PES 2011 Discussion thread

Manual pass player switching has been a problem on FIFA for ages - welcome to our world! Without the CPU knowing who you're passing to as it does with regular passing, all it can do is guess. Usually it'll do a decent job but whenever you hit a hard pass through a group of players to a distant target you'll find it gets flakier.
 
How do the form arrows work in the game?

I won the qualifier (?) in the Copa Libertadores, I won the 2nd leg 0 - 3 (Veron hat trick) but for some reason ten of my starting eleven (and most of the bench/squad) have blue/purple form arrows.

This is apparent in all modes that I have tested. It mostly happens when you are playing away from home. I'm not totally against this method of giving the home team an advantage but they take it too far, purple arrows for maybe over half the squad is absurd.

It's red for me all the time, lag varies from non-existant to mildly annoying yet tolerable.

I played a MLO game vs one SOB with a LAG SWITCHER the other night... man it was so sweet when I beat him...! Those cheating cu...

At around 60 minutes in, after I was 1-0 up he paused the game, then it ALWAYS lagged to the point of slow motion when I had the ball dribbling into his last third on attack. He let it go for the midfield battle, and then near the end with 10 mins to go he flicked it on when I was defending.

It wasn't normal lag because he was also from Australia (only the 2nd one after a few hours of playing), and I know PES 2010 vs fellow Aussies was quick and lag-free.

Maybe due to the Home & Away variations, we should not see the arrow system as a representation of form, but instead one of.... confidence? Suits this system better :D

Stop letting your players go out on the piss toasting Fergies ineptness.
 
I'm playing the first group game right now (away from home), everyone is playing poorly and Veron has just gone off injured.

Confidence would be an interesting solution but I won the last game 3 nil away from home, how do you not gain any confidence from that?

It could be something else, something the game is not telling us. Maybe the players just noticed John Terry in the stands, chatting up their wifes.
 
I've finished that game now, lost 2 - 0 and only managed one shot on goal.

I'm at home next game vs Universidad de Chile and now only my RB has a blue arrow, everyone else green or yellow. The bench have had their weetabix this morning too.

How long did it take for a gameplay patch for PES 2010, if any?
 
Due to me editing things myself, I don't want to upload the new data pack (this is the 2nd already). Anyone know what the new data is?

Is there any button or command that makes a teamplayer close/next to you to make a run? In FIFA you can do this by pressing the L1 button. In PES you can do it by making a wall pass. But I want to know if you can do it without making a wall pass (so that various teammates can make a run and opening the defence)? It is very annoying when your teammates stand still when you are making an attack.
 
Argh, just noticed I have a semi flat ball icon after being constantly disconnected randomly.

Is there an email or something for Konami customer support? I don't reckon I'll get a reply from the twitter.

There might be but at least it's not something I use. You really just have to mess around with the formation and settings and strategy. And if you make the team offensive, you will have player runs all over the place. You also have to look for the player runs, which can be subtle but if you notice them you can pass to them in acres of space. Note also that the game has a very different mentality to 2010, where you could mostly charge up the pitch in any situation. This time you have to take time to built the attack.
 
I gave Konami feedback on the red bar issue after taking part in the beta, every game was red and felt like it was playing through treacle. Doesn't seem like too much notice has been taken of the whole excercise then...

Also, has anyone noticed that you can sometimes play what seem like bad passes up to your forwards, only for the AI defence to let it roll right by them and your player latches onto the ball? Almost like it's letting the ball go through to your player? On proffessional level, anyways.

By the way, I know this will have been asked time and time again, but how the hell do you shoot low in this game?? It's driving me nuts, I really like the game except for the shooting.

Example;

Arshavin broke down the inside left channel, kind of through on goal, and I tried a low shot across the keeper. I tapped the shoot button as lightly and quickly as I could, it barely registed on the power meter. Yet it went flying into the top corner like a rocket. Great goal, but little satisfaction for me because it's not what I'd intended. It felt like I'd scored it by accident.

Five minutes later, in exactly the same position, with the same player, with his body shaped up to shoot in the same way (simply dribbling towards the goal), I did the exact same method of shooting and it went low, hard, and just past the post.

Now why did one shot go high and the other low? And why did they both travel like a rocket? Can't you do measured, placed, softer shots in this? Using the controlled shot button doesn't seem to do much for me.

I can control the direction and pace, but not the height. It's really becoming a game breaker for me now.

I don't think there ever was one for general gameplay.
 
I absolutely freaking love the copa libetadores. The way the game captures South American style football is amazing, poor defensively and structurally, players seem to have less discipline but the skill and general attack mindedness is phenomenol. I'm playing with Estudiantes and Veron is not my main man, that belongs to the left winger, name begets me.

In fact the frontline of G Fernandes, L Gonzales and winger with Veron behind them is awesome.

Seriously, do we really have to manually copy the files over one-by-one from my memory stick? that's crazy!

I usually get the 360 version, however that version doesn't come out here in the states until next week. I'm one of those that think the 360 version is much more tighter in gameplay than the PS3 based on the Demo ofcourse.
 
Noticed a few weird things in my Master League.

Played Milan a few days ago and they had Abate playing as a forward. Thought it was odd, but could possibly be a little bit explainable...almost. Either way i dismissed it.

The next game i played Inter. Noticed they had Danny Higginbottom playing for them at centre back. Thought this was incredibly odd.

The next game i played Inter again in the Italian Cup. They put out a weakened side which i thought was cool. Problem was, they had Diego Milito partnering Danny Higginbottom at the back.

I had to double check to make sure it wasn't Gabriel Milito. It wasn't. It was Diego Milito. It was odd, and i won 2-0.
 
Whats the general opinion on lag?
I only play about 5 games before I get soo frustrated with the idiots that I come up against that I have to turn it off. Out of these 5 or so games most have lag to the extent that it is still playable but button presses go ignored, passes/shots are over and under hit and dribbling is a no no because by time the command gets to my player for the direction I want him to turn, that space that was there is no longer there.

Also has anyone ever seen anyone online using the new defense system?
I cannot recall ever seeing a tackling animation, just people running at my player and taking the ball.
Why do they give us a great new defense mechanic only to negate it by letting players hold X to take the ball?
They need to patch it to make it like PES5 where if you just hold the X you run into the player and its a foul, or if you do it with a really good defender they might get lucky and make the tackle.
 
Important question for me, what is the most realistic transfer frequency setting in ML, Low, Normal or High? I'm indecisive between Low and Normal.

1 window before the season & 1 short one during is what happens in real life isnt it? From what I saw normal reflects this.
 
In my BAL season I have it in "Normal" and it's way too much I think, the big clubs COMPLETELY rebuild their teams in 2 seasons or less.

For example, Barcelona have Schweinsteiger, Balotelli, Gerrard, Ibrahimovic back, and I don't remember the others.
