PES 2011 Discussion thread

Alternatively what you could do is turn off the Option File auto-save, do the transfers, start the Master League, then just load the Option File again to its previous state.

Genius.

Need some help defending corners, 9 times out of 10 I'm conceding at the moment

Edit - If your playing against a team with a good dead-balls specialist, it's always going to be a little tricky. I try and switch player, or try and position your tallest defender next to their tallest player, as he is usually the target. You could also try second man press with Circle.

If he's reborn he comes back as the same guy but his stats may or may not be high/low etc..

Sometimes players who are reborn come back better or much worse than their stats before :)

What i don't like is how players who are reborn come back looking exactly like they did before. In fifa they come back with a generic face and different name :) .

Different people, different preferences - I like the way Konami does it and hate FIFA's generics. To me FIFA's generics detract from the mode, which is why so many people refuse to play with these "fake" players, with bad names, poor faces, no starhead, etc.

So if Konami were to make a change I'd be unhappy if it wasn't optional.

Does Konami really need that big of a market share? Have they ever had one?

I remember back when PES5 came out and I guess sales wise, the series must have been at is peak around then, I never knew 1 other person that played PES, all my friends played FIFA and all their friends did also.

I think EA need the market share more than Konami.

I'm not talking majority here, I'm talking growth. Every company looks at it's growth or in this case it's growth in market share. The more people buying your game is a measure of how good your product is doing not what the critics are saying but of course, what the critics are saying affects how your product performs on the market as it affects peoples perception.

Also remember not everyone can afford both games and selling a game later at a reduced price moves units but impacts your profits and that's what EA, Konami and any company focuses on.

Let's remember there are at least two sides to any deal - it's easy to be angry at EA but I'm just as pissed/disappointed with the leagues for entering into exclusive deals with EA that result in representing football in a watered-down, inauthentic, spirit-less version.

EA aren't going out of business anytime soon so the only ways forward I see are for Konami to increase the ease and options for community editing, or maybe some type of community-Konami combined effort to pressure individual leagues to end their exclusivity. The last option may be fantasy but consider: up until the last couple years PES dominated market share in some of the most important continental Euro markets, like Spain, Germany, France, and Italy. If they didn't have majority share they at least were close and despite the last few years, PES remains competitive in these locals.

It's unlikely PES will overtake FIFA in the UK or US anytime soon but if PES returns to form, as appears the case this year, then is it not inconceivable that PES will regain market share in the above mentioned markets? If the likes of Spain, Germany, France, and Italy are playing more PES than FIFA, would that not shift leverage to Konami, so maybe in the future they could attempt to loosen EA's hold on the licenses?

With the way big business runs the world (C.R.E.A.M.) and considering EA's massive clout I'm not particularly optimistic but a guy can hope can't he? When it comes to community edits and option files, EA has no legal way to challenge Konami's approach to allow us to include prohibited kits, names etc., right? I assume as long as Konami does not appear to be an enabler they are not breaking any law, no?

No. You will see edited kits but your opponent not. Stats default. This is HUGE! On feedback to KONAMI i wrote a lot about it.

YES!!!!! FINALLY KONAMI DONE SOMETHING ABOUT THIS!

It wont affect stats. All it shows is the edited graphical assets such as kits and emblems. This is fantastic. :BOP:

I have read at other forum that BRAZIL is with Green and White uniforms instead of traditional yellow and blue and it can not be changed with edit mode.

Is it true?

Now that online is working for European users can someone please answer my previous question:

Is there 4v4 online? Jon Murphy confirmed it in an interview in August but nothing has been heard since. It would be superb if true.

Me, Tobi, Lami and Jamez against Rom, Zee, Jimmy and Klash and other wonderful Evo-Web combinations! :)

All fine and well and I agree but we are talking market share here....beeeeeg-beeeg money and that is what matters, not what we the evo-webbers think. Contrary to popular belief the casual gamer has more hearsay than the minority hardcore gamers and that is a fact.

Also remember this is just business so it's senseless spitting at EA. It's in the game.

Do you guys honestly think EA was running at a loss when Konami had the gaming world in it's grips around the time of PES5? EA know their shit. Look at the sales and hype Fifa 10 generated and that game was just plain broken.

Also people underestimate how much 'hype' is so important in terms of sales!

FIFA (and the recent F1 2010) are brilliant examples of if you hype and milk a product to the max, pay reviewers to give it huge reviews and all. No matter how broken the game is, it will not only sell but players (fanboys) themselves will be so entrenched and swallowed up by the hype they will defend the bugs and poor mechanics to the death!

As for EA, do what I do, never buy anything with their logo on the cover. If by some miracle they produce an interesting game, torrent it. They killed the NFL2K series with this bollocks, all so they could continue to throw out their shit Madden games.

Sorry for straying a bit off topic.

Wow can this news be any bigger. I still sense a stinging onslaught from EA soon moreso with the online kits.

On that topic though. If you were to create the bundesliga, what about the players? What is the current setup? Fake names, player 123 and do they resemble the current players stat-wise?

I am happy it's there but it's functionality will be limited to only seeing the kits. Unlike the EPL which has the names and stats for the players already and the few unlicensed spanish teams.

Fuckit guys I am only getting the game after the 15th. I ordered from the.hut.co.uk but it's still going to take a while to be delivered and I've ordered from our local guys to make sure I atleast get it on our release date if the hut doesn't deliver earlier.
