Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

@jamezinho. Suff and Riot are not impressed with PES2009 and "express their opinions with refreshing impartiality" and you're happy with that. Adam likes it and you reckon he's "massively blinkered and biased" Both of your judgements are based on your opinion. Thing is there are people that have the opinion that is exactly opposite to yours.

Frankly I care less what Suff and Riot say but if they had said good things we would be on here complaining about their fanboyism as we have already done.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

The ISS team at Konami get the first 2 shots at a PES game on a new console. It's been that way since the PS1 days. So next year we should get the next real PES game made by the real full PES team and not the ISS boys or a mix of teams.

Where did this information come from? And how old is it?

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

Hate to say it .... but I told you so. You can look up my posts were I clearly mentioned that I wont take WENB word for shit this year. WENB can suck dick all decade if they think they had me again this year. Thank God I set out to gather as much news about both games this year, test both demos extensively myself to give each game a fair chance and then decide what to go for.

Shame on Suff and his team on sounding suspiciously so positive all this time to sell Konami early copies through Loyal fans that followed their coverage. NDA & free copies or not, you are either a hypocrite or your not. This podcast should've come out from day zero. I just love it how you blamed the crappy preview videos of PES 09 on the version or "build". EA wasn't afraid of showing their incomplete game on video running around and telling people that it is not 100% complete.

Suff out of all people came out and said he regretted giving pes 08 an 8/10 last year and, yet, he did the same stinking thing this year. If people go by your early impressions of 09 they would think it's what PES fans have been waiting for the past 3 years.

Fool me twice and shame on me. Shame on WENB and people who believed them for a second year in a row.

I have nothing against people who liked PES 09 and do not expect more from it. Please be patient with our outbursts cause a lot of PES hardcore fans are fed up with the fact that the PS2 version STILL plays better than next generation and that EA is more of a soccer simulation than PES as of today.
Real fans want to see the franchise evolve with technology and not take 5 steps back then a step forward.

Anyways...sorry I won't go on a rant again. Just felt like expressing my rage at WENB team.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

WTF
the songs dont work(PS3)
I created playlist called KONAMI_PES in XBL
Placed 12 songs in it.
But the playlist/songs is not reconized ingame
wtf am i doing wrong here???
I'm sure you do like me "KONAMI_PES " with a space at the end, erase the space and it's ok

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

I don't know who the WENB people are (or why they are so important - is Riot the guy who used to come on here?) but now it is clear that a lot of people don't like PES 2009 - so Konami may well sit up and take notice and make a better game next year.

So can we draw a line under it now please?

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

Unfortunately, "we" can't Terry...that's the problem with this thread...

As I said, it's about opinions and if you don't like what was said in the latest podcast then ignore it. It does raise some really valid points, though, that are worth discussing and I challenge anyone not to at least agree with part of what was said. To be honest I was surprised by the reactions on the WENB forums and here. It's almost as if people think Suff and Riot have sided with the devil, whereas Adam's opinions are always the gospel truth.

I'm not very impressed either but i'm satisfied in overal cuzz it's still the best option for my likes in the football genre (not that i buy a lot of other games due to other interests). But indeed we should "discuss" more other things/subjects like T Butcher fan mentioned, instead of going on and on and on and on about it like this...

LOL, funny quote from WENB blog:

" “You want something new” ?? FIFA stupid AI and artificial physics you mean. So go play FIFA, leave this website alone, OR you are one more FIFA player who feels something missing with that game and keep looking here some place to cry ??

Please, this isn’t Jerusalem’s Wailing Wall. "

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

I still can't connect to the online - every time i try to access my messages or log in the the online mode somewhere else i put my password in and then get an error saying something along the lines of "Error found in the install data, cancelling'

I've not even got the game installed on the HDD - the only thing installed is the patch.

I had a lot of trouble playing on Metal Gear Online until i got a better router and it solved the problem... so im not sure if its a similair problem or something on their end - Am I the only one having this?

I'm getting that too Rad since installing that update... gonna have to delete it. Its pretty shite any way and I'll wait for the 'real' version.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

Ahh so you were ok before the update came out?

Where did this information come from? And how old is it?

I remember reading it years ago in the official ps magazine in an interview and they said that the ISS team get the first 2 cracks at making a footie game for the newest consoles - i think he was talking about the jump from ps1 to ps2 at the time and saying that the iss team were handling the 2nd pes games on the ps2 with him overlooking everything but not directing how things should be done. To give his team time to create the real PES engine and use the best parts of the first 2 games.

I keep trying to find a quote online for it but i think it was that long ago its near impossible. It might be different these days but i don't think it is. I remember the first iss/pes game on the PS2 was a stinker and handled exactly like last years Pro Evo 08. And this feels like its a tweaked version of last years game so this would be their 2nd crack.

I play all with all kind of teams, i get bored when playing all time with the same team(s). Also don't like if someone else only picks one of the topteams all the time...

I don't think the ball feels like a brick, I think the ball was feeling way too light in the previous version, ball physics are ok now, not that it's perfect but i like it better this way!!

Thanks for the response, I just feel when you are dribbling that the ball seems too heavy, passing is ok, crossing a little fast etc but when moving with the ball it seems to be too slow. The Ps2 has it about right but next gen feels wrong.

I will try some different teams and see how I get on...Cheers

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

Just found this;

Well...after doing the above ONE file was not deleted...
THE EDIT FILE Data
It would appear that if you use a downloaded EDIT file, you can't get online...
SO...for those wanting to play online...don't use edit files!
another wonderful piece of KONAMI programming genius!

Does anyone here play online using a edited OF file?

Yes, I do.
I downloaded an optionfile from WENB, and online play is working. No problem with online, just the kits are default

Think I'm going to delete the patch as not being able to get online sucks. Anyone posting anything in the original thread Rad?

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

no it was someone saying they had the error message about install - then someone replied with a helpful 'oh... ive no idea how to help' then TC posts saying he's solved it by deleting his edit file and starting with the default data.

So unless there is something in the data that restricts online play.... it seems strange. Especially as other can play ok online. He doesnt say which OF hes using either :(

Apparantly Adam thinks FIFA is better now as well! There is no new engine by the way Riot confirmed it :((

Keep trying Rad - just tried 'Legends' and have got online at the 2nd attempt...

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

Anyone tried Legends Online yet? Had my first go tonight and its superb! BAP online was good, but I think this is as good, if not better. Just played 4 player v Czech and without communication, we just played really well.

No superstars, just mature football. People finding space, calling for the ball, lots of 'unluckies' after shots, dropping back to help defend etc. So enjoyable.

We won 2-0 and I felt I played my part!

Such a clever mode to let you take your career player online though, nice personal touch and people will get to know you by your player, rather than just a gamer tag.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

Did you get online Pb with that option files with the prem teams in or have you deleted it or deleted anything?

I've only tried connecting to messages and to something else... i cant think which other menu ive tried on.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

After playing the full game heres my verdict on the patched version of 08 AKA PES09

Bad Points

Graphics a little better but Poor for a next Generation Console.

Dreadful Animation especially the running.

Heavy laboured gameplay

Poor AI very similar at times to 08 just slower.

Useless Keepers who cant catch the ball.

Unbelievably bad sound effects. The ball sounds the pits.

Pathetic menu. Was it draw by schoolchildren?

No British stadiums.

Fewer licensed teams than last year.

Not all the champions league teams included

Crap music.

Not worth the money

Good Points:THINK:

Makes a good Frisbee.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

Isn't Wembley a British Stadium?

And I like the music in the game myself... and even if you don't you can turn those off and pick your own playlist.

-

Does anyone know of any championship kits/team stat pages?

I'm after adding some championship teams in so when i play a ML i can put them into division 2.

I have no idea what you guys mean by space at the end,
its just a playlist called KONAM_PES with all my songs in it.

Im pretty sure I saw Old Trafford in the Wii trailer, but yeah it doesnt make sense if they have both those sides licensed but dont have their stadiums. Even if EA have their exlusive licence wouldnt that mean that the santiago bernabeu wouldnt be licensed then?

But even then whats wrong with putting them in but naming them differently like past versions?

just seems like something else they chucked on the backburner when it comes to making the PS3/360/PC versions
