PES 2011 Discussion thread

Why do not we think like this : Shooting is also manual, but it has player individuality present. Likewise passing will be manual in the sense only the length and direction can be dictated by user, but player's stats decide the accuracy.

I don't think you have anything to worry about Jimmy. Player individuality is one of the things PES has built it's reputation on, Konami would not be stupid enough to cast it to one side.

I hope so Jamez, it just doesnt read to well for me. This is why we have specialist sites like this ...

Because every player is ridiculously unique, please dont ever take this away.

I suppose you have 2 sides to manual controls.

On one hand the style where manual allows for aiming but stats come into it as well. Your passes may well be aimed where you want but the stats of your players along with other factors determined whether the ball gets to the man or stops short or goes wide of him etc. So a tired player can't send a perfect cross into the box every time just because you've aimed correctly and hit the right power (or should that be guessed at the right power). That's pretty much how you'd play football in real life. you kinda of aim somewhere and kick it with the power you think you need and then your skill determines whether it actually happens as you want or spoons off to the side and falls short.

The other side of the coin is the worry that turd players with 60 stats can suddenly pass the ball with pin point accuracy which is very much the Fifa style.

I don't think it will fall onto the Fifa side just because the game has a strong foundation of working around your players stats.
If you grab your 50 rated MF and start taking long range shots at goal, hardly any will be on target and those that are will not have much power.
Then grab Gerard and take a few shots and not only will most of his shots be on target but you can add more power to the gauge and still retain the accuracy.

I imagine it will work kind of like this image but without any of the on screen prompts.

You're aim will be that long line and the circle at the end would be larger for bad players and smaller for high rated players. the longer you hold your button the further that line/circle will move away from the player. Then stats/stamina other conditions (like being pressed or off balance etc and the better the player the more likely they can still hit good balls even with pressure or being off balance etc) will determine whether or not the ball lands at the optimal spot (centre of the circle) or off to the sides/slight ahead of the man/slighty behind the man.

It will most likely work like this:

Passing, shooting & crossing. Power determined by the player (manual), 360 direction choice determined by the player (manual), accuracy dependent on stats and other variables such as stamina etc (assisted). All three in combination will allow for full freedom while still keeping the individuality that PES has.

Bingo...

Plus i imagine there will be some support for a dumbed down less manual way of playing so not to alienate newbs.

Would like them to add an option for us to be able to create as many teams and leagues as we want. They need to make the master league bigger with division. Be nice to have england all the way down to the coference league. As so on for other countrys. They need to add the third cup for countrys into the league format. And allow us to implement which leagues we choose to be in the cup competitions. Im doing the La Liga which is obviously in spain. Im getting rain all the time in spain LOL. Need an option for leagues to choose weather. Improve the classic squads as they are a joke. They use to get it right all the time, not anymore. Game speed needs to go down badly as its way too fast and makes it arcade style of play. Better on the eye menus as they are tacky.

When will the first gameplay video arrive?

I'd say june :) When the world cup is on :)

And it does look like PES will be released earlier this year with the first trailer already in may. Maybe an early september release to try and beat FIFA to the shelves!

Will also require an update after for the transfers!

Still i not 100% sure on this manual thing.

Master League Online: Master League will offer an all-new challenge, as users are invited to try their hand against other managers online. PES 2011 will mark the online debut for its much-loved Master League element

Only thing about online mentioned, no CLubs ? No 10 vs 10 ? Well...

Ah, gotta love this!

We have news in early May, a ton of details, and a short video.

I'm feeling the hype already :) I have to confess, my first reaction was "these are some neat animations, but... I think I liked the previous color palette better?".

Asides from that, I share some of the fears - for me I need the Dpad to dribble. I wish they can get me the shot feint back, as well as full 360 pass with right-stick + R3, and with the possibility of an "arrow pointer" (with the option to enable/disable in the screen settings) and pass gauge. I know that people keep saying that the DPad is dead, but I surely hope not - if they have control options, keep it in as optional! Hell, even FIFA introduced the Dpad after years of analog-only control!

If these happen, and work well, I'm a very happy camper!

It's good to be back, it's great to see all these familiar faces :)

Which shouldn't be the case. In FIFA10 EA had the chance to bury PES once and for all and they blew it. If Konami have truly restored PES then EA could be in for a rude awakening.

Of course, time will tell.

That's because the FIFA dev team are a bunch of mongs who were too apprehensive to revolutionise Fifa 10.

I dunno, i mean i actually think they have their hands tied in terms of making a proper sim. Their game is based on the SIMPLY being smooth. No one review from a magazine has touched on how diabolical the defensve ai is, not to mention how poorly balanced the game is. Depth of gameplay dosen't matter when it comes to fifa!

It's true with FIFA 10, that shouldv'e really killed PES off. It failed!

Lies ,lies, lies and empty words is all what Konami have !!! . another year game will be boring like pes2008. Fifa Wc is not worth 40 euro but is the best fotty game now.

Would somebody elaborate about the 'playstation move vibe' remark.

Yep, you point at screen and press a button and it passes it there, you point at screen and press a button and your player makes a run there, just like the wii version.

Only saving grace for me is I don't think Natal for the 360 will be ready for this type of game so controller only for that platform.

Let's hope they get their finger out........will only make the other one put more effort in!

The animations look smooth in the vid, fifa-esque. We can only hope.

No need for this yet. You can say all you want about the games that are out but its too early to judge this game. Don't be hasty.

Yep, my vid. thanks for posting

Thanks for the video man.

Still releasing on the PS2.

Always worries me for actual proper progress and not the same game but shinier on the Next Gen. :(

They're still making PS2 versions? Are they built on the old great engine or are they build or ported down from current gen?

Old engine. I have PES 2010 on PS2, it's pretty much the same as PES 6 with a few extras and the added modes.

Damn I never knew that! I'd have bought PES 2010 on PS2 ages ago. Then again I'd have to do all that disc burning messing around again to get OF's and kits.

I agree it's too early to write it off. At the same time aren't people being amazingly quick to herald PES's return to the top, as if we've not heard this line 3 times before?

Should be interesting to hear the reply to this from EA.
