PES 2011 Discussion thread

Oh and you guys surely can't have not noticed how easy it is for people to pass their way out of dangerous situations where they should have to be booting the ball away/out... Pisses me off when people do this, go on a counter attack and score, such bollocks.
Manual FIFA definitely does this better.
You must be playing a different game to me as 9/10 games i have played you cant easily pass your way out of trouble. farr from it.

To make a accurate pass you need to have space and time on the ball. when your under pressure its SO difficult to ping pong your way out of trouble.

I find as long as you have a god dribbler on your team just walk round the pressure abusers man :)

I guess you dont get any lag online then?

Saying pass and dribble around them is right, it will work but when you add lag into the mix it makes things much harder.
I think I have played 1 match that was lagless, I could worm my way out off tight spaces with little movements of the stick, adjust the players body position and hit passes quicker so I had more passes available and dribbling just felt brilliant, it felt like I was playing a different game altogether. When I get my normal laggy game button presses get ignored, I turn into space but by the time it happens that space has been closed down, try to dribble around them but there is too much delay and they just run right through and take the ball. Once you get into midfield and further forward I end up having to just pass the ball with one or two touches in the direction the player is facing, any adjustment of body angle will mean someone runs through me and takes the ball, its that bad and makes for a very limited and frustrating game.

This pressure issue needs patching, if the game was lagless then OK but for me and many others it is far from it and it ruins what would otherwise be a very playable game. Make the pressure system the same as PES5 and force people to use the new tackling mechanic, I have never seen anyone back off the ball and wait for the right time to stick a leg in. Whats the point in spending time developing this system if you negate it with a auto tackle button?

Also on the subject of player switching I know in many situations it is just bad but when playing ML offline I kept replaying the situations which led to a bad switch, for the most part when these bad switches occurred after a pass I could see that it was my fault due to passing slightly too late. It seems to be pretty unforgiving in certain circumstances and just plain crap in others, Im sure though after a while a few of the issues I have now can be resolved by see what causes them and adjusting my play or switching accordingly.

can anyone please tell me if theres a way to check the teamwork between players, cause i know in the previous games you had that option

It's still there in the player-stats... just below the keeper-stat.
I am not sure if you see it in the selection, but there is an overall stat and when that changes it might be because of the teamwork ( apart from the position).

Im going to do the same too!! Come on lads anyone know why i LOSE points for DRAWING a game

maybe ur team is better than his

like for tournaments u need to pay more start money with a better team maybe its in 1v1 also a system like that
coz in regular 1on1 there are many team levels, if u win with a small team vs a big team the other one loose a lot points and u win a lot

guy i played coach mode in the cup had messi, inesta, pato, diarra, alves and ozil in his team, he was only div 4. not having that, must be a cheat glitch somewhere there giving how much the price of players rise.

Im really having trouble with this game, it seems so unresponsive, the player switching is driving me mental, I find it near impossible to clear the ball first time without having to take a touch, Ive conceded so many goals to this, I lose point online for drawing even tho the opponent has over a hundred points more than me, not happy :(

I'm still yet to have a lag-less game on my Xbox 360. Yet I don't lag on any other game, including the F-word. My connection is DownStream Connection Speed 3429 kbps - UpStream Connection Speed 1109 kbps, so this falls within the requirement. Though the requirement itself is ridiculous in my opinion.

This method is faulty. Air balls screw it up badly and it always seems confused with loose balls (switching you when you did not press the button). Pushing the button in the direction of the player has never worked for me, it auto switches to who it THINKS is in the best position to get the ball (it is often wrong in loose ball situations)

Switching issues aside, one tactic I have seen online is to play a series of 1-2 passes without completing the second pass. If done correctly, this results in 3 or 4 (sometimes even 5!) players running into the box at the same time. How would you stop that? You can't mark all of them, and using secondary press would break the back line and most likely end up in a goal. Any of you veterans know of a way to stop this tactic?

No one answered the call? Klash? Jimmy? Jonney? Rom? Any ideas?

F****** HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! can i play someone online that doesn't chose barcelona:RANT:
Today i was playing online because you get 5 times the amount of GP for every game as i wanted to buy the BAL real-life player extension pack. played 7 matches and 5/7 were against Barca. these were the scorelines

Man City 1-1 AC Milan
AC Milan 0-0 Juventus
AC Milan 1-0 Barca
Man City 3-0 Barca(PRICK ABANDON THE GAME CAUSE HE HARDLY TOUCH THE BALL 69% POSSESION)
Barca 0-1 Tottenham
Barca 0-1 Besiktas :SMUG:
Barca 2-2 Roma

I swear to God in the Besiktas match as soon as the game found me the opponent i blinked and he had already gone the la liga section and chosen barca WTF!! so i done random chose a couple of times and besiktas came up..... and i won Quaresma scored in the 4th minute:P

This game is prob the best ever off-line, with your mates or aginats the A.I

needs a bit of balancing for online tho, exploit cunts spoil it.

If they balanced it like PES 5, which for me was perfect online (exploiters could be exploited by good tactics), then this is the best Pro-Evo ever

I seriously doubt that.

I wish the saved replays were longer so I could show how ridiculous most of the goals I concede are.

Most people I come up against don't even use the long pass or clearance buttons, yet only 3 or 4 times in all of my matches have I managed to intercept the ball and score when the opponent is playing the ball around like a cunt.

Mindlessly mashing the pass button with no thought about the difficulty of the pass, the first touch or anything should make you very easy to beat and you should score literally zero goals... Sadly not the case.

Still, the fact that I'm winning more than I'm losing on the default "assisted" settings while trying to play proper football shows that the game does do a lot of things right, I just think the advantage for "footballers" should be even greater.

Some of the problems this game has are absolutely pathetic. Finding myself coming up against more and more slide tackle abusers now.

The online system in a football game should be moderated, it'd further the longevity massively. "Report A Player" option on the pause-menu which records a minute of play and sends to Konami's non-existent Monitoring Team made up of literally less than 10 staff. They review and ban players accordingly.

How simple is that? And not exactly wasteful of resources. It'd keep more players playing for far longer. And persuade some players like myself to actually try it, as reading people's experiences has stopped my online venture before it started.

Why don't you guys just join the PEELers? It's a great bunch of like minded players, and you'll almost always have a fun game online. Leave the cheesers behind, you'll be glad you did.

Because I want to play MLO.

Getting fed up with that though in all fairness. Similar to with FIFA, I loved it for the first week then it just got boring. Really disappointed by the effort from both Konami and EA this year.

GKs - absolutely terrible - palm the ball out after saves every time without fail.

Through-balls - seem scripted to be guaranteed to find their man, add to this the terrible responsiveness of the defenders and the player switching and it makes for a rubbish game online.

Corners - every single person crosses to the near post man to flick it on and it is impossible to stop him because the player switching isn't good enough.

Wingers - absolutely never get forward when you want them to. This is in a 4-4-2. Messed about with the team styles quite a lot but still can't get it working correctly without sacrificing another area.

Just a few fundamental problems for me that will stop me playing this game. Some elements are good and work well but on the whole it is as repetitive online as FIFA is.

Is it me or is the ref more lenient online?
I have left MLO alone now after getting a Championship OF and really getting into offline ML. I am sure the refs do not allow the sort of tackles or barging that goes on online unpunished, there have been many moments when I have been surprised to see the ref calling for a foul.

Offline the game is really good. I had one away match that had me ohhhing and ahhhing along with the crowd. It was 0 - 0 for most of the game, I was creating loads of chances but the keeper was saving everything. They got a chance from close range at one point which I thought was a certain goal but my keeper kept the scores level, which caused me to jump out of my seat in disbelief screaming "YEEESSSSS!". I was literally sat on the edge of my seat when I got my goal and I threw myself back into the chair, arms raised in glory, soo hard that I broke the catch that keeps the back of the chair upright and stops it from reclining, I now have a chair with the back permanently at a 45 degree angle :LMAO:
I would still like to the the CPU AI play a bit more of football though.

Hi, I'm back after not being online for a couple of weeks (due to moving house). I hope everybody is well.

I can't be bothered to read through god knows how many pages so, what's the general consensus about PES2011? Still awesome or the worst game ever in the annual Fifa stylee?

Personally I'm loving the gameplay. I had a friend over a few days ago and spent a couple of hours playing 1vs1 and it was great fun, just like classic PES. My only massive disappointment is the stadium editor. It's far too limited and seems like a rush job to me. It has so much potential but at the moment it's almost useless for me. Maybe Konami will patch in some new stadium parts but somehow I doubt it.

Oh, and the Konami triangle is alive and well.:))

Both are not true. infact i have been playing againts people higher than me yet they gain points for drawing and i dont

That's been my experience in MLO anyway. I've never seen the person with higher points and the same/higher division get the points. No idea about normal online - maybe the game determines who gets points based on player performance?

I still love it, and I'm pretty sure the "honeymoon" period where something new seems awesome is over, having played over 100 MLO matches (not really played much of the other modes yet).

There are moments though where I fucking hate it, and it makes me want to smash the controller, moreso than FIFA ever did, especially when I lose games against shit opponents to cheap goals in the last minute or something, and when the stuff from my last few posts happens.
I suppose this love/hate thing happens with real football too, being a Coventry fan, there are moments where I get massively pissed off with them :P.

The gameplay is superb, best football game I've played, it's very unscripted and varied, two goals hardly ever have the same feeling about them, and some are just amazingly realistic...

Not sure what I'll be doing on it in a few months time, with MLO most likely becoming a superteam shitfest and regular ranked matches being the usual win-at-all-costs top teams bullshit - maybe I'll start an offline ML or BAL, but I don't get much satisfaction out of beating a machine to be honest... I can definitely see longevitity in the gameplay though.

I'm on 360, as far as I'm away PEEL is PS3 only?

I'd be tempted if something like that were available, but last time I joined a site like that (think it was evo-league) for PES6 where people supposedly played fair, it was full of tossers who still did cutbacks and stuff.

PEEL probably isn't like that though.

The ranking points... This is my take on it.

It's performance based, not Divison/player/team based. I've played guys with better teams than me and drawn 0-0, but obviously been under more pressure for the game, lost out on possession, shots, corners etc... and lost points even with drawing. Whereas I've battered someone but not managed to score and drawn 0-0 and gained points for it.

I'm pretty sure it's dependant on the match stats. Possession and attempts/shots being the major factors.

Over at our house, my friend is now obsessed with trying to beat me! He's using every trick it the book to try and put me off, even insisting i use the dodgy madcatz controller which s not broken and yet he still can't win :SMUG:

I know people have said this since the early days, but this really is a subtle the game where the more dedicated you are the more it delivers, you really have to stick at it to see its strong points. I love the way manual passing is still effected by the player stats and the animation sometimes differs. Personally I finally have a game that puts the ghost of pes 5 to rest.
