his keeper rushes out to clear and hits it right into one of his CBs and it rebounds into his goal :LMAO:
He kicks off then the whistle goes for full time, most satisfying win ever.

Ern dog, IMO that is a very sad story...and this from both sides.
I can't say that i have much sympathy for you either...

There is maybe reason to call that guy unfair, but if it's possible in the game to use such tactics...why not?
 
Another problem is the ref for some reason doesn't mind a late challenge and thus you NEVER get a freekick for it and just randomly hacking opposition players doesn't have a consequence.

The moral of the story is that cheap tactics and a win at all costs attitude doesnt always prevail Gerd. Ern's opponents formation wasnt to display the finer aspect of the beautiful game, more to abuse a system. And it didnt work. There is nothing sad about that in my book. It's a video game, enjoy yourself, express yourself, and have fun. If you win with that philosophy, it becomes a much sweeter experience. In my humble opinion.

I haven't tried it but seen it, there is an edit league structure in edit mode don't know if it effects the ml will try it when i get home.

ern dog - great story lol, tactic option in this game is great, miss the directional arrows tho.

tell me sbout it. i keep playing against barca, madrid, inter and chelsea.

i took birmingham and beat barca 3-2 just now. kept using messi to run and run and run. felt so satisfying to lump the ball about my whole defense and midfield the whole game. possession was 65:35 to me. imagining how fuck-ed he must hsve been feeling. good day for Winning Eleven.

If the game wasn't meant to played like that, Konami would have programmed it otherwise..
It's like all these people who were fuming when Greece won the Euro's...well that was a very deserved win...i also prefer the football that Barcelona or Arsenal play, but i never saw something wrong with Greece's win.

And don't forget PES may be a simulation, but it certainly isn't real football, it's a video game.

I would also be infuriated with Ern dog's opponent and his tactics, but i don't play online...online is so typical: " my c*ck is bigger than yours"...well mine is not big and i don't care at all...

I think Ern dog's reaction is as sad as his opponents way of playing to be honest. He has no right the feel moral superior becuase he thinks he plays the game lie it is meant to be played. I know this will not make me very popular, but it is what i'm honestly feeling (and not that important to be honest).
 
I uninstalled the game!

This shit sucks so much!
I played a MLO game:
0:2 for the opponent and I had 2 red cards after 32min.
I made the 2:2 at 61.min.
He made the 2:3 68min.
And I scored the 3:3 and the 4:3 at the 85.min.

Than I went into formation setting to play with 5 defenders and all dm.

Than he left and I did get NOTHING! The match wasn't even in the statistics.


SHIT ON PES!!!!!!!!!

I don't agree that if konami allowed something in their game - then it makes a it fair to use that or abuse that.

To me it's not unfair to play like the guy in Ern dog's post did.
He exploited all the possibilities in the game.
He will certainly not win beauty prizes, but it's not unfair...to be hinest IMO Ern Dogs reaction is unfair (well not really because he won the match).

You can't call that guy a cheater. It seems that Ern dog and some people in here feel to "above" that way of playing...i don't see any reason for that.

I will end this discussion here, it would take us too far. If somebody wants toreact you can do it with a PM. I don't want to hijack this thread because i realize that most people heredon't agree with me. I think i would never play like that guy, but i see no reason to blame him.

This sums up what'w wrong with online gaming: far too competitive.

I do have a right to feel morally superior because I am not exploiting a formation that leads to easy goals and makes it very, very difficult for your opponent to score. You said yourself that you would be annoyed with the guy, thats because what he is doing is cheap.

Its very different to what Greece did in winning the Euros. That is more akin to the way I went about countering his tactics. He as Inter was not worried that Boltons players had the ability to beat his in a openly contested game and accordingly went and used a system designed to counter this. He knew his team was far stronger but still went and used a formation where long balls out to the wings will allow him to exploit cut backs where you will nearly always get a striker free around the 6 yard box for a tap in.

Beating him was great because not only was it done with a team that is relatively poor, it was himself that got my winning goal trying to desperately fire a long ball up the pitch for him to get on the end of and cut it back.

I really think that what you said resumes it all.

Why play with great teams and have great players if the pleasure of the win is greater when you play with lower teams and lower rated players. I've lost against players with the default ML team and I definitely take my hat to those who succeed in prevailling their style with limited teams.

I play with West Ham Utd. and even in ML offline I don't try and buy the average star player like Messi, Tevez, Ronaldo, Robinho, Ibrahimovic...That's my spirit of playing the game...I try and succeed obtaining players who in real life would definitely fit the team and make the most of my style of play.

For every choice there's has to be the reverse of the coin, there's always people who like to be Robinho, Messi and Ronaldo and don't get fooled, that's what makes the game so good to play, it's that this two worlds can collide and get some unusual results according to the players skills and luck.

I agree, the Greece example is perfect but to reinforce what you did: counter your opposition cheesey tactics with a lower/poorer team.

Dont get me wrong, I love Milan and when I have the american version of the game I will play a lot with them since I also intend to participate in local offline tournaments down here, but if someone at online wants to play with lower teams, I have zero problems to choose Fiorentina or even Genoa (I love Serie A). Problem is the people that does not know any other team which is not full of stars. That ruoins the fun at one side, but in the other you can play handicapped with a lower team and with some good football you can still beat a big team, specially if the guy only knows about cheap tactics. If the guy has to know proper football, you are lost LOL

Is there a thread on any of the pro-evo sites, to collect the glitches and problems with the game, so KONAMI could pay attention to the feedback and address them via some patches.

This game is very good and addictive, but there are several annoying issues:

e.g the biggest for me

- response times, button press not registered
- stamina plays no role, no effect of form on stamina at all
- player switching- terrible and costs lot of goals.
semi should be only assisted on attack..

Played an MLO open comp lasnight with my gang of no hopers.

1st 2 games I came up against a pair of decent teams with worlds class strikers but managed to pull a smash and grab in both winning 1-0.

I get all excited for the 3rd match as I reckon I'm 1 win away from a qualification to the knockouts my heart sank as I drew a guy with Tevez, Arshavin, Pranjic, Donadel, Jarosik and a full team of decent players. I thought wth and played 4-3-3 with offensive on and Dodo, Ponzio and Giacomazzi as CMFs to congest the midfield.

Within 10 minutes I was 1-0 behind from a corner kick that my defence of Baumann, Valeny , el Moubarki and Ruskin fumbled in a frenzy to get away but conceding and own goal.
The guy I played against kept pausing at corners and Fks for some reason, irritating as hell but I persevered. I started to notice that he was only focussing on trying to get Tevez and Arshavin to play throughballs and started harassing them with my midfielders. Also when I got the ball I slowed it down completely playing short, decisive passes and managed to grab an equalizer after neat work from Ruskin to get a goal for Guiterrez.

2nd half I held onto the ball in the same slow build manner, no 50/50 passes and dribbling with the likes of Dodo who was having a phenomenal game. I got another goal through D. Niculae and then it was on.

He panicked and tried to quick pass through midfield but the trio were having non of it. They hustled, pushed and made a bloody nuisance of themselves.

I kept the offensive attitude and reaped rewards 5 minutes from time when Guiterrez grabbed his second goal after a quick counter Jomaa my right sided SS was free on the left wing a quick pass to the middle to Giocomazzi I then drew his CBs and passed it out wide to Jomaa again, Guiterrez made a magnificent run and I dinked a manual chip over to him, he ran onto it to go 1-on-1 against his Gk and hit a low shot that squeezed under his keeper and into the net. I went apeshit, jumping around like a mad man.

Unbelievably, I didn't qualify through what must be goal difference. But I was proud as a bloody peacock.

The guy I beat sent me a message to tell me I am a "lager", which probably meant lagger but the game was smooth as butter so I told him cheating was not my style.

I love MLO moreso beating the big guns.

Agreed, rankings can GTFO. Players should have a history to look through when you're about to play them, but that is all. Add leaderboards etc to any online game and the children drop their Action Men and march towards the PS3 like zombies to meat. Jeez the AI steps it up for Europa League knockout games (and presumably Champs League too). I've been doing this season as Villarreal, and most of my La Liga games are nice and pretty, whether I win or lose. Just played Fulham in the Round of 32, got beat 2-1 at Craven Cottage (with the usual down arrows on almost everyone) then welcomed them to El Madrigal for the second leg feeling pretty confident.

Never played a game like it. Couldn't relax on the ball, couldn't get those flowing passing moves going - Fulham players were harrying and pressuring constantly, every single thing was a struggle. They had most of their men behind the ball and just fought, fought, fought all the time trying to stop us playing. Virtually no football going on, just a total battle (two yellow cards for each team before half time). Not so much of a "jog bug" now, since Fulham were doubling up all the time to stop the crosses coming in, and "rubberbanding" had gone crazy... yes it was AI cheating, but it felt pretty good in that it replicated the tension of a very very close European second leg, against a team who were just set up to defend.

Finally went ahead early in the second half when Rossi outpaced their defence to get on the end of an early Capdevila cross, but they won a corner and Hangeland equalised. After 75 minutes I gambled by sending on Nilmar and Jefferson Montero the young winger, and switching to 4-4-2. This meant a change of tactics - no more trying to control the midfield, I changed the attacking style to "out wide" and told Santi and Montero to get down the wings and beat the tiring full backs. It worked - Montero skipped between his two markers, got a cross in Nilmar scored with virtually his first touch.

A few minutes later Santi Cazorla cut in from the left and scored a beauty to make it 3-1, and what happened next amazed me. As we were celebrating, the Fulham players were flat out on their backs, covering their faces and looking totally beaten. The last ten minutes, they just seemed to give up completely, totally knackered and with all the fight knocked out of them. Suddenly we could play a bit of tiki-taka, they were just standing off looking glum, and we scored twice more in the last five minutes, both goals leaving the Fulham lads on their knees with their heads in their hands. Absolutely amazing.

I was thinking maybe this should be what Top Player AI is like all the time, for those who've totally mastered the game and need a real challenge (with the current Top Player moved down a level). But then I thought no, league games just aren't like this - you have to keep something back for that "step up" to European football. Even though you could see the joins in how Konami used the AI, it worked really well in the sense that the game felt different, and much much tighter than usual. Totally different from the old "God mode" on earlier PES games, when the AI went nuts and wouldn't give you a sniff: sure there was a bit of CPU sneakiness going on, and it was tough as hell, but beatable with the right tactical adjustments... tactical adjustments you couldn't have made on older games.

Drawn against Man City in the next round. Not feeling confident, but REALLY looking forward to it. It's actually quite hard after a European game like that to raise yourself to care about afternoon league matches away to Osasuna in the pissing rain. Had to play one of those afterwards and my mind was in Manchester already... drew 1-1 with a rather feeble performance.

I love this game more and more every day.
 
Although the fact that it's now supposed to be late February and not one of my players has been injured so far, even an "out for two weeks" minor knock... that's a bit shit.

Zee, the guy will do that to gain an upper hand on the set piece. It slows the game down for a 1-2 second window after the unpause, where I assume he can exploit the timing through the slowdown and "cheat" the set piece. I'm sure most have noticed this behavior occur after any unpausing of the match, so both the client and user can be in sync again, but at the expense of those few seconds of initial slowdown. A real cheeser classic.
