PES 2011 Discussion thread

I'd love to see a mode on offer where you can swap clubs. Perhaps the best option would for it to be it's own mode.

It could follow the basic outline of how BAL works so you start off as the manager of one of those 2 fake teams. Then depending on the result you're then offered the chance to manage low league teams. And from there you grow and move up and up.

Throw in the odd chairman expectations or limits like not being able to buy anyone for the season or being told you must sell before you can buy. Maybe even throw in the odd new chairman who either has money or is just there to buy the club, sell players and then sell the club and take his money with him. Make it bloody hard just like BAL is. And then if you fall short of the goals your reputation takes a hit and you're sacked. The ultimate goal would be managing your national side to the world cup finals.

They'd really need to add more leagues to the game though. Even if they are unlicensed or maybe just allow us to create a bunch of leagues on our games like they are doing this year and then use that data in the modes.

Hello mate

sorry to be a pain, but I don't suppose you could confirm which clubs you can use in the ML can you? and also if you can buy players from International teams

I really fancied Monterrey with their amazing mountain side stadium but shall plump for Wolves or Lecce I think.. unless a good Bundesliga 1 & 2 Op file comes out...

db

Indeed, can you play a ML with South American teams? Why do i get the feeling you can't and they're only there for the Copa and exhibition games. I could be wrong of course.

There is a simple way for Konami to update the ML mode. Bring in the functions and gameplay systems of the PES Management game that came out on the PS2 and combine it with the current Master League. Job done.

Yea weird game. the secetary was the chairmans daughter and you went out with her or something like that. But still had alot of good features in it

Hi guys, I don't use to write here but I've been reading the site for years (call me voyeur if u want). First of all, excuse my english as i'm spanish.

I think Konami may join ML and BAL into a big one mode. I mean, you start as a kid (like BAL) and play X years in whatever the club(s) you do. Then, as you retire, start your career as a coach (you know, somehow like Guardila did, and many others). I think that should be amazing.

In other way, talking about PES2011, I think the tricks are not the Konami's way, they're more like FIFA. I don't like them at all; I think in PS2 times, they were perfect.

FIFA has done that this year, completely revamped their career mode. I quite like that format.

There are definitely less fouls in the game (personally I would prefer a mid-point between the demo and final build).

I can't see what clubs there are at ML nor online until I get home at night (now I'm at work posting while doing some renders ;)).

Prof, i'm pretty sure you can't play a ML with the Coppa America clubs, you can't even use the players.
There arother South-American teams (River Plate and Boca Juniors i think, with maybe one Brazilian club) that can be used. But those clubs can't be used in Coppa America mode. It's a license issue which causes this.

I'm not 100% sure, but 99%...which is a bit silly to say.

Patch 1.01 has been just released for PES2011 on PS3. 13mb
lets hope it fixes some of the serious AI bugs like defender stops short of the goal line allowing you to do a cheap cross even on top player

btw, Konami have added a lot of commentary names this time around.

I've just looked at Athletic Bilbao and they've added loads. Iturraspe, Susaeta, Muniain, and so on :)

Should mention that Fabregas has been added, FINALLY.

Hey everyone, looking for a little help! I'm in London until tomorrow and I want to try to pick up PES 2011 before I head back to the states - does anyone know of any import shops (for the euro version) where I would be able to pick it up for PS3 by any chance? Thanks guys :)

Nice keep it coming Drekkard. Please let there be less scissor kicks but TBH I am timing these better and getting more volleys.

Pes 2011 is incredibly sensitive to player positioning in relation to the ball and what type of shot is generated as a result of this. I am surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet.

What Konami have achieved is so good that it's a bad thing. No I'm not going crazy. If you have a ball that is being crossed and press the shoot button too early chances are that the CPU interprets it as an attempt at a scissor kick.

But if you delay it enough a volley gets executed. Problem is we are so programmed by the past PES's that we tend to hit it early, which is why there are so many scissor kicks. The other problem is that they are a little too successful not necessarily meaning it will be a goal. But they do go on target more often than not.

You can't play ML with Copa Libertadores teams mate. It doesn't make sense because you get to qualify for the Europa League and Champs League. That wouldn't be right.

I'd like to see them under other Latin America though, so I get to play their Champ in the Konami Cup (Club World Cup).

You sure you want to do that? Supposedly multiplayer is regionally restricted, so you'd be playing with EU players. Or at least that's how I read it.

I can't recall the exact post, but someone mentioned the changes that have gone into shooting over the past 5 PESs, all the way back to PES5. It would take less or more power with each game that was released.

Bang on. There was a similar discussion about the shooting a few pages back and it really is the case that it is more contextual and dependant on timing than ever before. I think that's why I'm struggling with it to be honest. I need to retrain myself to time my shots better and pay more attention to the players stance and stride.

I found shooting a little easier in the beta so I think Konami must have tweaked the system since then. I think scoring will be massively satisfying once I get the hang of it.

Do the physics of manual L2 passes still seem different to the standard pass?

I found in the demo that standard passes had an "on a string" type effect to them, whereas passing with L2 felt more realistic.

Hey FD, yep, still about :BYE:

Playing a lot of the demo (360), as i only got it the other day. I really need to try and get my head around the 'game plan' menu. I'm not sure what's going on, if the computer is doing stuff for me, or if i've switched it off to manual or something. I'm not sure why after subbing a player, it tells me to choose a tactic "from the list below". It doesn't look as if my LT and coloured button (for my preset manual tactics) is working either. Maybe it is maybe it isn't.
I'm going to have to thumb through the instruction book for sure. :SNACK:

Hey mate. For the preset strategies, you gotta press select and the coloured button. Its no more LT in this game. Preferred LT cuz now you gotta take your hand off the left stick but oh well. You should check out the command list, some things have changed from the previous pes and new ones have been added. It telling you to choose a tactic is just like a pop-up tip thats all. You don't HAVE to do it.

Perhaps i should try manual then. I'm guessing the default on the demo is assisted management?

On manual, does your team still play out the pre-designated tactics over the 90 mins, if you're leading, level or trailing?

When you first get to the game plan screen, they ask you to choose a few options, leave it to the manager, manual settings etc. Choosing manual just means that the com doesn't choose preset formations and tactics. And you can turn off one-touch settings if you don't want that annoying pop-up next time. After that, you can edit your management edit settings if you want. Even if you don't, the team will play according to how they are set over there. You can really see the difference in how they play if you tinker around with those options. Just make sure you don't give contradictory tactics or something. Hope this helps! Cheers

Hmm on the demo even the standard passes could be played into space. They are more assisted than L2 passes definitely, but you can still pull off some nice balls into space if you get the direction right. But L2 lob passes are simply mindblowing if you can pull them off, especially with players with good passing stats. I'm playing the PC demo with the patch, and its just such a great feeling to have Scholes spraying long balls over for Nani etc to run on to, exactly like real life.
