PES 2011 Discussion thread

I really hope the online is smooth - PES online without lag was brilliant... (last one I played online was 6, played 4 and 5 online before that).

Particularly 2v2 - that is in this year isn't it? Co-op is the best way to play football games IMO, especially offline - one person on the ball, the other making runs and creating space... Even with random people on PES6 it could be fun (2v2 were unranked games, so not as many cheesers...).

i personally cant wait to try MLO

Wow can this news be any bigger. I still sense a stinging onslaught from EA soon moreso with the online kits.

On that topic though. If you were to create the bundesliga, what about the players? What is the current setup? Fake names, player 123 and do they resemble the current players stat-wise?

I am happy it's there but it's functionality will be limited to only seeing the kits. Unlike the EPL which has the names and stats for the players already and the few unlicensed spanish teams.

Fuckit guys I am only getting the game after the 15th. I ordered from the.hut.co.uk but it's still going to take a while to be delivered and I've ordered from our local guys to make sure I atleast get it on our release date if the hut doesn't deliver earlier.

it took me a month last year to make the full bundesliga from scratch, this year im only going to do the top ten teams as i dont really have the time to do them all,it should be a quicker process with all konami defaulted players already have stats this year(lastyear they all were just 50s for every player)and with the base copy function it will be quicker to copy stats for similiar licenced and unlicenced players

I will probably play offline ML/tournaments/training and unranked games before diving into MLO, not that I'm a win% whore, I just don't want to completely embarrass myself!

I've begun scoring quite a lot of goals now on the demo compared to when I started, but still feel like I will get owned online :P I know practically all sports games have cheap tactics that are unrealistic and overly effective, but I just hope that, on the whole, playing proper football will at least put you at near the same level as the people who use these methods (i.e. the PES4/6 cutback, the PES5 free kick bug, PES6 Adriano)...

On FIFA (even on manual) multiplayer games just come down to your gaming reactions and instincts, your ability to exploit the flaws in the game and use the same routes to goal. It does not make you think like a footballer, and if you force yourself to do so, then you will be at a massive disadvantage - admittedly, it has it's moments of genius, especially on Clubs, but generally, it's a joke of a game online (and just plain boring offline).

Oh, and one thing I like about PES 2011 (demo) is how you can use super cancel for defending/tackling again.
I kind of mastered this on PES5 (especially offline, lag made it more difficult online), and got so good at it that my friends "banned" me from using it against them .

It's not quite as extreme as this in PES 2011, but here's 3 examples of what I mean from PES5;

They seemed to have removed that from PES6, instead of colliding, players slid past each other like they were covered in oil :P.

I know you'll do a good job of it mate.

Where the hell are those days that I bought PES played the usual release day marathon for an entire weekend with friends. We basically slept in the room for a weekend while the controllers changed hands. I even remember a friend of mine playing himself to sleep. Lol.

After that I would spend weeks making the game perfect without touching the game modes till every badge, player and kit was updated. I did every badge pixel by pixel.

Aaah When we were young,

Are you going to try and upgrade our original file first?

couple that with the modded console can be relinked to the teams of the Libertadores Cup and you can pass them to friendly, so playing any competition, then fixed if they win the Copa Libertadores to see if you let them desblokear these teams to play friendlies and other competitions

fantastic news about the online kits, I tweeted at Jon Murphy about this months ago asking if the generic kits for London FC, Lancashire Blue et al could be tidied up a bit for online matches but this news is 100x times better than what I could have hoped for!

i feel like the less fouls issue could be a serious issue with the game
it makes the rythm of the game frenetic, too fast
anyone agrees with me?
why don't we ask Murphy to give us back demo refereeing?

I dont think you can play with Bundesliga teams online as if you create a team in PES League or D2 what is stopping you putting players at 99 ability and then using them opnline

It seems it only works with teams already on the game as player stats and transfer are not affected online just the team name, logo and emblems.

Just had around 6 games on the MLO - only 1 suffered from a little lag at one point, good news as well is on competitions you only earn 60k a match and 100k for taking part and don't qualify, which I didn't. :(

One lad had Eto'o and he just chased me down all day with him and scored a header from a corner and one where he just barged into two of my players before sprinting clear, but I suppose your'e gonna get that online.

My formation isn't working that well at the moment either due to the badly slow reactions of the tards, might have to ship a couple out to afford me Arteta.

This is starting to sound concerning, I hope they have'nt screwed it up again like last year. Is everyone still getting pens awarded?

Actually I like how low the fault count is, the demo made my teeth grind with all the ludicrous interruptions. On a plus sude, the game is also harder CPU wise since you're more likely to lose the ball and not get awarded a FK while dribbling.

The referees however are still too nice when it comes to red cards; haven't been awarded once.

That's shite if they've toned down the amount of fouls as much as people seem to be saying...

Using dribbling with skilled players to intentionally win free kicks in dangerous areas, and then smacking them home would have been a good tactic to use against people who charge in all the time.
Was another thing I did on PES5 and 6 (moreso 5) that annoyed my mates, but it did make them defend much better :P.

I'm starting to get a daily stonker reading this topic. I'm starting to get bored very quickly all of a sudden with any other game I play whilst waiting for the UK release.

Has anyone noticed more or less injuries this year, any new animations or scenes? I played the last PES and it seemed to have a fairly low amount of injuries, especially long-term. I like having more of a challenge selecting a ML team each fixture.

WTF!

you don't get any money at all!

I won 10 matches in a row since I play MLO and I went from 450.000 to 505.000 omfg

PS: I have the first exploiting formation :D When I get the Ball with my DMF my MS is ALWAYS free in the middle >> through pass and he walks 1on1 on the keeper haha

I don't know, the full game feels a lot cheaper than the demo. Something very weird is happening with AI defenders. They follow you with pixel perfect precision and don't have to commit to win the ball, they just sort of hound you until their geometry collides with the ball and you go stumbling. I vastly preferred when they had to commit to win the ball as it created some very realistic looking play (and lots of fouls as a result). Instead of fixing the incessant replays, Konami simply made the AI tackle less, which I would be fine with, however to have the AI just cheese their way to winning ball possession is very disappointing.

Watching this, Lyon look really natural in their movements, Barcelona look like they're from another planet. Ridiculous difference in the two teams, so much stat editing will need to be done to curtail the God like abilities of the elite teams.

Another thing that must be addressed is the constant rushing of the players. There's no consideration needed when taking possession and still no first touch. This subtle R2 first touch is something of a myth, and all too subtle to make any difference to the game.

A proper first touch system is needed next year.

I dont agree honestly, there are lot less fouls but today when I played a couple of games against a friend (another veteran from PS1 and so) the game speed feels perfect. It is very hard to sprint with fast players without losing the ball. One game ended 0-1 and the other 2-1. I was Milan (with the transfers done), my friend was Chelsea (london FC :P).

Honestly I preferred the demo in the fouls' aspect since I feel that you cant press X all the time without being punished. Now it is completely different but I consider it fine. What I know for sure is that good dribblers (not mean players in the game, I mean people who plays the game) will make parties in this game. Really really cool...
