PES 2011 Discussion thread

I see your point, but I also enjoy the idea of performing well at a small club and being offered a job at a bigger club. Same idea as BAL really.

But then in saying that, ML with only two divisions doesn't leave too much scope for moving much higher than your club whereas in FIFA there's quite a few leagues and tons more teams.

I'm with you Dags, I'd like the chance to move to another team. As you say, the lure would be to start with someone poo in Division 2, build them up over a few seasons etc and move onto a bigger club - can always go back and poach some of your stars.

I really dont mind the lack of divisions in the ML, but moving clubs is always one thing I've wanted.

With the ML, I'm in it for the long haul, and I personally wouldnt have it any other way. The level of individuality of the players is what seperates this option for me from the MM equivalent, and I suppose in Fifa, the full league structures. I like to bring on kids and see it through. There is nothing better than training a 16 year old in the all the area's you wish to mould him, train him in Player Cards, then watch him progress into the first team, a national call-up, and finally a legend at your club. This is a Fergie scenario, and it takes a good 15 seasons to do all this. I have no problem Konami implementing this option for those that wish to have it, it's just not something I would ever use, ever.

I'm interested to know Zee's, Lami's, and Prof's take on this ? as they are all seasoned ML exclusive players.

yeah, i guess once you get to season 20 with all the stupidity (player reborn going crazy) it's time to make a new one  :)

I would love to be able to move clubs but not losing any sleep over it though :)

Jimmy, i too like to stick it out with a club for as many seasons as possible. I also don't like buying lots of players and/or changing the squad much. Instead, i will always endevour to keep a core of players and from time to time, invest in another player or bring through some younger players. I'm not one to instantly swap out/sell/buy.

It takes me at least a season to try out all my squad and know who i want to keep and who may be surplus to requirements. Sometimes it takes longer to spot a player improving, who i may have initially overlooked. It's this longevity that makes me bond with my squad and know who's best suited for which task.

As for switching clubs in an ML, i would rather just start a new ML altogether.

Just thinking about all the modes available, this really will last me the full 12 months plus. And it will be pretty much, the only game I'll be playing throughout that period. With the new BAL, The Copa Libertadores, the CL,the offline ML, and the MLO ( which is what I'm most excited about :WOOT:) and then PEEL as well, jeez, it will be the best £40 I have ever spent. :)

Edit - Prof, thats exactly how I feel, and I was postive that was what you would say.

Alright Prof, good to see you still around here mate. :BYE:

Yeah your like me too, that's what I prefer to do.

I've actually all the time previously made up a team (most recently it's a Greek Team Rodos) and try and buy the usual players that I have liked before.

I'm never one for swapping teams or even going my favourite team.

Can't wait for this, just over a week to go. :BOP:

Well, jimmy didn't asked me, but i consider myself a ML fanatic too..
I wouldn't mind changing clubs now and then, but i prefer minnows to the likes of Real Madrid or Juventus...
I would like to move from Palermo to Lille.
If Konami would include this you would move from Anderlecht to Real Madrid. This doesn't interest me. So maybe, just leave it like it is.

The thing is that in a couple of cases i almost made my choice for a ML club random (i let my kids decide for me) and afterwards i became a real fan of that club. I still like Palermo, Lille and Wolfsburg a lot because i played ML with them.

In one of the next gen ML i had one with Getafe and that same season they played against Anderlecht in the UEFA Cup...i went to watch that match...not for Anderlecht but for Getafe...

Good to see that FD is back too...Prof, FD it's like the old ML thread which was the best thread ever on this forum...fantastic stories in there...

Are you guys gonna try the MLO ? I never play online, but i'm tempted...

OK all you willfully ignorant people lets see what proper team management can do for you.
0fb2bd801e.jpg

Pic 1. Situation like that which nerf loves to pick on. Badstuber at left back in possession, 3 players in silly positions with no sense of space, Ribery, Olic & Van bommel too close not making use of the space around. First things first lets set Van Bommel to DMF to cover the space behind and as Barca have a very high back line I will pull my own right back to give me more space in my half to play in.

Pic 2. Same situation, Van bommel is now deeper and able to cover the space behind, Ribery still not making use of space on the wing and Olic is too deep.

Pic 3. This shows that Olic will drop into the greyed out areas of the pitch, which is exactly what he is doing in the first 2 pics because the high Barca line is puching him back, I believe he also has stats what make him come deep to get into the game. I do not want this from a player in that position so I sub him for Klose.

Pic 4. Same situation again but now as pic 2 Van bommel is nice and deep as a DMF covering the space left by my advancing side back and deep CBs, Klose is on and he is pushed up the pitch where I would expect my CF to be, the change of player has worked perfectly. Ribery is still not making use of that space on the wing, must make some gameplan changes, go and move some sliders and alter Riberys position on the pitch.

Pic 5. Van Bommel still in a nice position covering, Klose is not in the same position as pic 4 but he is running into the space ahead making himself available for the pass. Ribery is tight to the line and sprinting off into the space left by Alves. Muller is starting a run in behimd the defense and Robben is also just getting ready to run into the space left by the Barca left back.

So the AI does not make use of space or make runs huh?

Its all down to good team management, these pics were taken with the ball at almost the same place on the pitch each time, I played the ball from the CB's to the RB then back to the CB's and out to Badstuber at LB and moved him into roughly the same position. The different positions and attitude of the other players is down to gameplan tweaking. The teams come preset but that setting will not work for every team, if any, it is up to you to get your team playing right by being able to spot the problems and react to them, that is what a manager does and is what makes the game soo good, it is not just about pressing a few buttons to knock a ball from player to player.

Many thanks for the tutorial, this has really helped spice up the offensive of my team, espescially to use Klose instead of Ollic helped a lot and by seeing that every player has his best role activated on top of all the tactical settings I previously used to use.

It plays now better with players making some runs and being better positioned, although it could be still better.

Hi my Belgian Buddy, hope your keeping well mate as is your family.

Yep, I loved the ML thread as I did the Hidden Gem thread which was a great one too.

I'm not sure mate if I'd try it on-line. Tbh, I've been a bit ignorant, I've not read all the new bits and stuff, so not sure if it's a case of you play against designated players in your own league or you come up against people in a league format with your own teams. Tbh, I'm always thinking that online users have a horde of cheaters and it just puts me off.

Hello mate

I get where your coming from, but personally i would love a SWOS type feature where you could move to another club..

As you say it is limited somewhat by the number of clubs, but just imagine starting off with say, Banfield then getting offered a job at Almeria or Santander with the prospect of moving to Benfica or Villareal and then finally Real M.

Equally if you don't fulfil the club's ambitions set at beginning of season or your contract you would get sacked or get an offer from a lesser team.

For example, you have done well and get in at Villareal but rather than push on for a CL spot you have a bad season end up 15th and get offered a position at Gijon, Venlo or Wisla Krakow!

Exactly! :TU:

Having just played all 3 PS3 demos back to back to back I am a bit worried about what the final game will play like. I feel the demos are all different than each other, with the euro one being the worst.

The EU demo feels faster paced than the others. Player movement feels a little jerky and the passing is not as measured.

The WE demo is slower paced than the EU. Player movement is very fluid, especially when using R2. You have more control over passing, I feel you are able to play shorter passes and more accurately place passes.

The US demo may be slower than the WE demo but I am not positive. Player movement is not as fluid as in WE but I feel it is better than the EU demo. I noticed the difference in movement between this and the WE demo in the R2 control, its not as smooth. Passing seems the same as WE.

I played enough games to make sure I was not imagining things, the differences are not massive but they are enough to make a difference.
I hope the final game plays like WE, the fluidity of player movement makes the game more enjoyable. If it plays like the US demo I can live with that, once I forget that WE is better. If it plays like the EU demo

Hey FD, yep, still about :BYE:

Playing a lot of the demo (360), as i only got it the other day. I really need to try and get my head around the 'game plan' menu. I'm not sure what's going on, if the computer is doing stuff for me, or if i've switched it off to manual or something. I'm not sure why after subbing a player, it tells me to choose a tactic "from the list below". It doesn't look as if my LT and coloured button (for my preset manual tactics) is working either. Maybe it is maybe it isn't.
I'm going to have to thumb through the instruction book for sure. :SNACK:

still finding my way with manuel pass (always been a analog player)

now i think im getting the hang of a long ball with spin ect mocing the thumb stick

but is it possible to drill a ball low?

FD,

Welcome back, I'm sure this years ML will provide us with even more fun than PES 2010. :)

Gerd,

Sorry bud, I those 3 members were the first that sprung to mind. As for Lille, I have a huge affection for them after drawing them as my PEEL team last year. I even bought a Lille home shirt, away shirt, and a Lille tracksuit training top online. Got them all for a snip, but it is further testimony to my sadness.

Bob,

I appreciate where you come from, and like I say it would be nice if Konami would include it for people that want it. I just feel it wont happen because of the ML mentality that I mentioned. It can take a good 5-6 seasons before you start to build a squad to compete, especially if you start off with a much lesser team.

Ern Dog,

I wouldnt worry at all bud, regardless of what anyone says, the final version is always improved from the demo's. And I dont see this years being any different.

Anyone can confirm xbox360 version of PES2011 has a sharper graphics (for istance in ps3 version I can see posts of goalies pixeled)...?

I've never come across what you describe Prof.
But until i have the manual i use simple settings, and i suppose you used manual settings...
I agree with you on the online stuff...if push comes to shovel it's all about: "mine is longer than yours"...typical male chauvinist macho stuff...
From the bits i've read about MLO you can't set up a ML with friends (if i'm not mistaken). It would have been fun to play MLO with the usual suspects like Db, FD, Prof Nutmeg...people who "know" each other (albeit virtually)...i suppose it isn't possible to set up an evo-web MLO?

Got my copy yesterday at my usual shop. They know me so I get things earlier...

I played a full CL cup and it was quite pleasant. I liked a lot of things and had a good time with PES for the first time in 4 years.

There are lots of technical shortcomings in the game and some thinks that I don't like at all, but I think I will be able to live with all that because of the depth of the game.

I think PES 12 can finally be the great next-gen pes but by now I'll be playing pes. I also bought Fifa and was hugely disappointed. It's a cumulative feeling, something that happenede aslo with PES6. I won't be buying Fifa again until they dramatically change the conception of many many things. And hope PES can dramatically improve the obvious flaws it has, because it could grow into a great masterpiece in some time. It has got the basics very well covered.

I'll try to write something more specific when I have the time.

Perhaps i should try manual then. I'm guessing the default on the demo is assisted management?

On manual, does your team still play out the pre-designated tactics over the 90 mins, if you're leading, level or trailing?

Hello mate

sorry to be a pain, but I don't suppose you could confirm which clubs you can use in the ML can you? and also if you can buy players from International teams

I really fancied Monterrey with their amazing mountain side stadium but shall plump for Wolves or Lecce I think.. unless a good Bundesliga 1 & 2 Op file comes out...

db

Yeah Gerd, that's what I would like to do, but not sure about playing on-line and presume it's like a scoring system thingy.

Look forward to taking part in the ML thread which will no doubt rise. :)

Judging by videos I've seen around the web, and some discussions, am I right in thinking you see less scissor volleys in the final build? I've seen around 20 videos now with shots on goal, many volleys, half-volleys, not one scissor volley!

It could be a case of folk being more used to timing the volleys so it doesn't scissor it. Cheers in advance if anyone can provide a definitive say on this.

I see a lot of scissor kicks when a corner is header out of the area and you attempt a shot. In fact I'd say maybe 7/10 attempts are scissor kicks.
