Re: PES 2009 News, Discussion and Rumours

I'm sorry but the nets in Football Kingdom are a once in a life time thing. You will never see nets better reproduced to the real thing and I think Konami and EA should give up now and just stick 2 jumpers for goal posts at either end.

Re: PES 2009 News, Discussion and Rumours

i expected more after a year of dev time. i expected way more incdental animations. players still turn on a time and run like cartoons.

as you can tell from my sig, i was a huge Pro Evo5 fan, so the news that it plays like Pro Evo5 is good to me.

i think it should have moved on way further than that by now though.

i think, once they sort out the players movement (running, turning passing), making it more fluid and life-like, that's when people will start to warm to it as a next gen pro evo. right now though it simply looks like more of the same (pro evo 5 with pro evo 2008's skin).

i've watched all the vids, in HD on my 42" tele to get a better idea of how it will look btw.

Also bear in mind how awkward it is getting used to a new PES.

Every year I have to go through a learning phase before it clicks and I start crafting nuggets of joy. For me, I'll wait until I've broken it in before seeing whether or not they've gotten back onto the straight and narrow.

Re: PES 2009 News, Discussion and Rumours

I also came face to face with his poo.

But he made me sign an nda.

And his prostate.

With my tongue.

Oh my. Foreign readers will think we're both mad. I know you are but I'm clearly just an emo who cries himself to sleep, dreaming of having football kingdom nets splashed with a master league, which involves several choices of dog breeds for the back ground image .

Re: PES 2009 News, Discussion and Rumours

lol @ people criticising the people who say negative things about PES, you really are blinded by pure fanboyism.

From what I can see, most of the people who don't like what they see have given good reason, yet all the PES fanboys who defend it at every opportunity always come up with the same stupid excuses like "it's an early build" or "it's a demo" etc.

Unless you can come up with as many good reasons for it being good as have been given for it being bad, don't criticise us for being negative.

Re: PES 2009 News, Discussion and Rumours

If you were born in 1992 then I'm never reading to anything you type again.

Anyone young enough to not be born when Peter Schmeichel lifted the Euro 1992 trophy is belonging to the chav generation that thinks that football began with the premiership.

Get off of my lawn.

Well that is either a very unfunny joke or a stupid generalisation - I know most people my age are chavs but I certainly am not ;)).

In 1992 I was probably getting sucked off by lady boys

I think the last 2 pages will be deleted haha

Re: PES 2009 News, Discussion and Rumours

Well I have looked at the videos, pictures, seabass interview and read most of the reviews. To me it looks fine and I say that honestly. There is alot I like about the new game and im suprised with the critiscm. However everybody has different opinions and levels of expectation so i suppose this was going to happen. Anyway I look forward to the release and will make my mind up proper after a month or so of actually playing it!!

 @ badger

BTW the nets still looker steller in pro evo.

BTW2 the pace of the game is much more realistic. check out some of the pro evo 5 vids out there to compare. they're clearly looking to their best iteration of the franchise for a bit of solid ground before venturing forward with a true next gen edition.

Even the mightiest doubters believe the pace seems to be up to scratch. They seem to have addressed that side of things

Re: PES 2009 News, Discussion and Rumours

Did I miss something...is it a new fad to bash PES/Konami. I thought the gameplay vids looked good and seems that they're going in the right direction (back to their roots). But in the end it's personal taste.

I guess you weren't here last year during PES2008 release time? :)
PES has been poor for a while now, for me both PES6 and PES2008 were almost complete misses. So it's not really a new fad to be critical of the game, I've been critical for almost 2 years basically.

I remember lots of people from differnt sites all saying how good 'Football Kingdom' was when they saw that and imo Pes 2009 looks similar to it in terms of nets and ball weight.

Yes, because Football kingdom couldn't have been considered good because it was completely analog, players being able to hit a dime with a 30 meter pass, and generally being great to look at, to the point where I mistook a low resolution youtube video for a real match before I realized it was a game, thanks to well-designed lighting effects and players who can run in more than 8 directions, giving the impression of not being controlled by a d-pad. Also I'm no net-freak per se, but the nets in Football Kingdom, again in a low-res youtube video, looked so authentic in their general appearance I again actually doubted for a moment that I was watching a PS2 game. ;)

Seriously, look at this thing:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3ICZmWhWYo&feature=related

It is an unbelievable game in some aspects. The animations for the running and such is awesome. Obviously it is a game, but my brain still get's the occasional 1 second "reality" feeling when I watch that video. It just looks so realistic when players dribble, turn, make little shimmies, and such.
Just look at the 3:00 minute mark when the red player dribbles. It's a tad too fast, but it looks like a real game played slightly too fast.
Football Kingdom outshines even FIFA09 in some animation aspects. FIFA has "higher resolution" animations, but again, just from general appearance in low-res videos and such, FK is absolutely stunning, the way animations move seemingly completely seamlessly into one another. Whoever worked on that game was some kind of genius I'm telling you.

EDIT: and look at 3:34 right after the red player receives a 1-2 pass back, and runs and turns to avoid an opponent, notice how he runs slightly in an arch after he kicks the ball out slightly to the left. It looks completely real. Seriously, this is like porn to me.

EDIT2: And look at the inferred weight of the ball at 4:41 when the white players knocks the ball long upfield. Great sound effect aswell. I would kill to strike Freekicks with those physics and animations. It is perfect.

EDIT3: And at 5:15, red player on the near side of the field, does a little stepover as he moves. Jesus it's beautiful.
I could do this all day, but I'm not gonna.

This is how people outside the internet are feeling.

This is a very unique cross-section of people here.

Do not trust the internet.

Yes, only I am allowed to dance.

If it wasn't for me this thread would be clocking in at a 3/10 on the uggg-o-meter. As it is, we're registering some good vibrations. My only regret was that I had to leave my post for 5 hours, leaving the door open for the kids to drink bleach, stick forks in plug sockets and make prank 999 calls. You darn kids.

Im glad someone thinks its good becuase it is. Sofar ive noticed loads of new annimations like when they stick a toe out to intecept a pass when near a player. When they run it looks good aswell.

Yeah we do .

About the game, some people will play it for months on end, no matter how bad it is, just because it is called "PES" and plays remotely like a game they have always liked.

Fair enough, their loss though - I just expect more from my games when I shell out all the money for new hardware and £35+ for each game. I want to play games where it looks like effort has been put into making it, games that have things which couldn't have been done on last-gen (not talking about graphics). Unfortunately PES is not this, and it has turned from what was probably the best sports title on last-gen into the worst of this generation, I would love it to be back to it's former glory (not as the same game, though) - having two good football games on the market is better than one - it forces innovation and improvement.

I just hope EA don't "do a Konami" and sit back and watch the money roll in because they have the better game while keeping the game almost the same year on year.

PES 2010 is the supposed complete overhaul, it's long overdue and it's probably make or break time for the series really that one. PES 09 just seems like a game just to fill the gap for some people until it.

When I first played Pes 4 I immediately became pes fanboy. This feeling grew eaven stronger with Pes 5 and got a little milder with pes 6. Fanboyism totally stopped with pes 2008 only to reach it's peak when I found out about and played WE9LE. It's all just about how good the game is not what it's called. I really hope FIFA 09 will be great because things aren't looking good with pes this year.

Re: PES 2009 News, Discussion and Rumours

Yeah we do .

I knew it. That city is mad

Don't ban me for off topic talk please

Just a little question here... Has any one from Konami specifically said they have been working on PES 2010 behind the scenes with 291 revamped and new features that will make us all cum when we load the game up?

Re: PES 2009 News, Discussion and Rumours

After my football kingdom referal i decided to actually watch it when i noticed that if you slowed the gameplay down and had 360 graphics everything looks similar to pes 2009. Honest get 2 youtube vids up of each and compare

Re: PES 2009 News, Discussion and Rumours

Right now I am praising to jesus navas that Konami put a demo up on the PSNetwork or Live or whatever. I really want to get to grips with the game before it comes out and not have to wait 4 weeks after release. They're did it the opposite way last year.

Conan O brien, simpsons quote?

It took 6 god damned years for one of my obscure references to be picked up on.

Today has just taken a turn for the spectacular.

Also my browser has just crashed horrendously and my pc is on the verge of becoming a paperweight so I might have to go under an enforced evo-web embargo.

If I do have to leave my e-friends then I want you all to know that you are all very special.

Re: PES 2009 News, Discussion and Rumours

The word embargo has annoyed me so much. The guys over at WENB say it all the time.

I GET YOU like maverick got Gooseman in topgun

The console demo is being released a week before game comes out I do believe according to gamespot

I was in the outskirts, just listening...:JAY:

I still play PES 6 online (on the 360)and PES 2008 on pc (for the master league) each has its' faults but still offered me a better sense of the real game of football.

Today's videos, even to the harshest critic, does look alot more promising than last year: pace of the game, shots, ball physics...Are there areas where they can improve? of course (i.e. 16 direction movement, more in-depth ML, etc..)

Once we get more reviews we'll have a better sense of what the gameplay actually feels like (instead of watching a gameplay vid of 2 people who only been playing the game for 5 mins). And once they release a demo we can each make a final decision whether to buy it or not.

I can understand the resentment of some people of last years title, especially for the PS3/360....but I don't get the immediate dismissal of this years title without even playing it for yourself, and maybe realizing how well this can actually play.

"However, Konami did tease us with the news that a major European competition will be officially licensed in the finished game. We're not allowed to announce which competition, because of an embargo, but we expect that fans will be pretty excited by the news".

Either champions league or more likely Europian Cup

Re: PES 2009 News, Discussion and Rumours

Looks alright from what i've seen, glad it's much slower, hopefully means it will last longer than a week ;)

Hopefully online works out good, then I can play th almighty Badgerman haha :D Providing off course online is better. Not just badger, everyone else too, one thing I missed was epic online games online, the last days for me for that was back on the XBOX and PS2, with PES5, sadly.

Re: PES 2009 News, Discussion and Rumours

Seriously, I'm not a one trick pony. I am actually very good at this Pro Evolution Soccer lark. It would be an honour to play some of you online.

Then I shall remove your honour.

So you commit seppuku.

Sorry.

Re: PES 2009 News, Discussion and Rumours

Unlike many ppl on this thread i enjoyed watching the vids, even though it is a bunch of noobs.

I have PES5 on my comp, right now and looking at PES2009, they almost look identical, but i wish that the would bring the shuffing when a player turns 90 degrees from a sprint back into PES2009.

To me it looks like KONAMI are taking a step in the right direction, but for some of us it isn't enough, for me it is I can wait for a new PES revolution to come along. But KONAMI should really listen to their fans and correct what needs to be fixed and leave whats good.

But I'm really excited to play Be A Legend mode, i've always liked playing Fantastica or w.e its called on PS2.
