Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

Granted they haven't moved very far in the last 3 years, but FIFA have had 12 years and still can't make a game I can sit through for longer than an hour.

12 years?, I make it over 15. (although at the time FIFA '94 on the Megadrive owned me for a while)

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

but isnt it amazing how KONAMI a die hard corp and pes a console franchise has as its strongest stronghold the pc?

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

LATEST WENB PODCAST:

http://www.winningelevenblog.com/news/podcast-riot-reacts-final-verdict/

Its brilliant. A great listen for all PES and FIFA fans. :)

Thank fuck for WENB team and Riot coming out with that podcast. good to now they actually dont want us to waste our money by promoting a game which isn't acceptable (even if it is obvious) I really hoped PES 2010 would be a new engine but it seems Konami dont care, they've still got people who have a brand loyalty to PES which is a real shame cause EA can now have a stroll for the next few years which is worrying.

Meh, It sounded like 45 minutes of Suff and Riot verbally bumming EA to me. :BLEH:

Are you serious? Cmon mate its come from two people who promote the game FFS! at the end of the day there PES fans and so is everyone on this site but to dismiss what they say cause they admit FIFA is a generation ahead of PES is just silly. I think the key to this is dont help Konami kill the game further, If you don't like FIFA fine but I rather people get a hold of PES 09 pirated then buy it.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

OK I've now got both games, and enjoy both, FIFA plays some lovely football, but little things like you can't beat a man with some pace or a normal left to right move annoys me, and the fact you can't change stats I think is the biggest gripe I have with it.

I bought PES on friday for PS3 had played it on PC on wed and thur, and enjoyed it, much better than 2008, become a legend mode is ace really like it alot more than Be a Pro, but now that I'm playing it on PS3 I don't feel it's as good, the lighting has been improved but maybe too much that it looks like harsh light.

Why can't players like Ronaldo/Messi etc run away from defender once they get in front they always find a way back.

I just listened to the podcast on WENB and I can't argue with what they are saying, FIFA is good game, and I hate to believe that Konami aren't that bothered with being a better footballing game anymore just doesn't sit right with me, but it's true, the gameplay hasn't changed since PES3, it's not free flowing, i still have a goal saved from PES5 when I was Lille, a lovely fast 10 pass move, which I just don't fell I could do on PES2009.

PES is my game though, I've tried to play FIFA but there's too many things that annoy me, and apart from playing online, which I'm not to bothered by, I find there's not alot to do on it. The Manager mode is limited, and has flaws like you sign someone but can't change their squad number.

The Master league is still a better option, it's integrates domestic and european football, same the layout is still only 4 leagues.

Least on PES you can make the game look and now sound how you want, on FIFA although the have all the fancy licenses, why do the numbers on the back of the Lille kit look absolutely HUGE, and alot of the fonts for the names are wrong and look far too big, Kits can look spot on with PES, people like myself who change stats can make the game feel better, you can't even make missing players in FIFA, or improve players they rated wrongly.

Not sure why i've written all this year, just feeling a bit frustrated with both games.

FIFA has the gameplay nearly spot on, PES is stuck in 2003, but the things that keep you playing e.g season modes, PES has better than FIFA, editing the game to make it look better, PES has won this aswell.

So PES can look better editing wise and there is more to do, just a shame it's not as nice gameplay wise to do them

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

haven't got the full game yet, decided to download the demo again and give it a fair crack.....i hated pes2008, and when i first played the pes2009 demo it kinda tainted my opinion before i gave it a chance....after playing fifa 08 now fifa 09 it took me a little while to adjust to pro evo again....but i'm enjoying it....might even pop out and get a copy today :-)

now iv'e got a sainsburys, tesco and asda within a couple mile radius...does anyone know who does it the cheapest ?

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

I still can't connect to the online - every time i try to access my messages or log in the the online mode somewhere else i put my password in and then get an error saying something along the lines of "Error found in the install data, cancelling'

I've not even got the game installed on the HDD - the only thing installed is the patch.

I had a lot of trouble playing on Metal Gear Online until i got a better router and it solved the problem... so im not sure if its a similair problem or something on their end - Am I the only one having this?

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

And hows it going so far Terry? Is the player developement slow what about special abilities, how do you get them.

I am in week 10 I think, and none of my stats have gone up, so yeah the player development is a bit slow, but as you are a young player at the start of their career, you would expect it to be slow so that your player's peak can be around 27-30.

You get 12 points to share between 6 aspects of your player you want to improve the most each week out of:

Technique (kicking)
Technique (dribbling)
Balance
Power
Speed
Stamina

You can share the points out (2 on each) or prioritise certain areas at the expense of others.

I havn't seen anything on special abilities.

I am at Hull, have had 1 sub appearance where I got a half and ended up getting man of the match.

Thanks Rob. I hope they give the option to add Special Ability, hows the AI so far? Can you depend on your team mates?

Sometimes they can play some nice passing and put some good moves together, but there are a lot of annoying things in it:

When they should just slot the ball in the far corner, they blast it at the keeper or wide.
When you are in space making a run and are asking for the ball, you get ignored a lot, when you would have been through on goal if they had passed
Your AI teammates and the opponents don't man mark enough, and you get a lot of space both off and on the ball.
Sometimes the defenders will run into the opposition striker, gifting them the ball and most likely a goal.
When they have a free kick, even within 25 yards and central, they try and cross it into the box instead of having a go at goal.

The AI isn't that special, but the mode itself seems very good with proper internationals (European Championship and World Cup, with qualifiers). I may play the game a bit just for this mode.

I hope the special abilities are in, "shooting from distance" is needed for an attacking midfielder (which my player is).

i like BAL so far(enjoyed Fantasista more in winning eleven ps2 series)
im a SS,sometimes i can play CF:)
im at the end of the season in the Erendivisie, already made it 4 or 5 times as a sub.

Dont worry about the AI, it wil get better by them bigger team u play for, ofcourse the bigger team better players(team mates).
Now is there anyway to create a good player face(my own) from uploading a pic. i have tryed it,its almost impossible to create a decent player face!

1 match to go ,then transver period, hope i wil make it to a better team:) c'mon PSV!

And for the ppl getting crashes ,its ONLY on PC version.

I'm having a great time - got up at 7 this morning to get cracking once more! :PP

Player development (from what I have seen) is slow, very slow. In some ways it's frustrating, but if you became Messi by the end of the 1st season then the whole mode would be a waste of time. I'm nearing the end of the 2nd season and my stats are only slightly better than when I started. I'm not picking up much in the way of match experience points so I need to think what I'm doing wrong (if anything).

Your teammates are frustrating fuckers though. As others have said, sometimes you are in a great position but don't get the ball. Also, this morning I laid on 5 great chances for the main striker, which he squandered. Then he scores a scrappy tap in from a corner in the last minute. He got a 7.5 - I got 5.5. Where's the justice!?

Love it though. Absolutely love it.

Any idea what the four blue circles with 1 to 4 in them, next to your name, mean in that mode?

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

Just started a BAL game...
Terry what team are you playing with ???

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

I chose Italy because it was all licensed (not bothering with an option file until this Nokami update in November) and as I don't know much about the Italian league I would be oblivious to any niggling errors.

My life story is in the BAL thread that just begun Gerd.

My only downer is that there are no small stadiums. Siena vs Catania in an 80,000 seater stadium? Fucking stupid really - they can't blame that on licensing issues.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

Allright Rob, we know now...you have made your point...you obviously don't like.
This isn't supposed to be a PES Lovefest thread, but quite a lot of people have a feeling that you are repeating yourself just a tiny litle bit...

Tiny little bit......????????????

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

I've installed quite a good option file from WENB...with all the correct kits for the premiership and La Liga...
Both my kids have played far more PES2009 uptil now than i.
My 5 year old son plays with Barcelona against my 8 year old daughter who plays Chelsea...
This morning my son scored a fantastic lob from just behin the middle line...i congratulated him and presumed it was a freak goal. My daughter kicked off, lost the ball and he did it again...i've been playing the game for years and i never was able to do that...he did it twice in less than a minute...life isn't fair...

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

For all those that love the game what team do you play as , I am just curious if the enjoyment is because you are playing as good teams etc, I have always been Newcastle (no laughing) and am really hating PES at the moment, the ball feels like its a brick and the whole game seems disjointed, I just had some games online and its the usual issues but now rather than be super fast its impossible to tackle as the ball always bounces into their path for them to pick up.

However the one thing that is driving me nuts is cusor selection WTF!!! Semi is pants, Manual cant be used online, my cursor moves to some player when I am chasing a player down the wing.....ARRGHH!!

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

WTF
the songs dont work(PS3)
I created playlist called KONAMI_PES in XBL
Placed 12 songs in it.
But the playlist/songs is not reconized ingame
wtf am i doing wrong here???

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

Haha, respect to WENB. Nice to hear the truth for once. If Adam has also converted to FIFA I think the PES community will implode.

I play all with all kind of teams, i get bored when playing all time with the same team(s). Also don't like if someone else only picks one of the topteams all the time...

I don't think the ball feels like a brick, I think the ball was feeling way too light in the previous version, ball physics are ok now, not that it's perfect but i like it better this way!!

Were the songs definitely in the playlist? (And did you check there was no space at the end of KONAMI_PES?)

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

I listened to the Winningeleven blog podcast with interest at a silly hour of the morning in a wine induced stupor and found myself nodding at a lot of the comments from Riot especially; either in agreement or perhaps i was nodding off at my computer.

Now most of us like to think we are some free-thinking, lone-wolf mavericks when it comes to opinions on video games, you'll see it come up in every discussion where someone says ''reviews mean nothing....you are just a pawn listening to the maaaan'' or ''you guis iz rong...dis iz da bezt EVAR!'' but i genuinely believe that something as high-profile to the fans of PES as the WE blog speaking out will make some die-hards question their loyalty or at least actually question Konamis' commitment to the fans and the series.

In the coming weeks and months there will be forum posters who initially have reacted in a rather knee-jerk fashion against negative opinions will start to allow themselves to take in some of this wider criticism and after the initial ''It's soooo much better than '08'' relief those shortcomings will come to light.

It's frustrating for me...the ''other'' title doesn't have the weight to the players and the ball which although the whole package is fine it's ''feel'' it's not something i can get along with....but imho this is the only issue the other title has to address now to earn my anticipation and money in the future.

For me, for the second year running there isn't a football game i relish playing, both the contenders fall short somewhere which is almost baffling as previous incarnations of PES have nailed it down for me.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA TALK OR POLITICAL CHAT)

The latest WENB podcast addressed a few home truths, all of which I totally agree with. I don't understand the negativity towards Suff and Riot because as far as I'm concerned they are huge PES fans who have expressed their opinions with some refreshing impartiality. Remember, it's only their opinions and if you love PES2009 then fair enough. They were not telling people not to buy the game, nor that the fans are idiots for doing so (as seemed to be the massive over-reaction on the WENB forums). Riot only effectively reiterated his opinions from his past two podcasts over the past 12 months, and I dont remember such a reaction. And it's been obvious for months that Suff has been underwhelmed by the latest PES.

So lay off them, I say. I don't see how their opinions are any less valid than the massively blinkered and biased Adam.
