Maybe this has been covered but is there any way to manually aim your shots at goal during normal gameplay not talking penalties or free kicks. Any help would be appreciated. Game arrives here in the States tomorrow hope it looks and plays as good as the Japanese demo.

It's performance based, not Divison/player/team based. I've played guys with better teams than me and drawn 0-0, but obviously been under more pressure for the game, lost out on possession, shots, corners etc... and lost points even with drawing. Whereas I've battered someone but not managed to score and drawn 0-0 and gained points for it.

I'm pretty sure it's dependant on the match stats. Possession and attempts/shots being the major factors.

Not exactly, but yes.

You can't manually "shoot" at goal as such, but you can use the manual pass, here's a couple of my goals using it;

As you can see from the second goal, they are powerful too when fully charged up :).
 
my team have been struggling for goals recently via coach mode, lost 4 games in a row 0-1. with danny and victor montano lacking in goals as there really only two reconised forwards (put castolo up sometimes but his finishing is bit tosh) so saved up around 2 mil+, looking through lists players could buy, was almost tempted to buy odemwinge but then had a look at dempsey and i thought since he can play 3/4 different positions, least he'd be good rotation, first game i played him upfront (ss) with and victor montano, danny just sitten off behind them, dempsey scored like 20 minutes in, then set up danny for two, following game, i win 1-0, thanks to dempsey with a lovely dog corner strike (although the guys controller cut out)

so all in, this game has alot of depth and dempsey is pretty slick in this game, only issue im having is the player switching and ref's, some of the decisions are balls, and penaltys, not my best mate
 
Really enjoying this game, in fact I'm loving it however it does have it's bad times too. It's definitely a different build then the demo unlike we was promised and in many ways worse off, i certainly never had any switching problems in the demo and the final game is definitely less responsive although I'm kinda used to it now but doesn't excuse it.

The A.I on top player is a massive improvement and is a lot more dangerous and quick witted than last years strolling on the spot when in the penalty area frolics.

Keepers although improve in terms of response and positioning are still pretty god damn frustrating in regards to their reluctance to palming the ball anywhere but the most dangerous area at the time and defenders seem to automatically put balls out for corners even when your clearly aiming up field, fucking annoying.

Awesome bud, struggled a bit the first game, but showed flashes in the second. You played some lovely stuff, great to watch. Gutted we never finished the second game, but I can only access one Competition per day due to time so I had to leave, what can I say, I'm a MLO addict.

I played in the Open Comp and gained enough cash to buy back a player I sold to release funds, so it was worth it, I love Raineau. I'm off work tomorrow, so I'll be online tonight for a few games if your up for it bud. Really enjoyed that all Italian match-up last night, and Toni is a beast.

Edit - Klashman and Zee both PASSED their PEEL trial games and drew Espanyol and Werder Bremern respectively. Both are in my division next season, I can see it being a long season for my 'unfashionable' Chievo outfit, but I just love that. :)

The more I play this the more I rike it. It's a completely different game when you feel in control of the game, being able to master twists and turns which felt impossible in the beginning (everything felt sluggish because I came from Skating With FIFA).

There are quite a few annoying things in the game, but it still feels like football. Last time I felt that was PES 5.

For PES 2012 I hope they fix:

Top spin shots.
This is something that has been bothering me forever with PES so I take notice of this unconsciously every game I play. I have had ONE top spin shot in all games I have played. That was from a volley that had a very slight top spin, but it was there. Watch any goal compilation and I can bet you that no goal (except freekicks) will have top spin on the ball. Then watch the goals from the week's real football games and notice how many shots that have top spin (since most player kick UP (sweeping motion) on the ball and not down (chopping motion).

Stumbling animation.
I can't be the only one that hates this long annoying animation? It's like it is made by a really bad actor that gets told to stumble forward and then stop. This does not happen in real life. If you stumble you try to get back in control (or fall over) and not stumble forward and then just stop staring out at space for a second or two. It is obvious they added this to make the other player being able to take the ball. It's very arcady. Stumbles should be contextual and not always the same one.

Also they did a "PES 6" on us and made defending require no skills. In the demo it was freekick if you kicked someone's leg or ran into them from behind so that they stumbled. But they removed this from the real game and now you can mistime standing tackles and still take the ball. I'll let them get away with this because they probably did it because they messed up the advantage rule. PES 2012 must have a working advantage rule and make defending realistic again.

Collisions between players.
Must be much more organic. In real life players shield the ball with their arm when dribbling with the ball. Right now it looks like when amateurs plays, because they never shield the ball. Also how the players just bounce weirdly against each other doesn't look very pleasing to the eye.

I think these are the major things that I don't like about the game. Everything that actually has to do with football philosophy is really good though, and that is why this game wins hands down.

Edit: Oh and the old classic one where the CPU players always run into the ball conceding throw ins instead of just letting the ball get out of play and get the throw in themselves. So many years have passed and they still don't program the AI to adjust their actions when close to the edges of the pitch.

To be honest this does knock the game down quite a bit when this issues becomes constant annoyances. Pretty much the only real stand out issues i have are the latter two(as you included a point about defending too) but the first point is true as well.

That and ML being non-editable.

Played some games online last night, enjoyed the early 4 games against fair opposition including one exciting 0-0 north london derby(me spurs), came up against higher ranked opponents who chose barca and real i hope this isn't the case the higher i move up the rankings.

The unresponsiveness of the game is rather glaring online, player switching is absolute balls.

Anyway still enjoying this game highly.

I was tempted to try online (MLO) for the first time ever, but with all i read i'm not so sure. I will try a couple of games against people i know...

The off-line part of the game is brilliant although it has very obvious flaws (player switching, the stumbling, some animations...). Scoring a goal gives me a thrill i neve had with FIFA (although i preferred FIFA 9 and 10 by far from the PES of those years).

I wanted to begin a ML, but i feel i'm not good enough...so i'm playing a league with Sunderland which i truly enjoy. Will try a ML with USC Palermo too...

After having mostly played FIFA for a couple of years, i'm fed up with all the editing that is necessary...does anybody knows a good option file for 360 please? That would help me a lot.

pesgaming has some 360 option files with guides to import them into your xbox 360

Please tell me that, that doesnt mean edited players stats arent't picked up in the master league?
 
Just played online, saw a guy with a D1 rank and decided to give him a go. In team selection I held down the random button for a few secs then pressed X and got stuck with Bolton, he went straight to Inter and into gameplan we went. He stuck 5 CB's inside his box, Cambiasso and Muntari in DMF, 1 AMF and 3 CFs inside my box. I was tempted to quit when I seen his tactis but I thought I would mess with my settings and see if I could atleast frustrate the SOB. I pushed my back line high up and set it to 20 on the slider, upped the pressing and decided to play the long ball to big Kev.
Game starts and he plays the ball back to the CBs then fires a long ball out to the wings for one of his forwards, I knew when I seen his gameplan that I was in for this but was not expecting it that fast! Boltons defense turns out to be a bit handy so I constantly thwart his attempts to play like a nob, get the ball and play it up to the big CF. Unsurprisingly he is pretty crap at defending and using Davis to pivot off I was getting Petrov and the Korean up in support and was causing him problems. Eventually Davis runs onto a long ball, holds off the CB and puts a low stike from outside the box past his keeper into the bottom right corner :APPLAUD:
Time goes by and it stays a 0 - 1, his attempts to play out to the wings and cut back arent going too well and at about 60 - 70 mins he goes into gameplan. I also go in to see what he is upto and the idiot has put 4 strikers as far up the pitch as possible, 1 in each corner and 2 inside the 6 yard box. 3 AMFs push up as far as they can go and 3 CBs in his box. I pushed my back line up to the limit stuck my midfield back ontop of them left big Kev & Klasnic up top.
These tactics arent working for him either and everytime he gets the ball he just lumps it through the middle or out to the wings. At around 85 mins I get possession near my corner and try to keep it there and waste some time, he pushes me off the ball, cuts it back and equalizes with ETO then sends me a message saying "You will not beat me!". Never mind I thought A draw against such an epic twat is just as good as a win. I kick off, play it around a bit and try to run down the clock. 90 mins is up and he plays one of his long balls to one of the forwards but it goes to my keeper, I play a big long ball to Klasnic and it bounces off one of his CBs heads back to another one of his CBs, you can see he is just powering up his passes desperately trying to clear and it hits Klasnic and drops in the box, his keeper rushes out to clear and hits it right into one of his CBs and it rebounds into his goal :LMAO:
He kicks off then the whistle goes for full time, most satisfying win ever.

btw i got my copy yesterday, and i get the idea that this is much easier than the demo. i always feel like this when the full game is out. i completely dominated the game, using internacional going against chivas. ended up winning the game 5-1.

to make sure im not imagining things, i went back to the demo and tried the game. i got battered 2-0 using the same teams.

or ...

is it just me? :P

one more thing, the trade player option is still not there, im a sad panda :(
