PES 2011 Discussion thread

Nice keep it coming Drekkard. Please let there be less scissor kicks but TBH I am timing these better and getting more volleys.

Pes 2011 is incredibly sensitive to player positioning in relation to the ball and what type of shot is generated as a result of this. I am surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet.

What Konami have achieved is so good that it's a bad thing. No I'm not going crazy. If you have a ball that is being crossed and press the shoot button too early chances are that the CPU interprets it as an attempt at a scissor kick.

But if you delay it enough a volley gets executed. Problem is we are so programmed by the past PES's that we tend to hit it early, which is why there are so many scissor kicks. The other problem is that they are a little too successful not necessarily meaning it will be a goal. But they do go on target more often than not.

That is my understanding as well for the most part.

In regards to ML I'd really love to see more lower divisions added, like 3rd and 4th tier, as I enjoy starting out in the 4th tier English league in FIFA and working toward winning the Prem. This has gotta be #1 on my ML wishlist. Ability to switch clubs would be a nice addition for those who are interested but I usually just start over from the beginning.

Bang on. There was a similar discussion about the shooting a few pages back and it really is the case that it is more contextual and dependant on timing than ever before. I think that's why I'm struggling with it to be honest. I need to retrain myself to time my shots better and pay more attention to the players stance and stride.

I found shooting a little easier in the beta so I think Konami must have tweaked the system since then. I think scoring will be massively satisfying once I get the hang of it.

Shooting is one of the few gripes I have with the gameplay - only having to tap the button for a powerful shot isn't as satisfying to me as having to power-up a shot. Doesn't change the game but for some reason lessons the satisfaction of scoring a screamer for me.

Btw, I thought I noticed a difference when playing the 360 demo version too though I figured I was imaging things. Only problem I have is the 360 controller doesn't fit well with PES imo - the bumper button isn't well suited for sprinting, just feels wrong. I'll def give it another go if the 360 version is better though.

Re: Re: PES 2011 Discussion thread

I see a lot of scissor kicks when a corner is header out of the area and you attempt a shot. In fact I'd say maybe 7/10 attempts are scissor kicks.
Cheers Dags!

I see them in the demo now more from the CPU, so my timing is obviously improving. I'm not upset at all if it hasn't been altered since the demo, it's one of PES's typical charms of insanity isn't it, seeing Zlatan try 40 yard scissor kicks that hit the bar when he's in so much space the fuzz think he's a crime scene...

shopto maybe - i got dead rising from then on the wednesday before the friday release and my brother got fifa 11 today from them.

There are definitely less fouls in the game (personally I would prefer a mid-point between the demo and final build).

I can't see what clubs there are at ML nor online until I get home at night (now I'm at work posting while doing some renders ;)).

Please check online and let us know

Does anyone know if the stutter that was in the Xbox 360 demo (for some) has carried across to the full game?

You can change the buttons so RT is sprint instead.

True but then close dribble is the bumper which also might feel strange to me. You're right though, maybe there's a combination that'd work fine. And I'd probably get used to it with time anyways.

Speaking of RT, is there any reason why PES can't, or shouldn't, combine RT and LT like FIFA does? I'm by far not as accustomed to the PES controls as I expect I will come to be after I get the full game, but when playing the demo the LT and RT felt somewhat redundant. Is there an advantage - other than just not being like FIFA! - to having these functions separated between the two triggers?

Yep, triangle to sprint was from FIFA's early days! Traitors! :D

Re Shopto,

There's been quite a few complaints on this forum that they f#$k about with your creditcard details so I would be cautious.

My 2 cents on the team change in ML;

It would be nice to take a team to glory then changing to another league once you have gathered all the silverware ala Mourinho. Also it would be cool to you meet your superstars that you have nurtured on the opposite side and even convince a few of them to join you in your new endeavour.

It would also expose you to youngsters or players you may have overlooked. Another positive would be that you would have to adjust your style of play. In other words La liga would be about short, fast-paced games, while the english league would be more defensive and tactical so you'ld have to adjust your management style to get success or just stick to your style and make it work which can't be the case as you have to play a style to the strengths and weaknesses of your club initially and slowly bring in the players that can bring about the necessary change.

So all-in-all yes changing clubs would add a dynamic to the ML but the game will have to be spot on in terms of team and league style.

BUT you could bastardise the mode losing that connection that you have with a team and it's players if you keep chopping and changing so that fulfilment will never be met where you're satisfied with what you have achieved.

I just went there and ordered it after seeing they send games early, then I come back here to read this :(
I deleted my card details right after the order, but what is it they were doing with them?

Somebody with the full game, please play a match against FC Twente and successfully dive for a penalty decision - and score it. I'm normally against cheats, but cripes. After watching the first half of the Spurs match it'd be fine revenge...

Holy shit! Triangle to sprint? I can see we have pensioners on this website lol.

I imagine this is more for players that aren't heavily reliant on speed. I don't use the speed button much but do sometimes get it wrong when I sprint into the box and shoot before releasing the R1 button leading to and inaccurate shot. Triangle should stop you from doing this, but there is no way in hell I am going to change my configuration now after all the years of sprinting with R1.

I do tend to use the R1 a lot less on PES2011 only using it for open space or to bursting away from the opposition.

Has anyone else noted the stamina bar on the demo. It seems so last for a few seconds and recovers when you pass the ball. I haven't really tested it's depth yet.
One thing is for sure though. Stamina affects performance quite heavily in the demo. You can't sprint all match with the likes of Messi as he dwindles and his accuracy and balance is affected. I have also noticed that players become clumsier in the latter stages.

That was a looong time ago (two or three years iirc), they've totally changed their systems after that incident. No complaints since then. I also sometimes import stuff from them, everything always went fine.

@Ern Dog: Their systems got hacked, so they didn't do anything with the data. But as I said, they fixed the leak and everything's good now.
